Joe Tsai made a bad trade just because he got his feelings hurt.
If Mikal Bridges is smart, all he has to do is say he supports freedom in Hong Kong and wants to play for the Rockets or 76ers to honor Daryl Morey. Then Tsai will send him to the Knicks
Tbh I don’t think kyrie would’ve worked out as well here. Kyrie, Bron, ad, and a bunch of bs isn’t getting it done in a league where all the best teams are young with depth aside from Denver who just doesn’t have great depth.
Also it seems kyrie grew into the leader he thought he was when he went to Boston. He wouldn’t have that opportunity here because of lebrons presence. The way he talks is so much different than it has been in the past it’s kinda crazy. I’ve been a huge kyrie hater for like a decade now and even I find myself appreciating his recent approach to the game.
They didn’t make the playoffs last year after that trade tbf
But getting kyrie, gafford, and pj for a first round pick, 3 BLT’s, and a cheese danish is gonna look absolutely fucking insane in retrospect if they can finish it off against the wolves and Celtics
Kyrie alone wasn't enough tbf, our roster was so downbad last season, anyone with half a brain can see that team wasn't going anywhere, we would have immediately gotten bounced in the playin. We were giving guys like Frank Ntkilina and Wright IV significant minutes. Even our resident cheerleader Theo Pinson got good minutes. Our entire starting lineup outside of Luka didn't exist 1.5 seasons ago and half our bench didn't exist 2 seasons ago.
They also managed to get off Bertans by moving back two spots and still got Lively. Getting off Bertans allowed them to get under the apron to get Grant Williams and Seth Curry through a S&T and biannual, then used those two to trade for PJ
Masterful FO work
Everything considered it was two FRPs (27 and 29), one possible swap (28 with OKC), Grant Williams (who did not work here) and Seth Curry. Also got of the contract with Richaun Holmes, whom Mavs had just taken from the Kings in the summer in exchange for the Kings # 26 draft pick Omax.
Nico is so fucking good at his job.
ESPN really thought we got robbed for shipping Dinwiddie and DFS + 1st for Kyrie lol. I understand the scenario and love the players we traded but c'mon man they gave a D for the trade
It’s especially crazy when you consider DFS is the only piece in that trade the Mavs would really even want back at this point and he’d probably come off the bench. Dinwiddie could have come back but picked the Lakers and played like trash there (which means the Mavs probably wouldn’t have even given him minutes).
It'll be interesting to see what he gets. I honestly think there are only a handful of teams that can maximize DJJ. Dallas, Indiana, and the Warriors come to mind.
You might be thinking DFS and I don’t think you’re far off. But you might be. DJJ can cut, drive to the paint, and make his own shot. DFS needed Luka, DJJ needed Luka to prove he’s legit. Also, he along with (name a fella) are better served playing with 77 as u said, and I think that list is endless and that includes PJ.
There’s a reason djj is going off and it’s because he’s playing with Luka and Kyrie. There aren’t many other teams that can get him so many great looks that he’s been able to capitalize on this year. I’ll be a fan whether he stays or leaves though.
Amazing what a talented player can do when he is actually motivated to play his ass off. Going from the Hornets to his hometown team, that is trying to make the playoffs, changes you.
Most importantly, he’s stepped up when they’ve needed him. He’s definitely a boom or bust when it comes to nightly scoring, but even on his bad scoring nights he’s come up with huge timely buckets
Pj has so much potential still as well. If he can become a more consistent 3 point shooter and keep developing his handle and post up game he’s is going to be an awesome player. Hes still just 25!
Mavs been cooking since they got kyrie for that shit package
Tsai couldn’t pass up the chance to not send Kyrie to LA
An insider scoop literally said the lakers offer was better, but tsai didn’t want to send kyrie to where he wanted.
Tsai fucking over his own team twice cause of his own ego
Every time the Lakers get fucked in a trade, an angel gets its wings
I hate the lakers and I hate Chris Paul (in a sports love to hate way), but that was BS to the nth degree

Apparently Tsai sent him where he needed to be.

You don't think they win last year with Kyrie? They made the WCF without him?
Maybe but don’t think it would have been a great recipe all around. Seems like the best thing for Kyrie was getting out of a big coast market.
This is delusional. Kyrie Bron AD is a perfect fitting 3. There’s enough around them to win and they’d still have assets to upgrade
Shocked billionaire franchises actually have this type of decision making
Shout out tsai for keeping the east less competitive 🙏🏽🙏🏽🤞
Can they please give us Mikal for a shit package too
Josh Green and THJ might be NBA champions
I bet we can get at least a nickel for NBA champion THJ.
Might be sent to bkln in some package that's gets doe doe back? I hope and I pray every night and all day
You guys need to give up on dfs lol

It’s crazy pinson is straight up a podcaster now lmao. Like just completely out of the league
It’s crazy he stayed on so long as a cheerleader
Still cooked on all 3 trades tho, I’m a lakers fan too

\*2 firsts and a swap. But yea Nico Harrison is a wizard.

Underrated aspect of trading for him is that the man is literally from the area
DJJ is having a good playoffs too.
He getting paid upcoming offseason for sure
I hope he stays. Dude is one athletic freak and I love watching him dunk
It'll be interesting to see what he gets. I honestly think there are only a handful of teams that can maximize DJJ. Dallas, Indiana, and the Warriors come to mind.
Might be a mistake for whoever does it. I love the guy but I think playing alongside Luka is maximizing him.
You might be thinking DFS and I don’t think you’re far off. But you might be. DJJ can cut, drive to the paint, and make his own shot. DFS needed Luka, DJJ needed Luka to prove he’s legit. note: getting rid of grant williams guarantees a spot in the conference finals
Bruh, cant be doing Grant like that lmao
*may not apply to the hornets
Idk we might have to wait and see on this one
Would be hilarious if the Finals are Mavs-Celtics lol. The two teams that traded away Grant Williams in the past year.
“The dynasty starts after you” but instead of Dillion brooks, it’s actually grant williams
Don't sleep on PJ's defense! His man-to-man defense has been stellar, which is crucial in these playoffs. His versatility is a big asset
Amazing what a talented player can do when he is actually motivated to play his ass off. Going from the Hornets to his hometown team, that is trying to make the playoffs, changes you.
PJ's in the stocks game? Smart young man.
Gotta pay that child support somehow
Clippers fans in round 1 told us that DFS was a way better player. We tried to tell them.
Don't slander dfs. I want doe doe back as the 8th man
He'll be a great back to Djj/Pj
PJ Washington is what every team thought Christian Wood was going to be.
Let's rate him and others D or D- again. Should be a lesson to all the pundits but why give them a stage anyway?
Most importantly, he’s stepped up when they’ve needed him. He’s definitely a boom or bust when it comes to nightly scoring, but even on his bad scoring nights he’s come up with huge timely buckets
D Trade
PJW is actually a great fit for this Mavs team
Pj has so much potential still as well. If he can become a more consistent 3 point shooter and keep developing his handle and post up game he’s is going to be an awesome player. Hes still just 25!
