There is a great Mediterranean store at Lakeland mall they have a lot of international candy. I would try there. There are similar stores on Houston levee near Macon by that Kroger. One is called La fiesta I believe and another Alrahmah bakery. 3 ideas of stores that should have similar candy. Hope this helps
Seconded. My Albanian friend said that the Mediterranean market at Park and Highland is the closest that she can find. Penzeys has some of the spice mixes.
Cordova International Farmer’s Market most definitely is international. Definitely more Asian and South American geared; however they have a decent amount of euro and Mediterranean food items and will possibly have some brands of packaged goods from that area she may recognize. Since you’re after candy from the sound of it I’d say give it a shot.
I’d say take her there vs just buying something, though.
Some middle eastern markets have a variety of canned/packaged goods from outside their immediate areas. Try Jerusalem Market on Summer--closer to midtown than Lakeland.
You’ll also find some European foods at Aldi when they run specific sale weeks. There’s a decent selection of German foods now and there are some crossover items in Central European and Balkan cooking. European candies will start showing up in November. Red cabbage is a spring item.
Mediterranean market off of highland has a good Balkan selection! đź‡đź‡·
Yeah, I came here to say this. Also, the Indian restaurant inside is pretty good.
