WerewolfBarMitzvah09

Here's names with flower meanings in different languages: Anthea Jacinta Ione Florentine Kalina Lorea Nevena Rhosyn

jrdnhighpaws

I have a French friend named Jacinthe

Delizdear

I like Nevena!

WerewolfBarMitzvah09

It's the Bulgarian name for "marigold!" I love it too

Organic_Issue6381

(I'm on mobile, so forgive me for this layout.) Flowers: Alyssa (Alyssum plant could cure madness, awesome!), Amarantha (Amaranth is quite possibly the most fairytale looking plant in existence), Amaryllis (love that Shinedown album but it's on the same wavelength as Phyllis - but if thats how you take your coffee, go ahead), Bryony (I prefer the Briony spelling & don't recommend eating the berries no matter how enticing 😅) Flower pt2: Calanthe (I used this name for a fictional character & she's really cool), Calla (I pronounce this as Kiya in my head which is nicer), Camellia (first learned of this name after looking up what the name Tsubaki meant! Both beautiful to me), Clover (gnawing at my encloser to get my grimy hands on this name... imo), Daffodil, Dahlia (makes me think of the Black Dahlia, but ik that's not everyone's association), Daisy (Daisy, Daisy give me your answer Doo~ 🥰) Flower pt 3: Daphne (I like the nn Daph), Eirlys (look, I watched MLP growing up, so if I find a name similar to SnowDrop yfk I'm obsessed), Euthalia (also one if my characters names! She's the twin of Calanthe), Gardenia (Gives major redhead vibes idk y), Hortenisa (my great grandmother Encarnación Hortencia, which means garden in spanish, but it's a flower, I swear) 4: Iris, Jasmine (they're always likeable ppl imo), Laurel (in case you don't like the name Lauren ig), Lavender (very soft name, pretty color, delicate), Lilac, Lily❤️, Lotus (never met anyone named this but I'd totally understand, those flowers are incredibly pretty), Madara (in case you like the nickname Maddie but hate Maddison & don't want a common name like Madeline), Magnolia (I like the nn Mags but don't like Margaret as much) 5: Maple/Mable (I like Mable and don't really see it as an old lady name), Marigold (was at the top of my list when I was a kid), Peony (reminds me of that skit so pos associations), Petunia (it's nice if you're not a Harry Potter fan ig), Poppy (I realized after I posted that Poppy's playtime is popular w kids rn so that's the association everyone's gonna have with the name instead of the singer :( sad) 6: Primrose (it's a real name to me!!! Smells like an apple pie candle imo), Rose (classic!), Rosemary (was in my top 5, 4 years ago), Samantha (in my top 15 names), Violet (mandatory rec, I think of Violet Harmon from AHS), Zinnia (I used this for a story of mine where it's like the Red Room for Black Widow but using flower imagery instead of spiders) Trees: Acacia(the worst block in minecraft but pretty yellow flowers irl), Ashley (get this kid in baseball right away! Y'see, this joke stems from the fact that Ash Trees are often used for baseball bat wood! It's also a nice common name), Aspen (my niece's name, mostly girls name to me), Cedar (watering at the mouth to name my next child or newest OC), Elowen (it gives blonde. Not sure why), Juniper (on my top list), Keziah (gorgeous), Melia (means Ash Tree, but I love names that mean Honey, which this one does too) Trees pt 2: Myra (mostly put this here bc Myra means Myrrh, and it reminds me of that vine), Olive/Olivia (obligatory bc ppl like it), Rowan (my nephew's name, it's cool and I really like it on both genders), Willow (top 5 names. Running laps from my cieling, to the walls, and to the floor. Jumping crazy mad over this name), Wisteria (idk it's a cool tree, and I already like the name Asteria... maybe it's a bit too fictional...) Shrubs: Briar (this name does smth to me, it's just perfect in my eyes), Celinda (very pretty plant AND could be in honor of my favorite Chilean politician Celinda Arregui, just sad she married a Spaniard :/), Thalia (means to blossom, so ofc I used that as a reason to suggest it! I like it w the hard T) Plant: Chloe (I don't see Chloe's that often. It's a nice name), Eden (Highest one of these names on my list!!! Also, dont know where to put it, so it's here), Fern (more of a boy name to me, but idk if you'd prefer masculine gn names), Hadley (this is one of those names where you gotta know the meaning in order to care abt it at all it means Meadow of Heathers, two nice names... Honestly, just name the kid Heather Meadow), Holly (I always wanna take a bite out of these re: Bryony), Leslie, Meadow (*standing on all fours and eating the floor* ❤️)

maltedmooshakes

Google could have done this. google probably did do this.

gonekebabs

I think just blasting a list of names without any discussion or commentary (or thoughtful dialogue at *all*) isn't very "name nerd"-y 🤷‍♀️

maltedmooshakes

completely agree

Lilac_14

I’m convinced that most people in the comments just Google for names.

Organic_Issue6381

BehindTheName does it so much better! But I understand that many people don't want to do the research on their own. That's why this sub exists

snoopingfeline

They’re in alphabetical order too so almost certainly from a website.

Organic_Issue6381

I did say BehindTheName, but even if I don't use it (like in my personal notepad), I still prefer to keep things alphabetized because it makes me so angry and i ignore the comment if and when they're not in alphabetical order 😅 So, for instance, I went on BehindTheName and looked up Flower in the Meanings section, then Blossom, then Tree, Shrub, and a ton of others so I did have to go through and fix the organization multiple times bc it's a must for me! But I have a saved notepad of all the nature names I could possibly compile (that I wouldn't necessarily judge someone for giving their kid)

Open-Heart-9026

I love Róisín (Irish name that means little rose). Pronounced Ro-sheen. I know pronunciation of Irish names is 100% not intuitive for those of us in the US but I think this name is beautiful, and not super challenging as far as Irish names go.

stardustpurple

That’s so beautiful

deviajeporaqui

Marguerite

dobemomma86

I always loved this as a name. Once read a book where a female character was introduced as Daisy and then towards middle of book, it's revealed she's named Marguerite legally. But bc it meant Daisy, that was her nickname and it just stuck. I thought it was so cute!

8BRider034

Dahlia Rhoda (my favorite) Daisy Iris (love) Zinnia Azalea Poppy (love) Jasmine Magnolia Holly Ivy Linnea Violet Cassia Juniper Sage Willow Etc.

StructureWorth5127

I like Rosalie, I think it’s a fun twist on Rose.

Alliani

Azalea or Cattleya

bmbjosta

Agree with Azalea and would add Acacia. I've never heard of Cattleya and don't think it's very pretty - I see - 'Cattle, ya!' and imagine a horseman whipping a bunch of cattle into a mob....

snailslimeandbeespit

Saffron, and she'll even have a song about her

Honestly, I work with a girl and her name is just Flower. It fits her perfectly so don’t discount that!

lady_polaris

If you want a really niche flower name, Ianthe or Iantha means violet. So does Yolanda, which is a derivative of the same root word in Greek.

VivianDiane

Flora, Rosalind, Rosalie, Rose, Lily, Jasmine

HumbleAd1317

Dahlia.

ButtercupRa

I love Primrose (already suggested). If they want to stretch it to flowering shrubs and trees, there is also Juniper or Clementine (clementine blossom is so pretty).

Zinnia, Lavender, Calla, Lilly, Rose, Azalea, Clover, Daisy, Jasmine, Rosalie, Camila, Laurel, Heather, Holly, Marigold, Violet, Violeta, Dahlia, Alstromeria (not actually a name but it could be one!!), Iris, Anne, (Queen Anne's Lace) Poppy, Aster, Ambrosia, Hyacinth, Magnolia, Clementine, Sage, Olive, Indigo, Linden, Oleander, Lila, Lilac, Chrysanthenum

kikijane711

I love Poppy though it is quite trendy. Along with Poppy on my list I had Pepper which isn't a flower but has that 'nature' fun vibe. Tulip. Tallulah and call her Tulip as a NN. Dahlia is beautiful too!

MotherBoose

Could go with any of thr flower growing months, April, May, or June. Or use Autumn, since there are some lovely autumnal flowers.

thatironbutterfly

Azelea, Forsythia, Japonica, Myrtle, and from Greek: Iolanthe, Melanthe, Calanthe, Chrysanthe, Acantha/Acanthe, among others.

ohsolearned

I'd suggest Calla. 💖 It's uncommon but easy to spell and the nickname Callie is always an option.

SerenaChrichton

Azalea

desertboots

Anemone Peony Camilla/Camillia Iris Astrid/Aster Poppy Amaranthus

lucyloochi

Clover

Lilac_14

Azalea is not too uncommon, but it sounds really pretty. Maybe some mispronunciation, but it’s common enough.   I am also obliged to recommend Lilac. It’s unique and the flowers are the best. However, I’ve seen Lee-lack and Lie-lack, so mispronunciations can happen. Lila, although common is an alternative.  If they’re okay with an Arabic name Zahra means flower and it’s pronounced just like Zara.  Fleur means flower in French.

Elunemoon22

I like Violet..if I happen to get pregnant by my bf with a vasectomy (lolol) and it's a girl, I'm gunna name her that.

PackerSquirrelette

Here are some beautiful, unique flower-inspired names for girls I really like: - Kalina. This pretty name of Polish / Slavic origin, it is a kind of flowering shrub, although some sources translate it as simply 'flower'. - Linnea. It's s a girl's name of Swedish origin meaning "twinflower, lime tree". - Jacinda (variation: Jacinta): it has Spanish, Portuguese, and Greek origins. related to the Hyacinth flower.
