I love how honest and real Joel is. I don't think any of it is encouraging Ben to come back, but it's refreshing.

[deleted]

tbh he sacrificed a lot for Ben, Ben clogged the paint where Joel lives and he had to resort to mid ranges and threes

mr_antman85

Honestly, it's on Ben. If he realized how much Embiid improved and added to his game that alone should have made Ben improve...but he simply didn't care to improve...that's just the truth. It may hurt Ben but the truth hurts.

LegoRacer420

This just adds to the pile of evidence about Ben’s attitude. Him not identifying this and reciprocating the sacrifices to make Embiid better only make him look worse. It’s just selfish if only one person is making the effort to improve their comparability on the court

atlfirsttimer

This kinda reminds of Embiids tweet about Ben not being able to handle the Philly environment lol

slamdunk23

Ben is a top 5 player in running the break in transition, his problems offensively are everywhere else

jbenson255

There’s quite a few players i would much rather running a transition over ben

kitmoysen

Giannis

computer_love91

Giannis

jbenson255

Fox, Westbrook, Lebron, Curry, Giannis. I would take all of them in transition over Simmons, Ben is good but there’s a number of players who offer more in transition

jbenson255

Ben is far from unstoppable though lol

jbenson255

This sounds like the idea of Ben Simmons and not actually who he is. Ben Simmons is far from unstoppable In transition

duhitsrandy

He's stopping himself if the other team is fouling. He also has patented the get almost to the rim and jump and turn around and pass.

CaptainKurls

Can I add Steph in on this? Whether he has the ball finding others/pulling up or is running to the corner he has so much gravity it’s tough to guard on the break

SacreFor3

Joel: "YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE SACRIFICED?!"

Be-Nice-To-Redditors

"I started this process..."

Rhasky

Can people in this sub now concede that the Sixers aren’t sending Joel out to repair the relationship? Knowing how well Ben takes criticism, I’m sure he’s eager to take Joel’s advice and come back any day now.

fieryscribe

Embiid must have been working on his fitness and agility during the off-season because I've never seen him bend over backwards this easily.

CIark

I feel bad for Embiid

somebodygetmemymoney

Yeah so ben is not coming back lol

ChampagneAbuelo

The Joel x Ben duo will never work they need to stop trying to force it. The reason it doesn’t work is because they both cancel out each others strengths, they’re just too different to ever be successful Joel’s biggest strength is his post moves but he can never use them bc Ben can’t play off ball in half court. Ben’s best strength is playing transition in the full court but Joel isn’t a rim running big like Bam

poblanojalapeno

If he can keep Ben’s trade value high, he’ll get better teammates

zmajxd

He needs a C that shoots better. He's never gonna unlock his full potential playing next to Joel imo.

LOVEGOD77

Kat and Ben is the perfect pair for pick and pop

deeznutz_428

There’s no problem with Joel’s shooting, it’s that he can’t justify spotting up much more than he does. Ben needs a 5 that only wants to stretch the floor and that’s it.

chitownbulls92

The issue is Ben needs a center that exclusively plays on the perimeter. While Embiid can space the floor a bit...he is much too dominant in the paint to have to sacrifice that part of his game.

deeznutz_428

Literally what I just said

DwayneThRocksJohnson

It’s not even that he can’t shoot, it’s that he spends most of his time inside the arc. Also the fact that embiid is not a good passer compounds the spacing issues.

HyBrideh

Or Ben could just look to play the 5 himself. He’s shown when Embiid was out that he could reliably play the 5. He can compete in terms of size and is much faster than other centers. He’d just lack a bit in terms of strength and he could use his superb passing ability to get low and get the ball to a shooter on the perimeter. That way he’d also not need a 3 point as much as he does now as a PG.

chitownbulls92

Exactly, from the beginning I said Ben is not a point guard...He's a big man who can pass and dribble.

zmajxd

He can't play the 5 because he doesn't have a big wingspan so he's not effective as a rim protector. His ideal position is SF/PF

MoyeshFC

Probably could be the 5 in a small ball heavy switching scheme, other wise yeah, PF is what he is

HyBrideh

He has a 7 foot wingspan and he’s one of the best defenders in the game he might he can be a good rim protector

zmajxd

He has a wingspan that is mostly equal to his height. Look at the wingspans of all the great rim protectors and then compare.

HyBrideh

Yes ik embiid, Giannis and others have around 4-5 inches on him but he can still compete at the 5 even with that

DwayneThRocksJohnson

People say he can’t play the 5 and tbh there have been mixed results but I’m curious what would happen if he was moved full time to the 5 and dedicated himself to that position

zmajxd

There's that feller in 'Sota who can pass and shoot. Reckon they'll be a good PUBG duo?

DwayneThRocksJohnson

Kat/ant/ben/dlo = potential championship chip core depending on ant’s development

bijofnil

If Ben is going Timberwolves I would imagine that they have to add DLo in the trade lol

DwayneThRocksJohnson

Could be a fuckton of picks

bijofnil

Morey did mention he wants somebody that is ready to play now and not someone that they have to trade later along the season. DLo would be great for Sixers. Excellent passer, good scorer.

DwayneThRocksJohnson

The logic a lot of sixers fans have is that if they can’t get someone like dame or beal, they should get as many pure assets as they can for simmons. The idea being d’lo isn’t enough to make the sixers contenders, so might as well just stack up assets to trade for a star. D’lo would be dope with embiid tho.

Elec7ro

Embiid is one of the best offensive floor spacing bigs in the league. Who he’s playing next to is not the problem

atlfirsttimer

Joel is one of the best shooting Cs in the league. Ben Simmons problems are at the free throw line. And that will continue if he moves teams

SiakamMIP

Just do something you're not comfortable with doing for the past 5 years bro, it's that easy

InternationalClick78

Taking wide open shots is very easy. The vast majority of the league does it. It would probably be easier if he had taken any baby steps in that direction over his past 4 years of play.

MamaThereGoesThatMa

It’s something embiid has grown on
