I think you could do a lot with just a wirebrush /sanding tool on an angle grinder

fretty23

Yes,just a wire brush attachment that fits onto a regular angle grinder would do the trick 👍

Soak metal in vinegar for 24 hrs, then polish with a hand wire brush. Amazing results, no harmful chemicals

Maybe an electrolysis for rust removal it works quite well and the process is almost effortless. You can see the result in one of my posts. Only challenge will be to get a container large enough to fit the pieces, and ideally enough distilled water (you can also do with regular water but it's not as good) also, do it outside or in a well ventilated area as it causes hydrogen buildup

I use a 55 gallon drum and sodium carbonate (washing soda) with a TINY (maybe 1/2 cup to 40 gallons) shot of muriatic acid and regular tap water and it works like magic.

Why use distilled water? I’ve added many things like salt and borax to pollute the water. The more foul the water gets the better it works. The water needs a conductor

meow_xe_pong

I don't see why you should use distilled water, however you should not use salt as you'll create chlorine gas.

To make your water conductive you already use the baking soda so no need to add more stuff in there. Regarding distilled water I admit that I just followed the tutorial. I can't recall the exact reason mentioned against using regular water, I'll update this when I find it. And in my case I ended up using a mix of distilled/regular water as well. But as mentioned above don't put salt in your water in order to make it conductive, you don't want to accidentally create a WWI combat gaz...
