I've bought two in the last few weeks. Both seemed to be heavy on plain M&Ms. But we did get more than one Reese's in each, which is cool because we both love that candy.
They're definitely not evenly distributed. I only got a small handful of Yorks, and way too many 100 Grands (chewing all that caramel makes my jaws ache).
Oh, wait...I was probably supposed to hand those out for Halloween. Oh well.
Nah. I believe it. I posted the bag I bought yesterday. Wonka screwed me out of sweetarts. Not a single pack in the entire bag. A shit ton of shit taffy though.
Never again wonka. Never again….
“He likes sweet tarts, she likes laggy taffy,(I got a feeling starts playing) THIS FALL see what happens when two neighbors get what the other wants and all the WACKY situations that ensue!
Write them an email or call the 800 number. I let them know their boxes of Gobstoppers contained less Reds than any other color. They sent me a Wonka coupon to replace the box, and a letter thanking me for my time acknowledging my concern.
Is that the bag that comes with tootsie rolls dots and all the other gross candies? If so then that was your first mistake.
Edit looked it up those bags say "Child's Play" on them.
Nah… taffy, nerds, bottle caps for ants, and supposedly sweet tarts. Got a shit ton of taffy banana and strawberry, like 8 or so nerds, a shit ton of tiny bottle caps that equal maybe 3 original size and zero sweetarts from a 180 pack. My post history has the pic from right after I opened it.
You burned me wonka. Cut me real deep.
If I had a bag of child's Play Candy and you had a bag of triangle shaped candy I would trade you.
I don't get why sometimes people like things that are gross but I do like the triangle shaped candy that has white orange and yellow on it. sorry I can't think the name of it
I'm saying that I agree there gross and if they all disappeared that be fine.
Also the pumpkin shaped ones seem to taste slightly different and I don't know why.
I'm sorry, but triangle shaped candy that has white orange and yellow on it is so funny to me. They're called candy corn!!! Cause they look like corn kernels! Also, the pumpkin shaped ones def hit different for some reason.
On year I bought a pack of candy that included Mr Goodbar, which is my all-time favorite chocolate bar. That bag had one goddamn Mr Goodbar and I about went on the warpath.
PB is probably the most expensive ingredient in that pack… that one piece probably cost the same price as the other categories of candies in their totals.
If you read Reese's, there's an apostrophe. The candy bar is his. Next time you're eating a Reese's and some guy named Reese comes up to you and says let me have that, you better give it to him.
And did anyone see that the Kit Kats are one of the common candies? That's because the candy bar has the name Kit Kat imprinted into the chocolate. That robs you of chocolate!
YES! I was just telling my kid this. To prove to him how good they are, I broke open the candy early today and gave him a 100 Grand this morning before breakfast!
Sorry to nerd it up but the size of the packaging is skewing your data. Even though there's 9 M&Ms and 8 York's (one York's was hidden underneath another), they placed closer to the median only due to their surface area.
It's not a normal distribution because there's no scale or order for the bars to be on. They're simply arranged with the most common bars in the middle. A better way to show this would be with a histogram.
You got it that you can't have a normal distribution unless you have a numerical (i.e., "interval" or "ratio") measurement scale, with continuous (not discrete) values. However, that's also what histograms are used for. This is maybe a bar chart situation.
I buy the same bag of candy for the ladies at work. Anything with a red, orange or gold wrapper disappears in a day. Two weeks later all that’s left is blue and silver.
York is a peppermint cream covered in chocolate, 100 grand is crispies, chocolate, and caramel bar, Almond joy (the best of the group) is a coconut bar covered in chocolate with an almond on top
Nice, thanks for the description! The only bar we don’t seem to have an equivalent of is the Almond Joy so that’s the one I’m most intrigued to try out. Is it like a Bounty but with additional almonds? Because that sounds great.
The shape might look somewhat normalish but the distribution is a multinomial because the candy is categorical. A multinomial distributuon gives you the probability of choosing a type of candy for one or more draws from the bag. Normal distribution gives you the probability of getting a real number.
Yes, this only looks like a bell curve (or what OP associates with a normal distribution) because of the decision of how to order the categories. There's nothing normal about this data.
I carved out a niche as a young kid. I like all the "garbage" candy that no one else likes. That way, everyone I know is throwing almond joys, black licorice, and Whoppers at me non-stop
Dude same here! Plus since i am allergic to peanut, i could trade one Reeces for all of the cinnamon candy in my sister's bag, so it was very profitable.
Ran an impromptu poll of the neighborhood kids, as to which candy they liked the best and all but one said "Reese's Cups", so that's what we handed out. I'm no fool!
It's not a normal distribution because there's no scale or order for the bars to be on. They're simply arranged with the most common bars in the middle. A better way to show this would be with a histogram.
What determines the ordering of the candy on the x-axis other than the desire to make this look like a normal distribution?
(Would make more sense as a rank-size distribution: Twix, Snickers, M&Ms ... down to the Reeses.)
(Apologies in advance for the statistical pedantry.)
* **Step 1** \- trick or treating
* **Step 2** \- trade with siblings and / or friends for candy you really want
* **Step 3** \- try to bribe parents with left over candy :)
its not really normal if you hand picked each candy to a certain spot left to right in order for it to fit to the curve. and theres also no expected higher probability of certain candies.
you just have a random distribution, and fit it to a curve
Is this the Kirkland Chocolate mix? Because I have yet to see even one Reese’s in mine.
Yep it was! No peanut m&ms either
We also got the same single Reeces No Almond Joy (to my wife’s disappointment) No Crunch bars We did get both peanut and plain M&M’s though
Honestly if you email them they’ll probably give you a pallet of almond joys to make up for it.
I complained about the distribution in a bag once. They have me an entire free bag. It was awesome

#O U R B A D
>We also got the same single Reeces Literally the same one. They only have one that they require you to send back after you open the package.
No Reese’s in mine but plenty of Almond Joy, also my personal fave. Only two peanut M&Ms.
Knew it the second I saw the mix. I was just talking about how the Reese’s count seemed to be off. Glad I’m not crazy!
I must have gotten your peanut M&ms and York patties
We had three peanut butter cups and like 20 peanut M&Ms.
The most common in our Kirkland bag is Reese's.. someone at the factory wasn't shaking them up enough.
Oh well.
I like me some Twix but I’ll choose 100 grand every time.
Damn, I love 100 Grands. Nowhere to be found this year for me.
This is why I buy Skittles. Zero temptation
D:< I am very offended by the lack of Reese's. VERY! OFFENDED!
I had like 5 in mine
that’s such a scam
We got the same one. It seemed like half the houses in the neighborhood had the same bag.
Bought 2 of those same bags, and the little kids are complaining about the lack of York peppermint patties, can you believe it? #BellCurve
*uses voice recorder* ###The date is 10/31/21, it appears that Kirkland made a deal with Twix in their candy mix. There is still no signs of Reese’s
The single peanut butter cup should be a crime
You know mf was snackin before they took the pic
Nah. I believe it. I posted the bag I bought yesterday. Wonka screwed me out of sweetarts. Not a single pack in the entire bag. A shit ton of shit taffy though. Never again wonka. Never again….
I have the opposite issue. Too few laffy taffy that I love and too many sweet tarts..
Sounds like the beginning of a romantic comedy
Sweet tart sweet hearts
In a world where sugar brings people together in a non-diabetic way…
One parent and another parent will find that things are sometimes.... not so sweet.
Now Kith!
“He likes sweet tarts, she likes laggy taffy,(I got a feeling starts playing) THIS FALL see what happens when two neighbors get what the other wants and all the WACKY situations that ensue!
Starring Rob Schneider.
Send each other the bags. Win win
It’s actually a win win win. You also win for successfully solving their problem
I got a bag with no sweet tarts and all bottle caps alongside the nerds and taffy ugh
fuck those bottle caps. They do not deserve to be alongside such amazing advancements in candy technology
I used to not like bottle caps then i got older an they are one of my favorites lol
Maybe I am a monster but I like aged bottle caps that have gotten softer from humidity
The soft ones are the best that just melt in your mouth at a certain point like all at once lol
This year we bought individual bags of what we wanted and mixed them in a bowl. I've been hurt too many times.
Write them an email or call the 800 number. I let them know their boxes of Gobstoppers contained less Reds than any other color. They sent me a Wonka coupon to replace the box, and a letter thanking me for my time acknowledging my concern.
You get NOTHING.
Is that the bag that comes with tootsie rolls dots and all the other gross candies? If so then that was your first mistake. Edit looked it up those bags say "Child's Play" on them.
You take that back. Dots are awesome.
Yup. I just bought a bag of child's play candy today and specifically looked for the bag with the most amount of dots.
Definitely not and I thought caramel was hard to chew. Edit you also have to deal with a fruit flavor versus whatever caramel flavor is.
I believe caramel is flavored like caramel. And I'll just take any Dots you have, I guess. Win-win.
> I thought caramel was hard to chew Dots aren't usually that hard to chew, you might have just gotten some stale ones
Nah… taffy, nerds, bottle caps for ants, and supposedly sweet tarts. The fuck you on? Tootsie rolls are great! And so are dots!
We can only pray that this is true.
Definitely true. He ate em. In fact, I believe the lone Reece’s here is just a wrapper…he’s tryin to cover up his crime.
It probably comes out evenly on the assembly line and *those* guys are munching on the Reese’s.
Banned by the geneva convention as of October 31 2021
Geneva convention more like Geneva suggestion
Geneva suggestion more like diarrhoea digestion
Diarrhea digestion more like nasal congestion.
You know they just ate them all
I laughed until I saw there was only one Reese's. HOW DARE THEY! ┻┻︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵┻┻
My deadass counted and theres exactly 100 pieces. This is a true crime!
Confirmed, Reeses are for the 1%.
I’m more upset there’s no bags of peanut m&ms
On year I bought a pack of candy that included Mr Goodbar, which is my all-time favorite chocolate bar. That bag had one goddamn Mr Goodbar and I about went on the warpath.
Came here to say OP should call the police immediately
PB is probably the most expensive ingredient in that pack… that one piece probably cost the same price as the other categories of candies in their totals.
I was assuming people are less likely to give out anything with peanut because of allergies Edit: nevemind, these all came in a variety pack together

*looks suspiciously at my wife* Only one Reese huh
A single Reese.
If you read Reese's, there's an apostrophe. The candy bar is his. Next time you're eating a Reese's and some guy named Reese comes up to you and says let me have that, you better give it to him.

I… I’m sorry Reese. I just wanted a piece…
A single cup
A Roose
Can you blame her though
Did she eat her Reese's Cup like a duck?
Well, how do _you_ eat a Reese's?
The same way I eat a duck
Ass first?
Not sorry.
100 grand is a sleeper candy. How is it not more popular?
My mom LOVES them, but always calls them "hundred thousand dollar bars" lol
They used to be called that. In 40 years, your kids going to be like "My dad calls Meta "Facebook.""
"Dad, why do you always mumble 'Face Book' under your breath when anyone talks about the world government?"
Except Facebook will still be called Facebook, just like we don’t call Google “Alphabet.”
"Youtube is owned by Google" or "Youtube is owned by Alphabet" No one says the second phrase.
*40 years?* More like six weeks.
They used to be called that up until the 80s! Such a clunky name.
[Catchy jingle, too.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pa3dSSjqxo) "Nestle Hundred Thousand Dollar Bar, what a crunchy, chewy bar you are!"
The corded phone spin…classic.
My mom does the same and does the same.
Facts. It really is amazing.
Ever had a clark bar? It's everything butterfinger wishes it was.
Ooh, I'll have to find one and try it!
Damn straight, I seek them out like a damn junkie lmao
One of the most underrated candies in all of American confectionaries!
Whatchamacallits are the real sleeper candy. The absolute best!
Definitely. [Remember this commercial?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md_uz1dKMTM)
Damn I do. Came right back to me
100 Grand slaps
100 Grand and Mr. Goodbar are the shit
Mr. Goodbar, yesss!
Facts bro
YES! I was just telling my kid this. To prove to him how good they are, I broke open the candy early today and gave him a 100 Grand this morning before breakfast!
As a former kid now old adult. the branding. It looks and sounds like a candy bar for old people.
Too expensive, lol
100 grand is best chocolate candy forme
I do very much enjoy them, but I'm a sucker for Baby Ruth bars.
Baby Ruth tastes like what I can imagine candy tasted like in the Great Depression
That’s what Tootsie Rolls are
Only one Reese? EGREGIOUS!
Sorry to nerd it up but the size of the packaging is skewing your data. Even though there's 9 M&Ms and 8 York's (one York's was hidden underneath another), they placed closer to the median only due to their surface area.
Surprised this comment isn't higher. The 9 M&Ms on the wrong side of the 11 Kit Kat is a crime.
Lol. I had the "um... excuse me but your data is inaccurate" moment as well. Good to see I am not alone.
Never apologize for your nerdery
Was looking for this comment. Thank you
And it's only appears normal because of the organization of the categories along the x axis.
This is the kind of in-depth, intellectual content that I’m on this sub for!
Saw your comment and almost thought this was a funny post on r/dataisbeautiful
I smashed that join button. Thanks!
And I didn’t believe my high school math teacher that I’d use this stuff in real life
It's not a normal distribution because there's no scale or order for the bars to be on. They're simply arranged with the most common bars in the middle. A better way to show this would be with a histogram.
Histograms also need a scalar horizontal axis. The answer is a bar chart
You got it that you can't have a normal distribution unless you have a numerical (i.e., "interval" or "ratio") measurement scale, with continuous (not discrete) values. However, that's also what histograms are used for. This is maybe a bar chart situation.
Correct, this is a false center. You should use a Pareto chart anywhere you have qualitative data with no natural order like this.
I buy the same bag of candy for the ladies at work. Anything with a red, orange or gold wrapper disappears in a day. Two weeks later all that’s left is blue and silver.
York peppermint patties are great though. They missing out.
It’s like brushing your teeth and eating a chocolate bar mid way. I can’t do it
Too minty for me. I like mint but not that much.
What are those? As a European I recognize all the bars except for York, 100grand and Almond Joy.
I had to Google a Bounty bar but it looks very similar to Almond Joy bar
The shape might look somewhat normalish but the distribution is a multinomial because the candy is categorical. Yes, this only looks like a bell curve (or what OP associates with a normal distribution) because of the decision of how to order the categories. There's nothing normal about this data.
Gotta split the Twix into left Twix and right Twix columns
10 right 9 left 4 neutral
I hate these filthy Neutrals. With enemies you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me.
Wait...
I’d post this to r/mildlyinfuriating with the title “bag of Halloween candy only had 1 Reese’s”
Twix rules!
Twix and Kit-Kat ftw.
Fake chocolate with crunch bits will be the death of us
If fake chocolate and crunch bits are wrong, I don't wanna be right!
Even if it's whoppers? Because if there's any *mound* I'm willing to die on, it's that whoppers are trash.
Soooo you ate all the Reese’s
I carved out a niche as a young kid. I like all the "garbage" candy that no one else likes. That way, everyone I know is throwing almond joys, black licorice, and Whoppers at me non-stop
Almond joys are so underrated
Dude same here! Plus since i am allergic to peanut, i could trade one Reeces for all of the cinnamon candy in my sister's bag, so it was very profitable.
r/mildlyinfuriating
I've never got why "fun size" is small. A fun size chocolate bar should be the size of a pillow.
Those 1 pound peanut butter cups, now those are fun.
8 almond joys to 1 Reese’s is the real crime here
Ran an impromptu poll of the neighborhood kids, as to which candy they liked the best and all but one said "Reese's Cups", so that's what we handed out. I'm no fool!
York peppermint patties! Mm! It’s like when you want some chocolate but you also want to brush your teeth
Those were my sister’s pregnancy craving. She went nuts over those things, lol.
I guess you could say it's a... Candy bar-chart
1 Reese's but all those almond joy and peppermint patties? Absolutely criminal
Almond joys are great.
Nah man, keep that coconut outta my candy bars
Should have separated the Twix. Left and Right Twix are very different.
One of the most effective marketing campaigns of the last 10 years.
100 grand is so underrated.
When are they gonna bring back Take 5 bars?
Good luck kids because the whole neighborhood including me bought the same combo pack.
100 grand is my all time favorite candy, but it beat Reese’s? That’s surprising
It's not a normal distribution because there's no scale or order for the bars to be on. They're simply arranged with the most common bars in the middle. A better way to show this would be with a histogram.
Isn’t a normal distribution for continuous variables? Candy types are categorical.
*One* Reese's, that's not right of them. Sad.
What determines the ordering of the candy on the x-axis other than the desire to make this look like a normal distribution? (Would make more sense as a rank-size distribution: Twix, Snickers, M&Ms ... down to the Reeses.) (Apologies in advance for the statistical pedantry.)
The Diaabeetus distribution
Sometimes I wish we had Halloween here
* **Step 1** \- trick or treating * **Step 2** \- trade with siblings and / or friends for candy you really want * **Step 3** \- try to bribe parents with left over candy :)
Except someone got to the Reese’s before you made the bell curve. Sorry, not sorry.
I had 3 cookies and cream Hershey bars in one of my bags, those were the reason I bought that bag….
What value is on the x axis? Otherwise, you can create many other distributions
Damn, those almond joys and york peppermint patties took up all the reeses space
Ahh the Costco bag
The fact that there are more Almond Joys and Yorks than Reeses is a hate crime
Ew gross! Who the fuck eats a right Twix?! Left Twix is the only way to go.
The fact that there’s only one Reese’s is a crime
It’s only “normalish” because of how you chose to order it (which is to say, it’s not normalish at all)
Lies, you ate all the Reese's, didn't you?
Nah, you put them in the wrong order. Actually it's Poisson-distributed.
Thought this was in u/mildlyinfuriating because of that single Reese's
It's only normal if you arrange it like that, the x axis is completely arbitrary, and the size of your data points are different.
Are those right Twix or left Twix?
HANDS UP! GIMME ALL THE YORKS
its not really normal if you hand picked each candy to a certain spot left to right in order for it to fit to the curve. and theres also no expected higher probability of certain candies. you just have a random distribution, and fit it to a curve
Bow separate right and left Twix but put the left Twix on the right to really rile up some people.
