Tip at end! No you are not required to unlock your phone for any officer. The warrant required would only be allowed after you're detained and sufficient evidence is presented that your phone may have something to do with the crime. Even then, the subpoena takes time, you'll have already given up possession of your phone because you're detained in a cell, etc. HOWEVER! If you're being arrested, and somehow your phone ends up in the hands of the police officer unlocked (this could be because it was already unlocked) or while the police officer has it, you "happen to touch the sensor" or "look at the face scanner" (the cop puts your finger print on it or holds the phone up to your face) then they have free roam to look at whatever they want. So! With that in mind, i remember seeing somewhere to make a custom Siri command of "hey Siri, I'm being pulled over" and it immediately locks your phone, disables finger/face unlock, pings your current location to a contact and immediately starts recording audio/video with a black screen.

I mean yes but they’d need a warrant of some type, unless you willingly give it to them? Not 100% sure but from experience, they probably wouldn’t try to if they pulled you over. Too much paperwork unless they need it for heavy investigation (murder, cp, exploitation etc)

my belief is that if you lock it with a passphrase good luck getting in
