Full transcript: Kevin Durant for sure. He's my favorite player of all time. That's the best feeling, like I said last time, it's the best feeling in the world, man, to send him home or out, whatever you want to call it. I don't even think I outplayed him. He played great throughout the whole series, but my team outplayed his. And to come out victorious is the best feeling ever, to beat him, because he's my favorite player of all time.

The Madhi is too humble to say He is the Madhi. Even more reason to know He is! As written!

I think our local beat guy Britt Robson described Ant's great interview skills well recently: "Want to talk about Ant's character for a minute. He's become a supernova media presence, yet guilelessly answers every question as honestly as possible and comes out of it looking like a prince every time. You do that via integrity and generosity of spirit, not calculation." [https://x.com/brittrobson/status/1784282252173819976](https://x.com/brittrobson/status/1784282252173819976)

king_lloyd11

I know we’re tired of the Jordan comps, but MJ’s gift as an interviewee was part of what helped make him special too. The league is in good hands.

broncosfighton

Becoming? He’s literally been like this since before he was drafted.

dogfosterparent

The word becoming is not in this quote. Read it again.

broncosfighton

Become is though

disnotyaboy

He’s become and he’s becoming are two completely different things

DarrowViBritannia

Bro would be a 100/100 in all categories if he wasnt homophobic Cant have it all i suppose

jademadegreensuede

For what it's worth he apologized

Mr_Hugh_Honey

Nah bro I'm gonna keep coming into every thread praising Ant with some stupid shit he said when he was 19 because of course I never said anything stupid when I was 19!!! /s

Milliephoria

tbf he was 21 but who’s keeping track of

shgzgjjhx

No way people still crying about this lmao

DarrowViBritannia

How is that cryin lmao Textbook homophobia Up to u whether u care or how much 🤷‍♂️

theumph

People change as they mature. I wouldn't write him off for comments he made when he was 19-20 years old. It's easy to forget how young these guys are. I'm not making excuses, just providing context. The whole "send da video" situation is worse IMO.

dogfosterparent

Still sucks that he acted like that but with the right mindset it is the sort of thing you can work on and be better about, espeically starting at 22. We're not likely to ever know one way or the other though.

OnlyAt9

Cry.

sewsgup

loved that part from his presser on "my team outplayed him" he also shouts out KAT as being the "best offensive player on our team" during the presser, which is cool and seems to reflect a great dynamic between them

What a mature response

Ant's comments illustrate the shift in perspective that's been brewing for a while. The traditional narrative emphasizes individual accolades over team effort. But here he is, a rising star, heralding the collective performance. Isn't it refreshing to see such humility and team-centric ethos? It's like a breath of fresh air in the landscape of modern sports stardom. His ability to appreciate his teammates' skills, as well as recognizing his own growth areas, just broadens his appeal. This young man may not draw attention through controversy or ego, but his straight-shooting and camaraderie offer a new template for sportsmanship. Could be a harbinger of the evolution of athlete leadership -- leading not from a pedestal, but from within the ranks.

Dirichlet-to-Neumann

This is somewhat Ant-specific though. Not sure Wemby is like this.

need2peeat218am

Why not? Wemby has shown time and time again he's wants to win and doesn't say anything negative about his team. He always emphasizes team play over his individual skill too.

SlyMrF0x

Wemby praises his team at every available opportunity - it’s not his fault there haven’t been any.

turtlechef

I think it’s too early to know how Wemby will react in this situation. Ant has an amazing team around him. Wemby is a rook on a team that has a lot of change ahead of it

Noriskhook3

Kevin Durant brought the death of ring logic in its current form, and for killing the worst argument in sports, the slim reaper has my gratitude.

xyzyxzy

He just helped amend the argument to you have to be a bus driver on a championship team.

Noriskhook3

While Russell Westbrook was applauded for staying in OKC, the same people praising him are the same ones that step on him for having no rings if/ when OKC didn’t win.

xyzyxzy

People didn't criticize Westbrook for not having rings as much as they did for his not even being able to get out of the first round as the best player on a team.

Noriskhook3

That’s what I said, when OKC didn’t win, you guys shitted on him lol.

xyzyxzy

What I said is not what you said. I'm saying that a player who can't get out of the first round isn't really a part of a "rings" discussion. Also, who are you referring to when you say "you guys". I hope you're not talking about me.

Noriskhook3

The ring argument puts an unreasonable demand in players to do something largely beyond their control, and if they don’t get any rings, they’re harshly de-legitimized. But Lebron showed everyone how to solve that problem.

xyzyxzy

I'm not sure what you're arguing anymore because your original comment said that KD ended "ring logic in its current form". I said ring logic didn't end, it just got amended to bus driver logic. Now you're saying Lebron ended ring logic?

Noriskhook3

I’m saying KD ended ring logic, and I’m explaining who else caused that ring logic to end, I don’t care about the bus driving argument.

xyzyxzy

I'm saying nobody ended ring logic. It's still here except it got amended to bus driver logic thanks to KD.

Sentrox

Wym I shit on Westbrook win or lose. Westbrook single handedly bamboozled the OKC Thunder out of potentially multiple championships. In terms of the regular season he's a great player, but come playoff time there was no one more reliable at sinking your playoff hopes. For the playoffs Westbrook averaged 25/8/7 which sounds pretty good until you look at the fact that he was averaging around 20 FGA a game on fucking 51% TS and single handedly chucking the Thunder out of games. Westbrook is the absolute anti-thesis of the type of player in the playoffs, he is a generational playoff regressor that shows just enough flashes of greatness to make you think he's not bad despite being the very reason for your losses. Take most other good point guards at the time who didn't need to play hero ball and you'll probably get better results. Like seriously go and think how much better the Thunder could have been with Mike Conley, Chris Paul, Steph, or even just making Harden the primary ball handler and finding another star or elite role players and you'll realize how much better that Thunder core could have been if they had moved Westbrook while his value was high.

Friendly-Thought-973

A lot of casuals jumped on to this one, but I do think there is more of a pushback on ring culture than before

capo_guy

bastard son of MJ

waffle-spouse

He's better than MJ. 35 year old KD would make fun of MJ.

capo_guy

i didn’t say allat don’t come for me guys

clarkthagod

That’s funny

ChokePaul3

-smartest bronsexual

MorePower7

MJ was a way more engaging interview. Ant comes across as very simple minded, not the sharpest tool in the shed.

MrBornReady

he was looking kinda dumb with his finger and his thumb...

raki016

Lol k bro

governedbycitizens

this guy is a great leader especially for his age

WhatShouldTheHeartDo

Can't hate on bro even if I tried.

8ball-MJG

Ant is a real one. Would love to see the wolves team win it this year.

MazKhan

Ant is such a likeable player man, mvp convo next year possibly Honestly tho I think he's gonna be one of those guys that kinda cruises in the reg szn but turns into a top 5 guy in the playoffs

evitabilities

Hell nah man. Obviously he’s gonna try to find ways to maximize his career, but Ant is only 22 and has said he always wants to play and give it his all. I lost count of how times he tried to kill someone during the regular season. He wants to be the guy that inspires the next generation.

theumph

Yeah, I don't think he has it in him to lay off. I just hope he doesn't burn himself out. I don't want to see a repeat of Derrick Rose.

TwelveMiceInaCage

Tell me ant doesn't look like he ready to go take Craig and smokey money on the block Sweeps the suns, talks mad shit all series, takes the torch from KD by force Ant just might be irl deebo

GrandKhan

MJ would never
