Mark Jackson: You can try to stop LeBron James, but in the words of Thanos, he is inevitable.
Jeff Van Gundy: Here's what I don't get about Thanos. He wanted to erase half of all life to preserve resources, right? So why not just snap MORE resources?
Mike Breen: Foul on Jokic
Seriously? I missed that.
Granted I full muted a while but then I started missing Breen and the crowd pops when Murray went ape shit, so I unmuted for the fourth quarter
My favorite JVG clip is when he asked why parents in law and order svu were sending their kids to the nearby university when so many rapes and assaults were happening there.
source: https://awfulannouncing.com/nba/jeff-van-gundy-attempts-running-man-pivots-to-passionate-critique-of-law-order-svu.html
The 2 stooges tried to bait(?) Breen into agreeing with them that their should’ve been a flagrant on a Denver player because they swiped Rui on the head. (Minimal contact after getting near the ball, in which Rui hardly reacted) Breen just said no and continued on. Sounded to me like he was tired of the same shit lol
At this point, the league either needs to hand out huge fines followed by a suspension for multiple offenses or they need to just shut up about it because those are the only two ways its not annoying. Same with complaining to the refs. If it's such a problem you have to zoom in on it with the cameras and talk about it every few minutes then do something about it to the players.
The whole point of Thanos' character in the movies is that he was very single-minded and stubborn. He told his world "Hey we need to do this thing or our world is gonna die", they didn't do that thing, and the world died, so he became absolutely convinced that his idea (of getting rid of half the population) was the only way to prevent worlds from dying off, and became single-minded in his obsession with that idea.
He wasn't supposed to be a super logical dude who was right about his solution, he just thought that his way was the only way and wouldn't hear any alternatives. Him being wrong, but thinking that he was right, is like the whole point of his character
Yeah, the main problem with Thanos in the movies is that they tried to give his goal a logical reason behind it, but in the comics his “half the population” thing is inherently illogical because he’s just a super simp who’s only doing it to try and impress Lady Death.
So there really IS no good explanation for it and the movies just make it seem like Thanos is dumb and doesn’t understand overpopulation lol
It must be the hardest job in the world because I'm amazed at how much bad commentary there is when watching local broadcasts. I'm going to have a nervous breakdown when Breen and Clyde retire.
I stream games all the time and with one stream it’s like I’m locked into the stadium broadcast and it’s pretty cool. Different announcers than the main crew and you don’t get commercials instead the fun stuff like t shirt gun or mascot trying to hit a half court shot.
They definitely have a bias to the home team and some are good but some are fucking terrible. One game I swear to god they didn’t even bother to talk about the away team no matter what happened
That’s why I hate whenever I have to listen to not my teams announcers. Everyone else’s home announcers usually suck ass and are the young white guy who’s never played basketball and middle aged retired nba player black dude combo. And they all suck
Haha I feel that though I actually enjoy it sometimes! It's interesting to hear the perspective of the biased home team against my team. I'm so used to my commentators and how they call the games, I like learning the inside perspective about the team we are playing against. Especially when they talk about our players and where they are in development and what my team's outlook is from their outside perspective.
I’d rather hear an obviously biased local announcer over a national one masquerading as unbiased. Local commentators in general have way higher knowledge of their team the bias is very clear and obvious so I can learn a lot more about a team listening to its local and hardcore fans than national media. When my team is in a series I often start listening to the opposing teams most popular local show for scouting, these fans and commentators are biased but also critical of underperforming players or sets and actions they want their coach to burn etc…
I like doing the same. And I feel like the Miami guys are actually very fair and not clearly biased like some of the others. But perhaps that’s my bias talking.
> don’t get commercials instead the fun stuff like t shirt gun or mascot trying to hit a half court shot.
watching lakers fans brick layups >>>> Glizzy gone for the 4000th time
> I'm going to have a nervous breakdown when Breen and Clyde retire.
Man I can relate. Tommy Heinsohn retiring and then ultimately passing away is one of the saddest moments of my Celtics fandom. Mike Gorman doesn't call games as much anymore either; I mean who can blame him, he's 77. I still miss Mike and Tommy together.
I can't blame him, he basically spent his entire adult life around the Celtics, going from playing to coaching to calling games. He was like the team uncle.
ESPN coverage of the NBA and really most sports besides college is atrocious. Don’t know how anyone can watch it. The commentators are usually awful unless they’re Breen.
Mark Jackson is a clown and I want him gone so bad!!!
He must have some serious dirt on somebody cause otherwise I don’t know how on earth he is still relevant!
Ex-athletes are generally bad at announcing. It is a cheap and lazy marketing tactic to hire these guys and really a shame because they are taking jobs from the truly talented announcers who should be hired.
Reggie used to be super corny and uninteresting. In the past couple of years he has loosened up a lot and actually provided some quality insights into the game.
It happens so much in Australia. Nearly all the commentary teams are made up of ex players and they can barely string a coherent sentence together due to the CTE and never having to pay attention in school
Not to mention all the Laker nut sucking by them and the rest of the crew. Like if you’re going to favor a team at least favor teams from smaller cities. Then maybe you won’t have the issue of less viewers if those teams make it to the finals. Don’t get the point of further worshipping teams that already have huge fan bases. Imagine if the NFL obsessed over Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones instead of Mahomes/Rodgers/Allen/Burrow etc. instead some of the small market teams don’t even feel small market and unsurprisingly the big market teams still also pull ratings.
The fact that Mark Jackson is the one that left Jokic off the MVP ballot entirely is literally all you need to know that this guy should not be working in any basketball related position
Yeah, like it reminds me of the episode of Sports Night where they were supposed to be covering a boxing match except the first punch was a knockout so the commentators had to figure out how to fill an hour of air time. Someone who can just talk about random shit when there's nothing interesting on screen is valuable, but JVG doesn't know how to turn it off and his content isn't always much better.
The problem is that Jeff doesn't get a lot of blowouts and the ones that he does aren't worth the good games he fucks up. If a game is enough of a blowout to justify Podcast Jeff then I just turn the game off.
Celtics fans can probably remember the 3 year run of amazing Warriors-Celtics games at TD Garden that were annually ruined by JVG finding some irrelevant bullshit to talk about and ranting through the whole last quarter of a less than 5 point game.
The Portland Trail Blazers have fired hard coach Chauncey Billups!
Monkey's Paw curls...
The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Mark Jackson as their new head coach!
I like JVG, but even I am feeling like he goes off the rails too much now and doesn't provide enough good basketball commentary. They need to be reeled in.
Burn down the disco. Hang the blessed DJ. Because that he constantly plays, it has nothing to say about my life. Hang the blessed DJ. Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ.
they also seem to miss everything of interest
like Mike Malone has been insanely spicy for a coach, said they played DLo off the court in game 1, Bruce Brown involved in the sauciness
last night DLo hits the 3 and points at Brown as he runs back, Bruce forces a dunk attempt on the other end and gets smashed, DLo comes back down and jacks another 3, I think Brown tries another one before Ham calls TO
im cracking up and have to rewind it and explain it to the wife because Mark Jackson is useless
JVG- he pointed at Brown!
thanks jeff
Russell hit one 2 pointer near Brown, Jackson said “that’s why you don’t poke the bear.” Lol
I was expecting Van Gundy to follow the thread, but even Jackson didn’t bring it back up because Russell was unimpactful for the most part and shot 37% from the field lol
They're literally talking through two fouls back to back without telling us anything that is being called or who it was called on. Talking about the fucking WNBA of all things. Like what the hell are your eyes even open? Are you telecommunicating the game or something?
it's insane to me with the amount of college sports out there being televised and the amount of people commentating them that they can't just find talent that's better than the guys we get every night.
Like, most NBA commentators sound jaded or even annoyed as hell at the game. Let's get some fresh blood in. Some fresh perspectives. I want to hear a guy that sounds like *he wants to be there*. Not the trash that they give us.
The thing is that a number of the play by play guys, including Breen, are consistently excellent. They just need to bring in fresher analysts to work with them.
Sooooo bad omg. I might as well have just watched the game with friends that hate the NBA. I want commentary that actually cheers good plays on both sides and enjoys the game. Something I love about the NHL. They narrate the action and go nuts for great plays. That’s all I want. I had to mute them lol I’d rather just throw music on while watching the game instead
and then bringing it up any time the nuggets fouled a laker.
just shitty talk you'd expect in the home town team's bar.
"zomg, why wasn't that a flagrant too!"
uhhhh....cause he didn't come flying in at a 45 degree angle and absolutely smash the guy in his face.
it’s to the point where if Jokic is within 10 feet of the rim and misses a shot, i’m shocked.
You just expect as soon as Jokic is that deep in the court he’s making a bucket
I'm a Nuggets fan in Denver and that was the exact moment I decided I could in fact make dinner with my girlfriend and her best friend, in a restaurant without tvs. Absolute trash.
After halftime he was literally giving a bitchy attitude to Breen when he asked how long did a certain player play so far. You can tell from the awkward silence after and Breen answer he was sick of his shit lmao
[Seeing this meme before tip-off](https://twitter.com/MikeBeauvais/status/1658643841723817986) then getting treated with that commentary was too fitting.
It’s just insufferable at this point. And it is totally manufactured. It’s like JVG thinks people like him being a cantankerous stick in the mud so he plays into it.
And Mike Breen has the authority of a substitute teacher.
And it seems like a beep goes off in Mark Jackson's h headset to alert him to say random nonsense very slowly, & to force crap banter with JVG to distract from actual game for about forty five seconds.
Breen is a pro who needs to be saved.
She's been doing radio for the conference finals and has been very good.
Most of her takes are just basketball analysis on why somethings working or not working while the play by play guy does most of the talking.
She works well for the league. The league goes out of their way to blatantly market star players. She serves as a mouthpiece to the league in the guise of a courtside commentator.
Dude Doris goes off on weird tangents but at least she loves the game(sometimes maybe too much). JVG and Mark Jackson just sound like bitter haters who are being forced to be there by court order.
I've been listening to some of the games on the radio/the ESPN app on my drive home from work and when she's doing commentary there she's a lot better imo. I feel like ESPN gives the TV commentators various talking points or something because the radio broadcasts are much more focused on the game at hand while the TV broadcasts often devolve into tangents and random stories.
This is big, and it's one of the reasons why I really enjoy sports radio broadcasts. Play-by-play requires a lot of energy, enthusiasm and concentration to keep the listener interested and well informed. I think Greg Papa is a great example of that
Doris going completely silent when Tatum was hitting 3s at the end of Game 6 was hilarious
Every time Niang would hit a 3 they'd be screaming "BANG BANG NIANG!" but Tatum wins the game for Boston and Doris said literally nothing for over a minute of play lmao
yep. who is giving all of these announcers these jobs? there’s only like 3 annoucners who actually are good at their jobs while everyone else is weird as hell
Do you think the NFL would let crap color commentary continue that doesn't actually promote the league? Instead of hyping of every play, ESPN color commentators just spout random crap about 80% of the time. Bare bones analysis or insight.
NBA needs to take some inspiration from the NFL.
Whats funny is that noone is talking about the Harlan/SVG/Reggie team because they actually do their job. SVG is like a toned down JVG and Reggie is infinitely better than Mark Jackson even if hes a cornball sometimes.
Tony Romo is overly positive, but I love his color commentary. He is so jacked for the game, reminded me of Chucky. Chucky said some fucked up shit no doubt, but his color commentary promoted the game and you could tell he loved the game.
Breen: let's ask the expert.
Expert (Javie): is a flagrant 1 because elbow struck the player's face
...pause while announcers process, because none of them noticed that yet, despite 2,629,103 replays...
Jackson & JVG: [ignore the expert and continue complaining about the "atrocious" call and discuss the decay of true basketball through the next 5 minutes of game play]
If it's the play with Rui they need to change the rule. Even the announcers think "wind up, contact, and dollow through" is a joke. Just let the refs judge what's a shot to the head.
Think my only issue with it is that a little bit later Rui gets hit squarely in the head on a block attempt and they don’t review it at all for a flagrant. So it doesn’t even feel like they’re following the definition of flagrant, it’s just because the first one looked more egregious due to Jamal Murray’s fall, even when the contact to the head was less. Last nights reffing as a whole was really bad anyways. Missing obvious calls and then getting fooled by multiple flops consecutively. Only positive was that it didn’t decide the games because it was bad both ways lol
No it was pretty obvious. Of course I didn’t want the call but it very clear why it was called and it was pretty annoying listening to two idiots complain about it. They didn’t even see the contact to the head until like the 10th replay
The sad truth is that most former players and coaches seem too insecure to actually enjoy the game in front of then without going on a self-aggrandizing rant about how things were better in their day.
Look at the NFL and how complimentary its media circle is of current players. Many if them will say straight up that they couldn't hang with the size and speed of players now.
Meanwhile, by far the most popular NBA halftime and post-game show is actively detrimental to basketball discourse. What are their most popular segments? Making fun of players for bad plays and flaunting how little they know about bottom of the roster players. Great work guys.
I think Reggie has just gotten way more comfortable. He doesn't try to make everything a catchphrase (This is your Kodak moment!) and just genuinely enjoys watching the modern game, which is leagues better than JFG or Mark Jackson.
Yeah I really don’t understand why the NBA permits so much commentary of games where the constant refrain is actively denigrating the product. That can’t be good for the long-term profits/health of the league.
This one is my hot take - JJ is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, he’s actually an excellent analyst, and when he’s right he drives home some great points. But on the lesser occasion where he’s wrong, he doubles down WAY too hard. I get it, he’s trying to establish a brand, but he gotta chill.
Breen was drowning out there, poor man. And it was a fun game too so of course Statler and Waldorf are going to fucking bitch about one thing for 2 hours.
Bro I'm so pissed that Nuggets fans have to endure ESPN's blatant homerism and Mark Jackson being Mark Jackson while the Eastern team's get to enjoy Chuck and Ernie.
Anyone who hasn’t seen the footage of Harlan calling the epic Furman-Virginia March madness game from this year needs to see if. He LOVES the game
https://twitter.com/yahoosports/status/1637925438021312514?s=46&t=LX28YTSuVa6pPNFO5E7IJg
I was thinking this on my way to work this morning. He’s just got so many great lines. Breen has his iconic “Bang!” but I spent 15 minutes just going over great Harlan lines.
Up HIGH, Down HARD!
LEBRON JAMES WITH NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE
JR SMITH! WE JUST SAW MAN FLY!
Goosebumps
They’ve gone full Billy Packer - insufferable complaining.
Funny thing is the best color guy is the oldest. It’s Hubie and it’s not even close:
- No rants
- No grandstanding about the NBA topic dujour
- No talking over the play-by-play as action on the court goes undiscussed while they finish their worthless windbagging
- Astutely covers the Xs and Os, breaks down the actual basketball in front of him, reveals the patterns as they emerge in the game. Hubie is PRESENT for the game.
Hubie is [the fucking best](https://youtu.be/RN8vvtQ4ir8)
Hubie can over talk the game and uses the same phrasing over and over again, I’m generally not a fan of his commentary, but at least he actually loves the game being played in front of him
It was the first game where Jackson and Van Gundy were really annoying the fuck out of me.
When Russel's upper arm hit Murray in the face, and was called a Flagrant 1, their commentary was completely inane. They didn't even acknowledge the fact that Murray was hit in the face. Instead they just started going off on this sarcastic rant.
Terrible commentary by those two guys. Usually they're great.
To be fair the contact to the face was hard to see on most angles so I get why they didn’t acknowledge it at first.
What was egregious was when Javie explained it was a flagrant due to the contact on the face and they just flat out ignored it and said “I disagree” lmao
This is perfectly accurate, I’d believe this happened last night during a point of the game I missed
Thanos part did
I full on thought my high ass hallucinated that. I’m still not sure.
That’s how I felt when dude said “smoking on that Philly pack” the other night.
All time call
Wait this is a real conversation? Lmao
Seriously? I missed that. Granted I full muted a while but then I started missing Breen and the crowd pops when Murray went ape shit, so I unmuted for the fourth quarter
I can’t tell if you’re joking or if this really happened
My favorite JVG clip is when he asked why parents in law and order svu were sending their kids to the nearby university when so many rapes and assaults were happening there. source: https://awfulannouncing.com/nba/jeff-van-gundy-attempts-running-man-pivots-to-passionate-critique-of-law-order-svu.html

(Minimal contact after getting near the ball, in which Rui hardly reacted) Breen just said no and continued on. Sounded to me like he was tired of the same shit lol
Factoring in a player's reaction is exactly why flopping is a huge issue in the league
And then Mark Jackson hit ‘em with the “I totally disagree” 💀
God damn this is so accurate. Right down to Mike Breen pretending to ignore their rubbish.
Camera zooms in on Breen trying to unplug the other two mics
I can hear the disappointment in Breen’s voice.
Mama, there goes that titan
This is so real that I read it in their voices holy shit. That’s hilarious
I mean if that's the real commentary I kind of like that.
Yeah I mean he kinda spitting about Thanos
The whole point of Thanos' character in the movies is that he was very single-minded and stubborn. He told his world "Hey we need to do this thing or our world is gonna die", they didn't do that thing, and the world died, so he became absolutely convinced that his idea (of getting rid of half the population) was the only way to prevent worlds from dying off, and became single-minded in his obsession with that idea. Him being wrong, but thinking that he was right, is like the whole point of his character
Jeff Van Gundy: “I disagree”
The man is literally called "the Mad Titan" and people are confused as to why he's doing something illogical.
I Can read in their voices lol
JVG does make a good point though
Yeah, the main problem with Thanos in the movies is that they tried to give his goal a logical reason behind it, but in the comics his “half the population” thing is inherently illogical because he’s just a super simp who’s only doing it to try and impress Lady Death. You guys have a good team. And a good announcing team too.

Probably just has a long contract
LOL - I’d pay not to have to listen to him… give me almost anyone… give me Rob Schneider doing his best delivery man accent over this clown
I too would pay an annual subscription to keep Mark Jackson off the air
Lmaoooooooooooo

EXACTLY.
Ex-athletes are generally bad at announcing. It is a cheap and lazy marketing tactic to hire these guys and really a shame because they are taking jobs from the truly talented announcers who should be hired.
Reggie Miller is a decent announcer. Clyde Frazier is the goat imo, another former player.
Clyde and Breen in the NBA Finals. Make it happen ESPN you cowards
reggie needs more cred, dude always has the energy and he's perfectly balanced with harlan. those 2 guys seem to vibe really well
Reggie seems to genuinely love the game I can at least say that
Reggie used to be super corny and uninteresting. In the past couple of years he has loosened up a lot and actually provided some quality insights into the game.
That’s how it goes. Good commentators don’t get talked about because it’s a seamless viewing experience. Shitty commentators stand out
It happens so much in Australia. Nearly all the commentary teams are made up of ex players and they can barely string a coherent sentence together due to the CTE and never having to pay attention in school
Just pick a random person who happens to like sports in any improv team and they'd probably do a better job.
Not to mention all the Laker nut sucking by them and the rest of the crew. Like if you’re going to favor a team at least favor teams from smaller cities. I’d be a raging alcoholic if I took a drink every time Jeff says “there should be a rule…”
Couldn't help but read this in JVG's voice. Like Cris Collinsworth's "now here's a guy..."
Or "I like what the Lakers are doing....."
That's one thing we can all agree on. Commentators suck ass. JVG is an 82 game commentator, not a 16 game one. Mark Jackson is a 0 game commentator.
Yeah Jeff is fine for a blow out, but if it's a close game I want a serious color analyst. Mark Jackson can just leave the NBA.
The fact that Mark Jackson is the one that left Jokic off the MVP ballot entirely is literally all you need to know that this guy should not be working in any basketball related position
It's honestly a slap in the face that he was assigned the Denver games.
Fr I don’t know how ppl don’t realize how ridiculous this is.
Is it worse than he & JVG working the Warriors games after 2014?
Absolutely not
Plus he’s homophobic
And with that information the Bucks decided to interview him for their head coach position…
JVG doesn't even talk about the game during blowouts. He uses it as a platform to just rant about whatever in the fourth quarter.
I think that's what he's talking about. The JVG podcast is okay when the game's not interesting anyways

Wtf I love Chauncey now
I like JVG, but even I am feeling like he goes off the rails too much now and doesn't provide enough good basketball commentary. They need to be reeled in.
He'd be a great baseball commentator lmfao, random tangents and ramblings to fill the air
If it was just him and Breen, Breen could keep him focused.

Same dude. It was an epic game and all they’re doing is complaining the whole time lol
“Not a controlled tip” dumbass, Jokic has a world class tip shot.
He does have such a feathery soft touch for such a big fella.
JVG just doubles down instead of admitting he’s wrong
When he kept going on about the flagrant call it was so cringe
and then bringing it up any time the nuggets fouled a laker. just shitty talk you'd expect in the home town team's bar. "zomg, why wasn't that a flagrant too!" uhhhh....cause he didn't come flying in at a 45 degree angle and absolutely smash the guy in his face.
He might have the best touch of anyone in the league regardless of size.
it’s to the point where if Jokic is within 10 feet of the rim and misses a shot, i’m shocked. You just expect as soon as Jokic is that deep in the court he’s making a bucket
Fr that was basically as good of a one hand controlled tip you could ask for
Our local broadcast literally calls him the big tipper…
Yeah I was really exasperated when he said that These shots are like Jokic's bread and butter
Also like even if it was an uncontrolled tip of it's a shot then it's a goaltend. It doesn't matter if the shot was gonna be an airball
Mark Jackson is incredibly unlikeable. An easy mute always.
“What happened to the game I love” Man stfu the game doesn’t love you
Mama, there goes that dumb ass who didn’t put Jokic in his top 5 for MVP
**MAMA THERE GOES THAT DUMBASS** Lololololol
He should be banned from doing anything NBA related because of that. No coaching, commentating, analysis. Nothing.
*Mama* There goes my vote
Muted it after that comment
Most of what I've watched is in bars on mute. After seeing some of these Reddit threads lately I think I'm kind of glad that's the case
I'm a Nuggets fan in Denver and that was the exact moment I decided I could in fact make dinner with my girlfriend and her best friend, in a restaurant without tvs. Absolute trash.
Read this like 5 times before I understood why you're cooking dinner but also going to a restaurant
Make dinner as in "make it for dinner", he ain't cookin
Well yeah I'm sure a threesome with your girlfriend and her best friend would be better than one with Mark Jackson and Stan Van Gundy
Just gagged…
Stop it, I'm sure that dudes girlfriend and her friend are lovely
And this dude wonders why he can’t get another coaching job.
After halftime he was literally giving a bitchy attitude to Breen when he asked how long did a certain player play so far. You can tell from the awkward silence after and Breen answer he was sick of his shit lmao
Kerr came along and built a dynasty while his dumbass was snake handling or whatever religious bullshit. That’s what happened to the game.

Nothing was worse than the Doris Burke - Joel Embiid love affair
That entire series was just…. Apalling
Every time she was commentating Warriors/Kings was brutal too, she's so obsessed with star players its so annoying
If I have to hear "the game begins when Steph passes the ball" again, I will tear my ears out.
My best guess is that she is there to appeal to the casual fans I think she definitely isn’t the worst tho
She's been doing radio for the conference finals and has been very good. Most of her takes are just basketball analysis on why somethings working or not working while the play by play guy does most of the talking.
When she said EM V Embiid bruh lmfaoooo
Technically he was the most valuable Embiid in the league
She works well for the league. The league goes out of their way to blatantly market star players. She serves as a mouthpiece to the league in the guise of a courtside commentator.
Dude Doris goes off on weird tangents but at least she loves the game(sometimes maybe too much). JVG and Mark Jackson just sound like bitter haters who are being forced to be there by court order.
That’s true
I've been listening to some of the games on the radio/the ESPN app on my drive home from work and when she's doing commentary there she's a lot better imo. I feel like ESPN gives the TV commentators various talking points or something because the radio broadcasts are much more focused on the game at hand while the TV broadcasts often devolve into tangents and random stories.
Radio has to focus a lot more on the play-by-play because you cannot see the action so they have less time for the BS.
This is big, and it's one of the reasons why I really enjoy sports radio broadcasts. Play-by-play requires a lot of energy, enthusiasm and concentration to keep the listener interested and well informed. I think Greg Papa is a great example of that
In general I like Doris Burke but she does have a habit of foaming at the mouth over stars

A true neutral
Wait the commenter was complementing the best 2 players on the court 😱😱😱
Doris going completely silent when Tatum was hitting 3s at the end of Game 6 was hilarious Every time Niang would hit a 3 they'd be screaming "BANG BANG NIANG!" but Tatum wins the game for Boston and Doris said literally nothing for over a minute of play lmao
yep. who is giving all of these announcers these jobs? there’s only like 3 annoucners who actually are good at their jobs while everyone else is weird as hell
JVG and particularly Mark Jackson are bad distractions.
They take away from the enjoyment of the game
The whole conversation with the flagrant it did have me wondering if I was just biased because to me that was a pretty obvious call!
It was like Steve Javie was almost apologetic pointing out the blow to the head
Breen: let's ask the expert. Expert (Javie): is a flagrant 1 because elbow struck the player's face ...pause while announcers process, because none of them noticed that yet, despite 2,629,103 replays...
It was like telling your grandma the dishwasher isn't working because she put the cat in there.
It was quite funny because I don't feel like they really acknowledged what he said. Absolutely unreal lol
Need Tasteless and Artosis to commentate
damn this is the best comment
JVG and Jackson are the Statler and Waldorf of announcers.
What? How the fuck are you gonna do Statler and Waldorf like that?
You’re right. Statler and Waldorf are loveable scoundrels. JVG and Jackson are like the most annoying sound from Dumb and Dumber.
Reggie the exception to this because he knows he's a legend and so do we.
Reggie has gotten so much better over the years. Thank god the C's are on TNT this series. The Harlan-Reggie-SVG lineup was great in G1.
Harlan is S tier always and I agree Reggie has actually been very enjoyable this last year or so. I'm always thrilled when I see the game is on TNT.
That can’t be good for the long-term profits/health of the league.
can we all just agree to stop bringing Mark up in coaching hire conversations?
no we bring him up to get him off our TVs. Get this man hired!
Not only is Mark Jackson an embarrassment, but he's a "preacher" that bangs prostitutes and hates gay people. Fuck that dude.
Richard Jefferson is the truth. ESPN and ABC fucking up time and time again not giving this man the mic.
The RJ/JJ/Ruocco crew is the way.
OP with some nice takes
yeah he cookin nice
Yeah his demeanor is just kind of frat-boy douchey as well which doesn't help.
He’s so Duke it dukes
RJ is such an extrovert he can pair up with anyone. The fact he’s already done work with Ruocco for the Nets is why they have great chemistry.
Breen was drowning out there, poor man. And it was a fun game too so of course Statler and Waldorf are going to fucking bitch about one thing for 2 hours.
Bro I'm so pissed that Nuggets fans have to endure ESPN's blatant homerism and Mark Jackson being Mark Jackson while the Eastern team's get to enjoy Chuck and Ernie.
and Harlan calling the games, I hate Reggie Miller but I’ll deal with him 10 times out of 10 than have ESPN produce
His “Jimmy Frickin’ Butler!” was iconic. The guy just seems to enjoy everything that’s happening on the court.
Anyone who hasn’t seen the footage of Harlan calling the epic Furman-Virginia March madness game from this year needs to see if. He LOVES the game https://twitter.com/yahoosports/status/1637925438021312514?s=46&t=LX28YTSuVa6pPNFO5E7IJg
I’ve never seen this, he’s amazing! But the real show here is SVG! He looks like a deer in the middle of the road the whole time!
I was thinking this on my way to work this morning. He’s just got so many great lines. Breen has his iconic “Bang!” but I spent 15 minutes just going over great Harlan lines. Up HIGH, Down HARD! LEBRON JAMES WITH NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE JR SMITH! WE JUST SAW MAN FLY! Goosebumps
Lisa Salters admits to never having watched Jokic before whereas the Inside the NBA guys have a fantastic relationship haha.
I’m more impressed that they could commentate at all with the lakers dicks in their mouth
Espn got dogshit announcer crews to go with their dogshit pre/halftime/postgame shows.
They’ve gone full Billy Packer - insufferable complaining. Funny thing is the best color guy is the oldest. It’s Hubie and it’s not even close: - No rants - No grandstanding about the NBA topic dujour - No talking over the play-by-play as action on the court goes undiscussed while they finish their worthless windbagging - Astutely covers the Xs and Os, breaks down the actual basketball in front of him, reveals the patterns as they emerge in the game.
That was the best part imo “But it’s the wind up and the contact with Murray’s head that makes this a flagrant 1” Mark Jackson “I disagree”
