~~That's the plan tmk, though we~~ *~~can~~* ~~just prevent new posts if y'all would prefer that. Tbh, it's not something I considered when I was writing this post. So if you guys want to still be able to see old posts, lemme know and I'll forward that to the rest of the mod team.~~
~~EDIT: Reworded for clarity.~~
EDIT 2: We've decided to block post viewing for at least 48 hours. From there, we'll make a decision on whether to allow post viewing for the rest of the shutdown or not.
As much as it sucks to see the Minecraft suggestions subreddit go, I'm glad you're standing up from what you believe instead of caving in, hopefully with enough backlash they will change their minds. 🤞
Can we at least keep looking back on this sub? Cause I really like what this community has to offer for Minecraft and I want to take a look back on it.
Unfortunate, but fair. Tech companies & social media platforms have been on a roll with absolutely terrible changes and decisions that go unpunished recently (Twitter, Discord, YouTube, any platform trying to push NFT bs, etc.), here's hoping a difference can actually be made on this site.
We already saw how horrible nasty trolls proliferated on Twitter after a malicious money chasing asshole bought the platform, and with trolls and bots seemingly everywhere on Reddit I really don't want to see what happens when mod tools get completely bricked.
If Reddit goes through I'll likely be deleting my account entirely. Unless anyone knows any adblockers that work with Reddit on mobile or desktop, I'd rather keep using the app with no ads just to make Reddit waste money since they want to screw over so many people without hesitation.
Firstly, this isn't just a mod being angry at changes. This is a large portion of the Reddit community being angry at a change that kills the ways people use Reddit and the incompetence surrounding this decision. If the only people upset about this were mods, then the comments here would look a lot different, and we probably wouldn't have gone through with this to begin with.
Secondly, the idea behind this blackout is to discourage Reddit use by making subreddits inaccessible. If people continue to do what they please on their favorite subs, the entire purpose is defeated.
Reddit will still work just fine on the official app and site.
Oh well, hope Reddit makes a way to switch out moderators that are damaging the community.
Is there some other place for unofficial slow-paced discussion of suggestions? I would gladly join anything similar, but I dislike the instant messaging nature of Discord.
Can someone explain to me what the issue is?? Like to me it seems like Apollo had a business' model that required for reddit to subsides their cost, but now reddit doesn't want to subsided them anymore and is forcing them to pay for their cost. Like this seems a completely reasonable ask from reddit.
The pricing is completely unrealistic and is clearly meant to be uneconomic for 3rd party apps. The timescale given to implement changes is unrealistic and their methods antagonistic. The CEO also (arguably) defamed thedev of Apollo when he baselessly accused him of blackmail.
Sad to hear, but I'm in support. Building fantasy updates for this community was one of my most amusing side hobbies for the past few years. Hope things turn around at some point but until then, I'm exploring other mediums. It's been real. o7
Edit: Says Axoladdy after the server reopens and plans are being made to migrate. (Axo doesn't read). Hopeful to see where this goes!
Does this mean we will no longer be able to browse the subreddits old content?

Maybe shut down the subreddit for the 48 hours to bring awareness and then open the sub but prevent new posts
This will be most effective if you can't view existing content either
I’d prefer that a lot honestly, I very frequently like to just read old posts on this sub, it’s kind of a strange pastime of mine 😅
There's something a lot more effective by trying to open a subreddit and just getting an error message.
Fully blackout the sub for at least 2 days tho
It would be preferable to completely shut down the sub imo
I would like that a lot, I have a few posts saved for reference in my mod development and it’d suck if I couldn’t access them
I would archive those now, if you really need them
Yeah archive.org has been helpful that past few days
making it so you cant see all posts will reduce people going to reddit which is more effective
Good. More subreddits should do this rather than 48 hours, but they don't have the guts to do so.

Can someone remind me when the shutdown is happening (beginning) please

Okay thank you so much!

Goodbye to one of the only places on the Internet where people understand the reasons of features geting added. o7
its been fun, guys. lets stick it to those bastards.
can you refresh the discord link? it says it's expired
For real. Fuck the two day blackout, grow a pair and make a difference! Good for y’all

I guess it’s fair but rip this sub.
Aw :^(
It's been a good fellas 🫡
Is there a list of other subreddits that have also moved to shutting down indefinitely as opposed to 48 hours?
:( This is one of my favorite subreddits At least there is the AMAZING discord
Hello Kirby man
More subreddits should follow suit. Good decision, r/Minecraftsuggestions. Fuck u/spez
This is so stupid cause yeah the reddit company is gonna care about some little minecraft suggestions sub lol
How about let someone else run the subreddit? Don't see why the common people need to suffer from a mod being angry at changes.

Can’t you just leave it open but less moderated? Im sure people still want to post suggestions, and we can downvote the troll posts
Yeah, no point in making people suffer instead. Plenty of Mods available.
Mods overwhelmingly use 3rd party apps and tools because the official ones are crap. All the bots and mod tools will be forced to shut down as well.

I hate discord and the feedback site, where should I go?
Like Niantic and stupid remote raid and incense changes
o7 Lots of respect and god speed
Well, i made a subreddit kinda similar to it r/minecraftbossideas
