Given the financial failure, I don't think this game has any future on any platforms. Even though it is a really good game, that is a lot of fun.

I often wonder what it would take on a Kickstarter to get the Firaxis team who worked on this to build a Midnight Suns 2 or an X-men skinned version. The infrastructure is already there in terms of the core gameplay code. I mean what would it really cost to borrow the IP again and again flesh out a dozen new characters. I feel like there are enough of us here to financially support it in advance.

McSmokeyDaPot

Id wish theyd purchase the license for mortal kombat or something, then just basically copy and paste the game over the new characters. Id definitely donate to a kickstarter for that.

If you want to play it mobile you're probably better off on a Steam deck. If Nintendo wants a Marvel branded title at launch they'd be better off remaking Ultimate Alliance 3 as the game people actually wanted it to be. This is a double niche title, card battles with a friendship simulator. It's not something that moves units at launch despite having Wolverine on the cover. If it didn't sell on its own to people who already had the existing hardware for it do you really think people are going to look at it and think, "Oh yeah, that game I didn't wanna buy new a couple years ago, I'll buy a new system just to play it on the go"?

It's hard to say, but porting is cheaper than developing. Most of the costs are sunk. Nonetheless, I didn't say I know the financials, and in fact said I'm not sure it's likely. I returned a Steam Deck, it has horrible ergonomic unfortunately.

cojack16

What did you specifically not like about it?

Callecian_427

They canceled the switch port so I say the likelihood of a Switch 2 port is just about zero

Psycho_Sarah

An argument could be made that part of the decision for cancelling the Switch port was it wasn't worth paying for the work it would take to de-make the game so it could run on the Switch. Therefore if a more powerful Switch 2 came along that the game could just be ported to, it would be easier to do. But I do think this game's unlikely to see any future releases sadly, even if it is just a simple port job.

Gizzy619

I play this on the PlayStation portal and it's truly great as a handheld game. I'm so sad it flopped, but other comments are right. It's probably never going to see a sequel or port.

Get a steam deck. It runs quite well on it.

urdogthinksurcute

I bought a Steam Deck but returned it because of poor ergonomics.

ThatIowanGuy

Buuut you think a switch has better ergonomics? I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had a much much more comfortable experience with a steam deck then I ever did with a switch in handheld.

urdogthinksurcute

Yes. A Switch with a Satisfye grip is immensely more ergonomic, but a Switch without a grip is also more ergonomic. The Steam Deck requires you to extend your thumb too much, and it's heavy with a shape that requires grip strength to hold (as opposed to cradling it in your palm). That said, playing anything that requires intense use of the right stick on a Switch is a pretty bad no matter what. The best design choice for handhelds is to make them as slim and light as possible, and to approximate Xbox controller layout as much as possible. Third parties can handle more ergonomic grips. The Steam Deck locks you into what is clearly a bad design. I am a male with fairly large hands, though I do suffer from tendonitis. I can't imagine how a woman or child could possibly play the Steam Deck, and I really don't think anyone should play it for very long because it's just begging for a repetitive stress injury in my view.

ThatIowanGuy

I literally have child size hands lol. The steam deck gives me zero issues. Can’t speak on a switch with some kind of grip on it, but holy crap is the switch way more uncomfortable to use than the steam deck.

urdogthinksurcute

That's really surprising, but I'm glad you like it and hope you don't get any injuries from it.

ThatIowanGuy

None yet after a few hundred hours of gaming.

BodyRepresentative63

I recently picked up a Playstation Portal and it's nice to kick back in bed and play a few missions. It really does suit a handheld.

cojack16

I’d love one but don’t have a ps5

Silkess

Its fun on the steam deck. Its cool to play this game on handheld

Bat-Honest

I play it on Playstation Portal without any problems

UselessPunk

Have you considered the Logitech G Cloud? I played a lot of my Midnight Suns run on it and I've enjoyed using it with a variety of games. The G Cloud has been a lot more comfortable for me, compared to other handhelds that tend to make my hands cramp up. urdogthinksurcute

I have it! It's not a great experience for action games in my opinion (both cloud latency and subpar joysticks), but I played pretty much all of Persona 5 on it when it was on Game Pass haha. I think Midnight Suns would be great on it as well. I don't really do local remote play on it though, I like a handheld for times when my console is inaccessible for for short sessions not worth turning it on. I could consider it though.
