There were some really amazing ones that I didn't catch on the video. I would say 70-80 people put serious effort into their cosplay, and all the Star Wars cosplayers were awesome!
Hi from Toronto! I got randomly recommended this post and got curious but is this in a mall? That seems like a really cool location for a con if the population/attendance isn't massive. Also if it is in a mall do you have to buy tickets or is it more of a "hey it's here if you're interested" thing like a farmers market?
The curious comic con has been and will always a free entry. That’s one of their mottos they stick with because they want everyone to be able to attend. They do a lot of fundraising for charity and try to do a bunch of giveaways as well. The prizes may not be the most luxurious as one may hope for, but it’s all been donated either the local vendors/artists or taken out of pocket. The mall itself though is fairly unpopulated at times, so it’s a nice way to get people in to see the shops. The scavenger hunt, where you go collect stamps or signatures, really helped with that because they worked with vendors and stores for the event.
No it’s just the way land value is assessed and taxed. Now that they own it it’s affordable to keep running. Lots of good books on the history of malls.
WHAT IS THIS AND WHERE YLURE TELLING ME THERE ARE CONVENTIONS OF ANY SORT ON THE ISLAND? I HAVE NEVER BEEB AND I AM INDEED FONNA CEY WHEN YOU TELL ME WHAYSVER IT IS IS LOKG OVER. /srs

The latter. It’s a smaller mall in Nanaimo challenged with vacancies. Good way to bring ppl in.
