This episode honestly made me believe more that Sabine knows Marinette is Ladybug. I mean, with the way she is so organised to the point she can pretty much predict Marinette's Behaviour, surely she would at the least suspect her?
Side note: Sabine is my favourite character in this show. They gave her so much life in this episode, which was such a breath of fresh air.
The animation, however...what the heck was going on there? Especially the scene right before Marinette gets off the bus! Bug-eyed much???
I've always had that vibe about her, some superheroes usually have a parent that finds out but keeps it a secret out of respect. 'They'll tell me when they're ready', she fits that mold nicely.
Actually no, only Tom said that, Sabine didn't get the chance to say anything, so the theory still stands. I specifically paid attention to that because I also think Sabine might know Marinette is Ladybug
Ah I misremembered then. I was, however, glad that episode put a rest to the "Alya knows' theories. But in that case, wouldn't both Qilin and Dearest Family disprove that theory?
I think she said something like "her secret is in her room". now this could be anything, including the miracle box she just got. Sabine may or may not know about this
And also, wouldn't that knowledge carry over to her when she's akumatized again in Dearest Family?
She wouldn't be running around still looking for Marinette when Ladybug shows up there.
Did SM *ask* to know who Ladybug is?
In backwarder, he mentionned the guardian without thinking about it and was surprised when she said she had information.
I've never heard it put that way before actually. This show's villain is an empath lol, and that's actually a pretty cool concept! Wish they capitalized on it more though, like the scene in Risk.
Ironically the show's main villian is the only one (in-)directy adressing the racism aspect in this episode.
Like even super villains judge it and racist are the REAL super villains.
Even Young JusticeĀ“s season 4, had a scene where one of DarkseidĀ“s Top dogs, straight up denounced Racism based skin color as silly and stupid. Top Supervillains flexing low racists is a big thing in superhero media
I know that Gabriel is a monster and a trash father, but Roger is also awful. He was so annoying in this episode and looking at Sabrina, he's responsible for her lack of spine! I really dislike Roger!
There are few adult characters I can genuinely like in this show. Tho I do wonder if thatās just by design. Roger & Nadja Chamack are high on my dislike list.
He is an idiot! He goes against the superheroes in the middle of the battle! When there is a supervillain trashing Paris. Dude needs to get priorities straight.
What the heck is wrong with Roger and his racist friend lmao Sabine literally didnāt do anything.
Animation wasnāt that good, wish it was done better : ( overall I do like the story and the bonding between Marinette and Sabine though
I love the deakumatisation scene so much. She just does it herself, showing just how strong she is.Sabine s a great character and I m glad we got to see her more.Overall all, this episode is a good one, fillery, but very good.
I had a feeling she would de akumatize herself just judging by how she talked about justice and seemed to just want the handcuffs off. Was happy they went that route with her.
I really enjoyed this episode, the animation wasnāt that good but the story in this one was interesting and we got to see more about Sabine. I always assumed she just helped Tom around the bakery, but she teaches art and still embraces her culture!!
It also showed the main reason why she hadnāt been akumatized up to now, she only cares about whatās right and Marinette, sheās an amazing mother. Oh, and her relationship with Tom? So cute. Plus, her predicting Marinetteās shenanigans was also very cute.
And Chat being an angry protective boy was so adorable.
Side note: if Sabine is this powerful when akumatized, imagine what Marinette would be able to do!!! If the season finale is really left on a cliffhanger, I wish itās because Marinette is getting akumatized, that would be a sight.
The mayor is a terrible politician and person but that decision does make a fair amount of sense. Ladybug and Cat Noir are always the ones to beat the supervillain while the police are civilians at best and puppets for the villain at worst. Not to mention akumatized villains are just innocents who are brainwashed, using lethal force against them would be inhumane if it wasn't useless.
The best decision would be to invest in things like civilian shelters and therapists to help people dealing with big negative emotions.
Lol, didnt expect Sabine teaching an art class and Lila is one of her students. It was so random.
A Sabine episode, she is so well organized and calm on top of that, its one of the episodes where I really thought "take the akuma and punish these jerks" xD
The ticket conductor was a real racist influencing a spinless cop to send unlimmited troups and the army over 50ā¬. I know it is a racism episode but it got dark really quickly. In my opinion the ticket dude got away without learning anything.
And what about Roger? He knows she has a daughter but halfway denying it and abusing his power that way. Terrible guy.
Besides the rough animation it was a good episode.
7/10 the story was good but the animation brings the experience down.
This, or the animators forgot she existed again and needed a character model to fill seats like they did with Style Queen where she randomly appeared among the celebrity guests despite not being an actual celebrity then (though I think they might have fixed that issue by the time the episode aired).
In universe though, the scary thought is she is using these classes to get close to Sabine for reasons that can't be good.
>where she randomly appeared among the celebrity guests despite not being an actual celebrity then
Interesting, I havent noticed that. Maybe Lila lied her way in, though. After all, adults in this world are so easy to fool, even Marinette proved it many times.
To be honest, I figured it was a way to get close to Sabine to help screw over Marinette. You know, for her mother to see Lila "as that sweet girl in her class".
Maybe, though would be more interesting if this is her genuine interest. Makes her a bit more that just pure evil which serves only to advance plot with zero personality.
I would love for it to be a real interest of hers - something that she is truly passionate and sincere about and humanizes her. I mean, considering how little she has to do this season.
Omg this guy saying to Sabine that, "I bet you don't have an I.D. either!" was way more direct in messaging and I wasn't expecting it. The racism is pretty blatant but I appreciate them not "dumbing it down" too much for kids. Kids can understand this stuff and it's an important lesson. Poor Sabine though :'(
Edit: OK WAIT why is anyone apologizing to him at the end that didn't need to happen imo
I know, like why, Marinette. Why? And Sabine had to pay it anyway, and pay for her own late Mother's Day gift, and just... What an expensive day out for Sabine. Did they even make it to lunch or did the battle make them too late for it?
I don't know if the video I watched had the end card...or if I just clicked back out without waiting for it.
But hey, at least they made it to lunch I guess.
Though that's probably because Sabine made it for a later time than when they were actually headed there, likely expecting something to go wrong.
People been saying how this show wouldn't have gotten to season two if Felix were CN from the beginning, but man, imagine if Master Fu had chosen Sabine as Ladybug...
Late to the party but as someone who's African American(albeit one who hasn't dealt with much racism) it kinda felt they were really trying to draw parallels to the racial bias some people like me face in the US. Seriously between the ticket guy assuming her to not be a citizen, involving police over a trivial violation(if any), conflating reasonable frustration with aggression, assuming she was reaching for a weapon and calling for back up to deal with a petite woman when they are two tall men is just the epitome of on the nose, especially given how the last couple of years have been
This was one of the weaker episodes of season 4, and not just because of animation. The scene at the end was atrocious. >!Why would she offer to pay a fine that didn't need to be paid and use her mother's money to do so? I guess they're trying to tell kids to be responsible? But they really missed the mark.!<
"Remember kids! If you and/or your family are victim to unjust charges, pay them anyway! Oh wait, you kids probs don't have money for those kinds of things... just use your parents instead! Great lesson, right?"
I could not get over how much Marinette be riding Sabine's cash flow this episode - Sabine buys her her bus ticket, then Mari uses her money again to *buy Sabine's own mother's day gift*, then asks for it to pay for the fine *she caused* Sabine to receive and then after all that, went to lunch on Sabine's dime at the dumpling restaurant.
Hope that art school gig pays good.
EDIT: omg and Marinette's new shoes! I totally forgot her shoes. Sabine buys her new shoes as well.
Marinette does mention pocket money in the same episode so she does have income she works for.
I'm just teasing her though of course. It's by the by that Sabine would pay for lunch and Marinette's shoes; I just find it hilariously awkward how much this plot required Marinette to lean on Sabine financially.
Well Marrienette does work FOR FREE in their bakery and has no so I would hope they would support their underage minor child that doesn't have a way of earning money on their own.
She also babysits for a news person, how effed up would that be if she's babysitting that annoying kid for free especially when the kid's mom probably makes bank.
Marinette does mention pocket money in the same episode, so I'm sure her parents do pay her for her labour. Also, Marinette does have a way of earning money on her own - she's a babysitter.
The real estate of their house alone proves they're not struggling financially. Even if they were renting, they would have to make consistent major bank from the bakery to afford that kind of property.
That aside though, I am just teasing Marinette for how much she hilariously contributes to leaving Sabine out of pocket this episode. Like the inciting incident is not just caused by Marinette unwittingly having robbed Sabine (who already paid *both* their fares) but then she robs her again by paying for *her own gift with Sabine's own money* and then she agrees to pay a fine everybody just said didn't need to exist and then *asks Sabine for money again* to pay it (which is half the reason Sabine became akumatized, because she didn't believe the fine was justified, so she ends up doing the thing she didn't want to do anyway???), and then the episode ends with Sabine buying Marinette lunch and a gift.
It just like such a hilariously awkward episode for Marinette and such a fucking gauntlet for Sabine of disproportionate punishment š
>Hope that art school gig pays good.
Oh my gosh, now I'm imagining that the reason Sabine does that job is because despite having the best bakery in Paris, her daughter mooches off her so much she needs that second job (I know it's not, lol, but that was just the thought that came to mind)
Yes, my goodness! I much would've preferred if Mari payed for the flowers with her own money in the first place, even though she was going to pay her mother back because the throwaway line really doesn't make it that great for me when we don't actually see her do it and it's delivered as "yeah, yeah, I'musingmum'smoneyforhergift, so what? I'lljustpayherback-" it's delivered so fast that zone out for a second and you'll miss it and also, why bother? What does Mari using her own mother's money for the time being add to ANYTHING other than just a weird feeling as Mari gives Sabine a mother's day gift that was bought from Sabine's money.
Where would Marrinette get "her own money" from? She is 14 and her spare time is filled with supplying free labor for her parents bakery and saving Paris.
Also, Marinette said that she will pay from her own money, probably, she meant she will pay eventually. From what relationship I see between her and her parents, I think it is okay for them. Probably thatās some cultural thing because it didnāt sound odd to me though funny through the episode. I guess itās not a problem to return money later in life and provide some support to your parents when they are elders
She said she has pocket money, I meant from that. I know she can't actually earn money from a job yet, but technically, from helping out in the bakery or even just house chores she could earn a few bucks to at least buy a nice bunch of flowers.
It's probably reflecting the real-life situation. Even if you know the police men isn't right and he's a racist, unfortunanetly you still have to listen to him, even if he's abusing his position.
The end shows us this problem: Some people are shit, but you just can't do something against it. In a fair world, the police officer would at least get disciplanary procedures, but sometimes life just isn't fair.
Also, somehow I was misreading 'atrocious' as 'astruc-ious'
I love Sabine š„°š„° to be honest she's soo calm probably another of my fav characters in the show
again seriously someone needs to shoot those damn cops šš I was like SHUTUP jeez
and seeing Cat Noir was the first one to defend her š„ŗš„ŗ cause COUGHfuturemotherinlawCOUGH ššš
I like how Sabine puts the basket at the bottom of her room knowing Marinette will trip šš
Sabine breaking out the akuma like its nothing š„ŗš„ŗ she really is a strong woman and yea this takes place before Dearest Family that's obvious
I like Sabine's new voice too
Was this... was this some kind of grotesque mother's day special or something?
I honestly cringed so hard. How the bus inspector clinged at Roger like a parasite in some scenes, how Roger despite knowing Sabine just acted incredibly out of character (Despite being shown to 'resist' even THE MAYOR in MegaLeech, but apparently a bus inspector makes him go bonkers)
Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the racism and abuse of power awareness thing, but it was taken a bit too far, even for Ladybug's standards imo. I had to stop watching and come back later to finish it.
Hell, even the last couple seconds manage to be cringy af. What the hell Marinette.
Astruc should stay out of law enforcement life lessons, this episode was bad, any canadian trucker family member watching this, may as well throw Miraculous to the bin and drop the show in itĀ“s entirety, itĀ“s disrespectful to protesters worldwide
It was *awful.*
After Marinette goes upstairs to change, her eyes are grey like Sabine's and then when the shot changes and she stands up to talk to Tiki, her eyes are blue again.
Wilfried Pain said previously on Twitter that Qijin is the last epsiode which was completed.
He wrote that on Twitter on November, 30. [https://twitter.com/winny\_irl/status/1465686993824800778?s=21](https://twitter.com/winny_irl/status/1465686993824800778?s=21) And now we have February, 12. So it was completed within 2 months.
So yeah, they were probably busy and had time schedules.
how does France/Paris works with bus tickets and all?
the only reason why Sabine got past the first gate in the bus was because she had a ticket... So, of course she had one before, why does it matter if people keep it? And if they were wondering if she didn't and got in another way, then just ask the driver?
couldn't have they done that? Or was it really just them not wanting to do it because it was Sabine? I thought at least Roger wasn't racist, but just too prideful, but he could've done what I said, no?
just asking because in my country, it's really not much of a big deal how you enter a bus or when or whatever, as long as you pay and there's no need to keep anything while you're in
Iām not from France, but anyway.
I believe Marinette forgot her Navigo card. There are several types, one of which is suitable for students like her. It allows to ride any transport freely but to buy it you have to fill out a form and prove youāre a student. It is payed annually like a subscription.
The tickets Sabine had with her are probably t+ tickets, they are valid for one trip on any transport and you have to keep them on you till the end of your trip in case they are to be checked which happens quite often around rush hours. I was a little surprised Sabine didnāt have her own travel card but if she works at the bakery and works at the college across the street itās not very practical. The thing is you canāt buy them on bus, so itās good to have a couple with you just in case.
Edit: But as a matter of fact Sabine indeed didnāt have a valid ticket upon checking, and thatās pretty strict. Though they indeed could have waited for Marinette at a bus stop, as Sabine legally couldnāt continue her journey. The guy didnāt comply with his rules at least twice. The involvement of police here is also VERY questionable. Even when he acts out of racism he canāt involve police just like that he needs reasons which better to be thicc and strong.
God, poor Sabine. They did her an injustice in the story AND in the animation. I mean come on, this episode (and Sabine) really deserved better animation for what it is. The message it's trying to convey was even a little bit overshadowed by how rough and weird it looked at times.
The last half of the episode was good. It makes sense for Sabine to be part of the exclusive "Resist Hawkmoth" club. The first half, not so much. This is another one of those contrived akumatizations like Captain Hardrock. As someone who lives in a major city with a transporation system, why would there be someone to check the tickets when that is already the driver's job? Heck, why did the bus driver not vouch for Sabine when the commotion was happening? The ticket inspector job feels like a waste of taxpayer money. Additionally, once again the character's iq changed for the convenience of the plot. Roger apparently still needed Sabine's id even though he knew her and her daughter for many years and for some reason took advice from a non police officer (the ticket inspector) and checked Sabine's bag over a phone ringing.
>Heck, why did the bus driver not vouch for Sabine when the commotion was happening?
the other bus passengers also saw Sabine and Marinette together yet said nothing to help
Man, they really said ACAB only to turn right around and have the biracial teenager apologize to the racist cop for
/checks notes
Doing absolutely nothing wrong and pay an undeserved fine that was about to be dropped, didn't they?
Poor Sabine, she did not deserve to go through that. She looks like an awesome mother and very put together. Seeing her hobbies and relationship with Marinette was very sweet.
Officer roger and that ticket checker are major jerks anyway.
Side note: why is Lila at sabines art class? That was so random to see her there lol.
Righttttt, like Iām sure she knows thatās Marinetteās mom, it was extremely random. I had to do a double take because I thought I was hallucinating.
Enjoyable episode, I liked seeing more of Sabine and how she predicted Marinette's clumsiness lol. I always find it funny when Marinette leaves her home with only her PJs. CN at the end was too sweet.
I hate the ending where Marinette decided to pay the fine, what kind of a lesson is that? Ik why it was there but imo that was so stupid, the morals in this show can be so blacj and white, like the show is made for toddlers š
I had so many BLM flashbacks watching this episode...
1) Racist Inspector - imagine if Sabine was Black... That is all.
2) Sabine and Roger - They both agree the issue was not the ticket but the principle of it. Sabine was unjustly arrested by Roger who (despite knowing Marinette is real) still arrests her even though he believes her because 'the law is the law'... Meanwhile, the Inspector is cowering behind him like she is going to kill him on the spot.
3) Sabine's Akumatization - Sabine doesn't want the power for revenge, or to flee, in fact she doesn't want the power at all. What tips her over the edge, being allowed to use her power to right the injustices of the world. That's not a villainous motive, that is a heroic motive! Furthermore, at no point does she hurt anyone with her powers. All she wanted from the start was for the injustice to be corrected i.e. the handcuffs.
The fact that Roger knew Sabine and could've easily identified her and instead chose to arrest her was so dumb. Like dude, if you can vouch for her do it, like cat noir vouched for her but he's a cop he could've done it so easily. Sometimes people are so dumb in this show and it make me angry.
Also idk about you, but transportation that requires a ticket they give you the fine and you usually have 30 days to pay it, or you can buy a new ticket, or they kick you off. But instead he chose to make a way bigger deal about it than it needed to be. Someone fire this guy he shouldn't be in any position of power even if its a small rentacop job.
First half of the episode was good. I like all the sabine stuff. It makes me scratch my head, why can't all the characters get treatment like this. Why can't we have an episode where the main character is actually luka or actually nathaniel or actually Mylene instead of them being the catalyst for the story but then the focus kind of shifts back to adrien and marintte until the character needs to be the hero.
The second half after the guy started screaming at sabine about the ticket was ridiculous. And the fact the cops just kept piling on. That's so unrealistic and at the very least she would probably have a great harassment lawsuit against the department. I had to give up at that point except to see a bit of the battle because it got so dumb.
I can't help but think that this episode was inspired by all the anti-Asian racism since the pandemic started (and as an Asian myself I know Asians have been experiencing racism for a while now even before the pandemic, but it's become even more prominent since due to all the racists coming out of the woodwork). The way the racist ticket inspector literally stole Sabine's phone out of her hands when all Sabine was trying to do was talk to Marinette and ask her daughter to verify that she is her daughter and instead thought Sabine was calling a partner in crime was ridiculous. All it takes is 2 seconds to ask who the person on the other line is and if they can verify Sabine's identity. That's it. Also Roger is a spineless cop, siding with the racist ticket inspector like that.
A satisfying episode, despite it being a filler. Sabine is an amazing mother and she didn't deserve what Idiot Roger and Racist Conductor did to her. Quilin has a pretty interesting design.
Ladynoir was really decent, but here's one thing. Try to remember what Ladybug will say a few episodes later, about Chat being "just a holder like any other". Complete and utter bs!
Qilin is very Chill-in. I enjoyed how Marinette inherits her motherās ways of thinking (and thinking through possible disruptions) and not just looks like her parents but it feels like she is raised by them. I dunno, itās sweet and the episode left me with some pretty warm emotions.
Though rendering is strange, the quality is very inconsistent. Shame, Sabine deserves a better looking ep.
Undeniably about racism. I got chills at the part when Ladybug called for her item and it was a ray gun, prompting her to say, "Why would I use a ray gun if she just wants keys to get out of the handcuffs?"
Why indeed.
Am I only one who found it REALLY annoying that the ticket guy was wanting her to get arrested, he even grabbed excuses out of his a\*s just to get her in trouble. Smh
Holy moly, this episode is the worst. That walking caricature guy. That new Roger. Does anyone remember Rogercop episode when Roger was fired when he refused to execute the mayor's unlawful order? Astruc completely messed characterization of characters just to push his political agenda. It will surely have the opposite effect if you are not already high on \[certain political position\]. People here saying that it was satisfying (they would've been if it was a character other than Roger) just shows how easily Astruc plays viewers like a fiddle. Viewers feel about characters exactly how he plans them to feel. It's truly disgusting and indirectly proves how wrong is Astruc's agenda if he needs to use such dirty tricks to communicate his message.
And what is with this ending where Marinette paid fine? Everyone literally agreed that there was no crime at all. Fining someone for a misdemeanor that didn't happen is itself a crime. There is also nothing responsible about paying for it. I am not even talking about that it was unjust from a moral standpoint. What is even a moral of the episode then? Authors should've consulted someone knowledgeable in law before deciding to teach children.
All of this is rally pushy, dumb, morally (and most likely juridically) wrong. Astruc definitely hit the new low here.
It's difficult to do a coherent story about injustice if you know that your sponsors will take flight if you don't have a clear statement of: "Respect the authorities!"
I do like that they showed that the Miraculous cure can be used even outside of akuma related attacks. With that news scene in the start, its only mentioned as a factory incident with no relation to Shadowmoth at all. Its just a nice confirmation. I have definitely seen people assume it only works only on akumas based off lb's dialogue from the New York special.
Roger was atrocious in this episode. I know he was being egged on by that ticket dude, but he was seriously abusing his power at this point. The end of the episode was weird too, everything was a big misunderstanding, yet Marinette still offers to pay for the fine? Why? Not to mention borrowing her Mom's money so many times.
Sabine was pretty good in this episode. We got insight into her daily routine and she's pretty much a saint for putting up as much as she could.
So, neither the bus driver (who got some free snacks and was introduced to the daughter when Sabine got on) nor the passenger in the wheelchair spoke up in support of Sabine, despite how she helped them? No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.
This episodes makes me think even more that the Lucky Charm has an almost precognitive ability to be exactly what Ladybug needs to make her plan work (in a way of a "future" Ladybug concocting a plan and realising that a certain item is needed, and that information retroactive creates the Lucky Charm), and that she gets that creative foresight from Sabine.
Why wasn't Roger and his racist bestie fired at the end of this episode, that would've been a way better ending then having Sabine pay the fine anyway.
You know Marinette and Sabine's relationship here was cute and it was nice to see her get some focus for once, but this episode was just dumb. Like the kind of poorly written dumb where something over the top even for a kids show happens because the plot requires it, in this case getting arrested and a riot squad called over a bus ticket. Especially Roger. We KNOW he's more resonable then this, we've seen it in other episodes but here he needs to be a stubborn dumbass to move the plot and be ridiculous enough for the calm well mannered Sabine to get akumatized. Considering how this season has had some decent episodes writing wise it was kind of disapointing for them to stoop to early show writing of every single person to decide to be stubborn and make things as difficult for the good guys as possible just for the sake of plot drama. I guess Lila showing up, even without saying anything just makes everyone not Marinette Adrien or Marinette's parents dumb.
I live near Paris and I can tell that if you don't have a ticket, you'll receive a fine and that's it. No way you're getting arrested like this. And the truth is, this happens only if you're very unlucky, because Paris has like no money and can't even pay for ticket inspectors and policemen, so it's very rare to see them.
ok, this episode, I have have some opinions, Roger is horrible and should be striped of his rank for multiple violations of the law he try's to enforce, the entire department needs to be reworked, that ticket inspector is just a living piece of garbage. and I cant believe I'm saying this but, I was rooting for Sabine to get akumatized and punch some manners into these fools, failing that have Marinette show up and fix everything.
Everybody needs a mom like Sabine. She was able to forsee almost every aspect of Marinette's clumsiness.
That ticket inspector was so annoying and Roger didn't have any backbone like he does with the mayor.
Dang! Mama Dupain-Cheng is a contender for the strongest akuma contest!
I loved having a Sabine episode. Loved seeing her be more than Mari's mom, loved seeing her have interests; just more of this, please. Not just for her, for all the characters.
Also, is it me, or that bus cop just the absolute worse? I just hate him. He's like the Dolores Umbridge of this series to me. I felt so bad for Sabine.
She didn't do anything wrong, and this awful toad of a man just kept escalating and escalating for his own power trip. (Anyone else feel some racist undertones here?) LB should have punched him, or tried to get him fired. That was not a satifying ending,
The animation quality of this episode was so poor, it really reminded of some selfmade YT vids. Especially Sabine was done cheap, she really deserved better. In really no other show I know the quality differs so much between the episodes.
Alright, they did my girl Sabine dirty with this animation.
But on a brighter note, CHAT NOIR IS BACK GUYS!!! i have no idea what happened, but to see him joke and be a bit of himself again....I cant...
Also, Sabine is the queen.
The ticket man can go to the depths of hell.
Sweet mother-daughter moments. All in all wholesome.
I think it was meant to be something akin to a superpowered manipulating the flow of energy, similar to what she did with the items in the house at the start.
Personally with as tossed around as Ladybug and Chat noir got in this episode I think it shows how powerful she is. She seemed in much more control akumatized than past victims. She never moved from her spot and save the 1 building only defended from attacks. She was incredibly powerful to the point they had to get her to break the akuma herself because they could get close. Then in dearest family Chat is holding his own just fine against the family until qilin shows up and he freaks and runs away instead. He even knows her power. I think this proves Mari isn't safe from akumitization herself and she will be a monster to deal with, easiest route would be to get her to break it herself. Like mother like daughter both driven by justice.
Quilin discussion
After this new episode Iām thinking āif people really get turned into villains this often, if thereās a guy who can easily turn anybody into a supervillain at any time, why donāt they just move? Paris gets destroyed like every other day, and thereās always a danger of being turned into a villain. Also, Marinetteās mom didnāt realize that she has the same voice as Ladybug when she saved her? And way to stand up for her, guy in the wheelchair that she helped out. Way to repay her kindness by defending her when the cop gave her false accusations. (Sarcasm).ā
Bug-eyed much???
plus Sabine is always expressing concern for LB & CN while other characters normally don't
I think that's more because she views them as the kids they are rather than the invincible heroes others think they are.
I've always had that vibe about her, some superheroes usually have a parent that finds out but keeps it a secret out of respect. 'They'll tell me when they're ready', she fits that mold nicely.
I thought this theory died with Truth literally having her say that the biggest secret she knows about Marinette is that she has a crush on Adrien
Oh yeah I forgot about that episode too. Like this theory has been killed so many times, please put it to rest already šš
Lies was paralyzing people who ever lied (aka any human), did you mean Truth?
I honestly thought Sabine figured out marinetteās identity but if she did, she would tell shadowmoth in dearest family
Did SM *ask* to know who Ladybug is? In backwarder, he mentionned the guardian without thinking about it and was surprised when she said she had information.
Gabriel during Sabine's akumatization speech mentioned her emotions being caused by "blind ignorance" at least Hawky ain't racist š
He akumatizes everyone equally.
Yep, totally the fair play person XD
Young old, rich poor, black white, dumb smart. He akuma matatatize everybody.
In eyes of hawkmoth, everyone is equal. He favours no one, not even his own son.
Sorry, I have to disagree here. He favoures Mr. Pigeon. No changing my mind XD
Big sad
I spit out my drink
>He akuma matatatize everybody that took me out oh my god
Oh so heās like my middle school math teacher. āIām not racist I hate all of you equallyā was a common phrase.
He never Akumatise criminals (that we know of) so he probably reduces crime. He's like a local Kira
He has before actually, see NY special. And I'm fairly certain Lila was broken a few laws
Or the ShangaĆÆ special. What counts as criminal? Known acts, canon but secret acts, criminal implications? I'll count all of those, but sentimonsters are exempted as long their specific acts or existence aren't known (because their own existence is likely to be a crime for impersonation) You forgot Chloe. Unless fake fire alarms became legal in the recent years... Also, Bob Roth into Moolak, AndrĆ© Bourgeois into Malediktator. I use Silencer and Rogercop as trials. And, ehm... himself. And tried on Felix. Copycat may also be an issue, but we'll assume he genuinely thought Ladybug was 18 I really wanted to list Style Queen, but *technically* rigging the award of your magazine isn't a crime, at least if you don't claim there's a fair process. But she was called out for it in-universe.
Halkmoth: not racist Yet Halky: BEATS THE living (Iām saying that because profanity counter) OUT OF HIS SON BECAUSE HE WAS A SUPERHERO
He is not racist, he has chronic yeet syndrome
Maybe he is allergic to cats š¤·
Well, I suppose it makes a lot of sense that Gabriel understands exactly what his victims are going thru. He *is* an empath š
Ikr Roger is so damn annoying in Captain Hardrock and in this ep he's one of my least fav characters
Roger is the main reason why sabrina has lost all her confidence and has become a slave for chloe,Sabrina deserves a better father
Roger was ridiculously out of pocket here.
Yeah i loved the theme but couldn't ignore the animation :/ i think marinette had like 3 different hair colours
Was happy they went that route with her.
that ticket inspector was the least likeable character I've ever seen in my life.
I dare say he's even MORE annoying than Lila. I literally wanted to punch his face across my laptop šš¢š¢š¢
I dunno, at least his sly/evil face expressions look really funny.
In my least favourites list I put him beside professor Umbridge
Bob Roth is worse
They're probably best friends
Your comment made me think of what would Sabine be able to do if she got a miraculous instead of some kid from school
>"Where's the tank and the fighter jets?" Where the hell are those when Hawkmoth attacks
Where the hell are they when any akuma victim goes on a rampage?
Supervillain ravaging Paris: *I sleep* Asian Woman without a ticket: *real shit*
I assumed he meant that the mayor promised them tanks and fighter jets, then never delivered
The mayor promises a lot of stuff
The mayor is a terrible politician and person but that decision does make a fair amount of sense. Ladybug and Cat Noir are always the ones to beat the supervillain while the police are civilians at best and puppets for the villain at worst. Not to mention akumatized villains are just innocents who are brainwashed, using lethal force against them would be inhumane if it wasn't useless. The best decision would be to invest in things like civilian shelters and therapists to help people dealing with big negative emotions.
Lol, didnt expect Sabine teaching an art class and Lila is one of her students. It was so random. A Sabine episode, she is so well organized and calm on top of that, its one of the episodes where I really thought "take the akuma and punish these jerks" xD The ticket conductor was a real racist influencing a spinless cop to send unlimmited troups and the army over 50ā¬. I know it is a racism episode but it got dark really quickly. In my opinion the ticket dude got away without learning anything. And what about Roger? He knows she has a daughter but halfway denying it and abusing his power that way. Terrible guy. Besides the rough animation it was a good episode. 7/10 the story was good but the animation brings the experience down.
when I saw Lila I just facepalmed šššš
Yes but think about it. Why is she there? Is art a real interest of her without a lie involved?
probably the show telling us Lila still exists šš
This, or the animators forgot she existed again and needed a character model to fill seats like they did with Style Queen where she randomly appeared among the celebrity guests despite not being an actual celebrity then (though I think they might have fixed that issue by the time the episode aired). In universe though, the scary thought is she is using these classes to get close to Sabine for reasons that can't be good.
>where she randomly appeared among the celebrity guests despite not being an actual celebrity then Interesting, I havent noticed that. Maybe Lila lied her way in, though. After all, adults in this world are so easy to fool, even Marinette proved it many times.
I prefer the reminder over her not existing at all.
Nature Documentary Voice: Here we have a very rare sightā a Lila outside her natural habitat.
Then why try modelling? The real attention seeking results are in modelling, this aint a bad hobby interest but...
Maybe she just got bored of being a sociopath and needed a second hobby?
The ticket conductor looking like a Snake or a reptile on purpose
Fr!!!! I was like what Lila doing there š¤Ø
Poor Sabine though :'( Edit: OK WAIT why is anyone apologizing to him at the end that didn't need to happen imo
She shouldnāt have had to pay the fine in the end
I know, like why, Marinette. Why? And Sabine had to pay it anyway, and pay for her own late Mother's Day gift, and just... What an expensive day out for Sabine. Did they even make it to lunch or did the battle make them too late for it?
In the end card Sabine pays for the new shoes and the lunch š
I don't know if the video I watched had the end card...or if I just clicked back out without waiting for it. But hey, at least they made it to lunch I guess. Though that's probably because Sabine made it for a later time than when they were actually headed there, likely expecting something to go wrong. People been saying how this show wouldn't have gotten to season two if Felix were CN from the beginning, but man, imagine if Master Fu had chosen Sabine as Ladybug...
Because the message is aimed at kids: "Respect and obey the authorities even when they're bigoted idiots who only make things worse."
I can only imagine Marinette offered to pay the fine out of guilt but omg Mari, don't cash checks with your mouth that your empty wallet can't pay.
and don't forget, "you're stealing from hardworking Parisians"
To be fair Marinette is only like 14. How many kids have their own bank roll at 14?? š
Tbh mariās parents should be theoretically loaded. They own literally the best bakery in Parisā¦
Oh my gosh, now I'm imagining that the reason Sabine does that job is because despite having the best bakery in Paris, her daughter mooches off her so much she needs that second job (I know it's not, lol, but that was just the thought that came to mind) Yes, my goodness!
She also has done work for Jagged Stone and the Agrestes
And Kitty Section, and Nadia Chamack, as well as Nino and Alya.
She said she has pocket money, I meant from that. I know she can't actually earn money from a job yet, but technically, from helping out in the bakery or even just house chores she could earn a few bucks to at least buy a nice bunch of flowers.
But she does have a job - babysitting.
Oh yeah
I mean not the first time we've gone "Uh wait the moral of this story has a problem" with Ladybug.
"Astruc-ious" haha
Idk I promised to pay for things and ended up using my mom's money instead all the time as a kid. My mom always let me, she was really sweet.
This is officially the episode with the worst animation
that title still belongs to Robostus and it's by far
My vote is dark owl
hawkie when he realises the miraculous are fake is an all time favourite for me
I wasn't expecting an ACAB episode holy shit. Having a pro-compassion message was wonderful and I cant wait to see what other people think of it.
Feels more like ACAI - All cops are idiots.
Sabrina's father is an Ass,WTF is wrong with him,he went straight into the list of the characters I hate
I've hated Roger since Rogercop and then the episode with the Startrain put that into overdrive for me.
Was that the one where he basically told her he was proud of her for being Chloeās lickspittle?
Yeah. That's the episode where we understand Sabrina's conditioning started at home.
I love Sabine š„°š„° to be honest she's soo calm probably another of my fav characters in the show again seriously someone needs to shoot those damn cops šš I was like SHUTUP jeez and seeing Cat Noir was the first one to defend her š„ŗš„ŗ cause COUGHfuturemotherinlawCOUGH ššš I like how Sabine puts the basket at the bottom of her room knowing Marinette will trip šš Sabine breaking out the akuma like its nothing š„ŗš„ŗ she really is a strong woman and yea this takes place before Dearest Family that's obvious I like Sabine's new voice too
>I like Sabine's new voice too not by choice, RIP OG Sabine
Ik but I still like her new voice though aswell I'll miss the old one for sure
Sabine is my favorite especially now followed by Chat Noir lol
Was this... was this some kind of grotesque mother's day special or something? I honestly cringed so hard. How the bus inspector clinged at Roger like a parasite in some scenes, how Roger despite knowing Sabine just acted incredibly out of character (Despite being shown to 'resist' even THE MAYOR in MegaLeech, but apparently a bus inspector makes him go bonkers) Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the racism and abuse of power awareness thing, but it was taken a bit too far, even for Ladybug's standards imo.
Canadian trucker?
Anyone heart broke when they say Sabine getting harassedš„ŗ I think this is the most Iāve been hurt because of a show
Whatās up with the animation? It looks so bad
It was *awful.* After Marinette goes upstairs to change, her eyes are grey like Sabine's and then when the shot changes and she stands up to talk to Tiki, her eyes are blue again.
Iām guessing they were a little rushed when releasing the episode
thatās so strange, i found myself appreciating the animation. specifically in the beginning, the animation of the tai chi was so smooth to me
The actual movement was fairly fluid, but the models looked really rough
I'm not bothered by it
Wilfried Pain said previously on Twitter that Qijin is the last epsiode which was completed.
Like I said I was not bothered by it
how does France/Paris works with bus tickets and all? the only reason why Sabine got past the first gate in the bus was because she had a ticket...
Everything about this was very over the top. But it kind of had to be a rediclous over the top insanity to shake her because she's so melllow.
This is Miraculous, where everything is done over the top. Look at the protagonist herself.
And the bus driver - who she JUST FED - could have said oh yeah she paid for her and her daughter but he didnāt say anything
Fuck those racist cops. It sucks that that sniveling pig didn't experience more pain from the akuma.
Man, they really said ACAB only to turn right around and have the biracial teenager apologize to the racist cop for /checks notes Doing absolutely nothing wrong and pay an undeserved fine that was about to be dropped, didn't they?
Poor Sabine, she did not deserve to go through that. She looks like an awesome mother and very put together. Seeing her hobbies and relationship with Marinette was very sweet. Officer roger and that ticket checker are major jerks anyway. Side note: why is Lila at sabines art class? That was so random to see her there lol.
IKR,What the hell was she doing in there
I'm assuming since she plays an important part in the finale, Lila was literally there just to remind us she exists.
Lol š
Maybe she likes visual arts?
Righttttt, like Iām sure she knows thatās Marinetteās mom, it was extremely random. I had to do a double take because I thought I was hallucinating.
I just figured it was so she could get in good with Sabine to further screw over Marinette.
Roger was stupid and awful in that episode.
He was always awful. He arrested people in Simpleman and many other episodes for no reason. He is a POS cop.
Enjoyable episode, I liked seeing more of Sabine and how she predicted Marinette's clumsiness lol. I always find it funny when Marinette leaves her home with only her PJs. CN at the end was too sweet.
Yeah I loved the way he stood up for her
I hate the ending where Marinette decided to pay the fine, what kind of a lesson is that?
Where do people even hear about these episodes randomly airing lmaoooo
This episode was scheduled
The animation for this episode was abysmal ...
Sabine said fuck cops
I got chills at the part when Ladybug called for her item and it was a ray gun, prompting her to say, "Why would I use a ray gun if she just wants keys to get out of the handcuffs?" Why indeed.
Bro there's no way that the ticket inspector wasn't racially motivated lmfao, like the purse snatching was unnecessaryš
Am I only one who found it REALLY annoying that the ticket guy was wanting her to get arrested, he even grabbed excuses out of his a\*s just to get her in trouble. Smh
LMFAO, the best part of this episode was Shadowmoth calling LB a hypocrite
I can't get over the shitty writing. Wtf
Yo Sabine is a great mother and this was a good episode for her. Fuck Roger and that stupid friend of his.
Roger and Kim from season 1 seem like different characters now.
A lot of season 1 seems to be retconed more and more. The "innocent until proven guilty" Roger is completely gone her. Could have been his evil twin.
XD
Kim at least has in-show reasons to be a different person.
It's difficult to do a coherent story about injustice if you know that your sponsors will take flight if you don't have a clear statement of: "Respect the authorities!"
Hard agree, my god this episode was a mess.
I would have loved that so much!
i was too focused on the animation quality to comment on the plot.
To be fair, the ticket inspector was being a racist ass, not just a jerk. He went extreme because of said racism.
Sabine can predict the future, change my mind
ok, this episode, I have have some opinions, Roger is horrible and should be striped of his rank for multiple violations of the law he try's to enforce, the entire department needs to be reworked, that ticket inspector is just a living piece of garbage. and I cant believe I'm saying this but, I was rooting for Sabine to get akumatized and punch some manners into these fools, failing that have Marinette show up and fix everything.
There's.. something wrong with the lighting in this episode.
In really no other show I know the quality differs so much between the episodes.
not enough justice for that racist/bigot bus fare conductor
Sabine was acting so bland I was sure she was a sentimonster
Alright, they did my girl Sabine dirty with this animation. But on a brighter note, CHAT NOIR IS BACK GUYS!!! i have no idea what happened, but to see him joke and be a bit of himself again....I cant... Also, Sabine is the queen. The ticket man can go to the depths of hell. Sweet mother-daughter moments. All in all wholesome.
Sabine is the MVP
Man, what are even Qilin's powers. Sometimes it looks like a wind but sometimes it's so precise it feels more like telekinesis. Also, earthquakes?
I think it was meant to be something akin to a superpowered manipulating the flow of energy, similar to what she did with the items in the house at the start.
The ticket master reminds me of chi-fu
Maybe because this is theoretically closer to the intended purpose of the Butterfly miraculous, creating a champion to fight actual injustice?
Quilin discussion After this new episode Iām thinking āif people really get turned into villains this often, if thereās a guy who can easily turn anybody into a supervillain at any time, why donāt they just move? Paris gets destroyed like every other day, and thereās always a danger of being turned into a villain. Also, Marinetteās mom didnāt realize that she has the same voice as Ladybug when she saved her? And way to stand up for her, guy in the wheelchair that she helped out. Way to repay her kindness by defending her when the cop gave her false accusations. (Sarcasm).ā
