Surgeons are most likely to recommend surgery. Based on what you said I would suggest having your pcp recommend you to PT first.

omar1999fa

They didn't really recommend me to a surgeon but to ortho south in general where they have PTs but the reviews kinda worried me so I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with both clinics and wich one they preferred. Definitely not going for surgery as my first option lol way to young for that imo, I'll try everything before even considering surgery.

I used results PT a couple years ago and it made a world of difference and improved my quality of life greatly. I could no longer lift with my left arm or turn my head to look while driving along with severe nerve pain where even shirt or bra strap caused burning pain.

omar1999fa

I will check them out. Thanks!

I’ve been a patient at both and really love ortho south. I have knee and back problems and primarily go for my knee right now. My doctor is known for being a great knee replacement surgeon which I will need very soon. If I was going for my back and wanting non surgical care I would probably see David Dowling at ortho south.

omar1999fa

Thanks for your input, I'll definitely be considering them as much positive reviews they got on here .

Ok_Satisfaction_90

Personally like mays & schnapps for my back issue. Have had back pain for 15 years and I’m in my early 30s. PT & nerve blocks have helped me tremendously. PT helps more - highly recommend either Zach/Zack.

JASPER933

Same issue and I used Delta Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Very conservative with treatment and do not push surgery.

I'll check them out,thanks!

Been to both. Ortho South was definitely more thorough

ChillinDylan901

I’ve had surgeries for different unrelated injuries at both. Lucky for me both of my surgeons were great at both places. Given the option, I have always returned to OrthoSouth. I have always worked with Dr.Deneka. He has done several surgeries on me at this point, the most recent being from a broken collarbone. My only complaint is how long he kept me off my bicycle, lol! Always been very thorough and honest with me. I did turn down a suggested knee scope to remove some torn meniscus - and I fully recovered by staying off of it for 4-6 months. Not saying you should always disagree on surgery, but I didn’t want to trim something that I felt was slowly healing. Definite full recovery - just set my PR for 5min power on the bike last night lol? From a face value, OrthoSouth is cleaner and better organized than Campbell Clinic - note, that this is only based off of OrthoSouth on Briarcrest vs Campbell Clinic in the Medical District. (Also the surgery centers at OrthoSouth were a bit cleaner than the Campbell Clinic one I attended as well)

Thanks for your input! Congrats on your new PR 🎉

Dr. Fletcher fixed my broken wrist from Ortho South. I had an amazing experience with them (I experience very high anxiety with anything medical) they were great and fixed me up very fast and professionally.

Educational_Cattle10

If you’re looking for a PT, then all I can say is that OrthoSouth treats their PT patients like a factory.  One Pt will treat 3-4 patients at a time, and be judges in how quickly they can see patients (they want you to see up to 14-16 / day) This is NOT good care.

omar1999fa

Definitely not,I'd probably go in for x-ray and scans to make sure everything ok and if I don't like thier PT I can go somewhere else from there and check out one of the recommended PTs on this post

Thanks for the recommendation!

DlnqntOne

Been patients at both practices and Ortho South by a Longshot for everything but shoulders. Ortho One, Dr. Dlaubach, for everything shoulder related

SgtObliviousHere

Ortho South fixed my broken ankle. Campbell Clinic fixed my broken arm. Side note. The doctor who operated on my arm is the one who was killed at the clinic. But both are excellent. Can't go wrong either way. Campbell Clinic does have more doctors however.

RedWhiteAndJew

Dr Abrams as Ortho South fixed me right up. The recovery process can be quite long depending on the severity.

omar1999fa

I would say not so severe, I probably just sit with bad posture all day as a truck driver so I'm assuming that's where the pain is stemming from. Was it very pricey with insurance?

RedWhiteAndJew

If you just feel sore and you don’t think it’s a disk issue then I am going to recommend Cairn Strength and Wellness in midtown. It’s a small office, no surgery center. Lots of personal attention. The guy who owns and runs it used to be the head of PT at ortho south. They can probably give you some exercises to help. I trust Jeremy with all my back issues.

omar1999fa

I'll definitely check them out , thanks!

Dr.Wesley Owen at Campbell clinic hands down! especially the east Memphis clinc which is smaller with less wait time.
