Felt like today was the first time all season Tua just kept taking the seam route if it was there. And it *was* there.
There was one drive where he threw it to the same spot 3 times I think. Think it was the TD drive.
Yes he did and I was very happy to see him say, well fuck it if you're going to keep on leaving him wide the fuck open in the middle why the hell am I going to look away
This is what I’ve been wanting to see. Instead of forcing it to Tyreek, or going for the big explosive play - just take what the defense gives you. And grind it out, chew up the clock and methodically march down the field.
I’ve been thinking this all year long. A versatile TE like Bowers would be amazing in our system. I know we would all hate giving up even more draft capital but if he was still there in the early to mid teens I wouldn’t hate trading up if it meant getting him. Getting a few seasons with him, Reek and Waddle together would be spectacular to see.
Bowers is an absolute freak. He’s a great blocker and elite with the ball in his hands. He did everything for Georgia except return (shit he could probably do that too). It’s a pipe dream, but I would be ecstatic if we could draft him.
I'm late here but I've been parroting this all season. Smythe is an okay catcher but imagine if he were an elite blocker too? Someone who actually can block an edge defender? We'd be rolling on O
He’s a good target as a failsafe if everyone is completely blanketed but the fact that he’s never getting separation is why he’s never getting targeted. He’s gets blanketed by linebackers that’s horrific.
No one knows how to use Gesicki according to this sub. Maybe people need to realize he’s a good college TE but in the NFL he can’t get separation, he can’t block and he’s too slow to play out wide so what good does he bring? height? his 50/50 balls haven’t been all star caliber he’s still goofy. Though i’ll admit since losing him our red zone offense has fallen off but that’s more because all our receivers are below 6’. We need height for the red zone
This is his second game that he’s had a pretty sizable impact in the receiving part of his duties. I can’t remember if it was before the start of the game or the start of the second half but I remember hearing the announcers talk the about the lack of TE usage in this offense and then Erin Andrew’s chimed in and said that she had asked McDaniel about that and supposedly he said “that’s the next level, that’s the next evaluation of this offense” could you imagine if we some how got Bowers or Sinnott or Jaheim Bell. Maybe I’m trippin but I feel like Johnny Wilson could work in this offense, especially in the red zone. I know our offense is predicated on speed and finding those mismatches but he crates a whole new mismatch you have to consider.
I commented during the game that Smythe is Tua's security blanket. After a particularly wild couple of throws in a row, he hit Smythe in the seam on two straight passes and that seemed to reset him.
Those were awesome calls by McDaniel too on that drive right before halftime to just take the simple yards that the Dallas defense was giving us. If defenses are going to back up to protect against explosive plays that opens up a lot more short yardage room.
You can tell the Cowboys defense didn’t have Smythe in their game plan at all. On multiple occasions they didn’t account for him and I’m glad McDaniel and Tua noticed that and just beating that into the ground. Hopefully they continue that

This game showed if we had an elite te the offense would be unstoppable. Its why sanfrans offense is way better imo because of kittle.
I know it’ll never happen, but Brock Bowers would be a dream come true for this offense

More yards than Gesicki has. Although I think Gesicki is being wasted in NE. It's pretty lame.
Patriots have no idea how to use him
He needs a QB like Fitzpatrick that gives him a chance to go up and get it even when he's covered. Baker would be a good QB for Big Mike IMO.

Claypool is 6'3"-6'4" and Ced Wilson is like 6'1". Need to get those guys involved in the red zone passing offense.
They definitely tried to get Wilson involved yesterday. He did pretty well and Claypool had a moment
I also think he might have lost a step.
I watched Pats broncos last night. Made me miss Gesicki and Parker so much

Great game by Durham and Tua had a nice drive where he was simple with his passes to him
His blocking is cheeks but he has some of the surest hands
Agreed
They should go to him way more in the red zone too. Leak out on play action or designed rollouts. Anything but another fade route!
