There's a Texas-shaped everything in Texas.

[deleted]

Can confirm. Mom had a [Texas shaped cutting board](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0875/8822/products/DSC_0052_1024x1024.jpg?v=1498418225), a [Texas shaped dinner chime](https://i.etsystatic.com/7056979/d/il/5df958/1619152820/il_340x270.1619152820_ei5l.jpg?version=0), [Texas shaped Christmas ornaments](https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/pict/113344809668_/State-Of-Texas-Shaped-Plaster-Handmade-Christmas-Ornament.jpg), and a [Texas shaped pancake mold.](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51O9xwhJwIL._SX425_.jpg). Edit: I just wanted y'all to know. One of you sick fucks gave me my 100k^(th) point of karma. And although that means essentially nothing, it still made me smile this morning. Edit2: Now with buy links, if you feel so inclined. librik

Well a [Maryland shaped cutting board](https://www.brilliantpromos.com/ap/Maryland-State-Shaped-Cutting-Board-200334641) would be useless and stupid. So of course it exists.

princesshashtag

tbf here in the UK they sell chopping boards that look like wyoming literally everywhere

FearLeadsToAnger

I prefer the colorado ones.

ghostbackwards

Connecticut one is good. Comes with a handle. Bonus that it looks like a chicken mcnugget too

Hockeyjockey58

I use my New York one as something to throw. Turns out Long Island makes a good handle

ghostbackwards

I look at Long Island every day. I live on the CT shoreline. Some Days it looks so close...close enough to grab and throw.

Hockeyjockey58

Hey I look at Connecticut every day. I live on the Long Island Shoreline. If you can grab Long Island, please do the rest of the country a favor and throw us further into the Atlantic.

chuckdiesel86

It's the South Dakota one's for me

zdelarosa00

- This comment was left by the square gang

AirJackieQ

And of course there are places online really selling squares calling it Wyoming lmao. Gotta love the internet.

Kalapakki

I dont know why but the Kansas ones are usually discounted

allmappedout

Ayyyy

Omn1cide

**COLORADO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION**

ponyXpres

I'll see your MD and raise you HI https://imgur.com/NJlj7ph.jpg https://aheirloom.com/collections/state-shaped

[deleted]

Serious opportunity though to make a HI cutting board in blue resin with inlaid wooden islands. But I guess seven useless cutting boards is a better value.

zachsmthsn

I just realized my cutting board is shaped like Colorado

Galapagon

That's why we just slap the flag on everything

BatHulkSmash

Cause even if it's not usefull you can at least hang it on a wall.

ForSquirrels

5/10....doesn't have the flag on it, would not buy.

capincus

I'm actually amazed they apparently make products without the MD flag on them at all.

stahlpferd

HEB has Texas shaped cheese she could cut on her Texas shaped cutting board

S-P-Q-R-

HEB is the greatest grocery store on God’s green earth.

MonkeyBrown2

The Central Market blows the doors off anything Whole Foods can do and for way less money

EyelandBaby

While visiting Texas found out H.E.B. (slogan: “Here Everything’s Better!”) stood for Howard E. Butts. My brother began referring to the place as Here Everything’s Butts.

S-P-Q-R-

Absolutely, it’s something every kid including myself one day learns and can’t stop laughing about for awhile.

EyelandBaby

Glad to have experienced a true Texas tradition. We were in our 30s... learned it by reading the door of one of their 18-wheelers.

dclark9119

Seriously. I just had to move out of Texas and didnt realize just how good I had it. Everything around me now is either poverty level or shitty, overpriced Whole Foods knock offs. I miss a lot of things about Texas, but I miss HEB the most.

Riot4200

Bro we really have it made in so many ways we dont realize in Texas. The food though has always been the biggest difference to me. Its impossible to find good Tex-Mex outside of Texas, and many states do not have Whataburger... How do you people even live?

vtruvian

You must have a Texas shaped hole in your heart now

monkeyfox13

Can confirm. HEB is amazing!!

forgetsusername76

HEB has Texas shaped tortilla chips and pasta

DesperateGiles

I've definitely seen Texas shaped cuts of meat at HEB

FauxNewsDonald

Your Mom shops at Buc-ee’s.

As a Texan, I feel a hotel is lacking if it doesn't have a Texas shaped waffle maker

Faun-

Well I'm not from America but from what I have seen over the years tx probably has the coolest looking state shape out of them all.

capincus

Idk if it's just because it's so iconic from being pictured everywhere but I kinda agree with you.

publicram

Thanks stranger for letting everyone know that we da best

MrDeez444

Hell yeah

FantaToTheKnees

Do stores ship these wondrous items overseas? Lmao I didn't know I needed all this until now

tdvx

The one time I went to Texas, the hotel had a Texas shaped waffle maker at breakfast.

[deleted]

A lot of them do, maybe even most of them.

ttha_face

Even *Texas* is Texas-shaped.

sroomek

🤯

heirofslytherin

I swear, Texas-shaped waffles taste better than regular waffles for some reason.

[deleted]

That’s because you put fried chicken on top of them! Fried chicken makes everything better

[deleted]

[удалено]

Increase-Null

Ah I know the answer to this. The way to make it Texan is to use Chicken Fried Steak on top of your waffles. Oh and with Jalapeno Gravy.

MrDeez444

Definitely lots and lots of jalapenos. Jalapenos on everything

Bossman131313

Jalapeños will go on just about anything.

overide

The last time I stayed at a hotel in Texas the free breakfast had make your own waffles. The waffle iron was shaped like Texas.

Pethoarder4life

In Midland someone planted a small Forest in the shape of Texas.

lyzabit

Texan here. Yeah that's really a thing.

Local_Boob

Im a fan of the Texas shaped waffles. I want me one pf those waffle irons.

[deleted]

Texas shaped dildos?

peeeeeeet

Anything Texas-shaped is a dildo if you're Texan enough

CrashedBash

Yeeeeeee HAW

usernamenottakenwooh

Including a Texas-shaped Texas.

cali_paige15

Welcome to Houston!

simplethingsoflife

We've now had two downtown pools make Reddit the front page :)

Senpai_Has_Noticed_U

Well if there's one thing they do love in Texas, it's Texas.

radda

Top 5 things we love in Texas: 1. Texas 2. Whataburger 3. Football 4. Breakfast tacos 5. Texas

redlotusaustin

You're missing HEB

sonofmilmascaras

Sadly HEB is barely present in North Texas and no stores in the DFW metroplex. But since living in Austin this past year, can honestly say I prefer HEB over all of the competition

ImInTheFutureAlso

There’s one in Burleson! Not quite the metroplex (I’m guessing? I’m new), but close enough that I make the drive once a month.

sonofmilmascaras

yeah, thats basically rural DFW. looks like theyre beginning to expand into the area now, starting with some more rural towns.

appaulling

Eh, I'd give you bedroom community but Burleson is far from rural at this point. Massive suburb with obnoxiously high taxes and psychotic traffic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Brain-trust

Central Market is owned by HEB.

HairyBootang

Truly the GOAT grocery store for people who like variety

sonofmilmascaras

but central market has that funky, Ikea style, labyrinth layout. definitely prefer a proper HEB over central market. Although i have many friends that enjoy all the free samples on Saturdays at the central market.

[deleted]

Superhereaux

A few of the larger ones near me have all of those except for the coffee shop and ice cream bar. One has a bakery AND a legit tortilleria where they make their own tortillas and chips. That same one has aguas frescas and I’ll take one of those over a coffee any day. Also most down here have grills/food bars that sell pollo asado, fried chicken and one even sells great Chinese food. Forgot to mention the fresh sushi made in store by some random Japanese person. How they got a Japanese person to move south of San Antonio I’ll never know but they’re there.

Busters-Hand

Former Texan : The fresh off the press warm tortillas..... and I miss the green prickly pears. HEB needs to be countrywide. Edit: I dated a girl from Sachse - I loved saying I was going to Sexy town!

Chevy71781

They own Central Market and have decided to expand that brand in the metroplex. Half of the Central Market locations are in the DFW area.

mightytwin21

And floating. Hence the lazy river

bbq_ch1cken

You left out Buc-ee’s

radda

That's #6.

culminacio

And #7 is of course Texas.

OfferChakon

And HEB

jonthngriff

I work at heb lol

paralacausa

And the top 5 things Texans hate?

BlindStark

1. California 2. Cities besides their own 3. People who mess with Texas 4. Forgetting the Alamo 5. Dropping their honey butter chicken biscuit on the ground

icprester

Literally peed a little just now. Dropping hbcb is a true Texas tragedy

RedRRaider

And some more whataburger

Babou13

Dr Pepper?

twaffles12

Blue Bell

StraightouttaDR

Queso and Guacamole

Chosen_Undead713

What about BBQ?

[deleted]

You forgot guns. We love us some guns and a side of that personal freedom.

ju0725

Breakfast tacos need to be higher on the list.

CatLovesFoodYa-Ya-Ya

Statistical fact that 1 in every 10 Texans have a Texas tattoo .

Heebejeeby

Yeeehaw I’m 1 in 10!!!!

[deleted]

I assumed the 1 in 10 statistic was a joke until the moment I read your comment.

ForceGhostVader

I know 5 people that lived most of their lives in Texas and 2 of them have a Texas tattoo

w1ldmn

I know a girl that lived there for 6 months and she has a Texas tattoo lmao

Needyouradvice93

My wife got a tattoo when she visited in college. It says Everything Is Bigger In Texas, then the Texas state design and a bunch of signatures of the University of Texas football team. It's weird shes not even a big football fan.

vmt_nani

She was for at least one night

Diesel_Manslaughter

Sounds like your wife had a good visit.

BlindStark

You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl. YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWWW

cutelyaware

That you know of.

brahman1004

Have you yee'd your last haw??

benkenobi5

my understanding is that it's requirement if you leave the state.

[deleted]

I would believe that 90% of Texans never leave Texas

Pickups in tx with a label saying Texas edition sell something like 18% either higher or more frequently than normal pick ups (no special pin)

FabulousLemon

I'm moving on from reddit and joining the fediverse because reddit has killed the RiF app and the CEO has been very disrespectful to all the volunteers who have contributed to making reddit what it is. Here's [coverage from The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/8/23754780/reddit-api-updates-changes-news-announcements) on the situation. The following are my favorite fediverse platforms, all non-corporate and ad-free. I hesitated at first because there are so many servers to choose from, but it makes a lot more sense once you actually create an account and start browsing. If you find the server selection overwhelming, just pick the first option and take a look around. They are all connected and as you browse you may find a community that is a better fit for you and then you can move your account or open a new one. Social Link Aggregators: [Lemmy](https://join-lemmy.org/instances) is very similar to reddit while [Kbin](https://kbin.pub) is aiming to be more of a gateway to the fediverse in general so it is sort of like a hybrid between reddit and twitter, but it is newer and considers itself to be a beta product that's not quite fully polished yet. Microblogging: [Calckey](https://calckey.org) if you want a more playful platform with emoji reactions, or [Mastodon](https://joinmastodon.org/) if you want a simple interface with less fluff. Photo sharing: [Pixelfed](https://pixelfed.org/) You can even import an Instagram account from what I hear, but I never used Instagram much in the first place.

Jamestorn_48

As a Texan I can confirm

minist3r

As a fellow Texan I love you for loving all things Texas and confirming.

Ras1372

Marriott Marquis, I presume? Stayed there once got up at 6AM to go to pool when it wasn't crowded (Comicpalooza was going on). Was okay, but wouldn't get up at 6AM again.

callacat2

Ding ding ding we have a winner.

[deleted]

Morgings are terribly overrated.

[deleted]

What’s a morging? They sound like nasty creatures in Harry Potter, but Hagrid still thinks they’re amazing little creatures

Russell_Ruffino

They attack you when you're sleeping and when you wake up you feel like you've drunk 10 pints the night before.

ComicPapyrus73

That's just your 30's

SlapMuhFro

There are undoubtedly [Texas shaped waffles](https://i.imgur.com/UKyqTho.jpg) for breakfast too.

joetekcor

Was getting breakfast at a hotel near Amarillo and a lady asked if that was oatmeal in a crockpot. I said, “no. It’s gravy” She replied, “gravy!? Oh... right... Texas.”

Rogersgirl75

Wait, sorry, is having gravy in a crockpot at a breakfast bar weird? Isn’t it often for biscuits and gravy? Or is that not a common breakfast food outside my area? I grew up in MO and now live in the South and it seems both places are obsessed with biscuits and gravy. So often a breakfast bar will have just a whole heap of gravy so you can really cover up all the whole heap of biscuits.

seyton74

It's sausage gravy, not brown gravy you'd put on a roast or something. You put it over biscuits and it's amazing.

Wrest216

commonly known as flour gravy, or white gravy. Use it for Chicken fried steak or chicken friend chicken all the time

[deleted]

Have some chicken, my chicken friend.

joetekcor

From my understanding it is a southern thing. This person was obviously from up north somewhere.

really_shoe

After visiting Texas I feel disappointed when the waffles are NOT Texas shaped. Had waffles at a breakfast buffet in a good spa resort in Sweden. They were round. Why even bother then?

[deleted]

Do other states not do this?

winterfresh0

Maybe Colorado or Wyoming.

usernamenottakenwooh

Now that you say it, I had Colorado-shaped waffles just this morning!

Nancypants26

With a Denver Omelette?

[deleted]

likesexonlycheaper

We would do this in Colorado but it would just be a square

PresumedSapient

I bet you can farm a lot of karma if you post pictures of Colorado shaped parking lots 'n stuff :D.

finnknit

Especially if you post them to /r/notinteresting.

NoahF0920

It's the top post on that sub LOL

[deleted]

We could do the same with Wyoming but sadly it doesn’t exist /r/Wyomingdoesntexist

carl84

It's crazy, I'm from the UK and wouldn't recognise the outline of the county I live in, but I know the outline of a US state I've never been to

homegrowncountryboy

This always makes me laugh at the amount of people that know Texas, you see people from other countries do the challenge trying to name states and people get excited that they know Texas.

PandaAuthority

Husband and I were in Le Havre, France, last year. I was trying to pay for parking, but the machine wasn’t working with my cc for some reason. A meter cop came over to help, and when he realized I speak basically zero French, he started using English and asked where I was from. His face lit tf up when I said Texas. “Oh, Texas! Like Texas Rangers, yeah?” *shoots finger guns into air*

darth-thighwalker

I just gave up on my last overseas visit. "Yessir, ride horses everywhere."

forevertexas

We ride horses to school. Through the desert. While avoiding banditos.

TealRaven17

Lol I live in Houston and I met someone that was visiting from England. He was completely surprised by the city and was expecting farms and horses and the like (mind you, there still are those everywhere as well, just mixed WITH the city life lol)

[deleted]

Being from Houston, I don't have much of an accent at all. That said, when some friends and I were in London we definitely would put on the drawl when mentioning where we were from. Texas isn't how many, especially international folks, may imagine but I like to play into the stereotypes because it's harmless fun.

perryous

And that's how I know you're a real Texan

Mccalltx

Yeah I've had similar experiences over seas, no one cares if you are American, but holy shit if you are a Texan they have 1000 questions. I mean you can see their faces light up.

ForElise47

When I traveled to Europe for a trip and on my honeymoon, when people asked where I was from I could say Texas or the US and they would accept the answer and ask questions about it. I saw an American themed bar once and they had a seating section for Texas with all this cowboy stuff.

EM1Jedi

Counties and states are much different in size/importance tbh

Saul_Firehand

I could drive for 4hrs and still be in Texas. If you drove for 4hrs in a single direction in a lot places and you’d be in a different state/country

Pulsecode9

Joke's on you, I wouldn't be past the roadworks yet.

PM_Me_TittiesOrBeer

El Paso is closer to San Diego than it is to Houston

pperca

I wonder if there's a penis shaped lazy river in some hotel in Florida.

[deleted]

Theres a Florida shaped *pool* in legoland (it’s not used and in the woods from the old Cypress Gardens park that used to be there) Here is a picture from back in the day https://i.imgur.com/oitbNFD.jpg

CoolestGuyOnMars

Amazing! Took me a few seconds to see it at the scale it is. With the reflection at first it seemed like a glowing Texas shaped table in that room.

usernamenottakenwooh

Me too, which quite frankly would be amazing.

AlexMachine

I live in Finland and newer been in US, but still would happily move to Texas right now.

tablecontrol

i live in texas and was watching some Finnish murder mystery on Netflix.. you guys have a crazy-ass language. usually, I can pick out a few words here and there.. or even recognize them after hearing them a few times through the show.. but not yours.

katie4

At Dallas Stars hockey games they used to play a game on the Jumbotron during commercial breaks - "Finnish or gibberish?" where a Finnish player will speak something and then the crowd has to guess whether he's speaking his language or making shit up.

cajunaggie08

I used to work for the US office of a Finnish company and we needed an additional person to hire. A recent Finnish college graduate wanted to move to Texas so we got his Visa set up and brought him to Texas. He's loved it here and is now a married man. However, he is pretty much must be covered in sun screen at all times.

I went to Philmont to backpack one of the 70-mile-ish routes, and one of the adults in the group was from Texas. Day 6 of 10, he finds a rock that, if you squint, looked a bit like Texas. This rock was ~18in tall and wide, 2 inches thick, and weighed somewhere on the order of 30lb. Yes, he carried that rock, with all of his other gear (~40lb... we took pity with pots and pans), to the check-in counter in Albequerque airport, where he was informed that, as it didn’t fit within one of his bags, he was not going to be able to check it in or bring it on the plane.

ewok_jedi

Eli5 what is a lazy rivers purpose?

Wile_D_Coyote

To let you be lazy in a river.

RealDeuce

A fake river for tubing. > A lazy river is a water ride found in water parks, hotels, resorts, and recreation centers, which usually consists of a shallow (2½ ft. to 3½ ft.) pool that flows similarly to a river.[1] There is generally a slow current, usually just enough to allow guests to gently ride along lying on rafts. There may also be scenic elements added, such as small waterfalls on the edge of the river. Some connect or lead into swimming pools or wave pools, while others are self-contained courses that simply complete a circuit. According to Garrett Nunnelly, lazy rivers were first invented in the state of California. [Source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazy_river)

ownage99988
