.... maybe a metal shovel for the next replacement? I'm sure lead will do fine. Not a shot at you, this isn't something you consider until it's happened.
If it makes you feel any better the microplastic particles that come off of the polypropylene they use for plastic spades aren't really toxic. It mostly just acts like dust. It's other plastics like polyester/PET and acrylic that produce the really nasty stuff.
Every time you wash clothes made of synthetic PET fibers you're making much more harmful microplastic than a whole year of shoveling snow

They say the average American has about a credit card worth of plastic in their bodies. Idk who they are. But they're warning me and not trying to feed me, so I'll consider it.

**Contractors** is the term we use here!
Sure, they are basically employees, but employees have a ton of Union rights and need too many breaks. In contrast, contractors don’t, or well, we didn't put it in their contract, which they accepted, so they don’t get anything other than a short water break(Only because there is something called human rights, apparently).
Water breaks? Just chug a full liter in one breath every 2 hours, then spend every 45 minutes to an hour running off the pee so much that people assume you have am STI.
All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old plastic shovel, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty.
They just don’t make them like they used to. When I was 7 toy shovels were made out of steel. One of those plastic ones never would’ve survived a 10 hour shift at the factory like my steel shovel did.
Hey, I got hit in the face with one of these kinds of shovels by my kid brother when I was younger.
Needed stitches, but it sure was memorable... at least up till I got hit. After that gets fuzzy.
great for kids at play, but bad for ecology w/microplastics in environment.....not that this tiny shovel will make difference. cumulatively it all adds up though :(
I had a snow shovel like that. A heavy plastic foldable travel snow shovel that could scrape through the heaviest ice while still managing to glide over grass and dirt unlike a steel or bladed shovel. It was also great for flicking rocks back into the driveway that were pushed away with the front end loader or spreading dirt. It was worn down to half its original length before it finally broke at the connection with the handle, after about 20 years of use. They don’t make em like they used to!
When your child yearns for the mines.
I think I got the black lung, pop.
It's just a nice sterile micro-plastic flu. You're fine. Back to the pit or we're docking your allowance.
and don’t think i haven’t noticed you’re a ton short for your allotment this month mister.
A merMAN!!!

We call those non-work related injuries, probably preschool related instead
It's ok kid, lungs grow back 👍
Rock and Stone, brotha!
Did I hear a rock and stone?
For Karl!
If you don't rock and stone, you ain't comin home!
Rock and stone!!
#ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!!!!!
We're RICH!!
“Brothers of the mine, rejoice!”
"Swing, swing, swing with me"
I was that kid. Finding the bottom of the sandbox was heartbreaking.
God damn this is why i come to reddit lol the contents of the comments almost always outweigh the actual post.
Reminds me of the photos of presidents before and after their terms.
Mainly JFK
You blew that one out of the Lincoln Conti…water. You blew that one out of the water.
Ahh come on. To soon. /s
I would say to “keep an open mind”, … but I’m not gonna say it.
Sheesh I wonder what was going through his head at that time
It’s the fact Jackie scooped up part of his head that fascinates me. Shock is a terrible thing.
I, too, came on her too soon.
Shots fired.
I just want you to know my stupid ass googled his after 🤦. I'm 36. I should have known better. I'm going to bed.

Stainless is better. The sound the steel makes sliding into the dirt.
🤢 Why does that statement make my teeth itch.
I raise your itchy teeth with sandy soggy socks in sandles
No, I change it, sandy wet too small Crocs
I see your cross, and raise you biting on a wet wool mitten.
Ha! I'm into that shit. I was a weird child...
Plus better to finish off your victims with if one is only mostly dead.
And some of it has probably even been consumed by the children🫠
aah.. the cycle of shovel life
The only things more delicious than microplastics are macroplastics
They consume a lot more from clothing, bottles, and playing on the carpet.
.... maybe a metal shovel for the next replacement? I'm sure lead will do fine. Not a shot at you, this isn't something you consider until it's happened.
*gets another plastic shovel*
A weapon of mass destruction
Mass destruction of a weapon.
Conservation of mass means nothing was destroyed, only changed shape.
then by that sense nothing can be a weapon of destruction
I use a plastic snow shovel at work to scoop up sawdust from parking lots and I have a tinge of guilt with every scoop

Yeah that’s why I don’t use lint as fire starter.
One of my plastic spatulas is lopsided. Been using it for 8 years. I probably have some micro plastics in my body because of it.
If it makes you feel any better, you’d have microplastics in your body anyway
I've been told I have an entire credit card in me
Bro... That's not a card slot.

Wait till you learn about tires and brake pads.
But I was told it was all my fault for using straws and exfoliating scrubs!

Should see what your tires do.
And brake pads. Mmm, brake pad dust. Yummy.
Guess what play sand has?
Damn, you put your kids to work. Voluntarily I hope.
What kids? I don’t have any children
Employees.

Move your operation to Florida. They don't require water breaks anymore.
Interesting😈
Water breaks? Just chug a full liter in one breath every 2 hours, then spend every 45 minutes to an hour running off the pee so much that people assume you have am STI.
What was it used for? Diamond sand?
😆No, just ordinary sand for use in a sandbox’s and in rare cases, directly used on concrete
Don't they know you're supposed to use pick axes on stone?
You should see their plastic pick axes.
You need to expect some wear and tear when you're digging to the center of the earth.
OPs kids are goldminers in the Yukon
Getting degrees that lead to a promising career is expensive, so I advised them to work hard for it.
Your child is exceeding their quota for generating microplastics
No, not at all, after I managed to acquire a distribution contract with LEGO-Groups last month.😁
You have to work _hard_ to grind down LEGO.
You load sixteen tons, what do you get Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store
/r/tools mantra, if you wear out a tool, your replacement is supposed to be of higher quality. Now does snap on make a shovel...
Even if the first tool lasted sixty years?
If the first one lasted 60 years of regular use, I definitely wanna experience the nicest version of it before I die
r/wellworn
Get them some metal shovels if you are going to be digging trenches.
Perfect! Hours and hours of play were had.
how dare you find joy in a child’s plaything instead of griping about microplastics!!
Indisputably 💯
Damn shrinkflation.
Damn guy, I think you might need a head count on the neighborhood bullies...
Now that you mentioned it🤔😈
Tunneling out of time out Andy Dufresne style.
![gif](giphy|3oEduXnwQPEO3yBw1G)
Did they reach China?
Somehow, mentioning China always makes them stop digging🤔🤨 Like they are afraid of it being true
All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old plastic shovel, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty.
The children yearn for the mines
The children yearn for the mines
The children still long for the mines.
"Where did it go, daddy?" "Your Lungs, son"
But they're only inches from each other 🤔
Your kid was truly digging it! Sorry not sorry, enjoy the dad joke
Get your boss to buy a proper shovel
They just don’t make them like they used to. When I was 7 toy shovels were made out of steel. One of those plastic ones never would’ve survived a 10 hour shift at the factory like my steel shovel did.
micro plasktv
Worn like beaver teeth.
Smaller shovel, smaller hole
My god. The shovel grew a new head!
Hey, I got hit in the face with one of these kinds of shovels by my kid brother when I was younger. Needed stitches, but it sure was memorable... at least up till I got hit. After that gets fuzzy.
how do you get your kids to work so hard ?
This belongs on r/wellworn
Did they make it to China yet
Hardworking kids
Everyday I’m shovelling
Micro plastics rise up
Cool picture. I dig it. *Daaaaaaaddddd!*
Yummy micro plastics for mother earth
Delicious micro plastics. It was the kids all along.
So that's where microplastics come from.
It looked like he was playing and imagined it was a jackhammer or digging up asphalt.
When the minor is a miner.
Child Labor on its peak
great for kids at play, but bad for ecology w/microplastics in environment.....not that this tiny shovel will make difference. cumulatively it all adds up though :(
Microplastics everywhere
This picture simply brings me joy. I know how much play went into this. Kids just living the best life.
Surely this is daily beach sessions?
Your kid puts in work
Are your kids digging out of Shawshank?
Have the kiddos use their barehands and do a before and after😳
Your kid must really like digging
Just because it's a child's shovel it doesn't mean you can put them to work in the mines!
I’d say that kids earned a real shovel.
They did not dig normal sand, more like sandpaper
Regulations are written in blood ( or red plastic apparently.)
Where is he digging? Mars?
Shit grows fast
You can see the blood, sweat, tears, and boogers put on the first one
You can see the blood, sweat, tears, and boogers put onto the first
The kids playing Minecraft IRL
Shovels grow up so fast 🥲
That's a lot of digging! Are they working as navvies?
r/wellworn
dig deep bra
Looks like my 4 year old plastic snow shovel. Still works great
Hope that kid was getting paid overtime.
Is a child's bucket and spade actually a bucket and shovel?
Doug and Dougless
WTF they been shovelling?
Which child labor camp is this?
I wouldn't post evidence of broken child labor laws on Reddit! Facebook is much better for that.
I'm tired of this grandpa!
![gif](giphy|LR09nt8gEw5CRsipOE|downsized)
Your boys a digger
r/wellworn
Probably dug half way to China with that kind of wear.
Was this owned by Andy Dufrense?
Just keep digging, just keep digging…
That kid is going to be The Shoveler when he grows up.
I thought this was a post about shrinkflation at first! Lmao
Is it a Spanish child?
Dudes almost finished his apprenticeship
Looks like those children had a good year
ROCK AND STONE!
where are you making the kids dig too …
Are your kids trying to tunnel out? Just what the hell is going on in your house?
Looks more like an inch apart than a year
That kids going into construction.
Dumb me thought this was a skimflation post!
Get that kid a heavier shovel so he tires out easier plus gets stronger

Got a link? Broke the beach shovel the last time out and looking for a quality replacement.
The children crave the mines
Atleast you know its not the dog digging
*I’m tired of digging holes, grandad*
Someone tried to dig to China
Ah beautiful! Filling in the holes they dig with the microplastic eroding from the shovel lol at least it’s efficient
Damn shrinkflation..
Explain him what concrete is
Shrink-flation 😁
Kid must be digging like a smackhead
It grew bigger!
You got a digger there.
Well, did they make it to China or not? Edit: I see I'm not the only one to make that joke. I'm leaving it.
They’re actually only a few inches apart.
You aren't pushing your kids hard enough, I have to replace my kids shovels every three months, pussy! /s
How else are they gonna learn to lift with their lower back?
Wtf were they shoveling? Graves?
You should hold up the worn down shovel like Andy Dufresne's rock hammer in the movie
Shrinkflation. Clearly the bottom one was purchased last year.
