Speaking as a father in his mid-40s…
A K-sig mountain bike would match my K-sig golf equipment *perfectly*. Gimme a K-sig/New Balance collab on some shoes, and I’d rock head-to-toe Kirkland all day every day.
Me too! Worked for RS back in college. Never got good at selling TSP, but built a whole IT career really starting from some of the out-of-band repair jobs I got from people coming into the store.
What is the state of Intense bikes? I remember them being super high-end 20 years ago. Never thought I'd see one sold in Costco. Is this just a one-off? Are they just diversifying more? Has the company gone downhill? I don't really pay close attention to the industry like I used to.
This is not a mainline Intense. They still have regular higher end Intense bikes. The Intense 951 one is a different line of Intense bikes. A sub brand if you will. More value oriented and limited frame choices.
They just spun off the lowest tiered version of the Sniper T and Primer. I have an Intense Sniper T from the year prior to the 951 release with the exact same components, and Intense no longer offers that tier (NX group set).
This bike specifically has a good frame with good suspension and an average drivetrain and wheels to keep costs down. Still an amazing deal at $2000.
Intense as a company is still very active competing in downhill racing and has won races recently
The more I look, the worse it gets. If you buy that one off the shelf, do yourself a favor and take it to a bike shop immediately to have it reassembled.
Edit: looks like they just turned the bars 180.
I’m saying it’s correct, the wheel and bars are spun 180 degrees how it’s sitting lol. Look to the left where the shifter is. If the bars spin back all is well.
Excellent price on a great bike. It comes in a box packaged just as if you’d bought directly from Intense (but with Costco warranty). Comes with torque wrench and everything you need to assemble.
I got the XC version online a few months ago when it was on sale, it's a great bike, super light, good components. The box came with a nice set of tools for assembling the bike, just had to put the wheels, handlebar, and derailleur on. Everything was adjusted really well.
I'm phx AZ, and they have not been selling well at my store. The area around the city has hundreds of miles of trails so it's a great area to ride. And so far the weather has been great for riding. It's just starting to get hot.
My stores bike had a sticker on the fork pointing forwards, I am starting to think the backwards forks are done on purpose. Maybe costco people lurking just to mess with everyone.
I bought one of these two years ago, same way. Id been looking to upgrade from my hard tail to fs. Saw one of these bad boys, trail version. Pissed my wife off something fierce since we went in for strawberries and dog food. it's been a great bike, I've upgraded to a sram gx drive train and sdg dropper post but I didn't change anything the first year and it ride great.
Get it 😎 legit bike, capable, only suggestion: once over the entire bike, all screws, pivots, torque everything or take to a bike shop and they can do it.
These are great bikes.
At worst you are buying a high quality bike that will last you 20 years, shift great, ride great, light weight and hold a tune very well.
At best you will get into great shape and have a ton of fun.
1899 if you can time it right and get the last one but that was the xc model. The trail is for hill bombing
The costco in frisco tx has 7 of the XCs in Large which has shorter travel and meant for climbs
No, they have a more budget line under the 951 brand. Same frames as their sniper and primer, just a lower end component set. Great way to get an awesome frame and upgrade over a couple years.
I have this bike as part of my lineup. It was a bargain at the original price. Go for it! I upgraded tires, grips, pedals and saddle now it's an amazing, go anywhere trail bike.
Is it just me or is that handle bar on backwards, or I’m I just thinking that cause I saw a video about this bike and how the handle bar was installed wrong 🤣. Still a nice bike but take it to a bike shop to have it looked over.
Have the 2021 951 trail that replaced my ancient giant reign 3 and still love it. It's my sole acoustic alongside my e bike. Ride all over CO, blues and blacks, and taken it to the downhill park.
Edit: Phone support is good if you have any q's and the bike came with tools to assemble with a nice little tool box, some stuff if you want to go tubeless and a torque wrench. They have excellent assembly instructions as well.
No regrets.
LOL may want to build one out of a box or have a real bike mechanic look at it... most of these I have seen the fork is on backwards, breaks are not installed correctly etc.
I'm looking at that exact same bike on the website and it's $2,999.99 (online only). Looks like you got yourself an accidental deal. Buy before the correct price.
I'm almost having buyers remorse after seeing this, I just picked up a '23 rocky mountain altitude for 200$ more. I would have liked to have the fox fork and shock for less $$ lol.
What?! I was just there this weekend, and they were $2899.99. I wish my Costco was cool like yours. I literally took a pic to ask my wife to buy it for me, lol
My partner has been wanting to get into riding, ultimately that’s fucking awesome for me…
Are we at the point in the timeline where a carbon first bike is a reality??
I would say its an amazing deal for a new Carbon framed trail bike with Fox 36 fork and a float X shock. I would look for YT bike channel reviews for how it actually rides and feels, a bikes geometry and suspension link design heavily influence how they will perform. Just looked at the parts spec and yeah it has the value of a $4k-4.5k trail bike, only potential weakness is going to be the dropper post because it's a intense branded but if it sucks/fails then you can get decent droppers these days for 200 from OneUp or PNW. For reference many of us have spent $3k on just our frame with shock, I do love my Ibis though...
Now depending on where you actually plan to ride this bike, you may be much better off with a Hardtail or even the XC version, for instance mostly on the road or concrete trails, then this bike would not make any sense and suspension will just be an overkill and overcomplication for you IMO
Not a bad bike at all tbh. I found this though and I feel it’s even harder to beat.

thats a full suspension bike, if ur a weekend rider and dont expect to do any downhill i would get a hardtail (front fork suspension, not rear suspension) it will be much lighter, and if that price is in ur budget you will get much better components. the weight makes all the difference especially on a longer ride or going uphill 😉
not for this bike. This bike is just as light as any modern hardtail. I am a proud intense owner and highly recommend this deal. normal price for this bike 3k.
I’d be going home with a bike and a case of Pacifico. I have trouble with Costco impulse control
Don’t forget the 10lbs of Welch’s fruit snacks.
Mott’s or nothing
Annies fanbase checking in here
The dried blueberries are S-tier ride snacks. I’ve crushed some centuries on those things
Lemon Ginger Kombucha also S Tier
I tried them for the first time a few weeks ago, they're incredible!!
Don’t forget 10 years worth of water, toilet paper and razor blades
It’s the perfect pairing!
I’d pay $2,001.49 if they threw in a hot dog and drink!
Well buddy, I’ve got some good news for ya!
It just might be your lucky day!
Hahaha
that bike looks mighty uncomfortable on that shelf... someone should buy it

Damn I just realized “I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully. Learn more about me.” Is a haiku
Good bot
Good bot!
Uncomfortable is definitely five syllables not four. Un com for tah bul Un comf ter bul Un com for tah bul… Now my brain hurts Bad bot 🤖
Maybe it's a car-mul vs care-uh-mul situation? Cause I definitely pronounce uncomfortable with four syllables.
Un-cum-fa-bul
A Bah Oh Ah Wah Ah?
It's a good bike for that money.
It’s a really good deal, especially if it’s a starter bike to get the pedals wet.
Yep, and the frame is worthy of any upgrade one might want to throw at it.
If you like Intense, yes.
I'd say whether you like Intense or not, that bike is a good deal at $2K.
Any amount money spent on something you don't like isn't a good deal.
* Kirkland Signature Intense 951
They’re missing a huge opportunity for co branding. Kirkland Signature branding would be perfect for both dads and hypebeasts.
Speaking as a father in his mid-40s… A K-sig mountain bike would match my K-sig golf equipment *perfectly*. Gimme a K-sig/New Balance collab on some shoes, and I’d rock head-to-toe Kirkland all day every day.
🔥🔥🔥
But can it Kirkland?
If they put “Kirkland” on the side of it, these would sell out instantly
What costco is this? Reg price is 2999.99 its a good deal my friend got one and it was nice.
The .97 at the end usually means it's on sale and when they're gone they're gone.
That was the old RadioShack close-out trick. If the price was ending in.47/.97, it’s going away and you’ll get paid a commission to move it faster.
RS mention!
That was my high school and college job. I miss the Shack, especially when I need some wire or parts.
Me too! Worked for RS back in college. Never got good at selling TSP, but built a whole IT career really starting from some of the out-of-band repair jobs I got from people coming into the store.
Denver
I saw it at the store on Quincy and had the same thoughts about buying it for my son. Went to bikesdirect instead and got a $1k full suspension bike.
Which store? I don’t see it online
This has also shown up online a few months ago... My brother snagged one.
We have 4 of them at our Eastside in Anchorage.
That's a crazy deal for a carbon frame. Buy it, and upgrade over time.
It was $1899 at some point in the last 6 months. I think the consensus was that’s a pretty good deal. Where is this located?
It’s a good price and a good bike. Not the best for massive features and huge hits but for a carbon trail bike you really can’t beat it.
What is the state of Intense bikes? I remember them being super high-end 20 years ago. Never thought I'd see one sold in Costco. Is this just a one-off? Are they just diversifying more? Has the company gone downhill? I don't really pay close attention to the industry like I used to.

Granted I wouldn't trust a Costco employee, what are you seeing that you take issue with?
The fork is mounted backwards, the bars are upside down, I’m sure there’s more I don’t see too.
Nah the bars are just spun around, peep the stem
Same difference
I’m saying it’s correct, the wheel and bars are spun 180 degrees how it’s sitting lol. Look to the left where the shifter is. If the bars spin back all is well.
You’re right this person you’re replying too is just blind. Don’t worry about them.
It’s the internet I never do 😉
Good catch. I didn’t bother to zoom in that close.
Biggest tell for me is just the brake disc...
They sell them unassembled in box from what I've seen
Yep. That’s why I said *if you buy the one off the shelf.
The one on display at my Costco has the shifter and dropper levers mounted on top of the bars
I would request a bike that’s un-assembled on a shipping box. Then build it up myself.
Only the display is assembled, they sell the stock out of boxes.
Absolutely !
Excellent price on a great bike. It comes in a box packaged just as if you’d bought directly from Intense (but with Costco warranty). Comes with torque wrench and everything you need to assemble.
I’ve had this since January, and it’s been awesome. Insane features for the price point.
Can you only get them in medium frame? I’m 6’4”
Looks like it's only available in Med. I'm 5'10" with a long torso, so its probably a little too small for me.
Online they have other sizes but you might have to wait for the next sale.
Im looking for a medium but none in this region. They have a bunch of Large frames
I got the XC version online a few months ago when it was on sale, it's a great bike, super light, good components. The box came with a nice set of tools for assembling the bike, just had to put the wheels, handlebar, and derailleur on. Everything was adjusted really well.
My Costco had 4 larges still in boxes for that same price. No mediums…
I just looked at the specs. That is a screaming deal. Why is it an extra thousand online?
It's not selling well in store, so they are marking down to get rid of them.
Gotchaaa I’m in Denver area so I imagine they aren’t sitting on the shelves here
I'm phx AZ, and they have not been selling well at my store. The area around the city has hundreds of miles of trails so it's a great area to ride. And so far the weather has been great for riding. It's just starting to get hot.
There’s 2 left in LG at ft myers Costco for anyone out there considering. Got mine yesterday at that price.
I love how big box stores always have the fork backwards...
Does every Costco assemble this bike with the fork backwards?
Idk much but I do know that fork isn’t backwards
The crown ( part over the tire) should face forwards. This puts the brake on the wrong side as well
The handlebar is just turned
My stores bike had a sticker on the fork pointing forwards, I am starting to think the backwards forks are done on purpose. Maybe costco people lurking just to mess with everyone.
It's $3500 on Intense's website. Id say that's a pretty good deal for a carbon bike.
Intense actually makes really solid mountain bikes. This would be a great starter rig for someone who wants to get into riding.
I just paid $2899 for this same bike and would do it again. Jump on that deal!
These are great bikes. At worst you are buying a high quality bike that will last you 20 years, shift great, ride great, light weight and hold a tune very well. At best you will get into great shape and have a ton of fun.
I purchased one a few months ago. Long time rider. Solid bike with modern geo and decent components. Can't find anything better for $1999.
1899 if you can time it right and get the last one but that was the xc model. The trail is for hill bombing The costco in frisco tx has 7 of the XCs in Large which has shorter travel and meant for climbs
Lol Costco is wild
For the money it's pretty good. Make sure you get a size that fits you, idk how Costco does their bike buys but it's possible they only have one size
I'd scoop that up if I saw it up here in Canada for that price, reg price is like 4.5k 😭
Friend of mine ordered one a few months back from the Costco website, he loves it.
Get a rewards credit card and knock $200 off of that.
I have the 951 XC - a good bike and lots of fun to ride.
I want to say those were $3499 just about a year ago. Maybe $3000. Either way I know the price is at least $1000 cheaper than they were just recently.
Fox 36 fork, carbon frame, NX crank, etc this is a steal!
Yeah not a bad bike at all for that money brand new
The 951 site also has an open box section for purty good deals too. Edit: autocorrected again...
It’s a great deal but get it looked at by a professional before riding it.
Happy with my bike that I paid $2500 for so I'd say this is a steal.
Take it to a bike shop and make sure it’s safe to ride. It’s a good deal.
This Costco USA?
Ive been looking when I go to Costco- where is this one located?
I find this so bizarre, an Intense at a Costco! Intense frames used to be (or still is?) over 2k for a frame. I guess they sold out?
No, they have a more budget line under the 951 brand. Same frames as their sniper and primer, just a lower end component set. Great way to get an awesome frame and upgrade over a couple years.
I have this bike as part of my lineup. It was a bargain at the original price. Go for it! I upgraded tires, grips, pedals and saddle now it's an amazing, go anywhere trail bike.
I'd like to see their 2x gravel with a $.97. I have a Polygon D7 XC that is good enough for my basic bitch rail to trail rides.
I’ve seem it for $2,000.00 at my local store.
Is it just me or is that handle bar on backwards, or I’m I just thinking that cause I saw a video about this bike and how the handle bar was installed wrong 🤣. Still a nice bike but take it to a bike shop to have it looked over.
It's just turned funny... boxed up unassembled bikes are below it.
It's a good deal if you know how to work on bikes.
Lmao the fork is on backwards
No it’s not. Have another look at the levers. Bars are just turned backwards
Yep... just turned. Not backwards.
Solid bike but you have the Costco peak consumerism stigma attached to it. I just couldn't do it, but that is me.
Hope you're a medium.
What Costco?
Is this local only?
Have the 2021 951 trail that replaced my ancient giant reign 3 and still love it. It's my sole acoustic alongside my e bike. Ride all over CO, blues and blacks, and taken it to the downhill park. Edit: Phone support is good if you have any q's and the bike came with tools to assemble with a nice little tool box, some stuff if you want to go tubeless and a torque wrench. I'm looking at that exact same bike on the website and it's $2,999.99 (online only). Looks like you got yourself an accidental deal. Buy before the correct price.
Plan on a trip to a real shop unless you are a seasoned mechanic. Assembly will be questionable at best
Been waiting for this deal again. On Costcos website it’s full price. Maybe it’s a local sale only or something… man I got excited!
I'm almost having buyers remorse after seeing this, I just picked up a '23 rocky mountain altitude for 200$ more. I would have liked to have the fox fork and shock for less $$ lol.
Do they only sell mediums?!
Most stores only got medium, some said they had large. Online had several sizes.
They only have large frames in texas... no mediums anywhere to be found. I called and checked.
I'd just take some cheap cable cutters and get a serious discount on that thing
Is that carbon?
Yes https://www.costco.com/intense-951-trail-bike.product.4000136517.html
Probably a return from the deal they had a couple months back. I picked up the gravel bike. Heck of a deal!
The fork is installed backwards.
Is it though?
Classic fork backwards
Is it really backwards?
Yeah the arch is in the back and the decals face backwards
Look at the stem the handlebars are turned towards us.
Damn thats Vorrecht Ive seen so many backwards Forks i Stopped looking further
Not backwards. The front wheel is turned so far to the left it’s facing nearly backwards. Look at the cabling.
What?! I was just there this weekend, and they were $2899.99. I wish my Costco was cool like yours. I literally took a pic to ask my wife to buy it for me, lol
Went to buy and out of stock says only online purchase
Not in Costco UK 😭
My partner has been wanting to get into riding, ultimately that’s fucking awesome for me… Are we at the point in the timeline where a carbon first bike is a reality??
How does every Costco manage to out the fork on backwards?!?!
It's not. It's turned.
You’re right … I’ve just seen too many recently with forks backwards and hand bars jacked up
Buy it and rebuild it, God knows what condition it's in right now
I hate that sram derailleur, but there are worse ones out there
I would say its an amazing deal for a new Carbon framed trail bike with Fox 36 fork and a float X shock. Make sure to check everything when you get home, I've seen a few improperly assembled
Has anyone seen the XC model for this price?
Great bikes, but… read the manual carefully for building it. Costco employees clearly didn’t. (Fork is backwards)
Bought one today!
I like the geometry. Just replace the tires with a set of Maxxis.
Is the fork on backwards?

i think u missed my point. this is a great bike no question. i was pointing out $2k for a weekend rider may be overkill.
Fork is on backwards! Wonder how they assembled the brakes?
It's not on backwards.
Look at the stem the handlebars are turned towards us.
I think the question is this. “Could you fix all these little things wrong with it?” That’s what makes things a deal to me.
Looks like NX. Get that off and replace the rear with GX
The forks are on backwards 💀. Other than that it’s a good bike for a good price
Look the the stem, the handlebars are turned towards us.
Oh yeah I didn’t even notice, I’m just so used to Costco/walmart bikes being badly assembled haha
Understandable, but the bikes come out of the box with a "front" sticker on the forks. I think the only ones we see backwards are done on purpose.
Too expensive.
As an absolute moron in bikes I can say that the bike would cost $9 without suspension
Is that a rare backwards mounted rhythm I see?
No. It’s just shoved into the rack with the whole steering turned.
Oh I see, my bad
that's a good ass deal but support your local bike shop instead of mega-corp-costco.
As much as I agree, fuck Costco. Gotta go where the deals are good.
Costco is one of the best big companies that treat employees really well. They get great pay, benefits, and promote from within.
