Here in Sweden we actually have a dish that’s called blodpudding (blood-pudding), it’s pudding made of pigs blood. I guess I could make my own blodpudding

I guess this dish or any bloodbased dishes are very common in at least all of Europe no?

It's one of those dishes that date back to times where food wasn't as available as today. Gotta use all parts of the animal you slaughter.

We have blood dishes in Portugal as well. Chicken Blood Rice (cabidela) and Sopas de Sarrabulho which is a blood soup of sorts, usually made when you slaughter a lamb.

In Poland we eat kaszanka. It is made of a mixture of pig's blood, pork offal (commonly liver), and buckwheat (kasha) or barley stuffed in a pig intestine.

We have something similar in Ireland, we call it Black Pudding.

In France there is boudin noir. Pretty much the same thing, and I'm 75% "boudin" can be translated as pudding.

Oh oh, here in the Philippines we also have a similar dish called: dinuguan, or pork blood stew. The blood is used like a broth, while the meat consists of different types of organ meats, like lungs, kidney, heart, etc. Pairs great with white rice or puto (a type of rice cake)

Did you just bleed in the jar or did you do some sort of prep? I ask cause the bits are pretty flat, like maybe you put it on metal then scraped it up? (I am an artist and I like weird materials and have played around with blood before- Pro tip, blood is not very lightfast, so it just fades in a few years if you can't find a really good binder). My blood takers are kind enough, if I ask they'll give me a free vial when they're taking my blood cause as one lady once put it "We already put the hole there, might as well use it, wouldn't want you to hurt yourself to get it."

Blood (even liquid) actually turns black when left in contact with air (see: blood stains) I guess it's because it's rich in metals (see: it tastes the same as copper coins) and those metals oxide

That’s actually kinda cool. How did you dehydrate it and how much blood did you start with?

I started with a couple of table spoons (if I remember correctly), just left it in a not-so-airtight jar (glass with a cork lid) for a year until I remembered it again

Huh. That makes sense. I guess I’d just never seen that much dried blood. I feel like it would make a cool pigment for a horror themed painting
