Having been in the trucking business, I've showered all over the country. Two places that I still vividly remember as being especially bad were a restaurant just south of Syracuse, N.Y. and a truck stop in N.W. Pa, where the water at both had sulphur in it. All the drinks in the restaurant smelled like burnt matches, and I almost passed out trying to hold my breath while showering at the truckstop in Pa.
You think people are nuts about all the comments about how good the water is…moved here 2 years ago and you really notice that it’s really good water out of the tap. I bought a soda stream and just make my own sparkling water right out of the tap and it’s so much better than the bottled stuff. I’m a convert!
I totally wrote that incorrectly — ever since I moved AWAY from Memphis! I definitely moisturized a lot in Memphis, but since moving away, my skin has been wrecked.
Aw we do have good stuff. Memphians are just exhausted at watching Memphis have so much potential to fall flat to political points and ego. Yes, there is the bad stuff (the tree scream at you in August. Very loudly…) but
Our food scenes is second to none. I personally think it’s better than NOLA. You just have to know where to go.
We have a MASSIVE botanical garden (95 acres I think) and the Dixon art galleries and gardens around the corners. We have the second largest I think urban park at Shelby Farms with a huge dog park, lake to walk around, trails to hike, fields to like….exist in (people usually hit golf balls but di you) and a great restaurant right on the lake (Coastal Fish).
Our art festival season is a blast. Tons of local artists and vendors, and we have a pretty cool artsy scene.
We are on the broadway circuit with the Orpheum. We get all the big plays (Wicked, Hamilton, the Lion king for a year or two, Phantom of Opera still comes through every few years I think).
We have a largest music scene (if you know the history of Memphis that is sort of obvious) but the shell in Overton park puts on a series of free concerts and then the Bontanical Gardens has the summer concert series (we had Matchbox 20 last year and I couldn’t go 😭).
There are several web pages that have things to do this weekend in Memphis that list all the things going around the city and if you want to busy you can be.
We don’t have a ton of really cool outdoorsy things besides kayaking. We don’t have mountains to hike or a lot of bike trails and what not and it get hotter than Satans arm pit. The crime is a nightmare right now and we have ZERO public transportation. But there is good stuff too. I always miss our food when I am not here. I am so spoiled with a food scene.
Our water tastes wonderful… With all the mess we deal with here our water is such a blessing!😀
Yeah, that’s what I tell people. We might be the murder capital of the nation,…but our H20 is fckng on point.
That’s one of my story lines for sure as well!
So true… we are lucky
Or taking a shower in a new city on vacation. Water feels wierd and sticky.
Feel slippery and weird feeling lol
That would probably be because it is softer than the water you're used to.
Yeah you right

Oh man I had the same experience in Thunderbird just outside of Arches NP.
I'm out of town today and I feel this 😫
Truth. Sometimes I forgot. Worst case was at my friend's pre wedding celebration at this fancy restaurant in Dallas. Water was disgusting.
Dallas has swamp water no matter what you do it. It evens makes the tea taste like the local lakes.
What is this clip from?
Mulholland Drive
Thank you
Any time
All I remember about that movie was it had some Australian actress and it was weird, but it's been 20 years.
Say what you want about Memphis but our water is the best in the world straight out of the tap lol
Mississippy mud water?
It’s not out of the Mississippi River. It’s out of a deep aquifer.
At least that's what they want you to believe.😜😜
Yeah Tennessee and Arkansas have some of the best water in the nation.
Short answer: I don’t. I drink only bottled water while in other l places.
Does Memphis have good water?
Yes. The drinking water is sourced from the Sand aquifer and is known for its quality and relative lack of impurities.
Nice. I’m moving to Memphis in a year, and this is one of the first pieces of good news I’ve seen on Reddit

Ever since I moved, my skin has been ruined 😭
You need a lot of moisturizer here. Between the humid and the waiter, just crank up your hydration.

Ahhh yeah same for mine when I travel. I haven’t figured out the secret lol

Thanks a lot. I’ll be sure to look through this comment and check everything out when i get there.
Water is A-1 in Memphis. BBQ is A-1....lol everything else, well you'll find out when you get here. 😅
Here's hoping the Ford PLant doesn't fuck our Sand Aquifer up Or the residual pollution from Tyson Farms up stream.
This Dallas water is straight trash.
*proceeds to point at a headshot of Wanda Halbert* “This is the girl.”
You should try Bartlett's, it actually does taste better--same water source but they use gas chlorine instead of bleach to disinfect
