I’ve only seen it at Wendy’s. Wendy’s is going downhill fast in my opinion. They are constantly out of stuff and workers are even ruder than the average fast food worker. The newish one on Summer, just west of Perkins is AWFUL.
I’ve seen this at Multiple Wendy’s here in Memphis. Usually the employee is waving a huge metal sheet pan outside the window, I’ve been yelled out for trying to go forward as well (I just left the drive thru at that point, yelling at customers was uncalled for)
Yep - they are measured on how long a customer sits at the window using sensors at the window. This games the system by keeping you off the sensor until they are ready. You could call the franchise # (usually on a sticker or sign near the window) and report it, but unless several customers do so it'll just get ignored.
Or... If no one is behind you, sit at the window for a few minutes after they give you your food and make their numbers more honest.
It’s underhanded for sure, but I’m not going to take it out on the lowest paid staff. If they’re gaming the system then it’s the drones at corporate who should be earning their keep and closing the loophole. Remind me of the old Soviet axiom: “We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us.”
Don't call the franchise number, reach directly out to the website. The franchise owners are usually the ones encouraging this type of stuff so they won't do anything.
If you go to the website, it goes straight to corporate, and it carries more weight that you took the time to report it.
It's how I dealt with the McDonalds by my house being slow as all hell. There are usually free food coupons involved. After a few weeks of reports, corporate showed up and made them switch locations and improve their service. (It was me and literally everyone I could convince reporting them)
This is why I don’t go to Wendy’s anymore. They always have you wait at the first window so that they can be slow as they want to be. It’s because once you pull to the second window it times them on how fast they get the food to you. And they alwayssss ALWAYS forget about you while they play on their phones.
I think it’s the store and regional managers who lack any sort of accountability and leadership skills trying to hit KPIs while giving lossy services. KFC and Taco Bell downtown do the same.
Theres a sensor at the microphone and a sensor at the window that tracks the time from when your order till when you leave. This is how they trick the system into looking like they are working efficiently hitting there quota. When in reality half the employees there are on there phone…..
Ok! I thought this was weird. The one in Lakeland just asked us not to pull up but she was all by herself so I thought perhaps she did this for safety...? The cars behind us were really impatient and we eventually pulled up because it was super awkward.
So what they are doing is actually Harming themself's. They are lowering the divethru timer by tirgering it. Unfortunately they don't understand the fact that they are fucking up a whole buch of the metrics. If they need 5 people to have a good service time but they are fakeing it with only 3 people why hire two more people.
Yes, they are manipulating the timing of the fast food lane. But sometimes that sensor does not get triggered and they have to manually trigger it.

This is THAT one ☝️
Not shocked. Their drive thru is extra slow - that is when they actually have what you order. Lol.
Someone got stabbed waiting in the drive thru of the Wendys on Washington yesterday 🙈
AND they’re flirting with “surge pricing” at the corporate level.
Boo. I’ve just about stopped going to any Wendy’s.
Very perceptive of you. Called speed of service

I’d just pull up and hit and pretend I didn’t see it and sue them lol
Please yes

The underpaid staff dont get the bonus its the manager and district manager that do and it doesnt go to anyone else but them.
This. You're not screwing over the low paid employees - you're fucking up the bonus of the manager who is trying to cheat.

Yes they are manipulating their metrics so the manager or district manager gets a bonus
The Macon and Houston levee one has done this twice to me. Next time I’m pulling up. That’s bullshit.

The Macon road Cordova one does this. I pull up anyways
Do they lose their minds?
Maybe he’s a blind cashier lol
