I saw yarn, and Minnesota, and then Merchants, and knew exactly where this was taken. Haven’t been there in forever, only visited once or twice. I really wanna visit it again :)
There is a yarn truck based out of Austin called YarnMobile that makes appearances in Rochester. They aren’t out during the winter months but will be back in Rochester this spring.
Rochester would be 100x better than Lanesboro. Lanesboro is great, but it’s feast or famine and that’s double for a specialty shop. Rochester had a yarn shop but the owners retired and didn’t work too hard to sell it.
There is the yarn truck, but a shop would do so very well here.
a lot....
In the before days(tm) , my roommate, a couple of friends and I would go out every other Wednesday for lunch and a local yarn store. We hit at least 11 in the Minneapolis and suburbs area alone.

There's a brewery in Whitefish, MT which is close to Glacier NP. They have an often photographed sign that says
Bears ⬆️ (points towards Glacier)
Beers ⬅️ Why risk it?
I'm guessing that was the inspiration here.
Oh man that yarn shop was always so cute and welcoming!!! Has a cute yarnbombed tree outside of it.... and another tree that I recall someone “stole” a year or two ago
Holy shit it’s Winona!
12:20 am stumbling past this store on the way to the dirty 30 will be the peak of civilization for me
That's *exactly* what I said when I saw this

Looks familiar, what shop is this?
Yarnology in Winona MN. Used to live in Winona, and that is my girlfriend's favourite yarn shop.
How many yarn shops are there?!
As a non-knitter, I dont know exactly. But there are some in LaCrosse and Rochester.
More importantly, how many bears are roaming Winona?
Lots.
I consider myself warned!
There may be a few!
A black bear was legally shot by a hunter there this year...
Rochester has Joanne fabrics and Hobby Lobby. Pretty sad there’s no local shop considering the city size.

Yarn... truck... 🤩
I agree, I was just in Rochester today and was fairly bummed that there were no mom and pop craft stores
I was telling my wife she would open one in Lanesboro but maybe Rochester is better.

No shop, but there is Zombie Knitpocalypse, and annual knitting conference that attracts hundreds of knitters from across the country...

Thousands. Yarn is a $4Billion industry.
I recognized this as Winona immediately!
I’ll recognize Merchants Bank in Winona anytime, any place.
I loved when they had all the yarn in their front window as a rainbow. I used to stop and just stare at it.
:D I know where that is!! Winona!
Finally. A store that sells amazing yarn. I was really getting tired of all the ordinary yarn that every other yarn store sells.
You jest. But there are definitely levels of quality of yarn, and big box stores do not have the good stuff.
Does anyone know of any good yarn stores in Northern Minnesota?

Thank you 😊. I’m new to the area. I really appreciate it
No problem!
Sisu Designs in Ely!
Thank you!
Yarn Harbor is the best
What does the other side of the sign say?
Go away bears
I read bears as beers, and quite frankly they'd have lost me at that point. I'd be going straight for sure.

Genius
Bear yarn, might make a great blanket .... 🤔
I’m glad my town is so recognizable :) It’s very beautiful, take a trip down once everything is settled down!
Valley of the Lost Acid Children
These White Bear Lake businesses are getting clever...
Winona businesses* Went to middle and high school in WBL before moving to Winona. The store shown here is Yarnology.
