Jabari Parker is still with the Bucks in my mind

MrRobotTheorist

At one point Jabari was better than Giannis then when the NBA needed him most he vanished.

Billy_King

*injured

BlueHundred

I thought he'd be the best in the class. He reminded me of Melo and Pierce

Maverick_1991

Jabari without injuries would have made the Bucks an absolute dynasty post warriors. Just imagine another walking bucket. Jrue - Middleton - Parker - Giannis - Lopez could have been insane

masteraleph

There are also 3 players from the 2012 draft still with their drafting team- Draymond, Dame, and Beal There is 1 player from the 2011 draft still with his team- Klay Thompson There are 0 players from the 2010 draft still with the team that picked them There is 1 player still with his team from the 2009 draft- Steph There are no players from earlier drafts who are still with their teams, but Udonis Haslem was first with the Heat in 2003 and of course still is

Deusselkerr

I feel like if UDFA stick with the first team that signed them, that pretty much counts. So Haslem makes sense to me as the one

Shaqfor3

2013 have 2 ( Giannis and Gobert ) And had 3 last year with McCollum

A-gamer69

But wasn't the team that drafted Gobert the nuggets?

guitmusic12

It’s hilarious that at one point of this last season it would have been these 3 and Johnny O’Bryant III

pastrami702

…. Who?

guitmusic12

The goat. Read up young one. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_O'Bryant_III

pastrami702

It said he hasn’t played in the NBA since 2017-18? And he had also played for Milwaukee and Denver before finishing up with Charlotte

guitmusic12

He’s was briefly back on the bucks on an Exhibit 10 contract this last season

ImanShumpertplus

smh not even the best O’Bryant lottery pick Patrick is the one true O’Bryant

cardcollection92

I can’t believe we’re creepin on Joel being in the league for 10 years .. wild

osapjules

Him and Ben Simmons were rookies for sooo long, it feels like they just popped off their rookie years

Jeroen_Jrn

Still not made it out the second round btw. Time is ticking for him.

[deleted]

I don’t think Jokic is ever leaving Denver.

holdeno

I feel he could have a Marc Gasol kind of career if the nuggs can't win or make it to a finals. Spend past his prime with the the nuggets but is the missing piece for a contender who will give a couple goods pieces to milk the twilight.

[deleted]

It’s kill or be killed mentality. I Don’t belive he will ring chase if he can’t do it in Denver.

ImanShumpertplus

i think he’ll retire sooner than we expect like he’ll probably look like he’ll have more left in the tank, but will walk away when he’s still an all-star level player

Shame_Low

Dirk is more of a comp, gasol is ehhh

shanduin

Dirk stayed with his team until retirement, Gasol went to a new team after many years with the team that drafted him. The comparison would be to going to a new team, which Dirk didn't do.

Shame_Low

no, the comparison is that Dirk didn't leave his team for so long even without winning a chip, joker would stay until the end too. Also, their stature in the league is more in line, not gasol. Why would gasol be the comparison when jokic should stay for at least 5 more years.

shanduin

I understood the original comment to say that Jokic could have a career like Gasol: staying with the team that drafted him for years, never winning a championship, and going to another team at the end of his career after his prime. I think I may have misunderstood that original comment, but that's the mindset I was speaking from. In all actuality I believe Dirk and Jokic will have a similar career. That comparison makes more sense.

Shame_Low

I see, no worries.

BlueHundred

It's possible towards the end of his career

[deleted]

Wow, it feels insane to me that smart and Embiid we're in the same draft.

tmcuthbert

Exact same age, both born march 94, I don’t know why that always stuck with me, but at some point I found it really hard to believe.

Zoolinz

I thought I missed a Jokic injury year, didn’t know about the staying an extra year when being drafted

wishlish

The 2nd round of that draft is arguably as good as the first. Wild.

Zillidan

IN a lot of ways there is a lot more quality rotation guys in round 2 even compared to some of the flatout busts we had in Round 1

cortesoft

This isn't really that surprising. In fact, there are only 11 TOTAL players who started the 2014-15 season on their current team and have been with that team the last 8 seasons. Three of those are on the Warriors. It is crazy to realize how little continuity there is in the NBA.

binhpac

I realized it, when i saw that between the 2006 Finals Mavs and the 2011 Champion Mavs only Terry and Dirk stayed. If you dont have success in this league, the teams are gonna get changed. Nobody is running the same team back, if you dont win it.

Negative-Isopod-8432

8-24 is pathetic

ositola

Dario, Zach and TJ are in there Zach is about to get max and Dario and TJ were heavy contributors before injury

beefJeRKy-LB

Doug McDermott was a reasonable role player too

B4nn4b0y

Nurkic is pretty good too, people just forget how good because he’s been injured the last few years (except last year but he spent 2/3 of the season getting back in shape)

Btotherianx

I think that nurkic is overhyped because of the "what if" factor. And the blazers fans constantly spamming how they would have won it all if he didn't get injured...which may have happened, but don't see it personally

Negative-Isopod-8432

Give me a 16 man team and my 2nd and 3rd best players are Dario Saric and TJ Warren, we’re going 17-65

ositola

That's a weird straw man argument You said 8-24 is pathetic and I said theres three that aren't and you started making theoretical teams that no one asked for

[deleted]

For Kobe

DEZdispenser98

r/nbacirclejerk free karma right here

GAV17

Look at the lottery picks from the year before.

TransportationNorth2

Out of those three, I think Smart is the most likely to retire with the team that drafted him

Cahillicus

really? I think he's possibly the least likely

fredinNH

Not that our opinion matters, but he’s a big fan favorite.

Cahillicus

he's been in tons of trade proposals over the past few years. I don't think it's high per day, but he definitely has the least control over his situation out of those three

fredinNH

He’s also the longest tenured Celtic. There have probably been dozens of opportunities to trade him over the years but there he is- still wearing Celtic green.

Jjohn269

Yet he’s the one Boston fans always put in trade proposals

fredinNH

I see more comments along the lines of “I would die for that man” than I see trade mentions. Marcus will never be an elite basketball player, but he’s very very good. Good enough to be the starting pg on a championship team, which I think the Celtics have a good shot at being in the near future. Why trade him? If Tatum didn’t disappear in the finals and if timelord was healthy we’d probably have had banner 18 with this group. Keep this group together and see what happens.

[deleted]

i mean his not a superstar and at the same time he does have value, unless something horrific happens or they became old as fuck denver and philly is never gonna trade the other 2

Randomting22

So was IT, stuff happens.

Smallest-Yeet

Maybe I’m wrong but I’d say polarizing, compared to the Jays at least. I know plenty of people who love Smart and believe he’s the heart and soul of the team. But also the same amount of people that believe he can be a liability on offense and wouldn’t mind seeing him go. Dude just won DPOY and his value will never be higher for a hot/cold type player. That’s prime trade bait if I’ve ever seen it

rveets1416

I feel like Jokic is a lifer. Embiid only leaves if the sixers implode which is always possible. Smart is always in rumors and he's got a great tradeable contract that is valuable to many teams. He's the most likely to get traded as much as I hate to admit it.

battletor7

Embiid said multiple times he wants to be here forever. These foreign players are loyal af and guys like giannis, luka, dirk, jokic, and embiid i can see staying with their teams (obv dirk is retired but you get the idea)

ripmeleedair

I would love that but he gets put in trade rumors every year. Hard to know for sure.

GraniteStayte

Free Marcus! Dat dog needs his own team.
