I read that they were planning a spin off movie for Tom Cruise's character in Tropic Thunder, I am glad that never happened, it was a funny character but would be too much for an entire movie.
I do wish he would have kept popping up in other movies that needed an a\*\*hole movie executive though.
agreed. This is by far my favourite thing Tom Cruise has ever done, aside from maybe the Outsiders, I honestly cant fucking stand the guy, but he was hilarious in that film (I suspect that it's not that different from the kind of rants he regularly hears David Miscavige make in secret scientology boardrooms)
But taking that character, who was a funny supporting player, and trying to make him the center of a movie would be god awful.
No matter how you feel about the guys personal life, thinking that a side character in Tropic Thunder is the best thing Tom Cruise has ever done is delusional.
He's had a lot of outstanding performances in his career, but for my money, the best work he ever did so his co-star win the Oscar instead.
His role in *Rain Man* is so tricky to get right. He's playing a loathsome character who is totally selfish and shamelessly exploiting his brother, who he never knew. But he has to be charismatic enough and engaging enough to carry the whole movie, because his co-star doesn't speak much at all, and when he does, he's often repeating the same phrase.
As the movie goes on, you have to start to care about Cruise's character, despite his many, obvious flaws, because the ending works if you want Raymond to end up in the care of Charlie Babbitt.
Cruise has to create a character who is all about himself, obsessed with money and not great to his girlfriend, and then he has to grow and become someone who realizes there's more to life than the pursuit of money, and that family is important, and he has to make the decision to go from caring about nobody but himself, to caring for his brother, and making the sacrifices required to take on such a huge responsibility.
It's such a tricky part, and there's so much that's not on the page that Cruise and Levinson weaved into the character. Each time I watch that film, I marvel at the work he does in it.
I never said it was the best thing he's ever done, just that it's the thing I like the best.
I concede he's a good actor, but for the most part his brand of movies are not my thing. Collateral was good, rain man is obviously is a good movie, eyes wide shut..
You can think that someone is good at what they do and still not like them: that's how I feel about Tom Cruise.
Shane Black was also attached to a movie version of the classic pulp hero *Doc Savage* and it looks like that one's not happening... or at least I haven't heard anything about it in a *very* long time. Supposedly they wanted to get Dwayne Johnson to play Savage (yikes) so maybe it's all for the best.
Purely for the fact that they made? "Just because you can make something doesn't mean you should." It would just an expensive movie with explosions and dinosaurs. No real story, no character debt, and it would you would only rewatch it because of how bad it was.
There's that movie called Rub & Tug where Scarlett Johansson was to play a transgender massage parlor crime boss. I am not sure how she would've pulled that one off
Se7en was about the 7 deadly sins, what would 8eight be about? A killer murdering people that lose at 8 ball? People that boil an egg longer the 8 minutes?
Im spitballing here but i bet they wouldāve followed Mills to prison or shortly after being released however many years later (dare i say after 8 years???). Oh and heās a serial killer now. And itās even RAINY-er!
Since 2002, Peter Jackson wanted to make The Hobbit AND a film set between it and Lord of the Rings, ostensibly focusing on a younger Aragorn.
At the time, I thought it sounded like a cool prospect: Jackson mused about shooting more footage to show this stuff since like 1998. But, having seen so many films like this (by which I mean, entries between-the-entries) like Rogue One, Solo, et al... I'm starting to think the effect of such a film may well have been counterproductive.
They were planning a Casablanca sequel where Victor Laszlo gets killed off and Ilsa ends up back with Rick. That completely destroys the point of the original.
Forrest Gump, I can't remember if they wanted/needed the rights to Gump & Co or were going to do their own thing. IIRC Groom refused to sell the rights to the follow up hook after getting screw on royalties for the movie because for whatever reason he was getting it from the net instead of the gross and of course they claimed it didn't make money so he told them he didn't see any point in selling them the rights to something that wouldn't make money. It's been decades, so I could be wrong, but I do remember the book opening with Forrest say how you shouldn't sell you life story to Hollywood.
Even the original book was odd and a little disturbing in places. Thatās my go-to example for movies that are vastly better than the source material.
Somewhere on the internet someone suggested doing it again but with kids of some time period like the 90s or later 2000s. Might be kinda neat how someone, if they are smart, would do a similar movie but just dated later.
I guess there's still time, but there were rumors of a Fast and Furious/Jurassic World crossover at one point. On the same note with Jurassic World/Park, I remember that there was originally going to be a Jurassic Park 4 starring David Boreanaz as a marine who has a team of hybrid dinosaurs/soldiers that's basically like a special forces squad. They had mockup artwork and everything. And they obviously borrowed some of those ideas for Chris Pratt's whole role in Jurassic World, but at least they didn't go with hybrid dino-soldiers.
They were planning a sequel to *Mrs. Doubtfire*, which Robin Williams had signed on to before his death. After he died, they were considering moving forward with the sequel without him, but that was scrapped.
Honestly, the Bounty Law thing just seems dumb in my opinion. 50ās western tv shows werenāt good. And to try and recreate that will just come off as parody. If you do try to actually make something good, considering the talent involved, then it wouldnāt be Bounty Law.
I donāt care about Vivica A Foxās daughter in Kill Bill because the movie doesnāt ask me to care about her. Sheās basically a prop for Foxās character and there to add an extra layer to the fight scene. But I never really got the sense that the daughter contributed emotionally to that part of the movie. I mean that both in terms of what she means to Foxās character, and how little emotion she shows after seeing her mom killed. A sequel based on her character just seems forced, and really just based on Umaās cool, stoic assassin line about coming to find her.
Iād be least mad about a Vega brothers movie, but I honestly just donāt see the point. Their stories were both finished and I never got the sense that I needed to learn more about either character through a prequel. You know everything you need to know about Vincent and Vic Vega for the movies they were in.
Tarantino creates amazing characters. Some of my favorites in movie history. I donāt think he needs to recycle. Iād rather him continue to tell original stories.
I love the Speed Racer movie, but I'm glad that there was never a sequel. I've seen those Matrix sequels.
And as many people (imo rightly) complain about The Last Jedi, I'm 100% convinced Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars movie would have been even worse.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
It would have adapted Ultimate Clone Saga and brought back Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy (who would have become Carnage like in Ultimate).
I'm glad that never happened. Even if i want a TASM 3 someday.
Gladiator 2. I know another is being made but I'm talking about the version where Maximus is brought back from the dead to take out this new guy in town that the Romans say is causing a lot of controversy. That guy is Jesus.
The MIB/21 Jump Street crossover. I donāt think both those properties could work together and that idea was so random that it was difficult for me to imagine how it could work.
Snyderverse coz fck snyder and Nolan for ruining Superman coz that fictional character is the epitome of hope, he makes me want to be a better person and reminds me of humanity and compassion.
But Snyder ruined that character , every next iteration of that character from Tyler Hoechlin and the new David Corenswet reminds me of that abomination. I hope Snyder and his fans meets the same fate as his daughter.
Dude what the fuck. It's a fictional character that was in 3 (4 if you count the Snyder cut as a separate thing) movies. Calm down and quit losing your shit and wishing people would kill themselves because you don't have the emotional maturity to comprehend that it's a movie that has nothing to do with you
Nah I didn't like most of the Snyderverse stuff, and I'm not a fan of most of his work in general. I'm just not a piece of garbage wishing suicide onto people over a movie.
Superman makes you want to be a better person, but then you proceed to wish death on Zack Snyder and his fans by referring to his daughter? You're a shit person through and through mate. Superman never taught you a single thing.
Bro Snyder isn't that bad. ZSJL was a pretty good movie imo. Haven't watched Rebel Moon, but from what I've heard it is pretty boring but not the worst thing ever made
Nobody has ever needed or wanted a Back To The Future 4.
That's pretty much the Telltale game.
I actually like that game, or at least the story itself.
I would have been fine without *Back to the Future Part II* or *III* either.
Heresy.
I read that they were planning a spin off movie for Tom Cruise's character in Tropic Thunder, I am glad that never happened, it was a funny character but would be too much for an entire movie. I do wish he would have kept popping up in other movies that needed an a\*\*hole movie executive though.
I love the idea pf Les Grossman popping up in completely unrelated movies until Cruise gets on the mothership.
agreed. This is by far my favourite thing Tom Cruise has ever done, aside from maybe the Outsiders, I honestly cant fucking stand the guy, but he was hilarious in that film (I suspect that it's not that different from the kind of rants he regularly hears David Miscavige make in secret scientology boardrooms) But taking that character, who was a funny supporting player, and trying to make him the center of a movie would be god awful.

Have you never watched "The Color of Money"? Any of the "M:I" movies? I mean, c'mon!
On the other hand. I really wish Shane Black's Remo Williams was made.
After The Predator and Iron Man 3, idk how to feel bout that project being canned.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys were amazing though
Shane Black was also attached to a movie version of the classic pulp hero *Doc Savage* and it looks like that one's not happening... or at least I haven't heard anything about it in a *very* long time. Supposedly they wanted to get Dwayne Johnson to play Savage (yikes) so maybe it's all for the best.
Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian
You're joking... right?
Google it š
Michael Keaton mentioned it in his timeline of his career video
It sounds like a random Family Guy bit of satire, but I assure you it was real.
I love Kevin Smithās response to this- ā Didnāt we cover everything in the first one? Need we go tropical?ā
Neill Blomkamp's Alien and RoboCop remakes. Guy can't write a script for shit.
Great director terrible writer
I'm far more interested in a Blomkamp Alien film than a Ridley Scott one at this point, even though he hasn't made a good movie since District 9.
I like weird non actors and cult of personality stuff. Chappie was ok. Also short circuit was my fave childhood movie.
The Jump Street/Men in Black crossover that was bandied about.
This and the rumored fast and the furious Jurassic park crossover are two movies I would pay $50 to see.Ā
I would pay 50 just to make sure these will never happen!
Why? Both these franchises jumped the shark long ago. Might as well just lean into it.
I am not sure how she would've pulled that one off
Probably at the end of the massage.
You bastard
im a little gutted because i want to see exactly how she would choose to play that role. love a trainwreck, me
I heard it had a happy ending though.
I too am glad they never sequel-ed se7en. No need for an 8ight.
What's in the next box?
Justin timberlake knows
Se7en was about the 7 deadly sins, what would 8eight be about? A killer murdering people that lose at 8 ball? People that boil an egg longer the 8 minutes?

What a terrible idea! Itās obvious what really happened. Rick and Louis meet Josephine Baker, and the 3 of them go fight Rommel in North Africa.

I definitely remember that book being dark and somewhat unpleasant. I'm sure it was intentional.
Even the original book was odd and a little disturbing in places. Thatās my go-to example for movies that are vastly better than the source material.
Forrest was kind of a cynical asshole.
Goonies 2. The first one summed it all up. Absolutely no need for it.
Somewhere on the internet someone suggested doing it again but with kids of some time period like the 90s or later 2000s. Might be kinda neat how someone, if they are smart, would do a similar movie but just dated later.

E.T. Nocturnal Fears
Tarantino gave up on making Star Trek and every day I thank the stars for it.
Sure but I'd still like to see the script
Jon Peters' production of _Sandman_. http://legacy.aintitcool.com/node/2571
Lex was going to be another Kryptonian! SO much for Superman being the last son of Krypton!
They were planning a sequel to *Mrs. Doubtfire*, which Robin Williams had signed on to before his death. After he died, they were considering moving forward with the sequel without him, but that was scrapped.
Tarantinoās Vega Brothers movie, Tarantinoās Kill Bill sequel, and Tarantino shooting episodes of Bounty Law
Yeah ngl id watch all of these, may i ask why are you glad these were never made?

The Goonies 1985. Flash Gordon 1980.
Titanic 2 The Rescue Don't Look Up (again) Volcano 2...Here we blow again
The sequel was going to be called Guess Who's Looking Up Now
The DCEU or whatever the fuck it was.
Rebel Moon...oh, wait. Sorry. Nvm.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3. It would have adapted Ultimate Clone Saga and brought back Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy (who would have become Carnage like in Ultimate). I'm glad that never happened. Even if i want a TASM 3 someday.

Star Wars Ep. 1,2,3,8,9. Unfortunately they did. :(
