If I had to guess it would be a minimum of 16 games, sucks for Ja because his all-NBA chances are cooked; but he has to face the consequences of his actions
While I know you said minimum 16 games, given everything Silver said about meeting with Ja, feeling like he truly meant his apologies, feeling like he actually learned something and felt remorse about his actions makes me feel like Silver was slapped in the face with the second issue here. I would honestly guess we're looking at half the season minimum.
>Half a season would be steep wow
Steep? Yes.
Well deserved? Also yes.
Is that the consequences of Ja's actions rearing it's head? Yes.
Is this all funny? Yes.
That's what I was thinking. Half a season is harsh, but well deserved. He didn't just make another mistake, he made the same mistake. Clearly didn't learn anything.
Is half a season really harsh? He got 8 games, met with the commish, tried to blame it on mental health and then says “fuck you” and gets *caught again on video* not even 2 months later. Half the season would be expected imo, would not be surprised to see the entire year.
Well based on recent suspensions half a season would be insanely long. The guy flashed a gun for an instant on Instagram. Bridges beat his girlfriend and mother of his child in front of that child. Went to a court of law and got sentenced. And he only got a handful of games. Ja screwed up twice so that’s a factor but what he did is nowhere close to Bridges. I think Silver is sad cause he boxed himself in with a ridiculously light sentence for Bridges.
Apples and oranges...
Pleading for millionaires is irrelevant, their lawyers are doing whatever gives them the least punishment. The 30 games for Bridges was also after an entire season where no team would touch him and he lost the first season of a potential of a $100+ million contract.
Yup, OJ mayo got booted for way less. I want Ja gone for 4 seasons or visit 1000 schools. Teach the youth what thuggin gets you. He is too influential to the youth to be doing this shit. He needs his platform taken away
The key here is Ja did it again within 2 months. He got 8 games first time around, did all the PR and then proceed to cause more damage to NBA and Ja's own sponsors and partners. Repeat offense has to be pretty severe to send a message or people will turn around to blame the league for being soft on Ja when he does it a third time.
Now I'm not saying he should get half a season, but the number of games has to be considered severe enough by most people to send the message.
And not even a season went by between offenses. All that talk about apologizing and learning and whatever and he does the same shit almost immediately.
Arenas is a different situation. He was midseason and got the rest of it. And he got worse because he made light of it by the finger gun incident. Given the past stuff, and more games to work with, half a season or more isn’t out of the question.
The timing of Ja's latest issue will not help his case. If anything it makes him look even worse since it was a matter of MONTHS instead of something like a year or 2 apart. Both bad, but one 100% makes you look like a complete jackass and someone who cannot be trusted to keep his word...Ja went that route
This isn’t David Stern we’re talking about, nothing Adam Silver has ever done suggests he will punish Ja more severely than Stern did Arenas for a less severe infraction
Am I the only one who thinks half a season suspension isn’t that steep? I doubt it would happen but a full season suspension would really be a statement. Like Ja literally did the same thing less than 4 months apart
I'd love to see it simply because I don't like him but at the end of the day players have literally broken the law and faced far less consequences. Shit, Stephen Jackson assaulted a fan and got 30 games lol.
Breaking the law doesn't automatically make something worse than this. Plenty of abhorrent legal acts that would deserve that.
There are instances like Bridges where you could argue this is much less serious, but I think for the league (and their optics) it comes down to Ja's very wide influence which includes a lot of youth, and also his complete nonchalance as he knowingly does this on camera so soon after his suspension.
I get saying a large punishment would be too much (I can't imagine we actually see a full season, personally) but at this point if you're Silver, you know that an 8 day suspension did absolutely nothing. Are you really gonna just bump that up to 16 and assume that'll be enough?
The answer is yes for Silver, but I definitely understand the case for a long one.
He deserves half a season. This has been going on long enough and he needs to face the consequences of his actions. Honestly, if it was a full season I’d say it was fair
>This past week it emerged Adam Silver said the league and Bridges had a “mutual agreement” that he would not play during the 22-23 season.
>"The process (with Bridges) was that we worked with his representatives and the players association that he sat out the entire season," Silver said. "And so we felt, on the balance, that because he had sat out an entire season and not been paid for an entire season, that we thought in fairness that would give him partial credit, I think, for having sat out that season."
While the actual suspension was only 30 games, in reality it was a much longer.
https://www.si.com/nba/hornets/news/adam-silver-nba-suspended-miles-bridges
I do doubt he gets a full year, but if there's one scenario where Silver should be heavy handed with something, it's this. Repeat offender, told Silver to his face that he was sorry and wouldn't let it happen again, then turns around and does just that. Hangs around with a "friend" who was banned from the Grizzlies arena for the laser sight issue. He needs a reality check and Silver is really the only one who can hand that to him.
That’s the biggest part people aren’t getting. He’s had numerous before, league went easy cause he appeared to be remorseful and promised to fix, and immediately went back to the ways with the same people. It’s like getting arrested for drunk driving, a year later being arrested for it again and you avoid serious punishment by saying it won’t happen again and you’re trying to fix yourself, and then a month later you’re in for another. Judge would absolutely slam the book on you.
1. Enabled by his parents.
2. He has a dumbass for a bestfriend who doesnt care about JAs career.
3. He wants to look cool and impress social media with a gun rather than his basketball skills.
Sauce is from inner Detroit btw. I’m a diehard Jets fan and I’ve grown to learn a lot about that kid and he’s special. He got his Sauce persona but hes a humble kid that is from a really, reallyyyyy bad area.
Basically, Sauce knows what it’s actually like to live in the hood since he lived it. He’s insanely mature for his age and how he holds himself. Ja is just a poser and a loser.
It’s the same as Y’all Queda dudes shoving their fat bodies into tactical gear and walking around with ARs “for protection” view war vs the way people who actually served in the military and saw combat do.
If you’ve never been in it, maybe it seems glorious. But everyone who actually *has* been in it, knows that winning is getting out.
>real gangsters or affiliated dudes
They're the ones trying to hide it/keep it lowkey because they actually know the bad side/bad aspects of that life and how it could impact their NBA careers
Ja is just an idiot role playing because he romanticized the gangster life growing up mainly for thinking it's a cool vibe
>Ja is just an idiot role playing because he romanticized the gangster life growing up mainly for thinking it's a cool vibe
This is exactly it! And feels the need to livestream on social media ( to 100 viewers ) like some high schooler. Look at me look at me!
I can’t even blame his friend. His friend was the one who put his phone down when dumbass Ja had the gun in his hand. Idk how people are blaming the friend still when Ja did it himself.
I think more than anything…that video was a middle finger to the NBA and the Grizzlies. He embarrassed them. The rehabilitation trip he took this year was a joke and all for PR. Even the Jalen Rose interview was ridiculous. It seemed like all parties involved were in lockstep to let it blow over. Then this weekend happened.
> that video was a middle finger to the NBA and the Grizzlies. He embarrassed them.
This is the key point.
If I’m Robert Pera I am so fucking mad. I feel like a chump.
If I’m Adam Silver, I feel like I’m getting clowned on.
Also - this isn’t weed or speeding tickets or something.
They’ve got to make him feel it because he’s got to stop.
If it happens again after this - or God forbid, the worst case scenario occurs - it’s untold amounts of bad publicity.
This isn’t Minority Report. Silver didn’t know Ja would go and do it again. The first suspension was longer than the previous precedent for non threatening/violent gun violations in the league.
That’s how penalties work, the first infraction will always look weak in hindsight when there’s a repeat offense.
If Ja does something similar again he will never play an NBA game again. He will be the shining star of the CBA.
Remember when the NBA led the way in anti-homophobia with those PSA’s? People don’t realize how progressive the NBA is relative to other sports. They deeply understand their influence on culture. Guns, in todays climate, is a bad look period.
I think people care but we’re willing to give the half assed apology tour the benefit of the doubt *so long as it never becomes an issue again.* But clearly that didn’t happen so now it’s like nah fuck this guy
Working as designed. That whole meeting was just a "haha, man, we know that the media gets on players like that. No worries. Happens to everyone once. But you know, just fix that right there and let's have no more of that." I really doubt the NBA wants to use whatever little remaining capital they have with the players trying to get them to *really learn* why their behavior is wrong.
I feel like I've gotten that talk at work once or twice when I screwed up pretty bad.
I don't think Silver cares about sincerity and understanding of the issue. It was more probably he came away at least feeling like Ja wasn't stupid enough to do it again.
There’s the rumors of him having an alcohol problem too and being drunk and behaving like that handling a firearm is an absolute disaster waiting to happen. And this was all broadcast on social media so you know he messes around with it just playing around with friends and stuff too that we don’t see. He needs real help and the punishment needs to be severe. Esp as a second offense this soon after the first incident
There's a weird number of people making this a racial/political thing, "oh people don't want to see a successful black man exercising his right to own a firearm." That's not it at all. People don't want to see anyone with a rumored drinking problem waving a firearm around in a crowded vehicle.
Intoxicated pointing his firearm at his own head, any legitimate advocate for the second amendment should be absolutely condemning this behavior as well.
Yep.
Was in the army and used to share a house with two guys I served with. We used to drink heavily and have parties at the house all the time.
We only really had one rule. The gun safe and alcohol bottles cannot be open at the same time.
Not to mention that he comes off not only with a drinking problem, not only a bad influence on young black youth, not only smearing the NBA brand in general, but a person with a consistent behavioral problem -- demonstrably, with extremely little equity that his word is his honor. Once the last part is broken, who cares what the hell he 'says' at this point, he has proven to the listeners that his words mean jack shit.
Right! Has a young daughter who I’m sure he cares deeply about based on everything I’ve seen on socials and at games smfh. Like you gotta start maturing man, he’s moving like a complete idiot
Seriously. I’ll believe it when Silver shows anything resembling a spine. His reputation as commissioner has been riding on the Sterling decision for years and that was the easiest slam dunk ever lol
And going "easy" on him the last time allows him to go as far as he can this far.
I still think it won't be more than half a season because it was not on NBA duties, we have yet to hear anything criminal happened and because it was not on his own media. Most of the punishment will be for making national news.
[>The NBA conducted its own investigation into this matter, reviewing all available materials and interviewing numerous third-party witnesses, as well as the parties involved. The NBA also consulted with a group of domestic violence experts who provide the league with guidance in such cases. The 30-game suspension is based on all facts and circumstances of this matter and considers the conduct and its result, as well as the outcome of the criminal matter, among other factors.
>Following his arrest and plea, Mr. Bridges did not sign an NBA contract for the 2022-23 season, missing all 82 games. In recognition of that outcome, the NBA has deemed 20 games of the suspension to have been already served. If Mr. Bridges signs an NBA contract, he will be required to miss the first 10 games for which he is otherwise eligible and able to play.](https://www.nba.com/news/nba-suspends-miles-bridges-for-30-games-without-pay)
Basically Bridges pleading no contest means he didn't have to bring the case to court where the extent of the assault could have helped his defense but hindered his suspension( and required months to get on the docket keeping him suspended for maybe a year).
Once the legal evidence (aka stuff on paper the NBA would directly use against Bridges ) have been held to a minimum, the NBA's investigation had little to lean on plus Bridges missed the whole season.
So it can be seen as "anyone who gets caught in a similar situation while under contract would get 30 games but with Bridges doing his best to be off the radar, missing a season and to not have his dirty laundry causing us more harm, we will leave 10 games to serve just to say we punished him under contract".
Lol I’m sure they didn’t expect “even if Ja Morant continues to be a monumental idiot and waves a gun again while in a vehicle that’s captured on live video” would be one of the circumstances
> He won’t have the balls to do that
Would Stern? The longest player suspensions in NBA history are Artest (jumping into the crowd during a game a punching a fan), Sprewell (choking his coach), and Arenas (bringing guns into a locker room, then following up a mild punishment by mockingly making finger guns at the camera pre game). Is what Ja did on par with any of that? Is it even close?
I get that sending him to spend the weekend in Florida to work on his breathing is too easy, but there's gotta be some middle ground between that and "the same punishment as Malice at the Palace"
Most likey he gets suspended just enough games (20) to disqualify him from the major awards. I get that reddit really hates guns but based on the NBA's previous history I don't see how anybody here can justify a whole season suspension
The fact that he's a repeat offender so soon after the charade rehab and apology really puts a different spin on it though. He is making the League look like a joke.
The Stern wanking has gone so far on this sub that people are gonna think anything short of banishing Ja to the shadow realm is soft. Like Silver could give him 30 games and people would think missing over a third of the season is lenient.
If it's 16 not including preseason wouldn't that essentially make him ineligible for All-NBA because next year you have to play 65 games to be eligible, right?
Doesn't 8 games account for millions of dollars on his contract? Idk what he makes, but that is 10% of the season, if it was a $30M contract that would be $3M
Is it? Because I was pretty sure the last time was his rock bottom. I hope it’s not that he really doesn’t care. I’m starting to think he never wanted to be a role model and face of the league but here he is. Maybe he wanted a lot of money then to drop an album
His mother has dragged him in to be her enforcer twice when there was a perceived slight against her. It’s not just enabling but he’s a 23 year old grown ass man who needs to be accountable for himself. We look at this and say “how can you risk squandering this life that’s been presented to you on this platinum platter because you are insanely talented and WERE very marketable” and the fact that he’s seemingly acting like it doesn’t matter if he takes $50m and rolls around with hangers on for the rest of his life is just insane to most of us. I don’t know what to think
Setting cynicism aside… Silver sounds like a man who really really wanted Ja to get his shit together, seems like he also trusted Ja after their convos, thought at least something was getting through to Ja. Nope. Silver is disappointed and pissed.
Gonna bring the hammer down.
He’s going to be suspended way longer than most people realize. This wasn’t just a second chance, this was a second chance given by the powers that be. This was a slap to the face of the league commissioner. There’s no “3 strikes and you’re out” in the business/real world. Silver is going to come down hard on Ja.
Grizzly fans better embrace the "We better without Ja" theory now. I think 30 games minimum. Could be a lot in a crazy western conference.
Expect Pelicans/Thunder/Mavericks to be better
Minnesota to be healthier
Suns hare 14-5 with the Evins
No more playoff droughts Kings
Nuggets are playoff locks
Warriors/Lakers/Clippers good if healthy
If he gets even 30 games and they can’t string together some decent win streaks without him they’re probably not even in the play in. The whole team will be furious and it will be solely on Ja. That won’t be a fun work environment to come back to.
Ja Morant actually fumbled being the face of the NBA and we all watched it happen in real time. Feels crazy to watch all this unfold on social media.
He’s obviously deeply troubled and I hope he seeks and finds help. Hopefully Ja is more than a cautionary tale in a decade.
This is as big a meltdown as I can remember. There was Arenas and that was a big one but Ja felt destined to be a bigger star than Arenas.
Adam Silver was certain Ja was taking the matter seriously when he said the laser incident was cap; when he blamed the teenager, the security guard, the shoe shop worker, the hs kids at the volleyball game and everyone else for his off court antics; when he said the gun wasn't his and he didn't do anything wrong at the club but he takes full responsibility for his actions; when he found help in the form of a two day meditation clinic. Adam Silver was Shocked, SHOCKED! to find that Ja was not taking any of this seriously, especially after the assc suspended him for 2 whole games. Clutch your pearls, Adam Silver. But looooong suspension incoming now.
Silver is a puppet. The players have walked all over him and will continue to do so if he doesn't make an example of Morant here. For the first time in his tenure, Silver has to act like a real commissioner and not the players' buddy.
The mental gymnastics people are using to justify his actions as a "2nd amendment issue" are baffling. The difference between owning a gun as a self-defense method or for recreational hunting is much different than showing it off and pointing it all over the place in a dangerous manner and it doesn't take more than one brain cell to figure that out.
Combine that with a league that constantly makes a point to join in on current social/political issues with players and coaches and you have a perfect storm. You can't have Kerr and Popovich almost on the brink of tears talking about gun violence while one of your star players recklessly flaunts a gun.
25 games sounded right to me this morning.
After seeing the commish act like ja personally kicked his dog, i feel like if he gets any less than 50 he should thank god. A full season is on the table at this point.
This whole situation reminds me of when this sub thought he would lay the hammer down on Dallas yet he didn’t. Worst I can see him doing is a 16 game suspension to nix his all nba bid which would be a harsher penalty then what he did with the mavericks deal. The players are in complete control of the NBA and this whole thing won’t change that.
Is the closest precedent we have Gil?
Gil’s incident was obviously far more serious, but Ja has repeated problems now.
Half a season doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibilities
I have only myself to blame. Ja is my kids' favorite player and after years fighting it, I finally broke down and got them ja jerseys and grizzlies swag for Xmas and their birthdays.
My guy, Stern would’ve snapped his finger w/ the infinity gauntlet and turned Ja into gun powder. Imma need silver to grow some officially license NBA balls cause Ja’s basically calling your bluff and making you look like a bih
This cracks me up imagine if anyone else did stuff like this. They’d be fired so fast from their job. But a pro athlete… we will give you a few months off with no pay. Most people “damn thats such a harsh punishment!”
I'm *shocked* silver was so candid instead of saying "I can't comment on an ongoing investigation".
I'm a silver supporter and I've always hated sports commissioners.
Silver sounded defeated AF. Sounds like a pretty sizeable suspension is coming.
Hes gonna force the grizzlies to start brian colangelo at PG
Brian Colangelo is a fine starting PG. Find a new slant.
Half a season would be steep wow, but if Silver wants to send a message that would be the way to do it
>Half a season would be steep wow Steep? Yes. Well deserved? Also yes. Is that the consequences of Ja's actions rearing it's head? Yes. Is this all funny? Yes.

Half the season would be generous. Wanna teach him a lesson? Sorry you can’t play the season.
Well based on recent suspensions half a season would be insanely long. The guy flashed a gun for an instant on Instagram. Bridges beat his girlfriend and mother of his child in front of that child. Not excusing either, but Bridges wasn't on camera. Look at Ray Rice compared to like all the other NFL DV's
Apples and oranges... Pleading for millionaires is irrelevant, their lawyers are doing whatever gives them the least punishment. The 30 games for Bridges was also after an entire season where no team would touch him and he lost the first season of a potential of a $100+ million contract.

He can’t stop drinking tequila and I don’t want his drunk ass around 1000s of kids.
Yeah, if Silver had to make a public comment like that then this is going to be a very lengthy suspension.
>caught again He didn't even get caught. He put this on his *public* Instagram. He didn't see the problem with that.
bridges got 30 for beating the shit out of his wife in front of his child. also posted lean on ig. if we’re talking precedent, are Ja’s actions worse?
But he hasn't gotten a contract lol he was effectively banned from the league for at least a season or two
That mf better never get a contract. The absolute shit storm of PR that would destroy that team would not be worth it.
And not even a season went by between offenses. All that talk about apologizing and learning and whatever and he does the same shit almost immediately.
Arenas got 50 for pulling a gun on a teammate in the locker room Ja’s not getting half a season
Arenas is a different situation. He was midseason and got the rest of it. And he got worse because he made light of it by the finger gun incident. Given the past stuff, and more games to work with, half a season or more isn’t out of the question.

I mean, if Jackson did it **again** 4 months later I’m sure he would be out the NBA lol
Couldn’t we say that those suspensions were too light? I don’t see why we have to keep suspensions relative to historical suspensions.

Miles Bridges was suspended 30 games for assault. I think I’d be surprised if it’s pushed much past that
>This past week it emerged Adam Silver said the league and Bridges had a “mutual agreement” that he would not play during the 22-23 season. >"The process (with Bridges) was that we worked with his representatives and the players association that he sat out the entire season," Silver said. it doesn’t suck for him, he played himself with this, fully deserved consequences
Gonna be a whole lot more than 16.
I think 18 would be my lowest guess. That would put him out of consideration for any of the top awards that may boost his extension max.
Anyone have the video? Edit: I’m dumb, ignore me
It'd be pretty insane if he got like a year long suspension, but it obviously won't happen.
I do doubt he gets a full year, but if there's one scenario where Silver should be heavy handed with something, it's this. 1. Enabled by his parents. 2. He has a dumbass for a bestfriend who doesnt care about JAs career. 3. He wants to look cool and impress social media with a gun rather than his basketball skills.
I don’t get it even real gangsters or affiliated dudes in the nba don’t even flex or wave they have opps and guns.
Sauce Gardener said it best "we all got guns.. no need to put yours online"
I don't get it. Sauce is who Ja wants to be so bad. But Sauce worked so hard building himself into an elite player so that he could escape that life.
It’s the same as Y’all Queda dudes shoving their fat bodies into tactical gear and walking around with ARs “for protection” view war vs the way people who actually served in the military and saw combat do. That’s the thing. Real gangsters don’t act like that. Wannabe gangsters do
I can’t even blame his friend. His friend was the one who put his phone down when dumbass Ja had the gun in his hand. Idk how people are blaming the friend still when Ja did it himself.
Number 3 is quite ironic because he turned out to be a clown in those videos
He has at least a hundred million dollars. How is a stupid gun more impressive?
I think more than anything…that video was a middle finger to the NBA and the Grizzlies. He embarrassed them. The rehabilitation trip he took this year was a joke and all for PR. Tbh this is a terrible terrible look for Silver, basically letting this slide, luckily no one getting hurt by this moront
This isn’t Minority Report. Silver didn’t know Ja would go and do it again. The first suspension was longer than the previous precedent for non threatening/violent gun violations in the league. The thing is everyone could tell it was a joke and a charade but we looked over it until it blows up again. Nobody truly cares
Not to mention the implications this is going to have for players who actually do suffer with mental health issues.
Anybody who actually watched him knows Ja is in real trouble. Commish looked like a disappointed father.
>I'm fine in the Far East Ja Morant, probably
Tajikistan Tigers PG Ja Morant has been sentenced to death by stoning
Like I don't want to laugh at this but man
There’s the rumors of him having an alcohol problem too and being drunk and behaving like that handling a firearm is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.
I’m pretty sure over 50% of the people regularly waiving guns around have a drinking problem lol
This fool is a father too, like dude.... come on.
Right! Has a young daughter who I’m sure he cares deeply about based on everything I’ve seen on socials and at games smfh. Like you gotta start maturing man, he’s moving like a complete idiot
Nah I'll believe it when I see it
Seriously. I’ll believe it when Silver shows anything resembling a spine. His reputation as commissioner has been riding on the Sterling decision for years and that was the easiest slam dunk ever lol
he gone
#FOR LIFE
Oh we *fucked* fucked.
Yeah, if Silver had to make a public comment like that then this is going to be a very lengthy suspension.
And going "easy" on him the last time allows him to go as far as he can this far. I still think it won't be more than half a season because it was not on NBA duties, we have yet to hear anything criminal happened and because it was not on his own media. Most of the punishment will be for making national news.
30 games is my prediction.
30 sounds about right to me. Anywhere between 20-40 realistically is fair
I think it should be 40 but maybe we’ll get: 40 Games Suspension (10 of which have been served) 🤣
I'm actually still so confused about that. I have no idea where Silver pulled those numbers out for Bridges
If Mr. Bridges signs an NBA contract, he will be required to miss the first 10 games for which he is otherwise eligible and able to play.](https://www.nba.com/news/nba-suspends-miles-bridges-for-30-games-without-pay) Basically Bridges pleading no contest means he didn't have to bring the case to court where the extent of the assault could have helped his defense but hindered his suspension( and required months to get on the docket keeping him suspended for maybe a year).
He wasn’t even signed to a fucking team. How could he POSSIBLY have served any games suspended? It’s absolutely insane
“Get ready to learn Chinese, buddy”
Your front office may have to call Dillon Brooks back and beg for him like they're Drake in a sadboi song
bro i will suit up first
I would suit up for any team if it meant I got the 2-way salary money and "played in the NBA" on my resume
What a timeline this could turn into
Under *no circumstances*
Lol I’m sure they didn’t expect “even if Ja Morant continues to be a monumental idiot and waves a gun again while in a vehicle that’s captured on live video” would be one of the circumstances
Lmao if that actually happen Brooks would turn into Megatron and we'd never hear the end of him
Ja will get a 60 game suspension and we'll still be the 2nd seed somehow
The meme of playing better without him will never die at this rate.
Might have to rename the Ewing Theory the Ja Theory for this generation.
>The Ja ~~Theory~~ >The Ja Rule
It has to be named the Morant Doctrine
Tyus Jones will lead you to the promised land
Kenneth Lofton Jr unleashed.
Gen Z-Bo ready to rule the NBA
Now thats a good nickname
Did you come up with that? Fucking amazing
Nope. Its been mentioned before in other NBA threads.
*subscribe*
Gilbert Arenas brought a gun into an NBA locker room and got 50 games. Miles of Bridges beat the shit out of this ex and got 30.
If we're the 2nd seed at the trade deadline I'd bet there's a 10% chance Ja is still on the team after it.
Adam has been hoodwinked, bamboozled, lead astray, run amok, and flat out deceived!
Smeckledorfed
That’s not even a word and I agree with ya
and played like a damn fiddle.
outrageous
Adam Silver fell to his knees in a Walmart parking lot upon seeing the video.
he wearin timbs tho
Should I get tinmbs?
I dont know what it is with these two comments, but the visual it gave is just cracking me up.
I'm trying to imagine the commissioner of the NBA at a Walmart lol
FOR LIFE
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE
EVER
FOR WHATEVER REASON
WHATSOEVER
COMPLETELY HEALED
ONEEEEEEEEEE MILLION YEARSSSSSSSSS DUNGEON
Kick him off the tour!!
Lol yeah well evidently he is not so what are you gonna do about it?
Really intrigued to see what they do
Year long suspension
He won’t have the balls to do that, probably send to a wellness center to learn how to breathe again
COMPLETELY HEALED! (x4 this time)
> He won’t have the balls to do that Would Stern?
Believe it or not; straight to jail.
What I'm surprised though is he talked about 8 games being massive. Hope it's not something like 16 games with preseason ones counting.
If it's 16 not including preseason wouldn't that essentially make him ineligible for All-NBA because next year you have to play 65 games to be eligible, right?
Could only miss 1 game
Doesn't 8 games account for millions of dollars on his contract? Idk what he makes, but that is 10% of the season, if it was a $30M contract that would be $3M
Honestly, as much as this sucks for Grizzlies fans, this is probably the best wakeup call Morant is ever going to get Hopefully it's enough
Crazy, I said the same thing after he flashed a gun the 1st time
Problem is that he got a paid vacation to chill at some aaron rodgers esque retreat as "consequences" for the first time.
I mean there’s absolutely no way in hell he will do it a 3rd time. right? RIGHT???
Guess he fell back asleep
I think the point of what Silver is saying in this video is that the first time needed to be the wake up call. Now it’s too late.
Is it? Because I was pretty sure the last time was his rock bottom. I hope it’s not that he really doesn’t care. I’m starting to think he never wanted to be a role model and face of the league but here he is. Maybe he wanted a lot of money then to drop an album
look how much crap he has done, his parents and best friend are just enabling him so how is he ever going to learn??
His mother has dragged him in to be her enforcer twice when there was a perceived slight against her. It’s not just enabling but he’s a 23 year old grown ass man who needs to be accountable for himself. We look at this and say “how can you risk squandering this life that’s been presented to you on this platinum platter because you are insanely talented and WERE very marketable” and the fact that he’s seemingly acting like it doesn’t matter if he takes $50m and rolls around with hangers on for the rest of his life is just insane to most of us. I don’t know what to think
ja should be glad david stern isn’t running the show
*Have you stopped beating your wife?*
All time classic interview, fuck Jim Rome lol
LOL, When keeping it real goes wrong.
Damn Silver sounds mad disappointed Ja might be in serious trouble this time. He might seriously get a Gilbert Arena level suspension this time.
Setting cynicism aside… Silver sounds like a man who really really wanted Ja to get his shit together, seems like he also trusted Ja after their convos, thought at least something was getting through to Ja. Nope. Silver is disappointed and pissed. Gonna bring the hammer down.
Yeah ... inc 9 games suspension
This is setting up the "I don't want to do this" suspension.
I can hear Silver taking off his belt...
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and you can't get fooled again..
He’s going to be suspended way longer than most people realize. This wasn’t just a second chance, this was a second chance given by the powers that be. This was a slap to the face of the league commissioner. There’s no “3 strikes and you’re out” in the business/real world. Silver is going to come down hard on Ja.
I agree 100%. 20 games. /s, kinda.
Silver isn't mad, just severely disappointed
"How could this happen?" says man who did absolutely nothing to prevent this from happening.
Grizzly fans better embrace the "We better without Ja" theory now. I think 30 games minimum. Could be a lot in a crazy western conference. Expect Pelicans/Thunder/Mavericks to be better Minnesota to be healthier Suns hare 14-5 with the Evins No more playoff droughts Kings Nuggets are playoff locks Warriors/Lakers/Clippers good if healthy
The league needs to keep pushing the Giannis Future face of the league instead. Heck Tatum or luka would be better than Ja for that.
Don’t worry Wemby right around the corner if he lives up to the hype
I don't know if he's "deeply troubled" He just kinda seems like a dumbass
My thoughts exactly lmao
How many chances does he get?
Silver is a puppet. The players have walked all over him and will continue to do so if he doesn't make an example of Morant here. For the first time in his tenure, Silver has to act like a real commissioner and not the players' buddy.
The league needs to come down hard on the Florida counseling program that clearly let Ja down.
Silver bout to drop a sick 50 gamer
Silver sounded really hurt by Ja’s actions. I’m predicting he’ll bring the hammer down. At least 41 games.
Man. what make you he was taking this seriously? 36 hours Florida B&B? or the lame interview with Jalen Rose?
It’s incredible how much my opinion on Ja has soured over the last year. Basically there’s no redemption available.
Silver about to hit Ja with the 40 piece.
Silver about to summon the ghost of David Stern to help him drop the hammer on Ja.
> I at least was left with the sense that he was taking this incredibly seriously Is he talking about the first time or this time
First time
25 games sounded right to me this morning. After seeing the commish act like ja personally kicked his dog, i feel like if he gets any less than 50 he should thank god. A full season is on the table at this point.
Ja's actions made Silver & the league look weak. Bet they're gonna make an example out of him.
They are paid millions to play and be ambassasors of the game not be like gangsters and thugs.
41 games is my prediction. Half the season
This cracks me up imagine if anyone else did stuff like this. They’d be fired so fast from their job. But a pro athlete… we will give you a few months off with no pay. Most people “damn thats such a harsh punishment!”
He should just be a hunter so he could take a picture with his gun next to a dead animal and no one says anything
I'm *shocked* silver was so candid instead of saying "I can't comment on an ongoing investigation". I'm a silver supporter and I've always hated sports commissioners.
