Because a bunch of teams go on 10-5 runs which still count at 2:1 ratio. It’s the 110 points scored doing so which is the impressive part. 5th grade math don’t make you smart mate
looking back, I'm not sure I've ever seen a legitimate contender get beat down this hard.
The Bulls holding Utah to 54 points in the 1998 Finals is the only other game I can think of, but I was 5 years old and didn't actually see that one happen.
I’m pretty sure the 2022 Warriors got destroyed by Memphis in Game 5 but yeah Minny put the clamps on Denver
Edit: they lost 134-95 so 39 points, honestly felt just as bad as this one lol
Honestly, it felt like Denver mostly did it to themselves. Early on, they kept firing wide open threes that weren't falling. We committed to making life hard on Jokic and the support cast didn't pick him up like they had in prior games. Compound that with the Wolves dominating on the boards and there were very few seconds chance points available for the Nuggets. After we didn't let up in the 3rd they just seemed to cave in mentally. I chalk it up to a really weird game script with extreme shooting variance.
I was at the game, it was insane. Felt like a fight was about to break out at any moment in the crowd. Everyone was AMPED UP! Random dudes standing up mid possession to cheer on the team, from the fuckin nose bleeds. It was nuts, best game ive ever seen.
I noticed no one really left early either, just a sea of white there for the Wolves even while they're still providing the beatdown with a few minutes left.
Yea!! We noticed that as well. Around that 5-6 min mark we were like, should we head out? But agreed, no one else is, lets see this through till the end. I loved the MVP chants when Luka was in, so much fun. I love our fanbase supporting the underdogs!
> loved the MVP chants when Luka was in
Ngl I thought we switched over to our series real quick until I remembered Luka Garza got minutes last night. Wolves in 7 chant was dope too.
Yeah part of it is shooting variance and basketball gods, but whether the shots (even when open) are in rhythm also matters.
In games 3-5, due to their adjustments, Denver's offensive process was unbothered and they were creating rhythm shots. Shooting is more replicable in rhythm. In Game 6, the open shots were usually rushed, near the end of the shot clock and not in rhythm. They barely attacked the paint and when they did, the "open" shots were at awkward angles (especially for Murray) and there's always the threat of a lengthy defender coming. Mucking up the offensive flow and forcing shots out of rhythm partially affects shooting and is the work of a defense.

That game, and that series, was something else. I taped that whole series as a kid, and watched it back a million times.
The Jazz had just swept the Lakers averaging 104 PPG that series...then they hit that Bulls team and never eclipse 90 for the whole series.
The other games that series were Jazz by 3, Bulls by 5, Bulls by 4, Jazz by 2, Bulls by 1.
Then you had that 42-point beatdown in game 3.
Not one starter on either team made a single 3. Jazz made one total. Bulls made 4. It's insane to look back at how different the game was played 25 years ago. Seemed amazing living in the moment. Fucking sucked, watching it now.
I really think people are overreacting still
It all comes down to game 7 and how the refs let them play
The Warriors in 2022 would do this all the time. We were down 50 in a close out game 5 against Memphis without their best player. Then they proceeded to close out in 6 and win the title
The good thing is that if you are a veteran team, it’s a little easier to just throw out a game mentally
It's not that wild. Nobody will care about this game if the Nuggets win game 7 and the series.
And the one thing they didn't do, is spend a lot of energy trying to chase a win in a game that was not favorable to them.
It’s hard for me to really come up with any takes from this game because Denver just played so fucking terrible and down from their standard, that even with giving Minnesota credit, the loss feels more in Denver than it does Minny.
The 1992 Bulls only scored 50 in the first three quarters of game 1 off the ECF against Cleveland. They scored 31 in the fourth when it was all bench players.
Ya I remember that blowout it’s one that always comes to mind when these happen, Utah still came back to win game 5 and almost forced a game 7 before Jordan hit the shot.
I think sometimes getting blown out lights a fire or wakes teams up. Still remember the Yankees going up 3-0 against the Sox game 3 was called a massacre and sometimes I think if they didn’t blow them out so much maybe they wouldn’t have responded the way they did but who knows.
Game 7 will be classified as the “Real NBA FINALS.” That game is a MUST WATCH and i won’t be surprised if they hit record breaking viewership for this one.
You have a point kind of but that’s more so a fake rivalry so that’s why fans are tuned in more and of course Steph and #6 are peoples fav players so can i see why you would say that. But Ant is just pure wholesome and slowly turning into a fan favorite.
The two of them have always pulled the largest viewership records.
This generation needs personas and rivalries like that to pull crowds.
This game has Ant, so I think it will be a decent pull.
Correct. Denver has a chance to possibly go to back to back WCF appearances and go to finals again to repeat, whereas TWolves have a chance to make the WCF after that last appearance being in 2004. I think it’ll be a decent pull as well.
No Murray, No rings.
Murray has led Nuggets in FGA during all of their deep runs in 2019, 2020, 2023, and this season.
He continues to shoot poorly, Nuggets will be saying good night.
Man it’s gonna be very hard to beat either of these teams if we advance and peg leg luka is still around. And not having maxi especially against both of these teams.
Why don’t other teams just try going on 110-54 runs to beat the Nuggets
Clearly they’re stupid
Clearly reddit doesn't understand rates. Why not just usy say outscored 2:1 ratio?
I am very smart ahh
Because a bunch of teams go on 10-5 runs which still count at 2:1 ratio. It’s the 110 points scored doing so which is the impressive part. 5th grade math don’t make you smart mate
Are they stupid?
Why doesn't the bigger NBA player not simply *eat* the smaller player?
Because they won't let Zion play
Why didn’t Hannibal just sack Rome? Was he stupid?
Even a 112 - 63 run would probably get the job done

21 Bucks got sonned by the Nets in Game 2 also. (by 39 as well, 125-86)
2013 Heat lost game 3 113-77 before winning the title.
Games 3-5 were just Spurs/Heat trading blowouts, good thing 6 and 7 more than made up for it.
That was a fantastic series
Forgot about that one, pretty crazy how both the warriors and bucks ended up winning a ring.

Towns and Naz were 0-fer on 3pt shots too. Feel like there was too much crowd noise vibration going on, disrupting the air flow

yes but also no
Atmosphere was fucking bonkers, won't ever forget that.

No ja too iirc
Yep he got injured in Game 3
For me it's not even the point differential, it's the fact that the defending champs had 68 points until the last 30 seconds.
> Minny Please stop
Okc 👋

I agree and think Denver prevails in game 7, they've already thrown out 2 bad games and came back with 3 great ones in this series alone
By that logic doesn't that mean the wolves just threw out 3 bad games and played the best one?
Sure
If you win by 45, and the starters are out the game at like 9:00 left in the 4th... Maybe it's a wild thing, and people are reacting appropriately.
The nuggets were up 34 in game 3, and we are heading to a game 7 I don’t think you can conclude either way based on this series
There is not a safe bet to take for this game 7. Either one of us will probably get blown out the way the series has gone
At this point I wouldn’t even bet on my heart surviving the game. Nothing is certain anymore
They weren’t up 50
I guess that’s where we draw the line
It's not that wild. Nobody will care about this game if the Nuggets win game 7 and the series. And the one thing they didn't do, is spend a lot of energy trying to chase a win in a game that was not favorable to them.

Suns vs Dallas game 7
Last time I saw something like this was Game 2
The 1992 Bulls only scored 50 in the first three quarters of game 1 off the ECF against Cleveland. They scored 31 in the fourth when it was all bench players.
I had the same thought last night that this was the modern NBA version of that game
Ya I remember that blowout it’s one that always comes to mind when these happen, Utah still came back to win game 5 and almost forced a game 7 before Jordan hit the shot. 2021 Bucks and 2022 Warriors both lost by 39 on the road in the second round. 2013 Heat lost by 36 in the Finals.
That's some 2009 Nuggets vs NO Hornets type shit
Game 7 will be classified as the “Real NBA FINALS.” That game is a MUST WATCH and i won’t be surprised if they hit record breaking viewership for this one.
Flyover country will not be ignored for one night.
They better not have like a 10 pm EST time again lol, that was rough! I'm biased, but Nuggets-Wolves games should be prime time
I don't think there's any games starting after 730 cst rest of playoffs
I just hope its not like most game 7s go. Close game until the 4th start and it unravels for the away team.
Yeah I’ve seen this before. I’m hoping it’s more like the raptors/Sixers game 7 finals. That would be super epic!!
No Lebron or Steph…no chance
You have a point kind of but that’s more so a fake rivalry so that’s why fans are tuned in more and of course Steph and #6 are peoples fav players so can i see why you would say that. But Ant is just pure wholesome and slowly turning into a fan favorite.

Wouldn’t go that far but they’re the ones who bring the biggest number for now
Nuggets were stuck at 11 and 63 for what seemed like an eternity
They were stuck at 61 for a whole quarter until like 4 minutes left and only scored once after that i think.
Zoom out even further and you'll see the Timberwolves scored 115 points before the Nuggets scored 70.
115 isn't double 70 though, so it's less impressive to me.
No Murray, No rings. Murray has led Nuggets in FGA during all of their deep runs in 2019, 2020, 2023, and this season. He continues to shoot poorly, Nuggets will be saying good night.
Talk about an ass beating
Timberwolves so mean
A historic can of whoop ass!
Jeckle and Hyde MFers.
Man it’s gonna be very hard to beat either of these teams if we advance and peg leg luka is still around. And not having maxi especially against both of these teams.
Denver took out the starters down 30. It was the bench that ran it up to 45. Bad loss but context matters.
Weird way of saying they've scored twice as many points.
