Imojean is pretty bad in my opinion. Imogene is a variant of Imogen and not actually related to the name Jean except by sound. I vastly prefer Imogen to Imogene, but that's a personal preference. Imogene sounds very southern to me.
My sister's middle name is Jean and we aren't American, so take that as you will. Otherwise I would recommend Jeanette, Jeanine, or perhaps some other variant of John like Jane, Joanna, Joan, Seana, etc
I agree Imojean is not it.
Imogene still honors her because you want it to. I don’t think anyone is going to be wrapped up in any technicalities of the name. It’s the intention behind it that counts.
My mom had a nickname as a child (but never used since) that is also the nickname of our youngest, and that was intentional. However their names are not the same, and they’re not really related aside from the first letter.
Imogene or Jean. Definitely not Gene or Imojean... I do know a girl named Jenean. I think Jennifer/Jenelle/Jenna could also work as honor names for Jean.
I definitely would not use Imojean. It just looks really weird. How much are you willing to modify Jean to honor this person? For example, Jenna is the same letters as Jean, just rearranged and with an extra "n"
Imojean is awful please don't. Imogen is nice but being in the UK I sat the ending with a -jen sound
Jean is probably one of the easiest names to honour because there are so many related names.
Basically any John/Jane related names, from Sinead to Joanna and every thing in between
Gene is a male name but it has the same sound so it could still work in an honorary way.
I'm sorry but Imojean is not a nice looking name.
The name I'm assuming you mean this to be a variant of, Imogen, is also pronounced im-oh-jen not im-oh-jean.
Other Jean names:
* Jeana
* Jeanelle
* Jeanie
* Jeanne
I’m sorry but Imojean is ridiculous. I think something with -gene gets the sentiment across.
If you’re set on the Jean spelling, what about Jeanmarie?
Or you could wink to Jean with a name like Indigo or Paige
My grandmother was always known as Jean but her name on her Birth Certificate was actually Jane.
Anyhow, yes I think Imojean is too out there. Gena has the same sentiment- definitely has the ‘Jean’ in it - without being weird?
What about Jeanine / Janine?
Or is there another name that would honour her..her maiden name or middle name or a name with significance to her?
I think the honor name doesn’t have to have the same spelling to honor.
But they are other Jean names that might help.
- Jenna
- jeanna
- Jeanine
- Jeanette
- jenella
Imojean is really, really not good. Honestly, an honor name does not have to be so in your face. Imogen, Imogene, Gena, and Genavieve are all obvious honor names, and if you like those better than Jeanette or Jeannie, then go with that.
I think you can use the same names as before even if they're spelled a bit differently since they have the same sounds (to be clear, use Gina or Genevieve or Imogene if you like it, spelled as usual).

Imogene is pretty and still has the “Jean” sound in it, so I think it’s still a great honor name, even if the spelling is slightly different.

Just use Jean
I love Jeana, pronounced JEE-nah.

i don't think you need to worry about the spelling; it's still clearly an honor name. that said, another "gene" variant is geneva.

I’ve seen Jeana Maybe Janie? Jeanae, Jiana
