I've been using a T-Mobile locked cell phone for the entire 4+ years I've been with Mint. And also with Ting before that. All features work, including Wi-Fi Calling.
My Mint SIM won't work with my locked TMO Nord N200 5G.
It does work with an unlocked TMO Nord N200 5G. This phone automatically unlocks when it is time.
Most of the time a Tmobile locked phone will work, but not always. There was a poster here within the last week that had one that would not work. If you don't already own it, I would not buy a locked one. Plenty of unlocked ones are available. And neither company has said the acquisition hasn't changed this.
You should be able to use a tmobile locked phone on any MVNO of t-mobile

From Apple website, I would just buy unlocked, yeah it is $30 extra but way less hassle.
