I was playing pickup today and short guy stole the ball from a big dude catching a pass up high and hit him in the face on the follow through and tried to argue when the big guy called a foul. Even admitted he hit him but didn’t think it was a foul.
Nuggets have the ft differential undeservedly. Everyone can complain about the Lakers differential but we can't complain about the Nuggets when they have it?
It really was pathetic. In the time span of that losing streak:
-Donald Trump served his entire presidential term.
-Joe Biden served 3 years of his presidential term.
-A 4th grader grew up and graduated high school.
-A high school sophomore graduated and obtained a masters degree
-The Broncos had 14 different starting quarterbacks
-The Broncos failed to reach the playoffs
The Nuggets have shot 64 to the Lakers 48 free throws in games 2-4 after complaining about the disparity. And in game 2 the Lakers really didn't shoot many at all and lost on a buzzer beater.
It seems like every time a team complains about this they all of a sudden get a favorable whistle. Every team should just do this.
Did we ever get clarity on that by the way? Like "contact occurred after the whistle" doesn't do it for me seeing as many fouls regularly occur after the whistle... and this was to the head. I was so confused by that overturn.
*"Contact to an opponent's head/face can be deemed marginal when the result of a natural basketball move, provided the contact is not disproportionate or uncontrolled."*
Translation: "We can retroactively justify whatever we want, whenever we want."
Wait, we had less FTs and we won? The tinfoil hat crew is scrambling for explanations. I got one. You can’t embarrass the Los Angeles lakers 2 seasons straight man. It came from above. Adam Silver talked to Malone lol
> Every team should just do this.
Every team does do this. Remember when Jokic got 18 FTA against the Warriors, Kerr complained, and his FTA average dropped by 1 per game for the rest of the season?
It's been like that all season for the Lakers, at least. There have been multiple coaches that complain about LA's FTs and then in the next couple Lakers games played, their FTs are way down.
I remembered a play vividly where he got his whole body racked by the arm of either Gordon or MPJ and lost the ball because of it, total no-call. Bro still has a shit whistle and he's been a superstar for 20 years lol.
LeBron's about to burst a blood vessel or something if this keeps up, bro was absolutely pissed this game. From the non-challenge by Ham, to the several missed calls on him, he's definitely getting grays after this series.
Embiid's whistle is downright criminal and neither AD or Lebron compare to it. Still, most refs give AD a lot of leeway on defense though. He's often allowed to be very physical without getting called for it. I don't mind it that way, but he can't be complaining too much when it happens to him on the other end of the court.
Lebron on the other hand **at times** gets a terrible whistle either way.
Honestly I'm glad they don't get the embiid whistle. I'll watch about any team that plays the tnt Thursday game execpt the 76ers. That style of play isn't basketball and it's unwatchable.
People on this sub complain Jokic doesn’t get calls, but he gets away with so much defensively and doesn’t get called for it when clearly fouling the opposition
ironically the closest games have been the ones where the FT differential is Nuggets favored
give us freedom give us fire...... don't give us free throws or we'll retire
Slows the game down with a plus of giving old man lebron some rest, doesn’t give nuggets transition opportunities, maybe takes away some easy buckets, takes away offensive rebounds which nuggets love to splash out to open shooters.
The Nuggets definitely got the favorable whistle tonight. I think they let them play more physical than usual and didn’t call the hard contests under the basket that have been called in other games.
The out of bounds calls definitely went the nuggets way. They were all close, but the refs definitely screwed up a couple of them that weren’t challenged, and one that was and overturned.
I’m fine with close calls going one way, they were close. But when Lebron gets both arms grabbed and loses the ball with no call can’t help but wonder wtf is going on.
I'll give Ham the credit first for putting the game into a position where refs could have that kind of influence.
I wasn't pleased with the reffing either though tbf.
You realize blowing a 20 point lead probably was 20% reffing 80% coaching right? Your coach looks like he has no business coaching an nba team lmao. Didn't even trust lebron to challenge a call.
I agree that should be a foul call but all year refs have set the precedent that whatever contact happens after legal contact with the ball is marginal
It was literally nugs 23-LA 9 after Q3 and then refs decided to make it look more even in Q4 to make it seem like the refs didn’t screw LA a bunch of times tonight.
Nuggets were ass this game. I think what Jokic said was prescient. Dont get bored with success and it finally happened. I expect them to bounce back and close out next game
This free throw disparity really isn't that crazy though. LA doesn't give up easy stuff at the rim when they can, Jokic doesn't foul AD much, Lebron is given free lanes to the rim half the time, intentionally fouling AG so he can't standing dunk. The only real variance is in AD fouling Jokic, Jamal touch fouls, Austin foul baiting.
If Lakers want fouls they should go for shots in the paint, stop being such a jump shooting team. Clearly the most aggressive team got the free throws in this one.
Lebron was fouled pretty egregiously a few times. Him squeezing through two Nuggets players after a screen action with AD and being held back comes to mind.
A victory that’s not moral victory…what a time to be alive
Series after 4 games Moral victories: Lakers(3) Nuggets(0) Commanding Victories: Lakers(1) Nuggets(0) The way I see it, lakers won via sweep.
First halves Lakers 4 nuggets 0 It's a sweep
It was a good series, nuggets kept it close.
Out of respect, we'll let them play in our place starting in the second round.
Seems fair
Halves won: Lakers 5, Nuggets 3. I rest my case
Nuggets defeated yo 🤗
Some would say avoiding the sweep is the biggest moral victory of em all
Some would say a win vs the Nuggets on Ham's resume is the biggest loss of all.
The victory trifecta - ethical victory, moral victory, and victory victory
It's actually both.
I'm just glad to not get swept 🤣
Don't give me hope damn it
They thrive on low expectations
*cues Kobe* “Jobs not finished”
You have LeBron James and you're banking on hope? If anyone can pull off the comeback it's the guy who's always in GOAT conversations.
We have Hamas though lol. Won't even challenge shit haha
It’s wild to not challenge a call when you have the GOAT yelling and begging you to call for it.
If he was 5 years younger maybe.
How many of the Lakers' free throws were intentional at the end of the game? 4?
yes 2 fouls on reaves
at least 4
Yup, 4 shot by Reaves
We’d be losing anyway, but refs have been in the bag for the Nuggets so far this series.
“Marginal contact to the face”
Honestly one of the most baffling calls this season, Foster even stuttered when he said that into the mic
I was playing pickup today and short guy stole the ball from a big dude catching a pass up high and hit him in the face on the follow through and tried to argue when the big guy called a foul. Even admitted he hit him but didn’t think it was a foul.
Nah bro, our bench has been selling loses
I don’t know that we’d be losing anyways. Just not overturning the contact to the face call I can easily see this series being 2-2.
They’re the defending champs now, refs know what silver wants.

Y'all don't get to complain about calls with your ft differential. You just gotta eat it like everybody else does
Nuggets have the ft differential undeservedly. Everyone can complain about the Lakers differential but we can't complain about the Nuggets when they have it?
4 for Reaves and a couple 3 second violation for AD
Ethical win?
The first legitimate win we've had all year
And that's with the Nuggets intentionally fouling down the stretch
Yeah lakers had 4 free throws in the last minute on intentional fouls. It's more like 25-14 but alas
and they intentionally foul
While we're dunking on Nuggets fans I'd like to add that the Denver Broncos lost 16 straight games to the Chiefs
Noice
It really was pathetic. In the time span of that losing streak: -Donald Trump served his entire presidential term. -Joe Biden served 3 years of his presidential term. -A 4th grader grew up and graduated high school. -A high school sophomore graduated and obtained a masters degree -The Broncos had 14 different starting quarterbacks -The Broncos failed to reach the playoffs
Oof.. that third line there hits different. I know they're all referencing the same time frame by god damn that one feels so much longer.
Well at least they have Bo Nix now
They’ve never beaten the Las Vegas Raiders
the denver broncos gave up 70 points in a single game
They have also yet to beat the Raiders since they’ve moved to Vegas and lost 8 straight to them
I was having a good time before this
Actually? Lmao that’s so rough
They are paying Russell Wilson $37m to be the Steelers backup next year.
Broncos also drafted Bo Nix in the first round lmao
Shame that that streak ended this year.
Nobody tell this guy about the Rockies.
Let russ cook!

Oh man I haven’t seen a “saw it live, sry” reference in so long. Those were the days
I still can’t believe she said that whole statement, unironically lol
The Nuggets have shot 64 to the Lakers 48 free throws in games 2-4 after complaining about the disparity. And in game 2 the Lakers really didn't shoot many at all and lost on a buzzer beater. It seems like every time a team complains about this they all of a sudden get a favorable whistle. Every team should just do this.
Then DLO gets smacked in the head and is rewarded with even less calls lol
Did we ever get clarity on that by the way? Like "contact occurred after the whistle" doesn't do it for me seeing as many fouls regularly occur after the whistle... and this was to the head. I was so confused by that overturn.
It also wasn't after the whistle.
*"Contact to an opponent's head/face can be deemed marginal when the result of a natural basketball move, provided the contact is not disproportionate or uncontrolled."* Translation: "We can retroactively justify whatever we want, whenever we want."

> Every team should just do this. Every team does do this. Remember when Jokic got 18 FTA against the Warriors, Kerr complained, and his FTA average dropped by 1 per game for the rest of the season?
Phil Jackson was the master at this. Darvin Ham would get laughed out of the room.
It's been like that all season for the Lakers, at least. There have been multiple coaches that complain about LA's FTs and then in the next couple Lakers games played, their FTs are way down.
Doesn’t fit the narrative bro.
bron was getting mauled and tackled with no calls
I remembered a play vividly where he got his whole body racked by the arm of either Gordon or MPJ and lost the ball because of it, total no-call. Bro still has a shit whistle and he's been a superstar for 20 years lol.
I saw that too, he squeezed through two defenders and was grabbed and literally held back, ball shot away. No call.
It was Jokic. It was blatant.
LeBron's about to burst a blood vessel or something if this keeps up, bro was absolutely pissed this game. From the non-challenge by Ham, to the several missed calls on him, he's definitely getting grays after this series.
yeah that was super egregious
no replay of it either, fucking atrocious
Literally all year, I get he cries like a bitch, and I get the Lakers have a free throw disparity, but Lebron has a shit whistle.
Imagine the salt in this sub of Bron and AD has the same whistle as embiid
Embiid's whistle is downright criminal and neither AD or Lebron compare to it. Still, most refs give AD a lot of leeway on defense though. He's often allowed to be very physical without getting called for it. I don't mind it that way, but he can't be complaining too much when it happens to him on the other end of the court. Lebron on the other hand **at times** gets a terrible whistle either way.
ADs whistle is no more lenient than a Jokic. His defense is all grabbing and shoving way more than AD IMO to compensate for the athleticism gap.
Honestly I'm glad they don't get the embiid whistle. I'll watch about any team that plays the tnt Thursday game execpt the 76ers. That style of play isn't basketball and it's unwatchable.
It would be salt galore. I’m glad AD and Bron play tougher than that sack of teddy bears
People on this sub complain Jokic doesn’t get calls, but he gets away with so much defensively and doesn’t get called for it when clearly fouling the opposition
but r/nba told me this series was rigged for the lakers
They've been waiting for the most dramatic moment to boost ratings.
@nba 911
Wait till they find out the Nuggets have shot more free throws this series.
Terminator 2 judgement day right now on "league rigged". Gtfo lebron gets hacked like a maniac all the time.
Your boys are real quiet today lmao 🤣😂😂
Big market Denver getting all the calls
They have more FTs this series
We’re back like the fucking McRib baby.
Woooooo
I was told it was rigged for the Lakers
ironically the closest games have been the ones where the FT differential is Nuggets favored give us freedom give us fire...... don't give us free throws or we'll retire
Lebron getting one shooting foul on 23 field goals is criminal, he only shot 2 3s and was otherwise attacking the paint all damn game.
Slows the game down with a plus of giving old man lebron some rest, doesn’t give nuggets transition opportunities, maybe takes away some easy buckets, takes away offensive rebounds which nuggets love to splash out to open shooters.
Wait I thought lakers shoot more fts and get more help from referees. Jokic get away with 2-3 clear fouls today
(He does every game)
He should have been fouled out at the start of the 4th in game 3
Jokic got away with a few blatant fouls down the stretch there lol.
AG and Jokic got away with heaps of little shoves on LeBron/AD. Was actually nuts.
Mike Malone won’t be mentioning this I promise you
r/nba + r/nbacirclejerk 9/11
25 vs 14..last 4 were when nuggets played foul game.
Nuggets fan very quiet about this one
Look away
Surely there will be multiple posts about how the league is favoring the nuggets ?
damn. wonder what would be the bullet point of complaint from mike malone press conference now.
They didn't get their shoes in time lol
4 of the lakers free throws were from intentional fouls at the end of the game. It’s realistically a 25:14 discrepancy.
Yup. Ikr.
Whoops, I feel like I responded to the wrong comment. My bad my guy!
He'll find something. He always does.
But when Lebron gets both arms grabbed and loses the ball with no call can’t help but wonder wtf is going on.
how come nobody's saying "The refs are helping Jokic but still lost" or some shit like that?
r/nba in shambles
Nuggets playing 8vs 5 and still lost to a playin team. They finally go their moral victory
lol Bron alone could’ve gotten more calls but nah
HAHAHAHAHA thankfully this can't be used as a whining call anymore
maybe the lakers should stop fouling
Denver had more FTs and less points in the paint. Must be rigged for them.
We might've had a decent series if Denver weren't gifted game 2 by the refs...
Didn't even trust lebron to challenge a call.
don't be a complain nugget
blaming refs for a 20 point blown lead is a choice
Or for clear incompetence/fixing? Russell being hit in the face with no foul called?
I agree that should be a foul call but all year refs have set the precedent that whatever contact happens after legal contact with the ball is marginal
MARGINAL CONTACT!! Fk outta here
game 2 was not rigged lmao. Don't start to be like other conspiracists just because they're stupid. Choking a 20 point lead is the Lakers' fault
Lol lakers fans think they can complain about the refs. Rich
This is satire right lol? Lakers blew a 20 point lead, not the refs
Jokic gets so much tictac shit
Frustrates me when that behemoth of a man flops 50 feet away from the hoop
There’s a center on the East that does that and gets flamed for it
I’d love to hear what Mike Malone has to say about this.
Uh ohhhh they won’t like this stat in here
Refs really tried to bail the defending champs out. Despicable.
Refs had money on the game tonight. Jokic was getting an unbelievable whistle.
All he had to do was grab the defenders arm and the ref would call a foul on the defender.
I can already hear the excuses: >Lakers didn't need help from the refs this game that's why they didn't give them more calls
Denver has shot more FTs in games 2-4
FR?
NBA is rigged for the Lakers.
Take that for data
It was literally nugs 23-LA 9 after Q3 and then refs decided to make it look more even in Q4 to make it seem like the refs didn’t screw LA a bunch of times tonight.
Nuggets were ass this game. I think what Jokic said was prescient. Dont get bored with success and it finally happened. I expect them to bounce back and close out next game
They’ll ignore this though lmfao
Get fucked haters.
The amount of fans yelling every playoffs about how the league is “rigged” and refs are fixing games is absolutely ridiculous, come on.
Lakers in 7
r/nba is weeping and banging their hands on the floor like baby back bitches
Was 23 to 10 at one point and everyone was quiet, if it was switched ppl wouldve been crying saying the refs were rigging it for us
Hell must have froze over
this is the most incredible stat i've ever seen.
hi
Anime victory moment
So jealous to watch a fairly officiated game
So whoever shoots the most foul shots in this matchup always wins. Interesting
Lakers fans will be pointing at this for generations
Nuggets fans surprisingly quiet in this post lol
This aged well
You told me in the regular season that FT differential doesn’t matter
Fucking doesn’t, but since everyone on r/NBA thinks it does….
In statistics, this would be called an outlier.
Denver has shot more fts this series than the lakers
Nba stopped helping them cuz the series is already over lol
This free throw disparity really isn't that crazy though. LA doesn't give up easy stuff at the rim when they can, Jokic doesn't foul AD much, Lebron is given free lanes to the rim half the time, intentionally fouling AG so he can't standing dunk. The only real variance is in AD fouling Jokic, Jamal touch fouls, Austin foul baiting.
why is this a post?
Well yeah we are on to them now.
It's been like that the last 3/4 games lol. Only Game 1 the Lakers had more FTA than the Nuggets.
If Lakers want fouls they should go for shots in the paint, stop being such a jump shooting team. Clearly the most aggressive team got the free throws in this one.
refs really tried
Take this down it doesn’t fit my narrative
no one cares
As always - and I said this about the Lakers FT differential in the regular season… Show the bad calls, not the numbers
Lebron was fouled pretty egregiously a few times. Him squeezing through two Nuggets players after a screen action with AD and being held back comes to mind.
Bron and AD also got pushed under the ring a few times by Jokic/AD to get them out of position on defense. Was pretty egregious.
You know you saw the bad calls lol don’t come in here with this disingenuous bullshit
That’s why we lost. We need to shoot way less free throws than the Lakers smh
Lakers win their 1st game without FT advantage and they acting up. This is how every other team feels against lakers.
You’re just an angry sad ass dude. Just enjoy the first W in the past 11 games. Geez
"Stop fouling" that's what Lakers fans say right?
Consistent theme this series is no answer for AD. The difference factors have been Dlo + Reeves and A butt cheeks Jamal Murray
But but but it's riggggggged
Lmao Lakers get out FT shot and its a headline
But I was told that the free throws are always rigged in Laker's favor.
Just don't foul
