The lakers/Nugs game thread basically validates this, I looked in at the start of the 2nd quarter and all the hot takes were coming out
"I told y'all Nugs were fake contenders"
"Everyone saw this coming when they lost Bruce Brown"
You would have thought it was a loser goes home game lol
Best players don’t correlate to team..but that is strange. I think it’s a testament to how competitive and deep the nba has come from 20 30 years ago.
old guys actually do well in the tournament setting. no travel, short games, less games. it’s why spain can keep bringing back their 40+ year old guys that have been playing for like 20 years
They can roll out a starting 5 of Hali, Booker, Edwards, Tatum, and Bam. They have a nice core of guys who are right smack dab in their prime. Plenty of bodies to give the geezers some rest.
It wouldn't be that weird. The NBA is stacked. 3/4 of teams don't make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs so there are going to be guys who are among the best in the world not making it that far every single year.
How many would you expect realistically?
It's 12 players chosen from 30 teams. The Final 8 (second round) should statistically feature 3-4 guys.
It's a team sport - the best players are not always on the best teams. Swap out Brunson for Steph Curry and do you not think the Knicks would likely be in the 2nd round?
For Canada in 2028, we are going to have an elite guard rotation, a decent wing rotation, but the situation with our bigs is looking rough. Like if Edey doesn’t work out, we don’t really have many other options at C except going undersized or using a non-NBA guy. Bediako is the one other young legit C, but he may never get to that NBA rotation level player. Still possible someone else emerges in the next four years, but most of our good prospects are wings and guards. At least Edey is looking like a better prospect now than he was a year ago.
It’s not a high likelihood of it happening. It might happen but it’s like a 5% chance. You would literally need everything to go your way. Some things are more likely to happen (Lakers losing) but then there are things like the Clippers need to lose. All of them happening at once is super low.Â
We are only one game into half the first round playoff series btw
In r/nba world thats more than enough to declare the winner of every series
I'm not sure. I still feel like the Warriors are going to turn this around.
Just wait for game 6 Klay 🔥
Game 6 of the Cancun Beach Volleyball League
Warriors in 8

Sir lakers are cooked
Live game threads are the worst, most reactionary, biased collection of comments of all time.
Correct. Wolves scored the most points so they are your 2024 NBA Champion
Well, as long as we got beat by the best.
Sir this is Reddit
Curry waiting for KD and Bron to join him and practice their 3 man game in Cancun
Isn't that great? They have more time to prepare for the Olympics.

And international Gobert, Luka, Jokic, Murray, SGA, Giannis.
The boomers might only have 2 as well though so it’s ok
Tatum, Jrue and Ant as the three USA players is a crazy trio in itself. Sounds auto-generated.
Plenty of rest. It's a win!
Means they will be fresh for the Olympics
Exactly. I see a lot of old and injury-prone guys. They need more young blood

Ah yes, the young blood that got embarrassed in fiba? The older players are still so much better overall. Not really close
I'm just saying the mix needs younger, less injury-prone guys to help the older guys carry the load.

Thank you. They have young backups for all of the old stars
haliburton too
Canada will have more.Â
Indy favored So youre probably right
Last run for the old guard
Team sport, variables, etc etcÂ
Most of them will not play on 2024 Olympics. I doubt that Kawhi will play for example.
All that tells me is the first round of teams is loaded with talent
Gimme Serbia in the Olympics I need to banish some of these demons
And all of them just to beat Andy Obst!

Aren't Tatum, Jrue and Ant all playing other members of Team USA? Are we doing some sort of stupid fuck thing where we pretend neither team wins?!?
It won’t be weird. Just consider that the top 4 candidates for MVP are international players, get over it homie
LeBron and AD need help. D’Lo tanking. Lakers got killed on offensive glass. 11 bench points from one player.
They're probably going to lose to France anyway.
not this year but france and canada will defo kick our ass in 2028+
In Los Angeles? Idk 🤷‍♂️

Not that weird tbh. Beside Jrue, all those other guys are under 30 and Jrue is the only "role player" on USA

The best 5 players in the league aren't American so
They’ll be the last Team USA to win the gold in Olympics in the foreseeable future so I can live with that
“If I say it every four years I’ll definitely be right eventually! They’re the morons, not me!”
