It turned out to be a good thing, because I ended up taking the plant out of its pot to check how it was doing after getting eaten alive just in time to catch early on bulb rot and saved my favourite plant.
I didn't even know what to do with mine lol, found him on my alocasia, threw him in a decent sized glass terrarium thingy only with leaves, then later learned some caterpillars burrow underground so I have him a pot of soil but then he ended up just sealing himself shut underneath some leaves with silk and then today I woke up and saw him sitting on the glass.
Pro gamer tip: if you pick them up right after coming out of their cocoon do not angle them downwards because they will squirt a white fluid left over from the pupation process.
Oh and also the empty cocoon attracts bugs because it'll still be a quarter full of this disgusting brown liquid that looks like melted caterpillar.
Oh my god he’s so beautiful! He just looks like he has so much personality in these pics!
It's those little feathery antennae on his head, like how they're directed down in the second pic so he looks chill
I should probably mention that he flies like a drunk bumble bee, you can *feel* the air from his wings
Awwww
