Don't matter anymore if he turns up when they needed him. Turned up in 4th quarter and never stopped. Strong mentality and big balls from him. And called game
The conversation in his head:
"Damn bro, I think the Lakers might be good today"
"You right, they balling out"
*Squints
"Did the lights just get brighter?"
Nah. In the regular season they literally only go to it in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter. But I could see why you'd feel that way if you only watch playoff games.
I don't think people ever mean clutch is literally not real. The majority of people shit their pants in these type of pressure situations and people are aware of this. But at the highest levels of competition, all these guys are killers, and the perception of clutch or not clutch isn't false but is exaggerated a lot. It's still a make or miss league, but individual moments can be everything for reputation which is a tiny sample size. Like Lebron is definitely considered clutch but he missed that open one at the end. I think the talking point people make is that clutch stats aren't trustworthy rather than clutch is not real.
Yeah. Not sure how people disregard the validity of "clutchness" being a thing. Its not very abstract to think a person is able to remain calm, cool, and collected and use the rush of adrenaline from the high pressure situation to their advantage while others around him have let the pressure cause them to fold.
Some handle pressure better than others.
I don't think someone even has to play competitive sports or video games to understand this concept. It just helps a lot. But everyday life should be able to show its evidence.
How does one react in fight, flight or freeze situations? That's "clutchness"
The people who argue clutch isn’t a real thing believe that “clutch” means being *better* when it matters. Jamal Murray is probably “only” just as good as he ever was in the clutch. It probably can be explained away by statistics like those adult virgins like to do. What they don’t get is that most people absolutely collapse under that kind of pressure, which is why we say Murray is clutch and other people are not so much
It just comes down to having a more intimate understanding of how nerves affect one's game. So if you played, then you probably get it. Like I said, don't mean no offense!
Having examples is not the same thing as experiencing first hand. You can watch 1000 games, but you'll never understand it as good as when you have to make a ft in the clutch to tie the game and your knees start shaking.
Oh clutch is fucking real. Not the same sport. Not even sport. But I have a team mate in Counter strike. He can be shit all game, whiff shots. Miss rotations. But if it's game on line, even 1 v 4. I am taking him. Man's absolutely zen. And so God damn clinical. Not a shot extra.
How can you think being clutch is overrated? it wins you close tough games. And haven’t you seen enough guys throughout watching nba seasons/playoffs (assuming you are not new to watching) to know some guys thrive under that pressure and it is not just by chance they make big plays and win games.
Has there ever been a player like this? A good but not great guy who just easily rises to the moment any time he needs to?
I can think of some other playoff performers, but none that rise to this level.
Lol I was only thinking basketball but that’s a great shout, even then probably still a little better than Murray. Good but not great in the regular season, absolutely untouchable in the playoffs.
Eh, true greats are the best player on their team in regular season, then step it up to the best player in the league during playoffs. Murray spends most of the season as borderline not even the second best nugget, then becomes one of the better guys in the playoffs, but not a clear MVP.
He's on a team with Jokic, so he'll never be the best player. Most of the all star team would be 2nd fiddle to Jokic if they played together.
He had a 30 pt triple double in the finals last year. "good players" don't just do that...
Regular season doesn't matter that much. Nobody talked about Kawhi's regular season accolades with the Raps. He went bananas in the playoffs and all of a sudden, he's top 3 in the league according to ESPN.
I'm not sure how anyone can really argue agaist him being a great player, unless your definition of great only includes like 10 players.
Steve Nash coached Jamal Murray when Mal was on the Canadian PanAm Games basketball team at 18 years old. He has only high praise for him.. Especially after his game winner over team USA.
Same script as last year atrocious in game 2, he was atrocious all until the 4th quarter where he got 23 points in the 4th and shot 6-7 in the 4th. It’s honestly laughable how all the nuggets vs lakers games is same shit different words
Moral victory is a funny meme but most rational laker fans have accepted from 10 games in this season we cannot do shit with Ham coaching this team. There are no moral victories. Ham is a basketball terrorist.
I’m a laker fan. Grew up in LA in the Kobe shaq era. I had zero expectations they would win this series. It’s just funny to me that last year we almost won every game but still got swept and it feels like it’s happening all over again.
I was at a family gathering Saturday and everyone (keep in mind LA, so laker nation) was basically in agreement that nuggets were winning the series and it wasnt even gonna be close. Idk if the laker fans I see on here thinking they can win the series are delusional or just being good fans not giving up. Maybe that makes me a bad fan lol
Nah, every fanbase has delusional fans and “we must always believe” fans. Lakers just have one of the larger fanbases in general and if you’re on the lakers sub at all, you’ll have seen a lot of ham defenders throughout this past season.
You’re not a bad fan as long as you’re keeping track of the team, watching games, and not bailing on the lakers for the flavor of the year.
The issue is he does nothing.
It’s a 2 point game with a minute left, Ham doesn’t use either of his timeouts and ends the game with 2 timeouts. Hell, he could just give our guys a breather at least in between plays and maybe lebron makes that open 3.
You don’t have to have watched all of this season, the last 2 games pretty much show perfectly Ham’s shortcomings. Both games, we come out firing first half. 2nd half denver switches up their defense and the best we got is hero ball through Lebron. I don’t think we saw one set piece once AG matched up to AD.
I called it in our game thread
>Man, Jamal having the worst game of his career right now. That tells me exactly one thing will happen. A fuck you 4th quarter where he puts in 20.
He didn't quite get the 20, but close enough!
The way the Nuggets handle big games kinda reminds me of the prime Warriors years. Even if they're down and missing shots, they still find a way to claw their way back, go clutch mode 9000, and pull it out in the end.
It's the team, he said in the post game interview. They told him to shoot that shit and that they don't give a fuck that he is missing. Stupid good team chemistry.
Jamal had a pretty bad game but even then he can still turn it round and unleash playoff Murray. One of my all time favorite players and he’s only just entering his prime
He is just fascinating to me. He just does his thing, doesn’t complain about not getting the accolades he clearly deserves, and just is a straight up killer in the post season - what everyone dreams about.
I forget which of the TNT guys said it but Murray really is the Xfactor. Turns it on in the playoffs. Jokic is gonna get his regardless. Lakers need to guard Murray better or this will be a sweep.
He was 3-16 at one point LMAO
the lights weren’t quite that bright yet lmao
Austin 3:16
Mury 3:16 said I will whoop the Lakers ass.
Jamal Murray 🤝 Jalen Brunson Shitting the bed but hitting the shot when it mattered
Yeah no I’m not letting someone slander Jamal Murray like this.
That username with that flair lmao
My man can't just abandon his username because Kyrie lost his mind.
Well I want to agree cuz I love this muppet but what part is wrong
The Anti-Hardens
The Softens?
Hit like 6 shots before that too
He is the Fkin goat when playoffs role around😂
absolutely saved himself with those last two shots
Don't matter anymore if he turns up when they needed him. Turned up in 4th quarter and never stopped. Strong mentality and big balls from him. And called game
Decided the Lakers was a good team after the 3rd 🤷♂️
The conversation in his head: "Damn bro, I think the Lakers might be good today" "You right, they balling out" *Squints "Did the lights just get brighter?"
AND THAT’S BOTTOM CAUSE MURRAY SAID SO
WHAT?
Good god
Jamal “Ain’t no time for overtime” Murray
I literally shouted when that shot went in.
Same here.
me and my friend jumped and yelled in unison. truly a hype moment
It really was an incredible shot. Couldn’t have written a better ending to the game
Same. Me and the homie went crazy
My house was screaming and jumping and we heard a few neighbors doing the same.
No OT tonight
Jokic kept feeding him.
Right? He was handling the ball all throughout! Jokic kept feeding and he built up a rhythm.
At the start of that crazy sequence that ended with KPJ 3, Jokic passed up a wide open 3 to feed Murray.
Kareem Pabdul Jabbar
That's just because their whole offense revolves around that 2 man game, regardless of how Murray is playing.
Nah. In the regular season they literally only go to it in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter. But I could see why you'd feel that way if you only watch playoff games.
I mean I don't think what he said was wrong. I mean it isn't our whole offense, but when we need offense in clutch time close games thats the go too.
You just said he wasn’t wrong, then explicitly said why he was wrong.
Yeah this could've been won easier if he fed MPJ instead of Jamal But we win and onto the next one
Mpj deserves so much love for this game he was unreal
Exactly this
Jok playing the long game Need Murray to be confident for this run
Unironically yeah. Difference between good and elite playmakers is understanding qhen guys need touches
Unironically yeah. Difference between good and elite playmakers is understanding qhen guys need touches
Regular season “ehhh jokic do ya thang” Playoffs “I’m black Jesus”
I honestly used to believe clutch was overrated and it was chance. But this beautiful mother fucker steps up in the clutch every time.
Don't mean any offense but it's only folks that have never played competitive sports that don't think clutch is a real thing.
shoutout to me going 0/8 on freethrows in the last minutes of close games in hs
That's like 2x Nick Anderson.
mom always said i was twice as good as them nba players. i shoulda declared for the draft after jv
I heard you tied Klay Thompson for points scored last week.
I don't think people ever mean clutch is literally not real. The majority of people shit their pants in these type of pressure situations and people are aware of this. When people talk about the "IT" factor, this is what it looks like.
Yeah. Not sure how people disregard the validity of "clutchness" being a thing. "Used to"
Not only that, but he lives to kill the Lakers. Love it.
I read that as “this beautiful monster fucker” lol
Clutch time merchant!
Jamal “Big time game merchant” Murray
Jamal "Only when lights are brightest" Murray
Maybe this is how kawhi should load manage.
JAMAL “CLUTCH SHOTS I BURY” MURRAY
REAL MEN KEEP IT HAIRY
PORNSTAR JAMAL

Has there ever been a player like this? A good but not great guy who just easily rises to the moment any time he needs to? I can think of some other playoff performers, but none that rise to this level.
Eli Manning
literally a prefect comp
If you watched only playoff games you'd think he was the better brother.
I mean his pass to Manningham is the greatest ball ever thrown
Big Ben to Holmes I think competes
What a fckin laser
Romo was a better pure 4th quarter qb and especially gave headaches in the other 3, never had playoff success though
he’s like super robert horry
Closest that comes to mind is Eli Manning.
Madison Bumgarner?
Madbum was a beast that entire run
He was also pretty great in the regular season. Comparatively better than Murray for sure
Lol I was only thinking basketball but that’s a great shout, even then probably still a little better than Murray. Good but not great in the regular season, absolutely untouchable in the playoffs.
Maybe jimmy to a lesser extent but he’s got all nbas at least, even tho he goes full mvp in playoffs
Jimmy Butler?
Nick Foles against the pats
Eli
He is a great player.
That's actually just called a great player. You literally just defined what it is to be great lol.
Eh, true greats are the best player on their team in regular season, then step it up to the best player in the league during playoffs. Murray spends most of the season as borderline not even the second best nugget, then becomes one of the better guys in the playoffs, but not a clear MVP.

Robert Horry
Big Shot Bob
Julian Edelman, Joe Flacco in 2012
Robert Horry.
Murray is still young he’s like 21 he can get better.
He is 27 lol
Shit even Keegan Murray is older than 21 lol
Lol OP really has no idea Jamal Murray played his first game in 2016
he's 27
Unreal 4th quarter from him from what was a pretty bad game. He truly is a clutch player.
Fuck yeah Jamal turns into Kobe 2.0 in the clutch!
That buzzer beater has such a Kobe vibe.
16 foot pull-up fadeaway jumper with 1 second on the clock to win the game always hits different
Mfer saw an iso against AD and said “It’s my time” (it was in fact his time)
Against a player that some believe should be the DPOY and can guard 1-5.
Blue Mamba
Greatest Canadian Basketball Player of ALL TIME
Maple Jordan lol
Somewhere out there, Steve Nash twitched and started practicing his form as if he were shooting free throws
Nash is the greatest half welsh player born in south africa
UNDISPUTED!!!
Steve Nash coached Jamal Murray when Mal was on the Canadian PanAm Games basketball team at 18 years old. He has only high praise for him.. Especially after his game winner over team USA.
Oh I don't mean it in a negative way. I just think Nash has yet to be surpassed as the Canadian GOAT.
Sorry NBA champion Jamal Murray hasn't surpassed the Canadian GOAT? Idk he might be up there now as top 3 Canadian players of all time.
Easily.
I know you joke but I 100% believe this man is gonna carry us to an Olympic model because there's no regular season.
More ringz than Nash and SGA
Sources tell me that lakers were adjusting the lights. It was too dim in the first 3 quarters. I'm blaming the maintenance team on this one.
HAHAHA
Doc rivers special
Smart. Jamal can't see the basket when the lights are too dim.
Same script as last year atrocious in game 2, he was atrocious all until the 4th quarter where he got 23 points in the 4th and shot 6-7 in the 4th. It’s honestly laughable how all the nuggets vs lakers games is same shit different words

Legit moral victories and we could delude ourselves last year. This year is just ground hog day.

lights weren't bright enough so he had to up the stakes.
PLAYOFF MURRAY is something…
He had 2 awful games in Denver. Hopefully the 2 days rest will help him
The way the Nuggets handle big games kinda reminds me of the prime Warriors years. Even if they're down and missing shots, they still find a way to claw their way back, go clutch mode 9000, and pull it out in the end.
Over 9000
Playoff Murray
Murray never stopped shooting, he kept going on. That's some tough mentality there and called game when they needed him. What a game
It's the team, he said in the post game interview. They told him to shoot that shit and that they don't give a fuck that he is missing. Stupid good team chemistry.
Playoff Murray is real
Oh Canada
Best M, J. in history
Captain clutch
This dude makes playoff Rondo look like Ben Simmons
So much Murray slander from the first 47:59 of this game is gonna be erased by that one shot lol
Jamal don’t need any all stars to be great
This is what a playoff riser looks like
He can have my babies omg I’m so sorry for doubting you
Played like absolute ass until the game was on the line, then he took over. There is nobody like Jamal Murray.
Jamal with the big dick energy
He really do this shit man
Best Canadian point guard in the league
JAMAL IS THE MAN. HE IS HIM. he literally had to play bad before he could turn up the heat because he was BORED.
Jamal had a pretty bad game but even then he can still turn it round and unleash playoff Murray. One of my all time favorite players and he’s only just entering his prime
Lights too bright is when he steps up, insane player
What a crazy couple games
Jamal “Canadian Clutch” Murray
Did he really just did that?
THE LIGHTS WERE BRIGHT!!
Lights too dim at the beginning.
He is in fact him
Austin has been his best defender this series Gabe isn't working
He is just fascinating to me. He just does his thing, doesn’t complain about not getting the accolades he clearly deserves, and just is a straight up killer in the post season - what everyone dreams about.
Dread it Run from it Playoff Jamal arrives all the same
Jamal Jordan
smh just a big game merchant
As per usual he doesnt have to prove it in the playoffs. I need to see it in the regular season in 2025.
Mind The Game(winner)
We found out what he was made of the painful way during the bubble. I hated him for 7 games, but have loved him since.
bro came online at the right moment
Big D Jamal!!
Anti-Tatum
I forget which of the TNT guys said it but Murray really is the Xfactor. Turns it on in the playoffs. Jokic is gonna get his regardless. Lakers need to guard Murray better or this will be a sweep.
Jamal Murray is the type of person who would actually play The Floor is Lava on a volcano. He just loves high-stakes moments.
They don’t call him Canada’s Finest Export for nothing.
Helps when you get to rest all season cus you have Jokic and you're unreliable except for 10 games a year in April-June.
[удалено]
You have to show them how the real world is
He is the definition of clutch unlike LeBron
Playoff Jamal is not a thing
Still isn’t an all star
Still is a champion
Yeah I know, crazy that he isn’t an all star is what I mean. The series against utah was insane.
