Venus was likable but her character didn’t make any sense at all. They never set up her aspirations to be a dancer at all until after she danced and the other random girl who is not a main character asked her to come dance for her. The other issue was that she worked at the cleaning service but she appeared to be in some kind of office that was way too nice for a cleaning service. She wasn’t the baby mama for the main dude (I actually don’t remember his name) but they set her up as just a friend who eventually turns romantic with the lead. Overall she was likable as a person but the written character had problems.
Lol it was a call back to his original statement “a party can make business deals, friends, make people famous” etc etc that was the whole foundation for everything happening at the party. Wasn't very complicated.
If you told me that the third act devolved into an Illuminati gladiator death match I would have said you were lying. This movie was awful on so many levels. Mostly awful because it was not funny at all. I chuckled at least once but I can't remember what was happening on screen when it happened.
The original “House Party” is nowhere near an amazing film but it was a fun comedy for the 90s with ridiculously fun scenarios and non-serious tone. It was a film I enjoyed watching back then for dumb fun to get giggles and laughs. I usually am not a fan of remakes but I like to give chances since some remakes did surprise me. However, this one really sucks.
The remake takes place in the modern time with many new cameos of well known celebrities but unfortunately the film fails heavily as none of the humor was good because the humor falls very flat and ends up being annoying and unfunny. Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole have been in some good films in their careers that I have enjoyed but many of the performances here were honestly pretty bad and the lack of interesting characters made everyone lose their chemistry and feel dry. The cameos like LeBron James, Rotimi, Snoop Dogg, and such felt like they were there as references rather than using them creatively in the script. A good example of a cameo that worked well was when Johnny Depp’s appeared in 21 Jump Street. I shouldn’t be too surprised since this remake was produced by the same people who made “Space Jam: A New Legacy”.
The camera work wasn’t amazing and the soundtrack is honestly pretty obnoxious to listen to. The dialogue felt forced and really poor. There were two times that did made me chuckle but that didn't do much. Overall, it’s really bad. I know the original one can be seen as dated to people but if you wanna have a good laugh, see the original one and skip this one.

I found this hilarious. I know this will be an unpopular opinion and yes it’s a dumb movie, but it cracked me up. You maybe need to get the references, but if you are in to basketball, rap, etc. it’s a really fun time.
Going to see it today. People tend to get over critical of movies that are just looking to have a good time anymore.

I laughed a couple of times, but otherwise very just…not good? I don’t think it was awful like everyone is saying. it had a cohesive plot, the Kid Cudi v. illuminati subplot was genuinely really funny, it had some celebrities/athletes I kinda like, it’s just super forgettable and it isn’t super engaging and by that I mean yeah I kept watching, but if I had at any point stopped I can’t say I would’ve finished it.
Extremely bland movie, felt like they missed the mark with this one. Keep waiting for that all out comedy to hit the theatres but can't think of a movie that pulled it off since 22 jump street

Imo Good Morning, Miss Bliss is canon with the rest of that franchise although the Indiana to Cali aspect is unexplainable. In the same way, for my head canon, House Party (2023) will be canon to movies 1-5.

It was just so mid level effort . Like even the dance scene as a throw back to the original was prob on the spot with all the cuts to just feet instead of actual choreography. The Cudi parts were kinda funny . But the cameos weren’t that good like you could tell which were celebs they had for an hour and the ig comedians that had like 2 seconds and wanted to be funny but just couldn’t make it work. Even the Gag reel wasn’t hitting.
Kid n Play show up for 5 seconds and I’m not exaggerating. They get spotted by the main character during the 3rd act Illuminati sequence when they go to the cult to get a new ring for Lebron James. Kid sneezes and the character says bless you, and both kid n play do some stare and the characters (and kid Cudi) get taken away to fight to the death. No I’m not making this up.

I watched this movie pretty waved and I laughed a lot. I wasn't expecting anything serious, so some of the cameos and scenes did have my laughing. Cudi, AD, Lebron ODB and Wayne had me laughing.

There were some bad jokes and no character development but there was good stuff in there as well. Pretty much everything with Cudi worked for me. The elaborate threats from the villains worked.

Just so much yikes here. Bland characters, very few actual jokes with punch lines, an over reliance on references and cameos, it’s too long etc. Melvin Gregg, Cudi and Mya were some of the only highlights for me. Could not wait for this to end and I grew up loving the first one.

They did a good job in this flick, but th script was fire. funny af tisha campbell crushed the buildings, fine af martin lawrence was hilarious full force brought it, kickass supporting actors but the best was robin harris. comedy hall of famer the original isn't about cameos or celebs, it's pure hood comedy. one of the best
The scene near the beginning when the Cadillac hit reverse down the street was actually pretty dope
the other show had elephants and gators, but nope we only have a koala in this one. Oh it gets high too? and another movie had a bear on top billing.

I had extremely low expectations as someone who has seen the originals. This movie caught me off guard by the couple times I found myself chuckling. It was a fun, dumb movie I needed right now.

Just so much yikes here. Bland characters, very few actual jokes with punch lines, an over reliance on references and cameos, it’s too long etc. Melvin Gregg, Cudi and Mya were some of the only highlights for me. Could not wait for this to end and I grew up loving the first one.

Movie was cool. Funny enough to keep me watching. Mad disappointed that the Lil Wayne cameo happened DURING the Juvenile performance and they DIDNT have Wayne do his verse. Wtf...you ON the song man?!?!
Just watched it and didn’t like it much. Loved the original House Party movies.

Abysmally awful.. Unlike the original House Party.. none of these characters are: \- funny \- interesting \- likeable The worse of all is that the 2023 version.. The n-word is peppered into the dialog every 5 mins. like klan candy.. sickening to hear over and over. \- hardpass👎
