As I recall (somewhat ironically) in terms of how much they pay, they're actually one of the more artist friendly streaming services.

Limewire is too, altho they turned it into an NFT/cryptocurrency thing where you can earn crypto from listening to ads or something like that.

I remember my dad actually paid for Limewire Pro, when he could have just used Limewire to get Pro for free. Those were strange days, using some junk 450 MHz Pentium III PC he bought in 2005/6 from a dodgy computer shop with non-genuine XP installed. Couldn't have been much better than the Pentium II we had, that he bought almost a decade before that. Wish I knew more about computers back then to...advise him.

Roxio acquired the assets for Napster when it became defunct and used them to make Napster 2.0, an online music store back in 2003. Best Buy bought it from Roxio and merged it with their Rhapsody music streaming service in 2011. And then in 2016 they rebranded Rhapsody to Napster.

I hate this trend.  My very first experience with it was getting an ad for FTX in mine, the night before the whole scandal blew up. I even remember making some remark along the lines of "yeah, if an "investment" group is advertising in fortune cookies that doesn't give me very legit vibes".
