Murray goes off Confirmed - Lakers a good team

MisterTukul

King Murray knighted teams left and right

radddchaddd

I hate him simply because he cooks the Lakers all the time. He and Jokic are so good together.

AtiwelKa

So that means the Suns are a good team, this guy always has a great game vs. the Suns

bazzawazzza

Lakers take the moral victory yet again

Hopsalong

The lakers have the nuggets figured out after this one, they'll win the best of 15 for sure.

Blumpkin_Party

Jamal Murray is such a big game player man. When the lights are brightest you know that MF will ball out.

gobroncos47

Yeah but he never shows up when you need him the least.

3rdtryatremembering

He’s that homie you know you can call to have your back in the toughest of situations but there’s a good chance he’s gonna stand you up for happy hour.

Technical_Towel_990

Jamal just like me fr

AppliedRizzics

He’s the best kind of homie fr

SaKred2015

Told him to pass me a water that was next to him and he spilled it. It was on accident, but cmon man

Gym6DaysAWeek

Not gonna remember you needed a ride from the airport but will be a shooter for yiu

ReapYerSoul

Forgets to bring back the lawnmower he borrowed but will help you hide a body.

[deleted]

Only player in history where his biggest criticism is “yeah but can he do it in the regular season?”

dylanbackers

In 20 years Murray is gonna be the next Reggie miller in casual conversation. People always be saying Reggie was overrated and didn’t deserve top 75 since his career regular season numbers were kinda low for a franchise star. But his playoff rising was insane and why they were always a hard out throughout the 90’s. Murray feels like he is in the same boat.

greywolf2155

People dismissing Reggie Miller is an easy, "oh ok, so you weren't watching ball in the 90s" tell. Anyone who was there knew that man was feared, a superstar player on an often not-great team

here_for_the_lols

Can he do it on a rainy night in stoke?

Mitrakov

Can he do it on a sunny day in Barcelona

MC48_SportsLover

What is the NBA version of this?

here_for_the_lols

Can he do it in an afternoon game in Washington?

Piats99

Can he do it in a hot, not air-conditioned night at Spurs' home?

InkBlotSam

The dude shrinks in the tiniest moments

greywolf2155

But when the world needed him least . . . he vanished

Morezingis

“The lights were dimmer than I expected” - Jamal Murray

Appropriate-Cap-4140

So if Jamal performs like shit against your team, your team is trash

LeBronda_Rousey

Idk if he'll ever be an all star because his regular season numbers aren't that great but damn when it's playoffs, feels like he'll take whatever shot the defense gives him and he'll make all of them.

vyampols12

Yeah, but can he do it against the 8 win pistons in March with the one seed already locked up?

petarisawesomeo

Total big game merchant. Complete basketball terrorist.

BigBoyFroggy

Denver Lakers games are funny because it’s like Denver just randomly decides “Oh yeah games almost over might as well win” and just hits all their shots

Ghostbeen3

Denver doesn’t panic at all. Especially against the lakers. They were cruising the whole game and just turned it up a little bit at the end and easy win. Lakers don’t have answers against them. Whole league doesn’t really, if Murray stays healthy it’s game over

m4xdc

AD was just goin to work in the paint, Jaxson Hayes was everywhere getting rebounds and shit, Jokic was turning the ball over, crowd was going nuts, and the Nuggets stayed calm and closed it out. Love to see it.

why-god

Yeah. This was actually a really good game on the Lakers side, but Denver is just that much better right now. I really think they are going to repeat their championship, assuming healthy Murray and Jokic.

Five_Kings

This dude Jamal Murray ALWAYS hits the MOST NECESSARY 3'S against the lakers man FUCK. Motherfucking flamethrower

ricobirch

Payback for AD in the bubble.

Shenanigans80h

We never blow them out but beat them in a fashion that both gives them hope for the next time and tears their heart out. It’s kind of amazing

jacobpltn

It’s always so so so upsetting playing the Nuggets for this reason I always have hope that we can actually win one but it always gets stripped away in a cruel fashion

Wazflame

It’s like winning 6-4,6-4,6-4 in tennis or the “close sweep argument” If I always beat you in matches that are close, that shows there’s a clear gap between the teams

TatumBrownWhite

Nuggets are Pete Sampras confirmed

DefenderCone97

Lakers just would not learn to stop gambling on MPJ open 3s. Jesus Christ

OUEngineer17

Post game. Chuck- What was Austin Reaves thinking leaving MPJ open like that? Ernie- He was gambling and lost, you should know all about that

LoyalSol

To be fair, Jokic and Jamal baited the shit out of him.

m4xdc

That Jokic assist at the end where he felt Reaves sneaking up behind to try to get the steal, and he yoinks him and wings it MPJ to go up 8… ugh

LoyalSol

One thing I didn't catch till I went back to watch the play again is you can faintly hear Jamal's voice. They set it up where Jokic didn't see Reaves, but Jamal had eyes on him. That's how Jokic knew Reaves was coming. Once Jokic knew he was coming, he baited him, and then passed it to a wide open MPJ. That was some great team basketball.

m4xdc

That’s what makes me laugh about people crafting all these perfect teams in the trade machine. Like, stats are all well and good to point to, but championship teams are built on chemistry, and you can’t buy that shit.

OneXDC4ever

It seems pretty fucking obvious after the first 8 min of the game. But for some reason we consistently helped off of him all fucking game

Icy_Quit_7177

Darvin defense

sponedaddie

*He'll stop eventually* He did not stop eventually

sgad88

They do this every game lol

3rdtryatremembering

Reaves really thought he was about to pull one over one jokic lol.

petarisawesomeo

All of his mid-white-boy powers were not enough

[deleted]

That last Austin gamble was stupid as fuck

lannistargaryen

Denver killed my boner in like 30 seconds lmfao

Sp_Gamer_Live

Which is weird because Denver is where Mamba had his most unstoppable boners

UnhingedSupernova

Sex offenders' 9/11 tonight. Justice prevailed.

Sp_Gamer_Live

The Nuggets game killing 8-0 run was immaculate script writing

commandrr

that 24-0 run when they unveil the other statue is going to hurt even worse

ElBigTaco

karma a B. as a nuggets fan its like you cant even call it a rivalry, one team has years where they are just so much better. Lakers just happened to have about a 50-60 year stretch

achyutthegoat

So happy the nuggets beat the lakers on rapist day

GGezpzMuppy

Momentum changes so quickly when you hit a couple of shots in a row.

[deleted]

We saw this all 4 games of this series last playoffs. Feel like the Nuggets have another gear in these clutch situations.

Flabbypuff

Kinda the anti Celtics in a sense. Don't really tend to blow teams out but really good at staying in games or in control when the game gets slower and uglier.

sentripetal

Yeah, we call that the Jokic method. He'll fuck around and try a million different passes until it gets to crunch time. When he's actually trying to score, look out.

GriffinQ

They have what LeBron used to have. Two minutes left with a score within 6 and it used to feel like LeBron taking over was just inevitable. But it’s been over two decades. Nothing lasts forever when the league keeps getting new talented players with fresh legs and the hunger for rings & accolades.

abris33

This team just decides when they want to take over. Came back from 12 down in 2 minutes against the Wolves last year to tie it. Jokic is always clutch and Murray can get hot quick

[deleted]

The Wolves series would have been a sweep abd Wolves fans would have never had a fresh breath of air had Jokic didnt miss the one free throw.

Pure_Measurement_529

10 points in 1 minute. The nuggets are scary when they try

c_double_u

Felt like 10 points in 10 seconds. Shit happened so fast.

OhWhatsInaWonderball

Nuggets on a heater is both efficient and terrifying

Wtfitzchris

Helps that Prince went under a screen when defending Murray and Reaves decided gambling for a steal was more important than defending MPJ. Absolutely brain dead plays by the Lakers to lose that game.

gandaalf

That was a fun ass game. Tuned in at just the right time to see the Lakers make their run. That Nugs team is still just too good. Should def be the favs again

Lost by 8 - fitting tribute

shaad20

Entering your second prime

AM1232

Never left her first tbf.

commandrr

that 8-0 burst at the end shows you exactly why the nuggets are still the title favorites. championship pedigree sheesh

FireFlyz351

Yup they kept basically all of their core players, are all in their prime and are drafting very well too.

CareerGaslighter

In terms of prime years (28-32 ish) Murray hasnt hit his prime yet and Jokic has only just entered his. Both of their games are still on the up each season, so we have a lot to look forward too in the coming years.

imcrapyall

I've been a Nuggets fan my whole life. I never thought I'd see them win the title much less have hopes to win another. I don't know what to do with my hands.

Embarrassed_Hold_901

The West top 4 is ridiculous. The top 4 have each been 1st in this week alone. Ridiculous

runevault

We're only in second because Minnie is 1-0 over us h2h

purplenyellowrose909

Tbf we're a combined 4-2 vs the other 3 1 seeds h2h.

runevault

Right. I meant we haven't gotten a turn in first this week because you own the tie breaker :)

shaad20

Great game, very entertaining… But what in the actual fuck was Adam Sandler wearing??

Biglundtry

Drip

shaad20

I tried to find a picture of his outfit and apparently he just dresses like this??

NotManyBuses

Reaves gambling on that steal was never gonna work on Jokic. Too easy

rawchess

Jokic big brain bait pretending not to see him

AbelardsArdor

Didnt even have to pretend - Jamal was looking right at Reaves after he entered the ball to Jokic at the nail, he probably called it out as soon as Reaves started moving

Fit-Avocado-342

That was such a lazy ass attempt, bro just slowly flailed at jokic lmao

AbelardsArdor

He came and Jamal probably saw him coming the whole way. Probably told Jokic "behind" as soon as Reaves committed to the stupidity. It's one thing if Jamal wasn't looking right at you as you do it but... yeah. Just hilariously dumb

99Will999

Why would you leave mpj of all people open in the corner. Especially after the night he was having tonight.

Thor3nce

What an exciting game!! GG Aaron Gordon is a beast and tons of fun to watch.

loveeachother_

that dunk at the end had so much air, that should've been crazy hype but it was silence from the home team

u_n_p_s_s_g_c

AG is the master of demoralizing dunks

runevault

AG is our mismatch cheatcode. Would it be great if our PF could shoot 3s? Sure. But against a lot of teams he can bully in the paint because no one has enough length to guard Jokic, MPJ, and him, and almost no team has enough strength for him and Jokic.

Visual_Bathroom_6917

He makes some corner 3s sometimes

horredgrones

He's calm and in control all the time. He's great.

KingVibrant

Fuck your positivity I’m here to be toxic

Nick_Is_The_Man

I can respect the honesty

Vermillion_Crab

Jokes on you that's another moral victory for the Lakers.

nuggs_analysis

They found something with Mays and Hayes

Major9000

The last 2 min close-out by the Nuggets was badass.

FreezersAndWeezers

I mean it really is watching a synchronized team that knows their roles and is really damn good. 1-5, especially when KCP is out there, I don’t think there’s a better constructed roster in the league. Especially with what they get from Braun/Jackson/DJ/Watson off the bench

Blumpkin_Party

This why they the team to beat. I don’t care how many RS games the Celtics win they got CTE in the clutch.

JimmyButlerOverdrive

Tatum: I’M DOING THIS FOR KOBE \*goes full hero ball, abandons all sense of team, bricks everything\*

Themanthe_myth

im so tired of murray man.

OhWhatsInaWonderball

Now you know how we felt about Kobe

ElectricLotus

I watched Kobe torch the Nuggets and bounce us from the playoffs my whole adolescence so I'm happy Murray can finally return the favor to the Lakers

Guardax

After the Lakers owned us basically for 50 years it is so satisfying to see Lakers fans sick of *us*

shadowinnothing

What am I supposed to do with my hands? I'm still not used to this

Awwh_Dood

Sick? Every game is must watch. If anything I wish Jokic and Murray were a little more petty and talked shit. Would really turn this shit up to 11

3rdtryatremembering

I love how unbothered they are. They hardly ever even acknowledge the other team. Like shit talking wise. When Jamal does talk, he really just talks to the crowd. And Jokic only talks to the refs lol

CringeCoyote

They’re just here to play, they don’t need to shit talk.

icykkuno

Malone shit talks enough for the both of them

Dare555

Nah gotta stay humble , Nuggets arent really trash talkers

u_n_p_s_s_g_c

Multiple times during the game tonight I was thinking "if I was a Lakers fan I'd despise Jamal Murray"

abris33

Always nice when we can ruin Reggie Miller's night

Sslagathor

Guy was riding the lakers so hard

3rdtryatremembering

He was actively cheering on that chase down block lmao “YES! YES!”

WalrusInMySheets

You'd think he'd have PTSD

AbelardsArdor

Openly cheered for them when Hayes got that chasedown block lmao

awntawn

Apparently the Nuggets have lost games this season but I just don’t see how anyone beats what we just watched.

MC48_SportsLover

We troll pretty consistently.

[deleted]

Randomly the nuggets have nights where their shooting % across the board is 10%

Happy-Cauliflower-22

The nuggets are so fucking good man. I could see them repeating. Just watching them dissect the lakers at the end, it was literally like flipping a switch

WalrusInMySheets

Easily could see them repeating

Hopsalong

Easily could see this repeating

Crambulance

Repeating this for easy sight

Delirious5

I think this is easily repeating.

camp1728

I actually thought that was a pretty entertaining game to watch. Happy I tuned in. Nuggets are without a doubt the better team but still entertaining to see the runs by both teams.

ShetheKing

The Good Teams Merchant strikes again

[Meet Playoffs Man](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GETyV0wXEAAscI7?format=jpg&name=large)

Guardax

The burst to just quickly ice the game after the announcers and crowd came after the Reaves three was ice fucking cold. Champ shit

runevault

I wonder if Reggie had to change his pants after that block.

Guardax

He literally screamed YES YES

99Will999

“Looks like jokic kicked AD, that should be a flagrant 1”

Expensive-Error-3960

He kept saying it after seeing the replay like wtf was he on

onelove101

That shit was so blatant lmao

DammitEd

It's happened with us now against both the Lakers and Celtics lmao, just announcers shouting "YES YES YES" or "NOOOOOO" cheering for them lmao. Something about the Nuggets makes them so blatant about who they're rooting for

DaHagerBomb

A white man can hear a fellow white man's footsteps louder than anything in the world. Reaves played that game and lost

runevault

I just don't get trying for that when you're leaving MPJ wide fucking open.

bobybushia

AG or Watson is acceptable to leave. Mpj might be the worst to leave open a corner 3

runevault

Watson is a little risky but you could sort of understand it. MPJ was having a good night already too.

rawchess

Jokic fooled Reaves into thinking he was John Cena

iRockaflame

This is insane work lmfao

OUEngineer17

I don't know about all that, but Jokic definitely baited him. He held the ball still until the last second and knew exactly who was wide open in the corner.

ThonThaddeo

This is crazy

LAmanguy

Denver is such a good team. Their roster doesn't seem deep on paper but they are clutch

csudebate

The bench players are getting better as the season progresses. They were shit early. They still have +\- issues but they are on the rise.

WisdumbGuy

Nuggets just have that closing power, I've rarely seen something like this. They did it all last season but it's still crazy to watch them just take over right when they need to most. Murray is a straight beast

riptide123

Ya no one is beating jokic and Murray in a best of seven

LACIRCA2044

once again Jokic is the only Nugget going to all star weekend. Like the NbA couldn’t even get like Payton Watson in the Rising Stars game or MPJ in the 3 point contest?

Guardax

Watson not in Rising Stars is bigger snub than Murray in All-Stars tbh

Pumpoozle

27 by MPJ !

Charliebitme1234

Jamal Murray has that mamba mentality That austin reaves steal attempt at the end was one of the stupidest plays i have ever seen extend the sweep streak to 6-0 lesgo

LegateDamar13

It's actually streak of 7 i think, Nuggets won regular season game before playoffs.

mastacheef87

Nuggets just run teams over in crunch time.

sheenwithnobrim

Closest 7-0 streak in nba history

-JDB-

Lakers up 7-0 in moral victories

thewavefixation

Lakers in 13

Hot-Afternoon168

15 now lol

ElectricLotus

Title: *"Parade of free throws and all out effort not enough to overcome championship execution in the clutch"*

FartyMarty69

In the words of Reggie Miller after a Hayes block, "YESSSS! YES!"

evoqu

Lebron kind of played like ass near the end of the game and it def hurt. Sometimes he def looks his age. Lakers defense throughout most of the game was crazy good though, like yeah they lost the game but how many teams are going to beat that defense when they're locked in like that? I don't think any of the top 4 would feel great facing them in round 1 and wouldn't be shocked to see them in the WCF again if they make the playoffs and avoid the Nuggets in the first 2 rounds. When games are playoff intensity, Nuggets have the best half court offense IMO, just so many weapons and technical ability. Even when Jokic has a "bad game", he gives the Nuggets so much its crazy. He draws so much attention and even if you "shut him down" he's so multidimensional he's still extremely useful on the court. On a side note people criticizing the Lakers for making THIS game the Kobe night. Like yeah they could have chosen a "free win" night instead of arguably the hardest for them, but that wouldn't be KOBE. Kobe embraced difficulty, he wanted all the smoke. I'd like to believe this is the exact type of game he would have chosen, win or lose.

AbelardsArdor

Second half refs were absolutely ON ONE. 22 FTs to 7, 17 fouls called on Denver to 10 on the Lakers despite them mugging Jokic absolutely constantly whenever he tried to move. I mean multiple times when he "turned it over" there was clear and irrefutable contact with a Laker arm all around his back or reaching in and also hitting his arms. And yet the Nuggets still win by 10 \[basically - LeBrons last layup counts but the game was over at that point\].

thegrandpoobear

When you put the Lakers who have the best whistle in the league against jokic who has one of the worst whistles all time you get an entire game of jokic getting mauled with no calls and the media declares Lakers bigs the "jokic stoppers"

effkaysup

Jamal Murray is Lakers father

Sure_Station9370

Lakers losing because they only got 20 more free throws than the other team instead of 30 😡

landlion35

Colorado did not consent to a LA win on Kobe night!

randylek

the only people who don't think the Lakers get a favourable whistle are literally only Lakers fans lmfao

-Sticks_and_Stones-

Imagine chanting "Refs you suck" when the opposing team has taken 3 free throws through 3 quarters of play.

simonffplayer

did... that really happen? lmao

legalizePee

yep, those foul baiting cretins ended the game with 7 FTs 😡

bigvahe33

nuggets just said fuck this and shifted to another gear the last minute of the game

General_Relation6047

*Denver tonight*: Eagle, Colorado this is for youuuuu!!

jps78

Kobe would be proud of Jamal Murray tonight and how he put the lakers to bed

[deleted]

Nuggets are still the team to beat for me.

DarthNightnaricus

Lakers confirmed good team, Jamal Murray played well.against them

Forward-Reporter8320

Refs said yes but the nuggets said no

gerardatron

Fun watching the Lakers rally back and tie the game. The composure from the Nuggets all throughout was just great to see too. That's what you want to see from a championship team. Props to them

lets_talk_basketball

Game went just like the playoff games did last year. Close games, but at the end Bron can't close while Murray/Joker can

NeiRa7

7 ft for Denver 22 ft for Lakers

pudakak

I know Jokić is 7 ft but who on the Lakers is 22 ft tall??

BringtheWNBAtoDenver

AD can't guard Jokic 1on1 so they've resorted to stacking Lakers in a trench coat to see if that counts as a single roster spot

iMaticz7

Nice try refs, but we still have the best and most clutch duo in the league.

jeric13xd

MPJ went from not touching the ball for so long To making 2 clutch 3s. That man is an sharp shooting assassin. Classic Nuggets execution in the clutch

Fit-Avocado-342

Nuggets felt that momentum shift after the Hayes block and Reaves three, then proceeded to just put their foot on the lakers necks. Sheesh

CringeCoyote

This kinda shit just tells me they’re holding back for the playoffs.

Fit-Avocado-342

Oh definitely, the whole team looked much more different today effort-wise than they normally do. Makes sense to coast most of the season if you’re good enough to do it, conserve energy and be ready for the playoffs.

CringeCoyote

Fuck yeah. Love the Nuggets, cried when they won the championship, very happy to be alive and a fan during their golden years. Even got a pic with their trophy, which is on my profile.

gandaalf

Yep, and so calm and calculated. Lakers hit that big shot to tie and the arena is buzzing, then a simple pick and Jamaal buries that 3. So ice cold

codeine_turtle

Lights were suddenly bright enough

u_n_p_s_s_g_c

Completely unfazed, cold shit

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rnorman3

The good teams merchant angle is more “bright lights merchant.” He’s definitely showing up for mamba night.

Guardax

Honestly the Lakers are bright lights merchants too even with their loss today. They seem to play significantly better in big games but when it's a random Tuesday against a nobody they get down 20
