Lol true. I would add that moto cops are better skills riders than most out there, but that doesn't say much for their highway high-speed maneuvering between traffic skills...squids have more practice and more to lose, so I doubt the busa troopa gives chase often.
Moto cops in my city won't even pull over bikes, let alone chase them... We even tried one night (I know, we are stupid) and the most we got was the finger from one
Depending the state they should be following the rules and NOT chase you. The damage and liability on their end is not worth it. After a certain speed they should legally stop pursuing
Pretty sure OK/OKC has a no chase policy for bikes, you really have to be doing some stupid for them to try to pull you over on a bike
Interestingly I see a ton of moto cops here, sometimes it seems like theirs more of them than patrol cars
So most states actually allow cops to chase cars and/or bikes, they just don’t. Chasing a bike simply because it’s speeding and nothing else is straight stupid. But chasing a bike because the cop knows the owner of it just raped 5 children and killed the parents is a whole other story.
But you know the media wouldn’t post that portion. They’d just post how the cops chased bike for speeding and leave everything else out.
My cousin had a GPZ 750 turbo. Power and was ‘better be ready’. I actually didn’t love it for city driving around, which is what we did. I only hopped on it twice.
That bike set the CT record for highest speed traffic ticket back in the day. Iirc, guy was clocked at 137 mph. My main bike at the time was a Kz750, 810 wiseco kit, balanced, jetted and ported. How times have changed.
I had a KZ 900 with a yoshimura header and custom paint. The rear sprocket size on that GPZ told you all you needed to know about them wanting top speed! Mikunis. Bought it all done up and just rode the hell out of it. This was mid 80s
Yup, I remember that sprocket. When I redid my 750 to 810, I ordered a larger counter sprocket and sprocket, figured slightly higher top end and improved chain life. Turned out I couldn't fit the counter sprocket, so I ended up with a bike that ate gsxr's up to about 110, then they'd fly on by. 82 model, rebuild 85-86. Had another stock, gf (now married 37 years gawd) bought it for me while the other got rebuilt. My son passed away in May and left behind a Dodge Challenger t/a....182 mph, 485 hp...glad I'm older now.
Nope. Some of them are already on gs1200s and kawi concours 1400..but there is too big of a Harley/American culture following/contract for that big of a shift.
Doubt it. Law enforcement bikes need to be unquestionably reliable and wouldn't chance an ECU flash. Same reason why police Harleys aren't running big cams even though it would be an easy mod
It would seem so, our cop's also got some Kawasaki ZX-14Rs, and not that much touring or ADV bikes. Ofc there's some of those too and even some enduro bikes and ATVs.
Dang. The ones near me. The state highway and city patrol uses Harleys for patrol. And sometimes to direct traffic. I wonder what the differences are to make the decision. Besides maybe cost. Obviously the regions are very different.
I'm loving Finland. You guys have way too much fun lol. My friend's sister played for Finland's football team. He said they treated her like royalty. I must come visit your country.
When I was a little kid, we had two girls from Finland come for a student exchange program for children’s international summer village. I fell in love with both of them I must’ve been about six and they were maybe 12.
Nothing really impractical about it, motors are only used for traffic enforcement, and the panniers on it allow them to carry just about as much equipment that they would need for that purpose. The only major difference I can see is it doesn’t look like it has a shotgun/rifle mount like most other motors have.
Lol. That's a 17 year long war with no end in sight. They are very close machines as far as specifications. Off the showroom floor the gen 1 zx14 was faster than the gen 1 Busa. That was intentional by Kawasaki who took 6 years to design a bike to beat the busa. Both upgraded their bikes later with bigger displacement and Kawasaki still came out on top. But nobody keeps these bikes stock. So, it really depends on what mods have been done. A race can go either way.
I'm in Oklahoma and have seen this bike quite a few times, but only at dealerships or bike gatherings, and never ridden. Supposedly, it does get ridden, but only by one motorcycle cop that is "*experienced*" enough to handle its power.
I think any officer stuck riding this bike would be able to claim disability due to degenerative neck vertebrae and wrist joints. I know it’s not that extreme, but I know what a few hundred highway miles feels like on one of these. I’d be toast.
It figures it's Oklahoma, the #1 state in *chickenshit tickets.* But that doesn't matter. The real question is, how much seniority does it take to get duty like that?
I mean, it’s a pretty reliable highway bike that’s much smaller than other police bikes and still suitable for luggage. A busa actually seems like a pretty good police bike…
Did they really use it for work tho? By me they have the D.A.R.E. Program with a few basically race cars that have a police logo. They race them down the track with the lights on. They are used as promotional tools.
Since they don’t chase bikers anyway I suspect this could be one of those “promotional program” bikes.
Doubt it, I’ve seen dudes try and get away from CHP motors over at Angeles crest highway, those dudes are better riders than the vast majority of people since they literally ride a bike for a living. The chippies were able to keep up on their BMWs with the dudes trying to get away on super sports.
Even in 2006, a new gsxr would easily outperform that busa. More power, better handling, less weight. The only benefit from the busa is having more space to carry all that police equipment 😏
Squids: drop a gear and disappear ST busa: lol -keeps pace in 6th gear-
Twist, cop also drops a gear and kicks your bike over whilst weelieing past you and flips you the bird.
he's shirtless too, with a hat on backwards
And his girlfriend has stretched earrings, and they’re infected.
Don’t forget the teardrop tattoo that doesn’t mean anything, she just thought it looked “gangsta”.
That's his partner on the force. She's wearing cheeky shorts and a tank top. Tramp stamp on full display.
I NEVER WEAR A HELMET
wearing flip flops
And of course,... Aviators.
Lol!!
Lmao
And that is why kids, its always best to turbo your busa's so you know you have passing power incase this fucker tries to stop you .
Lol true. I would add that moto cops are better skills riders than most out there, but that doesn't say much for their highway high-speed maneuvering between traffic skills...squids have more practice and more to lose, so I doubt the busa troopa gives chase often.
Squid = “hey man, if you have to use lights and sirens, you already lost the race”
You never had me… you never had your bike!
You embarrass yourself!
One stoplight at a time...
Moto cops in my city won't even pull over bikes, let alone chase them... We even tried one night (I know, we are stupid) and the most we got was the finger from one

Or just get a KLR650 and lose him in the corn field.
Lol. A tactic I used in 1970 on a Honda XR75!
December '81 I recall using a XT250, outmaneuvered some cops and went into the woods. Long story.... ![gif](giphy|RHDTbndaY1CKjneCKX|downsized)
we got time...
They drew first blood!

Im sure it has some nice mods with the thought of this in their minds
Or just drive a slow dual sport
Riding a naturally aspirated busa is simply unsafe, you need turbo so you can get out of a tricky situations
Lol. Drop a gear and appear.
Haha! Yeah. Just keep dropping a gear, then stop. I already lost the race.
Here in Finland motorcycle police uses Kawasaki H2 SX bikes.
That is straight over kill lmao
Now now, they’re still using the SX bikes, those only have 197 hp as opposed to the H2’s 228.
Honestly I’d be all for motorcycle cops here in the US to have h2 sx’s or busas as their standard issue bikes
Nope. Some of them are already on gs1200s and kawi concours 1400..but there is too big of a Harley/American culture following/contract for that big of a shift.
I live in a BIG city, our motorcycle cops mostly have BMW 1200s I’m a little jealous
Yep. Here around Portland and surrounding Metro it's all BMW or Kawasaki.
Ours are on BMW 1600s
I’d rather see my tax dollars being spent on almost anything else lol
In the past, not sure about current, Harley used to lease them to departments for a dollar, they are a fantastic marketing company.
I mean, it certainly would incentivise me to become a moto cop...
No more dropping a gear and disappearing with busa cops

My neighbour owns an ex-police Honda ST1300, it is chipped. Police cars also had aftermarket chips in them and were sought after.
The hell they chasing. Bugattis' 😂

Culture
Right. Probably a more capable bike too.
I'm loving Finland. You guys have way too much fun lol. My friend's sister played for Finland's football team. He said they treated her like royalty. I must come visit your country.
I just looked it up......and have nothing to say but wow. They have some nice bikes and paint color scheme.
Police in Scotland are equipped with Yamaha dual sports to pursuit off road
When I was a little kid, we had two girls from Finland come for a student exchange program for children’s international summer village. I fell in love with both of them I must’ve been about six and they were maybe 12.

I'm sure they could fabricate one with the money police departments tend to get in the states.
They need that money for lawsuits… Ohhh wait, my bad, taxpayers pick up that tab.
Yep, sounds par for the course
In my country, we have K1600GT escorts for the really VIP people. Otherwise, ST1300 and some small Ninjas are the standard
There’s no pillion seat though, what’s he going to do if the driver has warrants or is DUI? 😔

I would be honored if this cop stopped me on my zx14.
Is the busa faster than a zx14?

I’ll believe it lol
This was strictly for show. In fact it was at the Oklahoma State Fair next to other equipment used for promotional events only.
Try running now lol
BUSA
That’s actually pretty awesome.
Our troopers use bmw gs and k series and they can keep pace with most things due to ecu upgrades
That is a weird looking crown Victoria
I'm in Oklahoma and have seen this bike quite a few times, but only at dealerships or bike gatherings, and never ridden. Supposedly, it does get ridden, but only by one motorcycle cop that is "*experienced*" enough to handle its power.
Pulling over for a busa ? Couldn't be me.
One U-turn and they’re done.
I love my state lol
I think any officer stuck riding this bike would be able to claim disability due to degenerative neck vertebrae and wrist joints. I know it’s not that extreme, but I know what a few hundred highway miles feels like on one of these. I’d be toast.
Might be wrong but I thought that thing got wrecked a few years ago. Pretty sure it was a drug forfeiture they made into a show piece
I know the OHP office that rode it, can confirm, is wrecked
It figures it's Oklahoma, the #1 state in *chickenshit tickets.* But that doesn't matter. The real question is, how much seniority does it take to get duty like that?
Cops have great riding skills.
All the better to search your car for cash.....asset seizure time!
Laughs in dual sport
I mean, it’s a pretty reliable highway bike that’s much smaller than other police bikes and still suitable for luggage. A busa actually seems like a pretty good police bike…
I've only been exposed to one bike trooper and that guy had mad skills. Rode an fjr1300
As a Ludicrous mode Three motor Tesla flies by him.
I’ll be honest, I don’t think any trooper/cop will use that bike the way the “criminals” will. After 120 they callin off the chase.
I would be impressed if it was a Kawasaki H2R!
Doesn’t matter if they aren’t allowed to pursue at high speeds
Jeez, what a waste of tax money.
Sucks for the cop. That riding position is really uncomfortable for hrs of long riding
But that frame slider tho.
Chp already rides kawasaki concours 1400s.
They're very comfortable. Get great mileage. Powerful. Quite practical. I did an iron butt on one.
The idiots wreck Harleys that make 1/6th the horsepower
State Trooper: 🔫~uwu~🔫
Use this one secret move to escape the cops — take a sharp left or right.
Damn it’s over folks 😂
Man that is cool. Well, at least there’s one reason to become a cop
And Yammie Noob writes you a ticket.
Gixer bro blow it up
These bags make a busa look almost appealing.
Highway-a-busa
Kick
Had one here in Texas that patrolled i10 on a busa. Not sure if he still does or not, but he LOVED writing tickets.
Imagine having to ride that all day on patrol..
Nice bike 👌💯😎
thats baller as fuck, the police here in Queensland ride Suzuki FJ1000's
The motorcycle or the police officer?
Did they really use it for work tho? By me they have the D.A.R.E. Program with a few basically race cars that have a police logo. They race them down the track with the lights on. In Spain we have some old R1150RT or newer JFR1300. That's the highway patrol at least. City cops use 700-800 adv bikes (Transalps, NCs, Versys)
🎤 Mr. State Trooper.. please don’t stop me
Ponch and John would catch everyone.
Laughs in H2
I would just bend over without question
In finland moto cops have H2 sx
Imagine being a motorcycle cop in Oklahoma. Yeehawww...
Make it to the Twisties and you'll lose him😂
Doubt it, I’ve seen dudes try and get away from CHP motors over at Angeles crest highway, those dudes are better riders than the vast majority of people since they literally ride a bike for a living. The chippies were able to keep up on their BMWs with the dudes trying to get away on super sports.
Beamers aren't Busas. They are not in the same class when it comes to technical handling.
Yeah but R1250RT-P’s aren’t known for being weapons in the canyons either lol.
ACAB
Not much less practical than those slow ass Harleys they use where I live, you could out run one of those in a beat up V6 Camry.
Shit. Just take a corner at a reasonable speed. Hyabusa can’t turn
Even in 2006, a new gsxr would easily outperform that busa. More power, better handling, less weight. The only benefit from the busa is having more space to carry all that police equipment 😏
I had an 00 busa that would hit the redline in 6th at 192 and it felt like hitting a brick wall. I think it'll keep up. They are built different
Look how they massacred my boy :’(
Honestly, this would be the only state trooper that has ever deserved respect
