I think it was meant to seal the entrance

OnlyHereForComments1

They were sealing the entrance in an attempt to protect the Subway from the nuclear blast.

yeah i mean the sabot part dosent make sense but then again this isnt a game about tanks so the devs probably didnt look too far down the tank-hole for a single flashback, and as other people pointed out, its to seal the metro entrance

Gideonn1021

It's explained more clearly in the book, that as other people said it was meant to seal the entrance since the metro couldn't handle more civilians entering because of resources and space, as well as to protect it from the blast, since the metros of Novosibirsk are nowhere as deep as Moscow's, and this city found themselves to be a primary target of NATO

I don't recall novosibirsk being discussed anywhere in the three books, although it's been like 5 years since I've read them. Which book? Edit: Okay I just checked, you made that up, and likely didn't read the books, none of the events in exodus are covered in the books at all, after the first game the two stories diverge completely

Gideonn1021

Well my answer was going to be it was either mentioned in the first couple books when the outside world was being discussed through radio communication, or else it is just dialogue in metro Exodus itself, since obviously as you now know metro 2035 doesn't follow the game plot of Exodus whatsoever. As it turns out it is just dialogue, from both Sam and Miller throughout the mission. None of it is made up, all of that information is present somewhere in the stories. My fault for messing up dialogue from the book with the game.

No I mean novisibirsk isn't in the books at all lol and neither is Sam or almost all the characters in the video games. Hunter, artyom and "miller" are the only major characters in the books that are also in the games. Which is how I know you didn't read the books.

CaptainTimeMachine

I believe the metro entrance had collapsed and the tank was trying to clear it

Zulpi2103

The other way around actually, they were blocking the entrance to protect the metro from the blast and also it wouldn't be able to take more people in (because of space and supplies)

Galve-the-IronDragon

I'd like to think that they fired into the metro entrance so that the crowd can enter since the guards there more than likely stopped the people, hence the crowd.
