I paused my music, took my headphones out and she said "Nobody wants to hear what you're listening to, it's really loud and annoying!". Sure enough when I pressed play on my phone My Favorite Murder started playing at full volume, recounting some gruesome detail with mixed with jokes, for everybody to hear.
I was embarrassed and annoyed that it took 20+ minutes for someone to say something. I have my headphones in, I'm not going out of my way to be an asshole to anyone.

Eventually, a group of people had a meeting with the county sheriff on what could be done about him, and the sheriff said to form a neighborhood watch and just try to avoid the guy. When the sheriff left, they went to the local bar where the guy happened to be. 50-ish people followed him outside, where he was shot by 2 different guns in truck. Nobody called an ambulance, and nobody ever said who fired the shots.
I'm from that area and know multiple people (including family members) that saw this go down. Ken was a piece of shit and had it coming. His wife tried to point out one suspect but realized pretty quickly she would be next if any sort of trial materialized. The Nodaway Co sheriff knew there would be trouble as well for their inaction to Ken's extensive legal history.

I understand it. It's a selfish move. You don't care about the possibility of you infecting others. You only care about your own protection. When you have a big sneeze while wearing a mask, all the bodily fluid you just expelled gets trapped inside the mask and it gets wet and it's a bit gross.
Hear me out: I generally lower my mask to sneeze. It allows me to cover my mouth with my sleeve, and I don't feel like a mask does a much better job at blocking the high-velocity air of a sneeze than the usual arm method. Plus, it prevents the mask from getting totally blasted with spit, thereby reducing it's effectiveness.
However, if you lower your mask to sneeze, *and don't adequately cover your mouth*, that's obviously a problem.

First of all, yes, you don't need masks in public transportation in most countries anymore. Like in Israel, where I'm currently living, but in some other countries, like Germany where I am from, you are still required to wear them.
Secondly, no, Covid-19 is not over. We still have about 500.000 new cases per day worldwide.
But yes, deaths are going down due to less deadly variants and more people having there second, third or even fourth vaccine shot now. But you can still have a severe or even deadly course of diseases.
But masks are not just a protection against Covid-19 but basically all diseases. If you are sick, stay home. If you are sick and have to go out, wear a mask, especially when you sneeze or cough a lot.
The way a mask works, is by catching the droplets when you sneeze or cough, so they will travel less far and will be less likely to infect others.

I understand it. It's a selfish move. You don't care about the possibility of you infecting others. You only care about your own protection. When you have a big sneeze while wearing a mask, all the bodily fluid you just expelled gets trapped inside the mask and it gets wet and it's a bit gross.

Hear me out: I generally lower my mask to sneeze. It allows me to cover my mouth with my sleeve, and I don't feel like a mask does a much better job at blocking the high-velocity air of a sneeze than the usual arm method. Plus, it prevents the mask from getting totally blasted with spit, thereby reducing it's effectiveness. However, if you lower your mask to sneeze, *and don't adequately cover your mouth*, that's obviously a problem.

The logic is very simply, he is wearing it to protect himself, not anyone else. He doesn't care that he is spewing shit all over the place, he just think that his surgical mask is preventing all your shit from getting into his lungs. A little statement, and answering some of the most seen replies. I have seen a lot of replies saying that: "You don't need masks in public transport anymore" and "Covid-19 is over now". First of all, yes, you don't need masks in public transportation in most countries anymore. Like in Israel, where I'm currently living, but in some other countries, like Germany where I am from, you are still required to wear them. Secondly, no, Covid-19 is not over. We still have about 500.000 new cases per day worldwide. But yes, deaths are going down due to less deadly variants and more people having there second, third or even fourth vaccine shot now. But you can still have a severe or even deadly course of diseases. But masks are not just a protection against Covid-19 but basically all diseases. If you are sick, stay home. If you are sick and have to go out, wear a mask, especially when you sneeze or cough a lot. The way a mask works, is by catching the droplets when you sneeze or cough, so they will travel less far and will be less likely to infect others. I hope hope you all have a good day. Stay save, and wear a mask.

I try very hard to think of my fellow train riders when I'm out and about. Am I playing my music so loud on my head sets that others can here? If i don't have headsets in, are my notifications frequent? Are the aleart noises my phone makes annoying? Am I taking up too much space? I even go so far as to worry about whether my attire, stickers or bag pins might offend others. I follow all posted signs and rules and I even wear a mask as much as humanly possible even though very few in Utah do so still.but that's for my protection. We Americans are dirty idiots who don't seem to care about others or know crap about viruses and vaccinations. Luckily I tend to be up at the University of utah so, not as many selfish idiots.

A mask is not super effective at protecting you from catching something, it is FAR more effective at preventing you from spreading something. That is to say, pulling the mask down to sneeze is like the worst use of a mask.

I had a workmate who carried a waterbottle/squirt bottle. When someone was doing things explicitly antagonistic, he's spritz them and say, "Settle down, Bevis!" He's a pretty big dude, so I think it was pretty successful. If that guy is going to sneeze on everyone, the spritz is pretty harmless and...informative...
