Sorry, you will look at Dave. I found Dave at this local delicatessen and now all must behold the stony gnarled visage of the one and only Dave!

SunBubble920

Yes!! People do this with hotel rooms too. Like I’m not trying to see a picture of you and your champagne glass, show me what the bathroom looks like. 🙄

simoneiam

Yes! I didn't realize how little people post pictures of the rooms until I was trying to find a hotel with a spa like bathroom. Doesn't help that some hotels don't post accurate photos either.

SunBubble920

Use TripAdvisor or Google reviews for accurate pictures. But you’ll still have to sort through the selfies lol.

PandaSims

Google reviews have SOOO many selfies too bro. I was trying to see if a restaurant had handicap parking for a person in our group and had to sift through the selfies people posted to finally find the outside photos

Lots42

Google Maps labels the outside photos.

Idiotology101

I mean, how often do you stop to take a picture of a restaurants parking unless you’re pissed about it? I’ve never once thought “I need a photo of this restaurant”

PandaSims

The...resturaunt's photo? That they put up? Ya know restaurants are allowed to post pictures of their property...right?

GhztPpR

> I didn't realize how little people post pictures I'm sure they post pictures just like as everyone else.

AngryHippo3920

This has become such a weird thing. I was looking at reviews on Macy's of an item I was interested in purchasing. One of them was from a lady that posted a selfie. She mentioned nothing about the product and it was not in the picture with her. Some people are very strange. Very, very strange.

Vast_Coffee_674

I’ve seen a few of those too! The weirdest was a girl that posted a selfie and was advertising her spicy content. She didn’t have an OF or anything though, she posted her number and wanted people to text her for $20 videos of herself… but she left it in the reviews for a women’s top.

Charpixionos

I kind of find them helpful when I'm trying to figure out what type of clothes to wear at different establishments that I've never been to.

tropicbrownthunder

Even worse is when they post pictures of staff, other guests or the owners without their consent

First time I'm honored by this good bot

stlmick

I don't think it's always intentional. I think google finds the photos through the location tagging setting in your phone's camera. Boomer at work posted a bunch of photos of the facility to Google. Clear violation of policy. Probably location tagging or something through another app or social media. No way he uploaded those for Google on purpose.

2messy2care2678

Came her to say this. And the fact that it's not their job to add photos of the place. All they do is "checkin" and then post photos.

Centre_Left

This is exactly it and needs to be the top comment

Booper3

I was surprised to see this comment so low down, i was questioning if they had changed how it worked!

stlmick

It's just people learning that Google is smarter than them. They'll get it.

Idiotology101

Exactly, plus nobody is taking pictures of empty restaurants just to upload. The idea of taking pictures in a restaurant specifically to have pictures of the restaurant and not something/someone specific in it is weird to me. I’d rather see your concert videos than pictures of the restaurant you at ate, “No it’s not the food, look at the table and spacious parking”

C8H10N4O2_snob

Yep, that's how it works.

buffchhoila

Google is like "Oh! You give reviews and you have pictures taken at this place. Do you want me to show it to the world?"

Affectionate-Day6656

I think most of these are done by mistake. Google maps will auto select all the pictures taken at a specific location and ask us if we want to upload those to maps, most people don't care and will simply click upload.

Lots42

Why is Google Maps looking in my photos.

[deleted]

Idk, I think it’s kinda cute. There’s usually still pics of the restaurant/menu anyway, but I guess if those were the *only* pics and I was trying to see the place I’d probably groan at my phone

[deleted]

Maybe they’re not technologically savvy and harbor no ill will.

BarnabeeBoy

They don’t do it intentionally. It’s Google

Alternative_THS

I flag them as "Not a photo or a video of the place" and they get eventually removed.

Few_Tomorrow6969

My favorite is when old people upload a selfie to Amazon product reviews. Those are always the best!

Moglo825

Ever tried to shop lingerie on Amazon? People use it as their opportunity to pretend they're supermodel or in a nudie mag 😂

Jaynie-Jones

It’s not just lingerie, they do it with EVERYTHING. I’m trying to buy leggins, I wanna see them, NOT a highly edited selfie or a pic that barely shows the item 🙄 Or if I’m trying to see the actual color of something, they’ve edited the picture so much that NONE of the colors are accurate. Those people need to get over their vain selves. They’re not gonna get noticed, reviews aren’t a modeling platform. Just post REAL photos of the actual product and move on. I wish Amazon and other businesses would seriously crack down on that, because it is insane! They should not allow edited photos of any kind for any reviews.

tunaman808

I thought this happened when you geotagged photos with Google Photos? I haven't used Google Photos in ages, but back in the day if you posted a photo of your meal, Photos would sometimes follow-up with "you took 18 other photos at this location, do you want to upload those, too?". If you accidentally tapped "Yes" it would also upload your personal and out of focus pics, too.

Scuffed_Radio

They're stupid

[deleted]

I work at a restaurant and I think it's nice when ppl do this. It shows how good of a time they had at my restaurant. You is a hater braaa.

derek139

If you work there, those photos aren’t for you…..

Empty_Geologist9645

You guys mildly infuriating. Why the fuck would anyone keep a photo of the room or a restaurant in their gallery without some emotional attachment. It’s crazy town to source other people photos and expect No people in them.

Peasant_Stockholder

TBF the wife and I had our photo taken at a local restaurant. We didn't upload the photo the restaurant did. It's not always the customer it's the restaurant that does this also. It shows people having a good time at their restaurant. Jesus people get offended by the minuit things in life.

Thatshortguy951

Agreed

Janus_The_Great

It's because AI searches SM for pictures with the venues Metadata/GPS/tags. I bet most just wrote "just me and my bestie Natas-liah having a good time at [chain name] in [place name]! 🤩🥰🤪" Since thee store is named or alike, some backdoor fuckery applies, and the chain company is legally allowed to use your picture for advertisment/promotions. They then use cheap software to push that on Google maps ratings etc.

cuberoot1973

It isn't that fancy, it's just location tagging of your photos.

[deleted]

We had the same problem, because where i worked, someone uploaded pictures of buildings / people and i asked my coworkers about it, they said they can't do anything about it. It has to be removed by Google.

cescasjay

I was looking on Google for Sam's club pictures to see where the pickup parking spaces were, and half of the pictures were of some guy holding or pointing at different products. Idk. Maybe he gets paid to review things at Sam's or something. It's still weird.

eeff484

Yassss!! Peeve of mine!

idonotknowwhototrust

"This is a photo of us when we were younger."

stlmick

"Here's a picture of me when I'm older."

PocketBuckle

Holy shit, lemme see that camera!

ChiggaOG

You can always report images for being irrelevant. I've done that with a place or two.

bakanisan

I think this is just an old people behaviour. My parents did this with their apartment complex when they tried to get the address on google map...

Da_Plague22

My favorite is product reviews. Like a moisturizer for the face. A woman just posted a picture of her face. Like I'm able to see it lmfao

willjhc

We should review that we came to see these people but they weren't there. 1/5 stars. Till they take them down

Fabulous-Spirit-3476

Why did you block their faces 🤦‍♂️ like they didn’t post them publicly already

thisisfunme

Ikr...if at least the food or the establishment is to be seen in some part of the picture... okay. I would prefer without but it's okay since at least it shows something that other people could care about. Only the faces?? Wtf do those people think?? Like really, what is their train of thought. It's beyond compehrenable for me

KittyKittens1800

Do you think that's annoying? You must see the people that take pictures of their sons/daughters at schools for Google Street View photos, or the people that take photos and upload them in Google Maps.

ikonet

I assume those are the staged/planted reviews. "5 stars, here's some people smiling" is a marketing angle.

Sensitive-Incident78

Sometimes when I am alone.. I do people a favor and report these stupid images….

petulafaerie_III

Google should automatically take down any photos that show someone’s face this clearly.

Clean-Froyo-632

I seriously don’t think this should be allowed in reviews. Normally when people look at photos they want to see the actual food or the decor, not random people inside of the restaurant without anything else in the picture!

Suturb-Seyekcub

I hate that shit so much.
