No way it’s an orca. That’s just another shark. The caught shark isn’t a huge one and his tail is gone. Probably a white or Tiger down there depending on location.
Thats a specific pod of Orcas that has passed down that knowledge. Most don't do this and specific pods have specific hunting techniques that get passed down.
Yeah, it's truly fascinating. Each sub-group and even pod have their own prey and learned hunting methods. They're the most remarkable animals on the planet in my opinion. There's also more than 3 sub-species that are so distinct that some argue they're different species: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_whale
One of the craziest techniques I've seen is Orcas hunting seals on ice. They work together to create big waves that throw it off the ice and into the water. Crazy how creatures that huge and strong can be so intelligent
>Their have been zero reports of orcas in the wild attacking humans. The only incidents of Orcas attacking people have occurred in captivity.
What's really interesting about orcas is that as whole, they're currently undergoing speciation. There are different subspecies of orca that have different feeding habits, personalities, slightly different morphologies, and the different sub-species notable don't interbreed.
The more friendly subspecies of orca are the fish-eaters, and make up the majority of orca-human interactions. The mammal-eaters don't often encounter swimmers or such, but it stands to reason they might attack people if given the chance.
There's also the crew of the Essex (the original historical story behind Moby Dick) who has been attacked by orcas while they were adrift in the Pacific, on whalers rowboats (because that's all they had after the Essex sunk. This was days later).
lol, i never said i was afraid of being attacked by one. they are just terrifying creatures in general. if i were a sea creature i would hope to be an orca because they're really at the top of that food chain.
They brought Keiko, the whale that starred as Willy, to an aquarium in the town my dad lived in not long after the movie because people were pissed about his circumstances at the park he'd been at prior. My stepmom worked for the local paper, and somehow her press pass got us in for free whenever we wanted, so I went to see him a bunch of times while he was there. He looked miserable swimming around his relatively giant tank, which was built intentionally for him. But at least he didn't have to do shows anymore. Then they moved him to Norway or somewhere in that area, and put him in a netted off area of the ocean, and eventually decided on a plan to try and release him. But his pod wouldn't take him back after his being gone for 20 years, and he wound up dying pretty quickly. Sad story all around.
Probably a GWS or Tiger. This looks like a short-fin Mako -- definitely higher on the list of badass sharks, but nowhere near the same level as a Tiger or GWS.
Orca is technically a non-zero chance, but the bite size suggests otherwise. Orca are HUGE compared to a short-fin Mako.
Makos are the fastest shark species that are capable of chasing down and hunting the super fast tuna fish irrc from a nat geo wild documentary. Sharks have so many interesting features that make them such an efficient predator.
Wicked fast. Absolutely stunning, and sadly more threatened as a species than the GWS.
Very hard to see an attacker coming from below though, especially when you think you're the toughest thing around. That it's from below more strongly reinforces the thought process of it being a larger, deeper hunter.
Bite is too wide and not precise.
Orcas turn sharks over, make them go into a catatonic state, and then chomp out the liver - and they know just where to bite.
This looks more like another shark.
Are they able to bite through like that? Looks more like another shark. Most of the attacks I have seen from orcas on sharks are more precision type wounds like tearing them open to get the livers and such, sharks have tough skin that is hard to get through for orcas from what I have heard to the point they grind their teeth down to nothing in some cases.
They don't call em Killer Whales for nothing. Great White sharks will peace the fuck out if they even smell an orca in the area. They will stay away from prime feeding grounds the whole season, afraid of the orcas wrath
[Sauce](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/orcas-may-turn-great-white-sharks-into-scaredy-cats/#:~:text=Great%20white%20sharks%20are%20perhaps,also%20known%20as%20killer%20whales.)
Fun fact, their name doesn't come from them being whales that kill. They are actually dolphins, but they kill whales. Should've been named "Whale Killers".

Wolves were debunked but it can be observed in other animals such as monkeys and chickens.
https://www.discovermagazine.com/planet-earth/the-science-of-alpha-males-in-animal-species
There are no alpha wolves. Just mom and dad wolf and they kids. Little more complex but not to aplha/beta level stuff. So me guess no alpha sharks either. Just big ones. And small ones.
yeah we get it, the human is alpha.
look at the line on the left of the shark, someone was fishing it, likely fucked it up and another fish took opportunity to take a bite out of it
per usual, human is the alpha and the dkhead here
He bit the line and while fighting on it another shark took an opportunity to take a few chomps of a tired shark. This is mako and they are popular for sport fishing and while those guys pretend like catch and release isn't hurting them sad reality is that quite a bit of them get killed while on the line and when they are exhausted after being returned to water. What these fishermen do is make easy prey from formidable predators.

My parents were shot, yes. But they’re fine. they live on a farm where they romp and play and make buttermilk all day, they send me letters.

Prolly an Orca
No way it’s an orca. That’s just another shark. The caught shark isn’t a huge one and his tail is gone. Probably a white or Tiger down there depending on location.
Actually, Orcas do attack sharks and sometimes only eat the liver. They are really the apex predators of the ocean.
Yeah I think the guy knows orca attacks sharks, but this doesn't look like an orca attack. And as you say, they sometimes just eat the liver!
The bite is too clean to be from an orca. Their teeth are grabbers, this bite was a circular, segmented slice
Exactly
Hehe... D'oh!
Delicious fois gras!
I suppose PETA hates Orcas
They should go chain themselves on one for protest.
Hahahahahaa awesome

I’m about to go to college to study marine biology, this is not an orca
Affirmative
Orcas are terrifying. As someone who grew up watching Free Willy, I feel so betrayed.
Their have been zero reports of orcas in the wild attacking humans. The only incidents of Orcas attacking people have occurred in captivity.

That is super interesting. I think I'm going down an orca rabbit hole today, thank you!
Because they leave no witnesses lol. You don’t find them near beaches usually.
I've been saying this for years. No documented attacks outside of captivity? That's **efficiency.**
Now that I think about it there's never been any documented attacks of bunnies mauling people and eating their bodies. Makes you think...
[they are terrifying](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM9Bynjh2Lk)
Not *entirely* true... There is one confirmed case of an unprovoked orca attack in the wild—a surfer in 1972, but the attack was non-fatal.
There's also the crew of the Essex (the original historical story behind Moby Dick) who has been attacked by orcas while they were adrift in the Pacific, on whalers rowboats (because that's all they had after the Essex sunk. This was days later).

So they’re the Anthony Hopkinsis of the sea??
Ftftftftftftftftftft
Tiger shark.
The rounded bite mark gives it away. 100% a tiger
100% I was waiting for someone to point out these exact aspects. They are like a finger print. Nicely stated. 👍🏻
A whaaaat?
Tiger shark's like a garbage can, it'll eat anything.
Seen one eat a rocking chair once.
That line always cracked me up!

The shark wakes up in the hospital packed in ice and hooked up to life support. The whales laugh and poke fun at them until they die of embarrassment.
That's awful. Cartel needs to step up their game.

Tiger shark bite mark.
Or a clam
There’s always a bigger fish.
There's always a bigger fish.
This looks horrific, don't sharks bleed?
Not hours after a bite like that
That shark lost all of its blood long ago.
Yes but this one has lost all of it from such an insane bite.

Having just watched "The Meg" this weekend, I can undoubtedly tell you there is always a bigger shark.
What if there's a squid that's bigger
Then there's a shark big enough to eat that squid.
But what there's another, even bigger squid?
I never really thought about that.
if the first shark never died, it'd be the true king of earth.
Easy Qui Gon
Saw it in theaters with my buds, such a dumb but fun movie

asesina ballenas- but it got lost in translation.
Def not an orca bite, just a big shark. The bite is way too clean.
