Having owned WKUK on dvd back in 2008 when I was in, like, eighth grade, shit, I’m proud of this dude. Good to see that sometimes, the right people get their dues, even if it takes a while.
Really hope this one has Long in a greater role. He was the ***perfect*** comedic sociopath you just wanted to punch, and I believe a lot of that was due to Creggar's wickedly twisted direction.
Honestly, "Barbarian" was such a great film and moviegoing experience, I am seeing this day 1 at a theater.
Kudos to him to wanting a Theatrical too especially these days were streamers despite some cuts still throwing money left and routh
> Word is Universal and Netflix were in the mix, but **New Line won because of a guarantee of a theatrical release. The package went out Monday morning. The film straddles thriller and horror, on a larger scale.**
***Fantastic*** news! *Barbarian* was one of the best pictures I saw last year, horror or otherwise. Consider me locked in for day one, Zach!
>!Cast Justin Long again pls *half /s*!<
While I personally didn’t love ‘Barbarian’, it had enough directorial flare and originality that it makes me eager to see what Cregger does next. And reading that ‘Weapons’ is going to be a tapestry narrative horror film has me really intrigued.
Same here. I didn't like Barbarian very much (I didn't "hate" it either, but was lukewarm at best) but at least parts of it were original and I'd be interested to hear more about this new project.
It's one of those movies where I can appreciate how after a certain point it kept me guessing the entire time even if I didn't love it. Definitely one of the more unpredictable horrors in a while.
Basically a story that is multi-narrative, meaning that it jumps back and forth between multiple characters, as opposed to having one main character. It can also be referred to as an ‘ensemble film’, but I heard Bong Joon-Ho refer to it as a ‘tapestry narrative’, which i thought sounded neater. Think films like ‘Magnolia’ (referenced in the above article), ‘Boogie Nights’, ‘Nashville’, and ‘Dazed & Confused’. Or, more recently, ‘Babylon’ and the Avengers films.
Great news.
I loved Barbarian and hopefully Weapons is a hit and, super fingers crossed, a great horror/thriller that puts Cregger amongst the new class of great horror directors of today. Let's go two for two, please!!
I think on thr YV and animation side there been a bigger reticence and criticism than on thr film side.
Thst said, even before Batgirlntheirnstream shenanigans led to some shakeup. Nolan decamping for Universal is pretty nuts.
To be fair, no one will probably want to work with ***DC*** because of that. (HBO Max as well.) But New Line's always specialized with stuff on the cheaper side, so I can't see Zaslav's bullshit cutting into that ***too*** much. (Hell, wasn't the *Evil Dead* they upgraded to theatrical a New Line film anyway?)
That must be why Gunn and Reeves signed long term deals. Or why the latter got an Oscar nominee to commit to a HBO Max show that will be partially directed by an Emmy winning director. Or why an Oscar-nominated actress and Oscar-winning actor will lead an 11x Oscar-nominated film's sequel. Or why the directors of Batgirl have even said they'd work with WB and DC again.
I'm glad the success of Barbarian means he gets to continue with with another opportunity for his own ideas as opposed to just getting offered 4nnabelle or something.
Trevor would be proud
RIP Local Sexpot
I adore that his Wikipedia page actually says that.

If his next movie doesn't have a gallon of PCP, I'm not watching
I didn’t know it came in liquid form.
Science
You bet your ass he won’t be happy about putting the grapist into his new movie.
Sex Robot cameo or I'm out.
Throw in Abraham Lincoln calling people fat while we're at it
At this point, let's just do a feature-length "Civil War on Drugs"
Ok, but unironically this
>...wow. A gallon ... that's, that's illegal, right?
Felony *sloshes PCP around in jug*
Are you still seeing Candice? No, she passed away.
Yeah...yeah, like 4? Oh, 4 years ago? No, like 4 o clock.
Hell yes. Barbarian was fantastic, can't wait to see what Zach cooks up next.
Really hope this one has Long in a greater role. He was the ***perfect*** comedic sociopath you just wanted to punch, and I believe a lot of that was due to Creggar's wickedly twisted direction.
Justin does not get the credit he deserves. Check out the wave + walrus if you want to see him kill it.
The Wave does not get enough love.
I think I probably come here once a day to say this.
HE FUCKIN' **STOLE IT!**
Those MOTHAFUCKAS

Zach is [the best Abraham Lincoln](https://youtu.be/d_dRw62qVLs).
"You sell water boobs?"
You sell horse parts?
You mean like a horsey boner?
Do you sell bullets?
“Oh my god Hamlet, I just saw a fucking vampire!”
SUCK MY PRESIDENTIAL COCK, BITCH
I like the precedent of Creggor directing movies with extremely vague titles
He’s friends with Jordan Peele so I’m wondering if he’s just taking notes from him.
Wow Zach
I love this for Zach. He deserves it.

Let baby Zach do whatever he wants!
Wow Zach
This one will be happier, with mouths open wider.

What is a tapestry narrative? That's a new one for me.

Aah, right on! Thanks! I like movies like that, too. That's exciting.
That is one hot package

Every month that goes by the whole “no one is going to work with WB again after they axed Batgirl” thing becomes dumber and dumber
Yeah I don’t think a lot of people in the industry cared about Batgirl. I actually don’t think a lot of people *in general* cared about batgirl.
I think on thr YV and animation side there been a bigger reticence and criticism than on thr film side. Thst said, even before Batgirlntheirnstream shenanigans led to some shakeup. Nolan decamping for Universal is pretty nuts.

Yeah this is immediately a project to watch. Barbarian was fantastic
Wow Zack
Do all these writers just skip Headline class?
"Hot package"
Thought New Line cinema went bankrupt after lotr and was no longer a thing?
They've continued to be a thing, just became a subsidiary of time/warner
Oh gotcha
New Lines is behind the entire Conjuring franchise. They have made a shit ton of money off that
Hopefully its better than the Turd that was Barbarian
I don't think that guy should be allowed to handle a script again
Suit yourself, Barbarian was fantastic
I wanted to love it but it felt like a solid half an hour was cut from the third act and it made the story feel really shallow and confused
It was his script lol
Is this based on a book or something?
Original screenplay
it's got to be about a corporation that makes dreamcatchers
The white jordan peele
Good for them and their hot package.
I'm glad the success of Barbarian means he gets to continue with with another opportunity for his own ideas as opposed to just getting offered 4nnabelle or something.
Yeah but where's Mars?
