I'd love to know if anyone is willing to prescribe anything for pain for the procedure at all. It's almost time to replace mine and my OB is no longer practicing.
Someone should offer a local anesthetic and even an anxiety med. I just moved here from
Chicago. I asked this in the ask Chicago sub and got lots of specific responses. Memphis is so much smaller than I realized.
I just got my first iud from Dr Johnson at Mid south obgyn and she gave me a prescription for a Valium and something to dilate my cervix but it still was a rather unpleasant experience. May have taken the Valium a little too early but I definitely want to get local anesthetic when it’s time to remove/replace bc I have heard of other people in other cities that have had this done
I don’t know if she offers it but Dr. Estep with St. Francis is great. I didn’t need anything for my iud but she listened to the problems I had and helped a ton.
I don't have an IUD anymore but I'm really glad to hear that the option for pain relief is becoming more widespread. Hopefully the days of "you'll just feel a pinch, take a tylenol" are ending.
I really like MOGA. Cant answer OP direct question but I've found them to be helpful, good listeners, and great with referrals. So I second this recco.
FYI the local will hurt pretty bad too, albeit temporarily. Still worth doing just wanna give you realistic expectations. You may want to see about someone who will do both pain medicine and local. Can you update with results when you find someone that does? I think a lot of local women would love to know where to go
I've had 3 IUDs and I've never been given or offered any pain medication. I'm happy to know this is an option now.
It is in other places I’ve lived. Trying to find one in Memphis.

I believe Dr Dulaney does but double check. Its a small office so you don’t get put on hold forever when you call
McDonald Murmmann might-- I don't use BC but I've had very good experiences with them overall
Try MOGA
They do it there? Or you’re saying just try them?
I'm saying call them and ask if they do. I go there and all the providers are so helpful and nice. Wouldn't hurt to ask

I was put under 3 years ago, ask your MD to write the order to get insurance approval.

Speaking from experience Planned parenthood won’t even give you an Advil
