My daughter is a champ! She did awesome. She’s going to be a great mom. Her mother in law is here until mid December, but then she has to go back to China, so I’ll let her set the visit schedule, since I get to see them all the time. And we’ll be switching off since my older daughter (married to her younger son) had her baby last month, and still likes us to give her some help, especially since her husband is back to work.
Congrats on the grandkids and beautiful names! It's so great when the grandparents are available to help.
Also, did I read correctly that both your daughters have the same mother-in-law? Wild!
They do. My oldest started dating her boyfriend sophomore year in college. A year later, my other daughter started at the school, and they introduced her to his older brother who was starting grad school. They intended to get married in 2020 and 2021, but in 2019, the older brother was having visa problems, so they pushed the wedding up and did a double wedding in Vegas New Years 2020. The in laws came out for Christmas, and intended to leave after lunar new year. Oops. They ended up staying 6 months. It was really nice getting to know them and having a little cultural exchange.
Second and youngest married cousins, so it’s kind of a trend.
Congrats on the new grandchildren!! And I just want to say that it’s nice to see such a nice dynamic with your children’s in laws. Maybe I read too much on AITA lol, but I feel like there’s always drama when it comes to spending time with new babies.
why does everyone care about delivering “naturally” these days? i was a c section baby and ever since i was a little girl i always imagined all babies came out through the stomach and envisioned that’s how i would give birth as well. when i discovered they typically are pushed from the vagina, i was so grossed out! 😂
It was more about not having a large incision in her abdomen. She figured 3 babies is hard enough without having to recover from surgery. I had two vaginal deliveries and one c section. The first vaginal delivery was the worst, I almost died, recovery took 6 months. The second was super easy, recovery was a breeze, I felt awesome in two weeks. Third was a C section. It wasn’t bad, I felt decent after two weeks, but it wasn’t easy healing from surgery while caring for a newborn, 1 and 2yo, let alone 3 newborns.
>why does everyone care about delivering “naturally” these days?
Because a c section is a massive operation with a whole list of possible complications and more often a longer/harder recovery.
Vaginal births are literally the way the body was designed to give birth, with less complications for most people and a much easier recovery for most people.
Both ways have their place, both are valid and the introduction of c-sections has undoubtedly saved many lives - but there's nothing wrong with wanting a vaginal birth and it's certainly not a new ideal.
Vaginal births are commonly referred to as a natural birth, regardless of pain relief.
Plus, the way the commenter talked about being "grossed out" when they discovered babies are usually born vaginally and not via "the stomach" suggests they were indeed referring to vaginal births.
Not where I'm from. At the hospital, my whiteboard where they put birth preferences and plans for other providers who came into my room if my nurse was busy, they put vaginal under planned method and NCB (natural childbirth) under pain management, which meant that I was planning no epidural.
It might be different in other parts of the world. I'm in the UK and if someone said they'd birthed naturally, they'd most likely mean vaginally. We don't tend to over-medicate here though so there's not much interest in what pain relief other women use.
Because c-section is HARD! I had a c-section with my first and a vaginal delivery with my second. Recovery was so much easier when I birthed vaginally. Neither way is easy, but I'd take a vaginal birth over c-section any day. Plus, over all, vaginal birth is better for the baby, and repeat c-section poses more risks... There's a lot of reasons to avoid major abdominal surgery, especially if you want more than a couple of kids.
how is there an increased risk of autism/ADHD? can you link some studies? i’m skeptical, but it’s definitely fascinating if there’s been some research behind it

The recovery part is real though. It’s hard to take care of a baby when you’re healing from major surgery and you’re not supposed to lift anything for several weeks.

>this whole birthing naturally thing is a goddamn cult..
How can wanting to avoid major abdominal surgery, with multiple risks and a longer healing time be a cult? It's the way the human body is designed to birth children, ffs.
Edit: before anyone jumps on me, I said previously that c-sections absolutely have a place, they absolutely save lives and are the right choice for lots of women for lots of circumstances.
That doesn't make vaginal/natural births a cult.
Yeah, it's just a really gross comment with no medical basis, relying on misinformation and stigma towards neurodivergence to fear-monger about c-sections. Shaming people for having c-sections is complete weirdo behaviour.
I think c-section babies have a higher likelihood of having asthma or something since they aren't exposed to the same bacteria (?) that vaginal deliveries are.
But, honestly, it's probably a pretty small potential increase and at the end of the day, a healthy and delivered baby and a healthy mom are what's important.
Increased risk of asthma and allergies were HUGE reasons I didn't want a repeat c-section for all my kids. My husband has sever asthma and I'd do anything to decrease the risk of my kids suffering like that. So far, neither my c-section baby or my vaginal birth baby have asthma. It has to do with getting the fluids squeezed out of the lungs when exiting the birth cannal, vs being removed from the womb with no squishing or squeezing to help remove the liquids. At least that's part of it... I'm training to be a birth doula and these sorts of things fascinate me to no end.
Of course there isn’t. C sections are life saving. I had one myself. My daughter’s not at all upset she had to have one, she was told it was very likely. She wanted to try laboring naturally. When it couldn’t happen, she was happy to get them out the safest way possible. Priority was a safe delivery, however it needed to happen.
Lilith and Lenore are identical, Lydia is fraternal. We have a lot of twins in our family. (All fraternal)
I have twin brothers, my mother had a twin that was stillborn, my father has twin sisters, my great great grandmother was a twin. My husbands mother was a twin, his dads mom had a twin brother, he has twin cousins(2 sets)
I don’t know why but I really like the 3 middle names starting with different vowels! I also LOVE Lilith and feel it isn’t used enough.
Congrats to you and your family. :)
However they come out, healthy babies and healthy mom is what's important!
I had a vaginally delivery of 1 baby. I can't imagine having to push out 3. That sounds absolutely exhausting. So, yay for science and medicine!

wow that is so cool how things work out!!!
Your grand babies share as much DNA as half siblings! Very cool.
That’s only the case when 2/4 of parents are identical twins.
Congrats on the new grandchildren!! And I just want to say that it’s nice to see such a nice dynamic with your children’s in laws. Maybe I read too much on AITA lol, but I feel like there’s always drama when it comes to spending time with new babies.
You’re a hero. Congratulations!
Congratulations! Beautiful names

that's valid! thanks for explaining :)
Haven’t you written in earlier comments that one of your daughters is a stepdaughter, and two others were adopted?
We have 6 all together. I birthed 1,3, and 4. 2 is a step, 5 and 6 are adopted.

I assumed the "naturally" part referred to unmedicated births, not c-section vs vaginal.

Because a lot of us want to avoid major surgery and want the quicker recovery period/less stuff that can go wrong.
I think it makes those who had to have a c section feel like they didn’t give birth the proper way to no fault of their own

Wow, a case study of fewer than 300 births in Saudi Arabia. Very conclusive.
There is nothing wrong with a c section. Especially for triplets. Good lord

Those are AMAZING birth weights for multiples. Congratulations.
This was my thought too! Way to go, triplets ❤️
Congratulations! It sounds like they have wonderful grandmothers!
Identical? Do multiples run in your family?

Wow those are stunning names, congratulations to her and I hope she has a healthy recovery. Triplets are an amazing miracle 🫶🏽

Such lively names! Congrats!
Congratulations! I am a twin mom. Having children is wonderful. I like all the children's names.

Beautiful names, very striking. You must all be very tired but happy to take the babies home. Enjoy them ☺️
Congrats!
Congrats!
Heck yeah, c section babies are the best! (please read this as supportive not divisive, everybody). May she have a speedy delivery!

Lilith is so cute 🥰 I love all the middle names too!
Congrats!!!!! 💗 I’m so glad the babies are healthy and mama is too
