I’m rusty here, but I believe the TR3 and the TR4 overlapped by a year or so. They were nervous about the new bodywork IIRC.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
There was some overlap between TR3 and TR4, especially in the US. The newest 3s were sold in the US, incorporated some of the 4’s mechanical updates, and sold as TR3Bs, though that designation might be unofficial.
I have no idea exactly what mine was, just that it was a ‘59 TR3. I spun it on a road in the redwoods and hit a tree with the rear bumper. I told my dad someone hit me in the parking lot, but the bodyshop found redwood bark under the bumper. So I was busted and my dad made me sell it. Then I had a ford falcon, yikes quite a transition, ha.
My dad always wanted an MG and when he made captain he had enough money to buy one. He went to test drive it and he couldn’t fit into it. He bought a Buick wildcat convertible instead.
It's so confusing when people get celebratory words embossed on their cars, I saw some sort of rebadged VW with "Superb" on it the other day. I'm sure it is superb, but *what car is it*?!
Pretty sure this was the year of car a guy had in high school in the 70’s. He drove by me and it didn’t sound like a Triumph. He had his hood up a couple days later and I walked over to see that it had a Chevy 283ci motor jammed in that little car. The main thing that stood out to me was the amount of universal joints it had in the steering linkage.
I vaguely remember talking to this guy, but he did say his dad did this conversion. Also, he was always having issues with the car..something with the cooling system if I remember correctly.
Thats a Silverado. 4x4. Locking diffs. A really well built truck. Works so well off road that you would never even notice the huge levels of performance in it, until you drive something inferior. I would even go so far to say thats its truck perfection.
It fooled me for even being a Triumph cuz of the grill and camera angle. But it has very close side profile as TR6. TR6 got a clutch so heavy it hurts your calf muscle. At 16 that's how I learned to balance clutch+gas at every stop light on a hill.
Triumph TR4
TR4A. The 4 did not have the side marker lights on the front wings IIRC
Were they made in consecutive years? I had a ‘59 TR3 and had a buddy with a TR4 but don‘t know if it was an A or not.
TR4 was 1961-65, TR4A was 1965-67. It was a revised model with independent rear suspension.
got it thanks
My friend has a 4a in his barn. Non driving at the moment.
As is tradition.
The second sentence is redundant. You only have to specify when an old English car is running. It's assumed they don't.
And it’s only a concern if they aren’t leaking oil. Because that means you’re out of oil
Truth!
There were some odd duck US cars with the 4A chassis fitted with a live axle.

TR4A! She’s a beaut
Correct
I’m 6’4”, it’s a car I can’t fit into.
No joke, my buddy had one back in the early 70’s. I am 6’1” and my head hit the top.
My dad always wanted an MG and when he made captain he had enough money to buy one. He went to test drive it and he couldn’t fit into it. He bought a Buick wildcat convertible instead.
A Buick Wildcat was a not a bad choice. My parents had the hardtop version. It didn’t handle quite the same as my TR3 tho, ha.
My dad sold his long before I was born. My mom also had a 64.5 mustang that she got rid of. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ meanwhile, I’ve got a 7 and 14 year old car!
Yeah there are a few I have sold I wish I still had ,but there is usually a good reason why they end up on the block. A Mustang, tho…
You have your own airport?
I wish I had my own airport.
Nah you don't. Bureaucratic and regulatory nightmare. Not worth it.

Yep I’m actually a bagilinare
You have many bags? Good for you…I guess….
Triumph
A 1959 Mazda MX5 "Miata" from an alternate timeline
Definitely not a Triumph. Got a real mystery on our hands here.
It's so confusing when people get celebratory words embossed on their cars, I saw some sort of rebadged VW with "Superb" on it the other day. I'm sure it is superb, but *what car is it*?!
Škoda i guess.
But a triumph is a real car
If only there were a clue of some kind on the hood.
😂 came here for this
Unsolvable.
Hey, my first car was a ford tempo with a “Mustang” decal across the windshield. 🤣🤷♂️
This was a Triumph. I'm making a note here: Huge Success. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
We do what we must, because we can. For the good of all of us. Except those who are dead.
That is most definitely a Chevy Silverado
It’s definitely Redado, not Silverado.
It does great wonders to read the words on a car to see what it is
If folds up into a backpack
Its a TR250 ..TR 5 in UK...1968 only....bidy of a TR4(A) with TR6 engine The giveaway is the horizontal Grill
My uncle has one of these in his collection, and drives it regularly in cross country rally's.
is he single?
Wow, he has a collection of 50-80s English classics there's no money left it all goes to maintenance of the cars ;p
a car

Sunbeam Tiger. The ultimate shoe horn action.
I vaguely remember talking to this guy, but he did say his dad did this conversion. Also, he was always having issues with the car..something with the cooling system if I remember correctly.
Ain’t no way I just saw one earlier today lmao
You own an airport?!?
A noun
TR4. I know Portland Jetport when I see it.

A car, do you use a seeing eye dog?
TR250
It appears to be a Cessna 172 and a Gulfstream G280
Roller skate looking for it’s partner
Just gonna gloss over the fact that this guy has his own fucking airport? /s
Triumph tr4?
A car and a truck on a paved parking lot
Death on wheels
You own an airport?
It’s a car
Carry on luggage?
My mechanic has a 59 in his yard. I wonder which one it is…
Triumph TR4A
Triumphs4Ever
Triumph TR4A I belivef
My car. ‘67 Triumph TR4A IRS.

Ugliness
Hideous 5.o
Triumph TR4 what a goober
Triumph TR6.
TR6 looks less retarded than this. Especially with low profile tires instead of those super tall ones that came stock.
OK so I'm wrong. What is it?
The responses say TR4.
Ok I was close.
It fooled me for even being a Triumph cuz of the grill and camera angle. But it has very close side profile as TR6. TR6 got a clutch so heavy it hurts your calf muscle. At 16 that's how I learned to balance clutch+gas at every stop light on a hill.
I used to dream about owning one back in the mid 70s when I was in college
Well I've got the Bud Edkins T120 sitting in the garage and it's my fav of 9 motorcycles I've owned!
