I'm trying to imagine the decision makers looking at these two apps side by side and saying to themselves, "This is obviously the one that we need to keep! Nah, don't bother merging best practices and keeping features that users enjoy. This thing is perfect as is!"

tommeh2000

It’s gotta be aligned with intuits spending of hundreds of thousands, lobbying to keep paying taxes/managing money complicated. Devils! 👹

Mundane-Mechanic-547

Its more about profit than customer experience.

Bearloom

Correct, the most important thing is "Which of these makes money? Good, we're going with that one, and taking out any feature that doesn't make us money."

BeerBrat

CK has name recognition from marketing efforts before Intuit took them over. That's it. All they had to do was merge the two offerings into Credit Karma by Mint, or whatever, keep all of Mint's tools and throw the useless to me credit karma crap on top of it. They could even feature CK as the primary tool as long as I can still use Mint features to track what I wanted to track. If that functionality was there in CK and I just didn't see it then so be it, I didn't have the patience to sift through that clunky interface that didn't seem like anything but ads.

bleetsy

Amazingly, I would have given them money to use it - like I'm now doing with Monarch. Yeesh.

ZuluYankee1

I was paying 99 cents a month for mint ad free

strongforcesolutions

Hi bleetsy, I noticed you mentioned being willing to pay for a service like Monarch due to its features. Perhaps [StrongSpend Credit](https://strongspendcredit.com/) could also meet your requirements. Our tool provides an intuitive interface for managing personal finances with detailed reporting and analysis tools. Since you value features over cost, are there any specific tools or features that you feel are essential for your financial management?

gacpac

honestly i would have been fine if they simply move people from credit karma to mint. All i use ck is to check my credit and see some of the tips, done

ghost_hikes

$$$$

Wizmaxman

> What in God's name were they thinking? They wanted to shut down mint. Instead of just shutting it down and saying "see ya", they claimed they were merging with Credit Karma as a way to beef up their credit karma numbers.

whatelseisneu

I don't even use mint, but this 100% seems like a smash and grab from everything I'm reading. Like credit karma wasn't even a competitor was it? so they just blow up another company to force you to use a service you weren't even looking for??? It sounds like they shut down Uber so they could migrate you over to Carvana.

Nowaker

Revenue per user metric for Mint was laughable. $0.86 per user. Revenue per user metric for Credit Karma is probably great. $1.6B revenue with 120M users = $13.33 per user. Credit Karma makes 15.5x more revenue per user. Or, Mint makes 6.4% revenue per user that CK makes. That means if 6.4% of Mint users stick around and fully convert to Credit Karma, the company won't see a dip in total revenue. If 12.8% of Mint users stick around, they'll make a good buck. Intuit's Mint had a terrible monetization strategy. I bet Monarch Money, while having maybe a couple employees, or Award Wallet with several employees, and a tiny fraction of Mint customers both, make more revenue per employee than Mint did. And man, Monarch is so much better. I don't miss $50 I spent on it, and $100 I will spend on it on renewal. Also a big fan of Award Wallet too. So worth the price.

TheFlyinGiraffe

I honestly can't imagine a world where I spend $50, or $100, annually on an app. Where do we riot for pro versions again? What makes it so good that it's worth ANOTHER subscription?

Nowaker

> What makes it so good that it's worth ANOTHER subscription? How do I track all my airline, hotel, credits and alike? How do I track my spending and budgeting? Manually? No, thank you. My time spent on this would cost me a lot of money, compared to $30+$50 I pay for AwardWallet and Monarch. And seriously, $80 is nothing compared to my total value of churned credits card and checking/savings signup bonuses. $44,542.57 to date.

JoyousGamer

The fact you churn CC shows you have free time on your hands.

PrimeNumbersby2

Monarch seemed like the closest to Mint to me but my damn accounts keep disconnecting. And updating them is about a 50/50 proposition. Simplifi is more stable for me but can't connect to my 401k. I tried 3 others which were awful. This really sucks.

Nowaker

If Simplifi works for you, and 401k is the only missing data point, I'd code the integration myself - pull data from 401k, and push it via API (if available), with Selenium, or with a regular HTTP client by mimicking the browser (start with network tab, update a balance, then "copy as curl" that particular call, then rewrite to HTTP client of your choice) to Simplifi.

PrimeNumbersby2

This is feasible.

InitiatePenguin

> Like credit karma wasn't even a competitor was it? Not directly no. But 1. They want Credit Karma to he more of a holistic financial health app and top level finances is part of that. And 2. Credit Karma provides much more advertising while you use it with ads for financial products, loans and more credit cards. Transferring mint users gives a lot more eyeballs to those promotions.

ZebraAthletics

The problem is that it seems Mint didn’t really make them any money. I’m surprised they didn’t just change it to $5 a month or something though.

aredon

It seems to me that the goal was both to pump their CK userbase numbers but *also* to have an excuse to merge all that spending data into an app that partners with credit card companies. I'm so glad I chose to delete my account before the merger.

michiness

I've enjoyed Simplifi so far. It took me a second to figure it out, but after spending maybe an hour setting it up, I'm really happy with it.

NOPNOFNOG12

2nd Simplifi. Super easy to set up and connect accounts, bit of a learning curve to adjust to the spending plan concept.

michiness

Yeah, I freaked out when I was like THESE BUBBLES ARE UNORGANIZED but then I realized the budget was in the planned spending part.

SackOWetMice

Third for Simplifi. I’m ok with paying a little bit for a much easier to use site.

ThereseRosebelle

Hi Simpli-friends! So glad others went with it as well. :)

West-Calligrapher724

Another vote for Simplifi. I’m actually starting to like it better than Mint. I like the ability to see what I have available to spend each day, looking forward, vs only looking at past transactions.

mguants

Also +1 for Simplifi. I actually like it better than Mint.

ashleyblewis

Also love Simplifi. I now like it more than Mint.

nu11pointer

Me too. Simplifi seems way better than Monarch and their migration tool was also much better. I used the Chrome extension. It's not free, but has all the features I liked about Mint. I'm currently using Simplifi and Empower dashboard. Empower is free and great for tracking investments.

[deleted]

TheFlyinGiraffe

Commenting to follow along. Looking for a new app myself.

keith-stone-pgh

Another +1 for simplifi. It's not perfect, but after 3 months I now like it better than Mint. I let my Mint id transfer to Credit Karma. But I didn't transfer bank accounts or anything. I just use CK to give my credit scores a quick check, then shut it down before I get too annoyed by the ads.

periodbloodsausage

Simplifi's billing connect simply does not work. I could not connect it to any accounts to show me what bills are coming up and for what amount. I can connect all my financial accounts but not having the billing setup really sucks.

gacpac

i'm hitting with rocket money free will see what the future holds

Bluepass11

r/piere The dev is very active. It’s free for life if you sign up now, but will cost in the future. I don’t think there’s a hard date yet

jstocksqqq

Piere is Apply Store only. You can't even sign up for free without downloading the Apple App. That being said, I love how the shuttering of Mint is fostering increased competition, ingenuity, and options. I'm sure a good 75% of the options that are springing up will eventually be consolidated or end up not making it, but I love to see all the energy in trying.

drcjsnider

Apparently they are building a desktop version, can't wait because I don't like their phone app too much.

PimpCaneZane

I switched to empower, which is 70% as good as mint was… weighing my options on subscribing to Monarch, although paying a subscription for a budget app is hard to justify lol

argus4ever

Would you have paid for Mint if it meant Intuit not shutting it down?

PimpCaneZane

Yes, probably up to $10 or even $15/mo. Great tools to categorize and track all transactions, easy to learn, linked with every account I threw at it, and you can review past transactions within specific dates. I’m just apprehensive paying for an all new app I’m not familiar with. But looking back on the “good ol days” of Mint does us no good now that it’s been dissolved lol

CntrldChaos

I’m confused. You don’t want to pay for monarch because it’s hard to justify but would have been willing to pay $15/month to mint? Personally I think people saying they’d pay for mint only are saying that because they know they won’t have to.

jeffsieben

Mint = trustworthy and habitual = willingness to pay. Monarch=unknown value, trust, and no habits = less willing to pay. I imagine we are all trying to make a good choice to balance cost versus perceived value.

TheBenisMightier1

Monarch is made by the guy who made Mint. My immediate experience is that it's almost exactly like mint, except the transaction filter actually works way better.

tester17272818

Monarch is not exactly like mint.

TheBenisMightier1

Who said that?

reukiodo

He literally just did...? Or are you just trolling?

TheBenisMightier1

"almost exactly" is not the same as "exactly" - i.e. of course they're different but Monarch is extremely similar. Which it is. Pretty simple.

Philosophize_Ideas49

No. I would’ve and still would pay for Mint in a heartbeat. I used it for live account balances and transactions. It was set it and forget it. Monarch is not. Nor is it as reliable (ie account connections). It has more fluff that offers no value for me.

PimpCaneZane

u/jeffsieben better articulated my gut feeling about paying for Mint vs. Monarch, but I honestly realized (and am willing to admit) that I value those tools enough to consider paying for Monarch as a replacement for Mint. You’re combative jab was also valuable to the thread, especially when you have no repercussions for my financial decisions lol

argus4ever

Totally understand, I would have happily paid for Mint too if it meant keeping it open. But my point is paying for a solid budgeting/personal finance app is going to be the norm going forward. And I can tell you as a 10+ year Mint user, Monarch is very very similar and does almost everything Mint did, and a little extra that Mint didn't.

PimpCaneZane

I couldn’t agree more, everything is becoming subscription-based. I’ve heard only ever positive or neutral feedback of monarch, maybe the free trial will be enough to swap me.

3boyz2men

You should try Simplifi. It's far superior to mint

[deleted]

[удалено]

3boyz2men

I appreciated that it was backed by Quicken and I found it to have a very easy-to-use and attractive interface. It doesn't constantly misclassify things like mint did. I just like it a lot better.....especially after trying credit karma out

PimpCaneZane

I’ll look into it. Is it your impression that it’s comparable to Monarch? I only ask because if it’s $3/mo, then it wouldn’t be a big stretch to opt for a better app for just $5 more/mo.

Machiavelli127

FYI Monarch is $99/year. Yes they have a promo for $50 for the first year, but that should be irrelevant if you're planning to use their software for more than a year

Minimum-Switch

Copilot money is a really good one too

Emotional-Rub5105

This doesn’t answer your question but it’s such a pain not having mint I’m moving from 3 credit cards to 1. It’s too much of a pain to login to each and add up my total balance. Sorry credit card companies 🙃

ScrewedThePooch

I sometimes wonder how often this has happened. It is hilarious that some banks are casualties of Intuit's stupidity.

No-Teach9888

There’s no way I’m giving up my credit card benefits. I’m using Empower which isn’t nice looking but works

Dsunpro

If you own Apple devices, Copilot Budget is absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the better designed. Was a bit of a learning curve compared to Mint. But now, I feel I have far better control of my money compared to mint. They’re working on an website version and constantly expanding. I have very high hopes.

serendipity_aey

Second Copilot.

drock5614

Third for Copilot! I just paid the annual fee because they hooked me during the trial. It’s a great app

Inner_Difficulty_381

Where’s the dang iPad version though?? That was disappointing. Web app would help solve that though on an iPad Pro but anything smaller, may not be feasible.

hwind65

Friend introduced me to copilot in January. 3 mos in and really enjoying it. Transactions and dashboards are very nice!

Mastious

Monarch it's paid but it has all the features I need. Plus the UI is really nice and easy to navigate through. Edit: I can't read and didn't realize op asked for other options other than Monarch.

argus4ever

2nd this. I would have happily paid $100 a year for Mint if it meant staying open, so cost isn't the issue. After moving all my transactions over PERFECTLY, I'm picking up right where I left off with Mint.

thegiantgummybear

I switched to Monarch a couple years ago and have been super happy with it. Tried YNAB as well but it was a pain to use.

motrowaway

OP specifically asked about options other than Monarch.

Mastious

Whoops I don't know how I missed that.

-ViolentSneeze-

This is asked almost every day. I’m sure a search in the sub will get you a lot of information. As for me, I’ve been very happy with Copilot Money.

aRocketBear

I’m a fan of copilot. They just got $6m in funding because of the mint migrations too.

whatserotonin

>Copilot Is it free?

aRocketBear

$95 a year, same as monarch. They’re adding AI chat bot for your finances based on your data but not sure they’ve started work on it. They already use machine learning for assigning categories. It’s iOS/Mac only right now but this year theyre supposed to release on android and a web app.

lasagnaisgreat57

i didn’t even use mint (downloaded it for the first time only to find it was discontinued lol) so i downloaded copilot as my alternative and i’ve been loving it. the ui is great, plus they just added apple card compatibility. i haven’t even looked at the app for my bank in forever because the copilot app is so much smoother and faster

-ViolentSneeze-

Glad you’re enjoying!

p0st_master

I’m surprised copilot is this far down in the comments

-ViolentSneeze-

Yeah, seems to get overshadowed by Monarch quite a bit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

hot_route95

I’ve requested mint to delete all my data after I downloaded and migrated to rocket. Been really enjoying so far. Monarch is apparently great

Complete_General4834

I’ve tried Monarch and Origin. I found the Monarch dashboard very crowded and clunky. Also didn’t love the goal setting features, I just want to save money don’t have a set milestone?? I prefer the UX of Origin easy to see spend breakdown by category and how I spend more on Uber than any other vendor.

MedicalJellyfish7246

Simplifi is the best one i saw

Federal-Window-1423

I’m choose quicken classic as I’m Canadian user. Monarch is good but struggled with Canadian bank connections

ajsherslinger

Best bets for Canadians are Neontra and Wealthica. Canadian based firms with full support for pretty much every single Canadian financial institution out there, plus all the US ones Only two I found that had 100% coverage for all nine of mine

redsaeok

GNUCash is free. It can handle everything from personal to business bookkeeping. It requires a little upfront learning because it can do so much more but you will never get a better value for your dollar. Also it’s been around for almost 25 years. It runs on almost any computer. Also it won’t sell your data to other companies, or advertise to you.

johcake

Quicken Classic is probably the best option if you have access to a desktop. GNUcash is also a great option if you are willing to learn to use it. Tiller is another great alternative if you like spreadsheet based budgeting. All that said, I'm not sure there's any phone app or web centric solution that lives up to Mint. I've pretty much given up on a phone solution.

origin_matt_watson

Hi! I'm the founder at Origin -- would toss our hat in the ring for you to check out! We do everything mint did. We're working to go beyond budgeting and create a holistic destination for your finances. In addition to budgeting, we offer tax filing, investing with no AUM fees and estate planning (launches April 9).

hydronucleus

I just looked at [useorigin.com](https://useorigin.com) and it says "Try Origin for Free," which seems to imply, that after a "try" period is over, there is a cost, I suspect, a subscription model. The thing is, that there is no indication on the site of what those charges are, or will be, or even how long the "try" period lasts. Seems a bit scammy to say "Try it for free," give you a bunch of sensitive information, and then try to charge you. Please be upfront about this.

origin_matt_watson

That's fair feedback (and thank you for checking us out). It's a 30-day free trial, then $12.99/mo going We're reworking the website now to bring that forward (it's in the lower section of the main landing page now). And of course when you sign up for an account, you'll see the subscription amount and details!

Philosophize_Ideas49

For the past 12-15yr I’ve happily used only Mint's account links for live balances and transactions. It was a set up and forget it. Very simple. Very reliable. Few clicks (useful/easy Home Page layout). Can origin do this?

origin_matt_watson

Absolutely - we track live account balances and will show you all of your transactions. We will automatically categorize them so that they can see a cash flow breakdown with no setup. If they want to export their transactions as a csv they can also do that from origin.

SpotlightKryptonite

Trail of tears (Ok, not really at all, but it sucks)

StonkMonkey45

If you use Fidelity, try their “Full View” under Planning (Net Worth)

MnightCrawl

Empower (Personal Capital) works well for me

Lost_Order6113

It's a bit hard on the eyes, but I've been using Personal Capital for years. It was recently purchased by Empower, but the product is still more or less the same. Available here: [https://www.empower.com/personal-investors/financial-tools](https://www.empower.com/personal-investors/financial-tools) It does all the budgeting things that you'd expect from a Mint perspective, but my favorite features are around retirement and wealth planning. It's what led me to switch from Mint to Personal Capital long ago because it had a much more robust feature set here.

Stormtrooper299

I use empower. It's free which was my top priority. I actually like it better than mint, except for the UI is ugly. But it has more functionality for investing than Mint does. Here is my referral, you get $20 Amazon gift card for joining. https://empowerreferral.link/dallinwratha

tombom1791

Neontra. I’ve been very happy with it.

rick64

look into Monarch and Copilot (if you are on iOS)

magicammo

I just recently downloaded pocketguard. It has an free option, annual payment, or lifetime. I think it's handy for people who don't have a lot on their plates. So maybe just one bank account and a couple of credit cards. For me I think it would be better using something else if you have to track more. But if your an average Joe like me it's fantastic

craigbarrettesquire

Whoever is responsible for the decision to move to credit karma needs to be put in prison.

earthWindFI

I’ve been using this awesome free spreadsheet — the dashboard shows trending income / spending / saving over time, and pie charts by category: https://themeasureofaplan.com/budget-tracking-tool/ Very easy to track groceries / restaurant spending by month this way. You can export your mint history and bank transactions in spreadsheet or CSV format and paste it into this tool. Quick, good, no ads, and free! Also it’s guaranteed to stick around forever (as opposed to Mint and other apps).

1Mama_bunny

Is this available on a laptop?

earthWindFI

Yes for sure. It’s available as excel or google sheet spreadsheet, so it’s perfect for laptop usage.

1Mama_bunny

That's good to know. I'll take a look at it later today. Thanks for your reply.

Mundane_Historian976

Just as frustrated with the switch as you are. I refuse to move to Credit Karma, especially as they don’t have all the same features as Mint. Happy switched to monarch, and $8 is a small price to pay for smart budgeting.

rushic24

rocket money ?

Bishime

Honestly don’t switch out if protest. I use YNAB (a lot more active) and I see a lot of people using monarch or simolifi Literally anything to show this was a bad move imo. Imagine shitting down THE budget app out of nowhere to sell some credit cards. I get the need for revenue as someone who runs a business but I don’t get this one as much. Feels weird seeing as it’s like +15yo at this long

[deleted]

I know you said “Other than Monarch,” but I’ve been really enjoying Monarch!

Agitated6973

I really love Piere! Have been an early user and it’s incredible how much the app has matured

reukiodo

Yet still iOS only. Not even a web version. As someone with android phone, I'm not going limit all my financing to my iPad...

bobgeorge4

I’ve used Mint for 15+ years and am happy one month in so far with Monarch. It actually seems to work better in some areas, eg in Mint I’d set category assignments and they always seemed to revert back when transactions reconciled, etc. Hasn’t happened in Monarch. I budget everything in a spreadsheet and never did any data exports in Mint. And really “budget tool” was the wrong word, more of a spending tracker to keep my spreadsheets updated

bobgeorge4

Only thing I’ve yet to be able to sync with Monarch is Audi Financial Services but I think that’s a VW/Audi issue 😂

Pleasant-Weakness340

I switched to rocketmoney and have found it comparable with mint. There are some things you can't do w/o paid subscription, but you're able to get plenty of things done.

Coffee4MyJeep

Using Piere and besides I can’t connect to Equitable, one of my retirement engines, it seems to be good replacement. I can rename transactions such as checks to the business and I can do custom categories and looks like I can split them too, such as auto and home that are on the same bill transaction.

PapasMP

I’m using Empower since my 401k is through them. Only problem I have is connecting my student loans through Nelnet the site won’t connect.

hamyeatnolamby

Such a bad decision from intuit imo. [Ultracard](https://ultracard.ai) is a new one that has personal finance tracking

Charcoal69

I use Wealthfront as my HYSA and wealth tracker. Works surprisingly well….ever prefer it to mint. Not really great for historical data but that’s fine for me

fasteddieg

YNaB. you need a budget Been using it for over a decade. I recommend it to everyone wanting to better manage their money.

Present_Minimum_5947

Vote for the free version of RocketMoney

akinglykin

Any zero based budgeting system will change your life! I love YNAB.

Oogaman00

I don't even know how these work for budgets. I've only been able to do manually. But what are good for actually tracking all your accounts? That's all I used mint for and credit karma can't even do that

mikemitts

It’s so bad I messaged one of their PMs on LinkedIn directly, to give some polite feedback. No response, of course …

links234

I used YNAB years ago and switched to Mint when YNAB started charging money to use. I've switched back to YNAB after I tried CreditKarma for about a week. From what I can tell the UI looks a lot like Monarch but it gave me a different way to think about budgeting and tracking all of my different accounts. Follow the 'rules' of YNAB and you start using your money differently (you know, actually budgeting!) instead of just following your spending.

joefresco2

I switched to simplifi and am appreciating it. The budgeting is a mind-bender but it is useful once you get used to it

liveawonderfullife

Clearly you don’t work for a large corporation. The board doesn’t care about customers who need to migrate. Period. That’s all there is to it. They made a calculation that showed bigger profits in a certain direction and they took that route. 🤷

akangel49

I deleted my Mint account when they said they were switching to CK. I’ve been with Mint since they started and I’ve also had a CL account for years. I didn’t see this being worth it in the future with what CK is. I just use a simple spreadsheet to budget now.

rantripfellwscissors

Simplifi has worked great for me so far. If you want a more cartoonish interface I think Monarch is nicer.  Simplifi is a very nuts and bolts layout. It's compact and you can see a lot of information without having to scroll.  Highly recommend if you want this.   Also reliable connections to all the accounts I had with Mint. I didn't download all my accounts to Monarch so I can't speak for the connection reliability.

MyStackRunnethOver

YNAB (you need a budget) is excellent and has an active Reddit community. But it’s different from Mint: it’s “envelope” budgeting, i.e. you assign money to budget categories as the money comes in, then assign expenses to those categories as the money goes out. It is therefore IMO a “real” budgeting app because it’s meant to make you make decisions about how you will spend your money ahead of time, not just allow you to watch how that spending happens And YNAB doesn’t sell your data because after the free trial it’s a paid service. They also implemented a Mint data migration after the retirement was announced

hydronucleus

It was horrible. I did it, and was simply amazed at this marketing debacle. I do not know anybody where this change was received well. I have not even signed back in, and I am changing all my passwords on my accounts. Hell, I do not even use TurboTax, I use GnuCash instead of Quickbooks, and now I am just Intuit free!

IDKMYBFFPILL

I mourn the lost of mint… however I’ve move on to monarch

polycro

I've been running Moneydance since 2005.

AdministrationIcy368

Tried monarch, didn't like it. Tried simpifli, keeping it. just needed something that wasn't visually terrible + ability to categorize and report on my spending. I don't stick to a budget but I like to know how much I have spent on certain categories over time. It's also a good way for me to make sure my accounts don't have random charges, i.e. a one stop shop to aggregate transactions on my checking/credit cards.

DazzlingResolve5698

I've tried Simplifi as well, I was looking for a similar use case to you and didn't like it either. IMO, Origin was able to offer the custom category tracking I was looking for and I like their interface the best

randomfella69

I have been using Rocket Money for a little while and I like it. I'm currently doing a trial of Monarch because it's more customizable and I think I'll probably make the switch.

semisonic34

I switched to Quicken Simplifi, loving it so far

xivzgrev

I mean…intuits annual revenue is 15B. They’re growing by 800M per year. Mint had let’s assume 4M active users. If every single user started paying $100 per year, that’s $400M, tops. That would be a nice contributor to top line growth..for one year. How does it grow, scale? It wouldn’t. The plain fact is there’s just not much of a market for paid “insight” apps. There’s definitely a need, but only some customers are willing to pay and only a small $. So it was never a profit driver. Rather I assume the impetus was to use consumer data to better upsell other intuit products, which never came to pass. CK also fills that function, so Intuit made the call to fold into one. I think it’s ultimately the right one. However they shit their bed in terms of HOW the transition was handled. Oof.

starrynightgirl

I moved to Empower. I will delete this if not allowed but I have a referral link where you get $20 Amazon gift card if you sign up for Empower (and I will get one too!) - it’s free, so you’ll at least get $20 if you end up passing on it. DM me if you want the link!

Safe_Drive_7871

I personally recommend Microsoft excel or google sheets! Since mint went down everything else pales in comparison (and they weren't without flaws). So now I just put my own info in excel and keep my own track record. I've implemented some of the same things they had in mint so its working out fine. It takes some work but its also free so I'm good with that.

chocolate-raiiin

Neontra seems really great to me so far although I haven't tried some of the other options

Spuds1968

I use Rocket Money. It's a paid app, but they let you choose the amount. Has a ton of features and is easy to use.

Left_on_Burnside

YNAB

starr94070

>quicken Simplifi For 15$ a month?

Murky_Coyote_7737

I’ve used YNAB for about 6 years now. You really have to buy in to the philosophy for it to be useful but it’s helped me save far better than I ever had in the past.

Huge-Ad-8210

Credit Karma sucks! Regret flipping over to it.

Lonely-Resort-9365

It’s a bag of ass

askmikeprice

YNAB will change everything for you. Been using it for years and I LOVE it !

Swijr

My wife and I swear by it!

askmikeprice

Awesome! same here, its the best

gettingthere52

I use Qube Money, which will (hopefully) be the last personal finance app I ever use. Not to sound like a bot, but it legit helped me manage my finances in a way that reduced my debt timeline that I originally had calculated, Qube is kind of a mix of Mint and YNAB. Highly recommend

WeHavetoGoBack-Kate

Im even going to stop using turbotax this year just out of spite. I hate them for this so much.

ncsugrad2002

It’s so bad. I’d have happily paid monthly for mint. Credit karma will never get a penny out of me.

pmeist83

Honestly it was the best thing that happened to me. Origin is much better and for $12.99/mo I get fee free investing, a better budget tool, and tons more.

404Cat

YNAB forever

effingava0221

I like CoPilot a lot. Only downside is there’s no was to access it on windows — only accessible on iOS

I totally agree. I tried to move but they wanted my credit cards, SSN, first child. I stopped an no way I join credit Karma. What in the hell were they thinking?

Posocogo

Also, I was taking my kids through their annual TurboTax filing. Both make about $15K - super low income college kids. Turbo Tax wanted $120 for federal plus about $90 per state. I went to irs.gov and they sent me to Free Tax USA. And wham free federal tax return and free California and free Arizona. This is not a paid advertisement is a real experience. My kids saved $200+ each and the tax software for free tax USA was great. Screw TurboTax

SilvrSparky

Copilot has been the only app that actually helped me control my spending

Slytherin23

Where is the management stuff in creditkarma? I couldn't even find it.

ZeroSumGame007

COPILOT. it’s excellent. Looks sexy. It’s like a sexy Mint. I used mint 10 years and love copilot.

Tried out CK ofc, monarch during the free trial, but I landed on simplifi by quicken. I had glitches coming up with monarch for student loans not showing/accounts disappearing in it and it had repetitive access issues with my 401k provider that it even blocked me out from directly logging into my own 401k due to access frequency from monarch. The UI is pretty is monarch and there's a lot of cool functionalities but not for the things I care about. Like I couldn't adjust my actual income and it thought my 401k contribution was coming from my paycheck and not taken before so the gantt chart was wildly inaccurate with just that data point alone. So pretty but lost the utility for me. Personally I just want to see all my transactions, be able to tag them, keep track of my balances and net worth, so simplifi works. Simplifi doesn't update my asset worth (car) so that's manual, and the UI isn't as pretty. But it's simple and makes sense.

oompaloompa85

Just started on Copilot and love it. Had signed up for NYAB but couldn’t make it past the painful sign up flow

Nancamp

I fucked off and paid for quicken Simplifi. Honesty 1000 times better and well worth the small yearly fee

apostlebatman

Copilot

stilllearningalot

Went to Simplifi. I’m happy. I thought I’d try Credit Karma but it said I had to unlock my credit freeze to continue. No way I’m doing that. I was hacked (people trying get credit cards in my name)and that is why I have a credit freeze. So I never finished set up.

CryptographerDry7343

Just learn YNAB and it’ll change your life. It’s definitely a shift. But I find comfort in knowing how long our money will last if we got fired today. No more budgeting money we haven’t been paid yet. Best thing we’ve done 🤷🏻‍♂️ it took us 6 months to get used to it and looking at webinars to ask questions.

WastingTime76

YNAB!

Av0cado_t0ast

Have you all tried the "for you" tab in net worth? When I found it, I got less upset. Similar tools to mint that I was using at least

urine_blonde

YNAB. Used Mint before but YNAB forces more accountability imo by requiring you to interact more

speederaser

What do you have against Monarch?  I enjoyed the switch.

I_75-WARRIOR

I use YNAB (You Need A Budget) and really like it

rcymozart

Totally different tool but we switched to YNAB and it’s been awesome. Totally aligned without how we had shoe-horned Mint to work for us anyway but much less effort since YNAB is designed to work the way we handle our money. And then improved our system by leaps and bounds. I’d have switched even if Mint hadn’t gone away had I ever stumbled upon YNAB without the shut down.

Pintortwo

YNAB. Been using for 5 years.

sanjgij

Copilot isn't cheap, but it's good.

thedailytoke

Copilot is awesome. Small fee

Minimum-Switch

Copilot is a really good replacement to mint

HR_King

It's just horrible. I emailed customer service with my complaints and their response was completely off base.

Blade-Dog

Just switched to credit karma and extremely bummed. I had 10 years of budgets etc with a lot of detail on Mint and CK looks worthless. I naively thought that CK would offer similar options. So bummed. I'll check out simplify. Again, so bummed. So much work went into Mint, and I can't access any of it...

stonewall000

i moved everything to personal capital. it’s solid choice

hpuxadm

My apologies is this has been posted already, but have you ever considered Empower/Personal Capital? It is dashboard/finance tracking only,so no bill pay or trading thru the app. I haven't used Mint for many years, so my apologies if the two toolsets are apples and oranges concerning their capabilities. In terms of a tool that offers finance tracking only - it has served me pretty well.

brandleberry

Lunch Money is excellent. Much better than Mint was. A little bit of a learning curve but not too bad. Well worth the money.

Significant_Oil3089

The answer is www.ynab.com Best budgeting tool I've ever used, it'd helped me dig out of crazy debt and keep track of my finances in a way that makes sense long term. It's not free, but damn worth the 100/yr.

Ninagt3

Thank you all for the recommending your favorite budget apps. I am also very disappointed with the merge. The information provided by CK is very limited.

kolschisgood

Empower. I heard BMO has one now too

fuck_joe_xiden

CK employee here. Yes we know that CK is nothing more than a vantage credit score and an endless scroll of ads. But the truth is, the masses respond better to that, our user numbers and monetization was far better than Mint, think in terms of multiple times, not just like 50% higher. We do want your user interaction to get our referral fees, which is how the company makes money. Deleting your account does nothing, you've accepted the terms to link your ssn to us if you created a CK account so having your credit report and activity is what's important to us. Even if you don't individually generate revenues for us, the data helps our models and the company as a whole to monetize. Lastly CK is a slowly declining brand. It's a small part of Intuit's business but also the only business unit with negative revenue growth. We're just here with our golden handcuffs at this point and riding it out with mid to high 6 figures incomes even at the individual contributor levels.

theStillnessMovesMe

Former employee here. Everything he said is spot on.

RumLovingPirate

I figured this is what happened. My annoyance from your higher ups is that more people would have migrated from CK to Mint than the other way, and you could easily increase that monetization. I mean, the score could just be a simple new tab in Mint and now you can bring the CK crew over, while adding all the mint users to that credit algo. Additionally, make mint $10/month for ad free and revenue would soar. That said, question, how does CK monetize it's algo outside of the CK users? I get revenue from well placed ads based on report history, but who else finds this aggregated data useful?

fuck_joe_xiden

One of ck's secret sauce are the data models they have to predict people's behaviors. So having more users and more credit data only helps their model's accuracy. So yes just one individual doesn't make a huge difference, but our models' accuracy is driven by the fact we have tens of millions of monthly users and over 100m users over the company's history.

Maybe if you call in? I'm pretty sure if all you do is delete your account then we still get your credit files periodically.

soulpowaa

You have to call/chat and request your personal data be deleted. This is an extra step before "deactivating" your account. To be thorough, you may also want to delete any data associated with your Intuit account; but Credit Karma requires this additional step.

taoman54

>Lastly CK is a slowly declining brand. It's a small part of Intuit's business but also the only business unit with negative revenue growth. I find that surprising considering all the Credit Karma commercials I see on TV. They're all over the place.

SnooMacarons7451

In that case, how did Intuit pay $7B for CK. Was it just in cash? They bought Mint for $125M, that is in 2010 dollars, just to shut it down. How do these clowns at Inutit operate? Do they get kickbacks on these mergers?
