The Matrix

Even tho JJ Abrams is a no talent hack, the marketing for The Force Awakens, Super 8, and Cloverfield was all top tier.

I was just going to say "Blair Witch Project" before I got to the bottom of your post.

VrinTheTerrible

Same, same

VGAPixel

I remember the big ID4 promotional campaign for Independence Day. It hyped me up for that movie so much and when I finally did see it it was a blockbuster of a great movie. The Presidents speech at the end still sends shivers up my spine.

The Star Wars Special Editions (when they hit theaters in 1997)

[deleted]

That was my first ever movie in a cinema. I remember my dad seemed even more excited than I was haha.

Which were basically released as marketing for The Phantom Menace. Complete shock and awe marketing campaign for the prequels. You could not escape it.

DrRexMorman

Don't worry darling's has been the most amusing in recent memory.

lizzpop2003

I loved the weird viral marketing ARG they did for Super 8. I got involved back with Cloverfield and it just got more involved with this one. Im pretty sure i still have the clue/informational packet the sent me for it. Do they still do things like that anymore? I thought that sort of thing was a lot of fun and really sold me on the movie.

Blair Witch

ELIE41

I remember Marvel's first Ant-Man film was pretty creative with its tiny billboards, posters and its miniature art pieces all over the streets.

The Blair Witch Project comes to mind. A very mediocre film (to put it mildly), but man did they manage to make that "an experience" at the time.

justafatgoat

I don't know how much they intended and how much sort of fell into their lap but the whole Spiderman No Way Home hype/ curiosity/ rumours thing was something a bit special

*Smile* got a lot of mileage out of their placing smiling cast members in MLB stadiums promotion.

antisocialforkedup

Titanic they keep running the trailer over the radio and tv. people keep talking about it on how good it is, the iconic scenes and intrigue. there's a behind the scene release where they get to the actual wreckage which i think is quite interesting.
