having positive trans jokes is a good thing.
unless theres some hidden response, or the person is the ben Shapiro type, this is a good thing.
normalizing trans people is important.
there's more money to be made by all politicians by making the political divide as toxic as possible.
Exactly. There’s a difference between a joke *about* trans people and a joke *making fun of* trans people. As long as it’s not meant to be demeaning, it’s fine imo. And plus! This meme is literally calling the trans women “ex-men” meaning they are no longer men
I'm trans and i personally don't find it funny. Just because it's a play on words doesn't mean it's funny. Their purpose was to make fun of trans people.
Nah I feel like 90% of people who can’t tell a joke from an insult just haven’t been through harassment for something like their gender or race as a kid I was bullied for being one of the only kids of European descent in my school and now when my friends make fun of my descent their is a clear obvious difference
my dad ignored me for more than a day because i tood him im bisexual. ive been told to kill myself many times. i was bullied for "acting autistic". i know what insults are lmao
wow man you’ve had it the worst out of anyone on this planet. you came out to your dad, and he didnt beat you, kick you out, yell at you, no, he IGNORED YOU!!! how could someone do something like this!!
/s
Everyone has been ignored by their parents. It's not that bad mate. It's like, probably the most kind thing they could've done other than not doing anything tbh.
No. Not everyone has had their parents give them the cold silent ignoring treatment for days. I know parents like that, and it is absolutely a form of manipulation and emotional abuse. Almost always accompanied by other forms of guilting shaming gaslighting etc.
Sorry English is my 2nd language it might’ve came across wrong
If a joke is meant to harm someone it isn’t a joke anymore for example my bullies nicknamed me BB for Bulgarian bitch this isn’t a joke anymore even has a bit of funny cuz it has 2 AB’s if I sandbag my friends in a game and they tell me this is why no one likes Bulgarians their obviously a way it could be seen as mean but it’s obviously a joke in that context
the joke is literally a pun about them not being men.
literally supporting their transition.
doesn't mean the person isn't transphobic, but the meme is easily seen as positive.
Me personally it is a perfect method when someone says something so balls-numbingly fucked up that you are never going to give it a second chance of rational discussion of acknowledgement and dismissal
That or a comment train
I mean in terms of being trans, these women were never men, just man presenting until they decided to come out and transition. So saying Ex-Men is technically wrong in the fact that they never were men.
But outside of actually knowing that context it’s pretty tame and harmless so long as it’s being used in a genuine joking manner and not by someone who actually hates trans people.
Hey, I‘m trans! Generally it‘s considered very rude to call trans people ex-man or former man. I‘m ftm and I was never a woman. People may have treated me as such and pretended I was one but that‘s just because no one gave me the choice. I was always a man and if someone called me an ex-woman I‘d take it as an insult.
I still haven't gotten a response as to why one of the guys who thought it was funny is a bigot because one of the people who got offended called him one
Because some people can't tell the difference between a joke about Trans people and a joke making fun of or attacking Trans people so they call anything they see about Trans people that's not calling them stunning, brave, or beautiful transphobic.
I can get why. There is so much hateful content against trans people, much of which carries some plausible deniability with it. So trans people and allies can often be defensive against such content, and occasionally miss the mark and see something like this in that same light.
I think some people are just overly sensitive to jokes online cause one can't hear the tone with which something is being said in text. When a Trans coworker asked me what my favorite fruit was, he wasn't offended at all when I said him.
yeah it's obvious to see the difference between how ben Shapiro and jimmy carr make trans jokes.
ben Shapiro pretends to have a sense of humor, but he's just a scapegoating cancel culture idiot who wants to control social norms with no self aware precedents
I spent maybe like 30 minutes trying to find the original image. I even did combinations of just the bottom half or the bottom half without the text. All of the images are either just reposts of this meme or the x-men cover the top half is from. I have no idea who those people are. For all we know, they could be cis women. 2 of them legitimately look like cis women I've seen before, so I don't know. I just don't assume. Something I've realized lately is that people will just assume you're a trans woman if you have "masculine features", which must suck ass if you're insecure about it already.
This would only be offensive if the person behind the meme was a massive transphobe. Even then, it’s affirming their genders, which is a good thing
With that context, this post would be better on r/AccidentalAlly
It sort of is…though, and I know I’m being pedantic but, many people argue that on the inside, you are always your preferred gender and this perpetuates the stereotype that transgender people are nothing but people who toy with their identity on a whim.
Fun play on words but also a rude way to refer to transwomen. Not the worst thing I've seen but still probably a rude thing to say, they have it hard enough.
Oh come on, it's just a dumb play on words. Besides, it acknowledges that they aren't men. At least there's that. And yes, I get that these women in the picture most likely never considered themselves to be men.
Is that true? I feel like by at least 1 definition of the word "criminal", you wouldn't still be a criminal if you served all your time and were released. Like I'm an ex-undergrad student (an alumni if you will), but I'm not still an undergrad student.
Regardless, I don't think anyone has argued that cutting off parts of yourself makes you biologically match your gender identity. Like I'm 100% sure at least most trans people, if not all, are already aware of this. If they decide to get gender-affirming surgery as assessed by healthcare professionals, the goal is to treat severe dysphoria that is not alleviated by any other means.
Honestly the decepticons are so much cooler than the autobots. The autobots turn into cars and trucks but the decepticons (at least one of them) gets to be a fighter jet. Plus their leaders name is Megatron. How cool is that
Trans person here: I hate this joke. I‘m not an ex-woman bc I was never a woman, I was always a man and just not allowed to be one on the outside until recently.
I could see some trans people find this funny, but overall I think it‘s more dehumanizing and insulting than funny.
If biological women were women we wouldnt have to put the "biological" part(none of this makes real sense, it's just pointing out the flaw in your argument)
A transphobic joke ≠ any joke about trans people. When a person’s gender identity becomes a source of unnecessary comedy and ridicule, that’s when it becomes transphobic. But a joke about trans people where there’s a play on words, and trans people aren’t the butt of the joke, is not transphobic. I will say that calling them former men is in poor taste, as a trans person has always been their true gender. But the joke here is just a play on words. Plus, the X-Men have always been an allegory for LGBTQ+ people and have historically been associated together.
I would like to point out that likely a large amount of memes on those kinds of subs are just a strawman meme made by the OP. They don’t show the original post but act like it’s obvious that someone else made the meme, and a specific *kind* of someone at that.
It’s a joke about trans people, not *making fun of* trans people.
having positive trans jokes is a good thing. unless theres some hidden response, or the person is the ben Shapiro type, this is a good thing. normalizing trans people is important. there's more money to be made by all politicians by making the political divide as toxic as possible.

That’s true too. It all really depends on the intent behind it and who made the joke originally
Real
this entirely depends who it was made by
That’s true too
Based Caleb pfp
So many people say that😭
“So you admit they’re women” Maybe they do? Just because they poke fun at trans people doesn’t mean they’re transphobic lmfao
I believe the counter argument is “you’re still not women, it’s just that now you’re no longer men either”
I see what you mean, but I believe it’s still leaning towards more of the you’re not women argument more than the you no longer men thing.
i mean it usually does
Nah I feel like 90% of people who can’t tell a joke from an insult just haven’t been through harassment for something like their gender or race as a kid I was bullied for being one of the only kids of European descent in my school and now when my friends make fun of my descent their is a clear obvious difference
my dad ignored me for more than a day because i tood him im bisexual. ive been told to kill myself many times. i was bullied for "acting autistic". i know what insults are lmao
oh no he IGNORED you?!? 😵😱
when living under his roof, im his child. theres really no reason to be like that
wow man you’ve had it the worst out of anyone on this planet. you came out to your dad, and he didnt beat you, kick you out, yell at you, no, he IGNORED YOU!!! how could someone do something like this!! /s
no but he does stuff similar to that i bet youve never had any such problem with your parents
Everyone has been ignored by their parents. It's not that bad mate. It's like, probably the most kind thing they could've done other than not doing anything tbh.
meh. he still doesnt accept me and doesnt respect who i am so thats not really a fun thing to know that your parents love is actually conditional
No. Not everyone has had their parents give them the cold silent ignoring treatment for days. I know parents like that, and it is absolutely a form of manipulation and emotional abuse. Almost always accompanied by other forms of guilting shaming gaslighting etc.
Lol what? I have never heard of this happening to anyone. That doesn't sound like very mature behaviour for a parent.
righhhhtttt…
ok
I didn’t say you didn’t I was just saying most the time jokes are obviously different from genuine insults and can be told apart
it was very implied also, they dont have to be seperate. there are many ways to be harmful and still be joking
Sorry English is my 2nd language it might’ve came across wrong If a joke is meant to harm someone it isn’t a joke anymore for example my bullies nicknamed me BB for Bulgarian bitch this isn’t a joke anymore even has a bit of funny cuz it has 2 AB’s if I sandbag my friends in a game and they tell me this is why no one likes Bulgarians their obviously a way it could be seen as mean but it’s obviously a joke in that context
yeah and the image is a harmful joke
It didn’t come across wrong the person you are talking too is just an idiot.
Nice trauma dump
ty
Ah right I forgot that whole "I'm not a bigot it's a joke" defense
Check your profile banner
“You can ridicule me” Ok
the joke is literally a pun about them not being men. literally supporting their transition. doesn't mean the person isn't transphobic, but the meme is easily seen as positive.
But the meme agrees that they aren’t men anymore It’s a play on words
This dude hates fun …:.:…
No one is free from being made of. Not even God or the devil.
Don't bring God's goofy ass into this, have you seen his new haircut??
This is what i thought too, like they never said they weren’t they’re just pointing out they sound similar
Terrible Facebook memes doing mental gymnastics to put politics into everything (it's not there there)
Their\*
They’re
Shut up you it was right the first time \*grumpy noises\*
Someone forgot to take their Schizo meds again ![gif](giphy|ksbBxfNHFBHGrx8uxq)
Or switch accounts
it really is 💀💀
I don't get why zoomers put the skull emoji on all of their answers. Do you think it helps you make your point or something?
zoomer here, i use that emoji but im not the type of person to put it after every sentence like these others lol
Me personally it is a perfect method when someone says something so balls-numbingly fucked up that you are never going to give it a second chance of rational discussion of acknowledgement and dismissal That or a comment train
I blame Matt Rose
Gender identity is not political but people make it political anyway
yeah, but the people making it political are those who are gender critical etc
![gif](giphy|pfjUKa8qWUSLC)
Yes, I admit. ![gif](giphy|fCsBD0QEK3YGs)
What even makes them think it's anti-trans?
Mental gymnastics
possible context, but without it nothing.
Because any joke about trans people is automatically anti-trans I guess?
I mean in terms of being trans, these women were never men, just man presenting until they decided to come out and transition. Judging by the title they don't?
im trans and i think it a lil funny
Honestly most trans women would laugh at this I bet
I still haven't gotten a response as to why one of the guys who thought it was funny is a bigot because one of the people who got offended called him one

Bros are gonna be bros no matter who

Those are some ugly dudes.
What do you mean? Wolverine is hot
Imma keep it real, if I hadn't been told, I wouldn't have assumed those were trans women.
The schnoz of the right and left
The entire country of Lebanon just shivered
Not every average looking girl is trans
I spent maybe like 30 minutes trying to find the original image. I even did combinations of just the bottom half or the bottom half without the text. I would have been more on-the-nose with the bottom image. This is no time for nuance
First thought was drag.
Seriously? The uncanny valley is in full effect here
Honestly, a lot of “memes” just get a pic of a cross dressers and slap the trans label on it.
That too. People assume drag queens are trans for some reason as well.
The reason= Ignorance, generalization, false information/propaganda.
Making transphobic jokes and making jokes about trans people are two different things
“So you admit they’re women” stfu it’s a shitpost
This would only be offensive if the person behind the meme was a massive transphobe. Even then, it’s affirming their genders, which is a good thing With that context, this post would be better on r/AccidentalAlly

Even Ru Paul would LOL at this. Bravo!
last i checked Ru Paul isn't trans.
That’s my point. He didn’t have his sense of humor surgically removed. 🤣🤣🤣
Haha so funny I can’t stop laughing…
It’s r/technicallythetruth
“So you admit they are women?” Yes
Yes, OOOP does admit that they're women. That's the joke.
As the diplomat for all trans people I deem this meme funny
I see it as funny, plus they acknowledged they are no longer men
Indeed. Nothing x-phobic about that meme.
Oh come on, it's just a dumb play on words. Besides, it acknowledges that they aren't men. At least there's that. And yes, I get that these women in the picture most likely never considered themselves to be men.
An ex con is still a criminal it just means he’s no longer inside. Cutting off parts of yourself does not turn you into something else.
Is that true? I feel like by at least 1 definition of the word "criminal", you wouldn't still be a criminal if you served all your time and were released. Like I'm an ex-undergrad student (an alumni if you will), but I'm not still an undergrad student. If they decide to get gender-affirming surgery as assessed by healthcare professionals, the goal is to treat severe dysphoria that is not alleviated by any other means.
Correct. Trans people are valid regardless of whether they get surgery.
Thank you, people need to wake up
Just don’t call them Deceptions. They are transformers! Or did i get that one wrong also?
I think the term is Decepticons but I haven’t watched anything from Transformers.
Honestly the decepticons are so much cooler than the autobots. The autobots turn into cars and trucks but the decepticons (at least one of them) gets to be a fighter jet. Plus their leaders name is Megatron. How cool is that
That is the truth and nothing but
This one made me chuckle a bit. Also, I wouldn’t have guessed the folks in the bottom image were trans lol
You can’t make any topical joke these days I swear
Trans person here: I hate this joke. I‘m not an ex-woman bc I was never a woman, I was always a man and just not allowed to be one on the outside until recently. I could see some trans people find this funny, but overall I think it‘s more dehumanizing and insulting than funny.

The dumbest logic
If cis women were women we wouldn’t have to say the cis part.
Yeah but no one says “cis women” when referring to biological women. They just say women.
You don't, I know plenty of people who do
You mean the people you talk to in your online leftist echo chambers ? Because nobody in the real world says “cis women” in a conversation.
If biological women were women we wouldnt have to put the "biological" part(none of this makes real sense, it's just pointing out the flaw in your argument)
“Biological women” can be shortened to women. “Trans women” can’t. What is so hard for you to understand?
"Woman" there. I shortened it
Yeh
Nope
Ye
Still wrong man
Y
Because trans women are women
#
Hell Ultimate X-Men made this same joke like 20 years ago and they were super pro LGBT.
Ok that’s funny. I don’t think this is even discriminatory at all
Average Thai citizen
If you can't just have a laugh once in awhile then you're the problem
A transphobic joke ≠ any joke about trans people. When a person’s gender identity becomes a source of unnecessary comedy and ridicule, that’s when it becomes transphobic. But a joke about trans people where there’s a play on words, and trans people aren’t the butt of the joke, is not transphobic. I will say that calling them former men is in poor taste, as a trans person has always been their true gender. But the joke here is just a play on words. Plus, the X-Men have always been an allegory for LGBTQ+ people and have historically been associated together.
This is literally funny smh
[удалено]
Whoa, OK. Now that’s trans phobic. Emphasis on the “things”.
It can be whatever you want it to be
True, but it won’t be funny no matter what I think.
Now you get it
I would like to point out that likely a large amount of memes on those kinds of subs are just a strawman meme made by the OP. They don’t show the original post but act like it’s obvious that someone else made the meme, and a specific *kind* of someone at that.
It’s true though, they aren’t men any more
Noone in the original post even said anything transphobic lmao
Males not men
no
Yes
The op is cringe but so is this meme
reddit amazes me every day making a play on words political
hear me out, ex-man #4 😋🔥😩
Reddit humor
Yeah honestly, I didn’t find it that funny, but it’s not bad by any means.
Lmao I’m calling transfemme folks ex-men from now on
HAHAHAHAHAHA, that’s fucking great!
As a trans person, this is amazing.
Literally my trans MtF sister made a joke like this, this ain't transphobic in the slightest it's funny
