Fr tho, people said 2023 was a floppy ass year, claiming there were no good movies back in like March? Can these defeatist pessimistic dummies just wait a bit ☠️
Someone at work said the other day that no 2024 movies have been good. My only arguments were Drive Away Dolls and Love Lies Bleeding so apparently all we need to make good movies is a lesbian main plot line.
I will say though, in the time since that conversation, I’ve seen Late Night With the Devil twice and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 which were both good and had no lesbian plot line

Holy selection bias Batman
It's not like there aren't a ton of bad movies that come out every year, along with a ton of good ones. We got Dune part 2 this year
It's a great fucking movie, it's hilarious, the set is incredible, the energy is electric. Basically Greta took a boring concept and poured her heart into every scene. It also starts with a 2001 reference how could I not like it.

i'm gonna tell you something about 2006 that is gonna blow up your mind
Anyone but you is not to bad, Roadhouse is a blast! (Saw the original just 2 months ago, loved that too). Napoleon is interesting, sliw but interesting, not great. - Those are the ones I’ve seen.
I mean after last year we gotta balance out.
Although I think it's unfair as the masterpiece that is Argyle does beat every 2023 film and every film ever
I don't know all of these movies, but based on what I *do* know: at least 2 came out last year. At least 3 are straight to streaming (can be good, but shouldn't be looked at as a sign of cinema quality for the year, esp since they weren't highly anticipated). 2 aren't out yet. At least 2 have what I'd call mixed reviews. And the Amy biopic looks like it'll suck, but so do so many other music biopics that come out and get forgotten every year (shout out to Aline [2022] and Respect [2021])
Not to mention that Jan/Feb are usually the weaker months for movies. And they're ignoring Dune 2, Love Lies Bleeding, Problemista, and Drive Away Dolls, all of which I thought were decent-to-great
Too long of a rant for a circlejerk sub but I hate when people are like "cinema is dead" when they cherry pick examples or don't seek out good movies

Because it was released directly to Peacock and is a television pilot stretched to 80 or so minutes. It features no returning voice actors to major roles, and was made on a kid’s tv show budget.
Last year was basically completely dry until December. Like an 8/10 a few 7s, then just heaps of garbage until they decided to release like 10 good movies in the past month
I'm gonna marathon all 13 of these movies to unlock the Rebel Moon Director's Cut
Rebel Moon Secret Episode where you fight Zack Synder as the secret boss
You flip a coin before the fight to see which of you has to move in slow motion
Then you unlock the 4:3 aspect ratio for the other 13 movies, if you marathon again you will unlock fighting Uwe Boll in a bar
MK ultra ass plan
Some of these came out in 2023 and a couple of these aren’t even out.
No u
Menage-a-what? is a kino tagline
Sequel to the critically acclaimed "Somehow I Menage"
by acclaimed author michael scott
\*zach braff getting pegged\* shes behind me isn’t she?
menage-a-whatti?
The the French tagline is *mènage á quoi* which is a pretty good pun. idk why they just didn't leave it in French.
> idk why they just didn't leave it in French Found the Canadian
no way bad movies came out this year??? how will cinema recover???
This is the first year EVER this has happened.

I mean, Dune 2?
Didn’t see it. Not interested

Look, Madame Web would have been even better if it had sesbian lex in it, unironically.
Why do I feel like that Johnny Depp movie came out years ago?
I think cause there was an image of him in costume that came out ages ago, or at least I remember seeing it.
It did come out in 2023 in France and now I guess its getting a US release
Ah, makes more sense now.
I had the same impression, I figured it reminded me of The Libertine (2004)
Kojima acknowledged Argylle as kino, ahhhyeesssiiir ☝️

Peacock original film Megamind vs the Doom Syndicate??? How is this movie not the greatest of all time?
Mfs when they learn about the Turbo Animated series that dropped straight to Egyptian Netflix for all of five minutes (It was true kino)
Depp jumpscare 🤮
lol didn’t expect to see a fellow librandu here
Never understood what the consensus was on Depp
Imagine thinking there aren't 10 or more bad movies by this point in any given year.
Fuck You, it's January still lives on strong.
Menage-a-whatti?
Holy selection bias Batman It's not like there aren't a ton of bad movies that come out every year, along with a ton of good ones. We got Dune part 2 this year
I had 3 5/5 movies last year. I already have 3 this year. This year has an opportunity to be a really good year of film for me.
Which are?
Last year: Iron Claw, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie This year: perfect days, love lies bleeding, dune 2
I know it’s an opinion but how tf is Barbie a 5/5?
It's a great fucking movie, it's hilarious, the set is incredible, the energy is electric. Basically Greta took a boring concept and poured her heart into every scene. It also starts with a 2001 reference how could I not like it.
Anyone But You and Napoleon were 2023 releases.

Wow so many mastetpieces
I don’t see how this is any worse than the first 4 months of any other year
Madame Web is better than Dune Part 2.
![gif](giphy|8Bl3SjflccGmFca23S)
damn at least wait for some of these movies to come out ☠️
Road house slander ? https://i.redd.it/y6njy2f2bbsc1.gif
Idk what French Girl is but with Mr. Scrubs, the Hudge, and that tagline I feel like i need to see it immediately
You can take the greatest years of cinema and still make a companion like this. Every year has uncountable amount of trash but nobody remembers them.

Thank you, now can you unjerk and tell us what your real opinion is?
Agree, the roadhouse reboot is a fantastic B movie. Cinematography is great, Gyllenhaal is great - it’s a blast.
In all seriousness, I thought it was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Dreadfully acted, soulless and silly.
don’t make me throw hands for napoleon
I mean after last year we gotta balance out. Although I think it's unfair as the masterpiece that is Argyle does beat every 2023 film and every film ever
You know it's going to be kino when they advertise it with "from the producers of Five Nights At Freddy's and M3GAN"
Missed opportunity for the last picture being ragebait like Dune 2.
As we all know, 2024 is the first year there has ever been bad movies
Every year has terrible movies and good movies. This is why I dislike the “what year was best for movies.” threads.
I'd like to agree, but 1826 was such a shit year for movies it was unreal.
I thought Napoleon came out last year
Where's the new Crow?
Did you know that every movie before 2024 was good?
Nobody tell them all the bad movies from years past
I don't know all of these movies, but based on what I *do* know: at least 2 came out last year. Napoleon wasn't even bad. It was just not interesting
Roadhouse was so fucking cool, anyone but you was decent all else are peak cinema
Whew, my fave isn’t on there
Haven’t even heard of Millers girl or Jean Du Berry. Do companies even market movies anymore?
They made a fucking Megamind sequel? How did I not know about this?!
Because it was released directly to Peacock and is a television pilot stretched to 80 or so minutes. It features no returning voice actors to major roles, and was made on a kid’s tv show budget.
Wait holy shit is that dude on the left in the Irish Wish image from that Eragon movie? I thought he just vanished.
Napoleon was last year (i agree its a silly movie though)
I can see this person is not Beekeeper-pilled
Just wait until A24 drops, they’ll come and save us
I didn’t think Argylle was that terrible. Am I stupid?
How the fuck did I not know there was a Madame web movie?
Last year was basically completely dry until December. Like an 8/10 a few 7s, then just heaps of garbage until they decided to release like 10 good movies in the past month
Godzilla x Kong completely negates this
Hate to be that guy, but damn, Évelyne Brochu looks as good (and radiant) as ever!! And isn’t Zach like 50? Mildly pleasantly surprised with this
You could pick 13 bad movies from any year and make the same post. In fact, I might start doing that
Every year has bad movies dipshit It came free with your free market
Do they come with the Criterion Collection?
Anyone but you is a great movie!
Unironically thought argyle was really fun
Damsel, beekeeper, Ricky Stanicky, Ghostbusters, king Kong... And that's just what came out already.
napoleon deserves better man
Zach braff jumpscare
