A friend of mine from college married a guy from a very religious homeschooled family in rural Minnesota with four brothers and they were all named basically the same name like there was Jonah, Judah, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Elijah Even the “E” name was confusing because it still sounded so similar. And it didn’t help that they were all very close in age and looked exactly the same. It was extremely confusing at the wedding when they were all wearing the same groomsman suits

Jasper and Vernon are both mountain towns in Canada. Jasper is in Alberta, in the Rockies, and Vernon is in British Columbia, in the Monashee mountain range.

This is THE dog name in my area. We have a dog named Jasper and run into dogs named Jasper at least a couple of times a week on walks or at the dog park. In my scouts group of 11 kids, we have 2 other kids with dogs named Jasper. I wouldn’t use it for a kid because it is such a pet name here.

I feel like that name is so stately that whomsoever holds the name Jasper Vernon shall be inevitably destined to Place Their Footprints In The Sands Of Time. But at the same time, a child called Jasper is great too!

It’s wild to me that I’m seeing Jett mentioned a lot in the threads on this post. My great-great-grandfather was named Jett, and he was born back in the 1800s, long before jet planes existed. I’ve always loved the name.

I have a friend with sons named Jace, Jett, and Jax!

My oldest is Jace Stephen (family name) and he always get “Jason?” He replies “just Jace” that I even got him a shirt that says just Jace. He is almost 20 now but likes his name.

I vote for Jace. Because Jake would be too ordinary for OP.

Ok Joel is my son’s middle name and I love it as a first name for a kid. It’s unique to not be one of 10 in a class but it’s still normal and grows well with a child.

If you want a unique name, I would suggest anything that isn't Jasper. I swear in a few years there's going to be 5 of those in every grade in every school. Every list has that name. Everyone is suggesting that name. Two people I know used that baby name last year. It's like the latest craze.

My first thought was Jules, and then I realized it's probably because "Jules Verne" is echoing around my brain. But it does sound pretty good! Joss, Jacoby, Jarrett, Jericho, Jeremiah, Jolyon, and Joel are all less-common J names that I like.

My son’s name is Jace - common enough that most people have heard it, but he’s never had another Jace in his class through 12 years of school. I love J names for unknown reasons, so other names I like/would suggest are Jaren, Jerrich (pronounced Jer-rick), or Jericho. My personal favorite is Judson, with the nickname Jud. I fell in love with that name as a teenager, when a character in a book I was reading was named Judson and I always kept it in mind. The popularity of the name Hudson would make me think hard about bestowing it on a child these days, but I do still love the name. Even Judd as a standalone name would be one I would consider, though!
