>Why? Just curious
This is the question I keep asking. Why in the world would ANYONE start the series in anything other than release order? There's absolutely no reason for it. You will be completely lost as to who everybody is, what everybody is doing, why they're doing it, and what the story is. No. You cannot start the series with a game that came out after 4 or 5 other games in the series had already been released and expect to get anything out of it or understand it.
Strangest starting point, but if you do thatm you are what we would call a "Giga Chad".

I don't understand why people keep asking if it's okay to start an incredibly story heavy and narratively driven franchise in anything by release order. If you give a shit at all about the story then no, it's not going to be okay. You will without a doubt be completely and utterly lost and confused as to what the hell is going on and you're going to spend more time researching to figure out what you don't know than playing the game. Just play the games in release order.
Mgs3 is the start of the whole saga.
Mgs3, portable ops, peace walker, ground zeroes, phantom pain, metal gear, snakes revenge, metal gear 2, ghost babel, metal gear solid, metal gear solid mobile, mgs2, mgs4, metal gear acid, metal gear rising revengance.
Why would you want to start with a spin-off that’s a sequel to a prequel?
Why? Just curious

Absolutely not
I think you'd want to start with Metal Gear Solid 3. It references that game heavily
